Android status bar icons. Use a standard browser. Reboot into safe mode

Hello, Helpix readers!

There are people who buy gadgets for themselves and use them as the manufacturer intended. For many, pre-installed applications such as a browser, file manager, dialer, music player... They don’t even think about their functional potential and the beauty of the interface and convenience. Can't open more than ten tabs in your browser? So that's how it should be! Or you can’t change the desktop grid - 4 to 4 and okay, and so everything will fit on other windows. But most people every now and then want to make their smartphone or tablet easier to use, functional, more beautiful and a little bit their own.

Don't like the functionality of the built-in browser? There are analogues, of which there are dozens in the app stores, the potential of which is much greater than that of the preinstalled one. The built-in video player does not read the just downloaded movie? No problem! Let's install a more efficient player, and voila - enjoy the film in all its glory. You can also add functionality file manager or music player and enjoy the sound of songs in a new look. I do not like appearance desktop operating system, where there is no way to make a different animation and change the grid of icons, for example, 6 by 6? Shell stores are a dime a dozen.

Probably, many people don’t care how many applications fit on desktops and what animation will be played when flipping through desktops or whether there will be any at all. But we are people. They are different, and everyone has their own whims and everyone thinks in their own way. Perhaps many people, when choosing applications, prefer 10 different ones to pre-installed ones, and carefully choose the best, most convenient and nice option of all (like me). Some people want everyone and everything to be in the same clothes and look alike. Give functionality to others. Perfectionists want everything to be smooth, icons all in the same style, applications similar in design. It happens that you search and search... But you don’t find what you were looking for, and sometimes it’s not there at all. And one day that ray of light that you so desired and waited for appears.

Everything on my smartphone is arranged the way I want. I have everything I need. All applications (except contacts, player and dialer) are other, installed from the market. The browser is different, and so is the video player (UC Browser, MX Player). Lots of navigation programs, useful and not so useful utilities, such as a compass and a building level (although the level came to the rescue several times). The shell is different, the theme is different, the icons are different and all under the same design (Pixel Icon Pack). Even with the help of root rights (Xposed and Monster UI), I changed the color scheme of Android settings. I was able to do everything, changed everything as I wanted, installed everything, found it and changed it. Except for one thing - notification panel and status bars with switches standard Android. No matter how hard I searched, I couldn't find a way to change them, and I couldn't find the right application, which would change this panel beyond recognition (it gets boring, you know, the monotony after 3.5 years). Somehow I gave up searching. Maybe he resigned himself, or maybe he thought that there was no way to change this panel. And then six months ago I found this miracle that I had been looking for and which haunted me. Now I want to tell you about him. I present to your attention - Material Status Bar.

This program allows you to change the status bar and switch panel in Android style 5.0 Lollipop, 6.0 Marshmallow, 7.0 Nougat and 8.0 Oreo. The most important thing is that it does not require root rights and can be used by absolutely everyone with Android 4.0 and higher. The application is free, except for the advertising that appears after selecting a theme, which I will discuss below. It does not affect the performance of the system, despite the fact that I do not have powerful smartphone with Android 4.2.2. The application is one of a kind.

There are three versions of the application today: 7.9 rc, 9.5 rc and the newest 10.8. Latest version I haven't watched it yet, because... after installing version 9.5 rc was like for some time old version 7.9 rc, because I liked one theme. Therefore, I will use these versions until I get bored and it occurs to me to upgrade the application ☺. Otherwise, you will like the application and, having used these versions, you yourself will not want to install and watch the new one. Or I'll try to leave short review later, I hope.

The first version makes the panel look like Android 5 and 6, and the second - like Android 7 and 8. Both have not been fully translated into Russian (but you can figure it out at random, for example, or read this review to the end ☺). Let's consider both versions, since they are similar and differ mainly in small details. Let's start with the youngest version 7.9 rc.

This is what the application interface looks like (typical Material Design). A smooth line like a smile runs across the main window, dividing the screen just above the middle. It is painted in purple(this color will be the main color in the application). The inscription "OFF" in a large circle means that the program is not yet enabled. For the application to work, enable the service in the "Accessibility" section of the device settings.

We see that the circle has changed to “ON” and status line now in the Material Status Bar style. In the same menu you can quickly change the panel theme and line theme. Below the "ON" circle, click on the left, the status bar theme will appear (Lollipop, Gradient, Dark Gradient, Monotonous), and on the right - select the theme of the notification panel.

There are also sections “Color Picker” and “List of Applications”. Let's start with the main dish and look first at the application menu. It unfolds by pressing three horizontal stripes in a circle or swipe right.

Swiping right opens...

At the very top of the menu is “Launch”, clicking which takes us to the main application window. The section below “Settings” allows you to enable animation (something I didn’t notice), display the battery charge as a percentage (very useful), move the clock to the center of the status bar. Make the status bar transparent in home screen, make the icons darker, select the main color of the status bar (black by default) and configure the application to autostart.

For the “Notification Panel” to work, first turn on the “Enable Notification Panel” slider. First you need to turn on the Internet connection (I wonder why?).

The most interesting thing is here. In the “Theme Panel”, select the one you like from four themes: L, N, T, M. After selecting a theme, the “Go Pro” advertising window appears (buy the paid version if it gets in the way). Click on any part of the screen or return. Let's look at the topics in more detail.

Theme L. Or Android 5.0. We pull the curtain and see the notification panel. Swipe down again to open the switch panel and the screen brightness adjustment slider. You can immediately expand this panel if you pull it out with two fingers at once. There are nine switches in the first window. A second window will open if you swipe left, and there will be other toggle switches there.

Theme N. Very similar to the theme L, except for the notification panel, where the first six toggle switches of the switch panel are displayed. From here you can turn on Wi-Fi or mobile Internet. More convenient than the previous one, definitely.

T theme. Samsung app theme. Who likes TouchWiz and color Samsung diagram, can choose this panel for themselves. Unlike previous ones, this theme does not have a separate switch panel where you can swipe down. The switches scroll from left to right. Here you can use automatic setup brightness The previous two do not have this option. Because of this thread I was forced to delete new version. Well, I really liked her. I walked with her for a long time. I didn't even change the color.

Theme M. Redesigned and modified Samsung theme. The background color is white, where in Samsung blue. Only three toggle switches are displayed on the main panel (for me it is Wi-Fi, data transfer and Bluetooth).

You can customize the switch panel by clicking "Edit". You can remove a tile by clicking on it. After which it moves to the lower area of the screen. If we want to add it, we tap the one we need, and it goes to the end of the panel, from where we can drag it anywhere. 14 toggle switches: on/off. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, data transfer, auto-rotate screen, location, airplane mode, call sound, data sync and flashlight. And also adding an alarm clock and quick call dialers, screen timeout (15 s, 30 s; 1, 2, 10, 30 min), camera and calculator. Only the grid is 3 by 3 and cannot be changed.

I would also like to draw your attention to the position of the screen brightness adjustment slider in the panel. In the first two themes, the screen brightness is set to 60%, and in the last two - to 40%. In fact, the brightness is set to 40 percent. But you can get used to this little thing.

We check the box next to the “Color the panel” setting, and the switch area will be painted in the color of the Material Status Bar that we select. (In the example, the main color is purple.)

Here we can select a picture for the user profile, which will be displayed in the switch panel at the top, in the “Choose Profile Picture” section. But I can assure you that once you select a picture, you will hardly distinguish it, because it is tiny.

"Choose brightness slider color" allows you to select the color of the brightness level slider in RGB mode. Select colors from the main three by moving the sliders and save by pressing “Set”. You can return the standard color back by tapping "Remove".

The next section in the menu allows us to enable notifications at the top of the screen when messages and system and calendar notifications arrive. Notification style: light and dark. Position of notifications at the top of the screen: below the status bar, in the status bar, at the bottom of the screen.

Chapter " Backup& Recovery" allows you to create backup settings flowers and restore them back. Useful unless intentional deletion (not force majeure) clears app data. Otherwise, the data will be lost.

Below in the menu you can purchase the Pro version of the application, and the manufacturer has installed several screenshots of what it will all look like. From the pictures you can see that new themes will appear.

There is also a community in the menu, where you can leave a review and rate the application.

We also got to dessert, which is setting the color palette. In the "Color Picker" section, select an image by tapping on it, select the color you like, and click on it. A color code will appear (#000000 for black, for example), click “copy color”. When setting the color, you can paste this code into the panel where the value is displayed color palette. For me, it’s better and faster to find colors in the RGB panel.

In four years, from a small but ambitious Android project has turned into perhaps the most complex and functionality-packed mobile OS of our time. Android supports a huge number of technologies and functions, many of which are hidden from the user or hidden in places you wouldn't even think to look at. This article is a collection of tips and tricks that can be applied to any Android device without the need to root.

01. DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC CREATION OF ICONS ON THE DESKTOP

I think I’m not the only one who is annoyed by the way the market behaves when installing an application. For some reason he thinks that for any more or less software or the next game I definitely need an icon on the desktop, and he successfully creates it. And I have to delete it. And then another one. And so every time.

Fortunately, this behavior is easy to disable - just open the settings Google Play(in the left panel) and uncheck the “Add icons” checkbox. There you can also disable the forced password request every 30 minutes when purchasing applications, as well as the hated auto-update of applications.

02. DISABLE GOOGLE SEARCH AND OTHER USELESS SOFTWARE

Standard firmware for Android smartphones includes great amount useless software, starting from the heap Google applications(do you know that Google requires manufacturing companies to include almost all the software it develops in the firmware of their devices?) and ending with all sorts of junk from the smartphone manufacturer. All of this (or at least most) can be disabled.

Go to “Settings → Applications → All”, tap on the desired software and click “Disable” (of course, you will be warned how “dangerous” this is). By the way, when disconnecting Google search will disappear and Google Now, as well as the search bar from the desktop (after reboot), which will be replaced by an empty area.

03. RESET TO SAFE MODE

Few people know, but Android, like many other operating systems, has a so-called Safe mode. This is a mode in which the operating system boots with disabled third party applications. Not very skillfully written malware (one that is not registered in system partition) in this case falls off, like any software that interferes normal operation systems. Safe mode can be used to bypass screen blockers, applications that cause your smartphone to freeze, or, alternatively, to identify who is actually eating up the battery - next update firmware or software.

The mode is turned on in a rather simple, but not at all obvious way: by holding down the power button and then holding your finger on the “Turn off power” item. After rebooting, the culprit of the problem can be removed through “Settings → Applications”.

04. GET RID OF INSTRUCTIVE NOTIFICATIONS

“The construction of the castle is finished!” - how did you get these notifications? Everyone who is not too lazy is trying to notify me about all possible and impossible events: “Vasya Dzhubga replied to you on Twitter,” “You have 100,500 new messages,” “You won surgery to enlarge your right leg.” You swipe away one notification, and three new ones appear in its place.

How to get rid of all this slag: hold your finger on the notification for a long time and uncheck the “Stop” button. This is the recipe for KitKat. In Lollipop, everything is a little different, but the essence is the same: hold down, then the i button, in the window that opens, put a checkmark on “Block”. There you can also force the notification to be a priority so that it is always at the very top.

05. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE SERVICE MENU

Another not at all obvious function is service menu. It can be opened by dialing *#*#4636#*#*. Basically there are different Technical information like IMEI numbers, signal level, current location or network type. But there is also a very useful function for some situations to force the smartphone to switch to desired type networks (2G, 3G, LTE).

In conditions of poor 3G/LTE signal levels, the device tends to reset to 2G in order to save battery power and ensure subscriber availability. This behavior can be disabled. Open the service menu and in the “Set up preferred network type” item, select WCDMA only or LTE only. In the same way, you can switch your smartphone to 2G - GSM only. It will help if you need to save battery power and the Internet is rarely used. By the way, you can also disable the radio module there altogether (until the next reboot, of course).

In smartphones based on Chinese chips MTK has its own and much more sophisticated service menu. His number is *#*#3646633#*#*. There is various system information and a huge number of tests, among which you can find several useful settings, such as adjusting the call volume or, for example, changing GPS/AGPS settings. The menu itself is terribly illogical and contains so much varied information that I don’t even dare to describe it, but simply send the reader to three letters - XDA.

06. USE A STANDARD BROWSER

I don't know why users don't like the built-in one so much Android browser. In my opinion, he is wonderful. Lightweight, fast, based on the Chromium engine, can synchronize with Google account(that is, it immediately includes all bookmarks and passwords from Chrome), but most importantly, it has a very convenient and almost ingenious navigation method. This is the so called radial menu, which can be activated in the settings (Android 4.0–4.4 only).

07. MANAGE YOUR CONTACTS FROM YOUR COMPUTER

Google has web services not only for remotely installing software, blocking and searching for a smartphone, but also for managing contacts. All people's contacts ever saved and synchronized when connecting a new smartphone can always be found on the page google.com/contacts. They can be viewed, edited, added and deleted. Moreover, oddly enough, it is essentially part of Gmail.

08. MONITOR YOUR PROCESSOR LOAD

Android has a built-in function to show the current CPU load and active this moment processes on top of the screen. In theory, it is intended for application and firmware developers and is hidden from ordinary users, but no one is stopping us from activating it. But first you will have to reach the “For Developers” settings section, which by default does not exist at all.

Go to settings, then “About phone”, find the line “Build number” and tap on it seven times in a row. The message “You have become a developer!” should appear on the screen. This means that the “For Developers” item is now open, and we go to it. We rewind almost to the very bottom of the screen and in the “Monitoring” section we find the “Show CPU load” switch.

Turn it on and see a list in the upper right part of the screen. The first line is the so-called loadavg, which shows the number of processes that had to run or wait their turn to run in the last minute, five and ten minutes. To put it very roughly: if these values, divided by the number of processor cores, are above one, this means 100% processor load in the last minute, five or ten minutes, respectively. Below is a list of the most power-hungry processes (essentially, an analogue of the top command from Linux).

09. USE ADB TO BACKUP SOFTWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER

We have already written more than once about a wonderful tool called ADB, which can significantly simplify managing a device from a computer for a person who is familiar with the console (here we are mainly talking about Linux, of course). In addition to the ability to install software, transfer files to a smartphone, view logs and other useful things, ADB has recently made it possible to backup all smartphone settings and applications.

To use this functionality, install universal ADB driver(goo.gl/AzZrjR), then download ADB itself (goo.gl/3P7klM), install the driver, then expand the archive with ADB, connect the smartphone to the computer with a USB cable, launch command line and execute the command

A message will appear on the smartphone screen asking you to specify the encryption password for the backup - you can safely press “Next”. The application backup process will begin, which will affect both the APK packages themselves (the -apk flag in the command) and their settings. All applications from the memory card will also be included in the backup. You can restore a backup using the following command:

$ adb restore backup . ab

10. DISABLE BACKGROUND DATA TRANSFER IN APPLICATIONS

Working in the background, applications can actively use the Internet for a variety of purposes, from updating their content to leaking information about your location. In addition, such activity in any case leads to increased battery consumption.

Android has the ability to selectively restrict applications from transferring data in the background, but it is located in a place where most users would hardly ever look. To prevent any application from using the Internet in the background, you need to go to settings, then “Data transfer”, scroll down the screen to the list of applications actively using the network (for some it will be a surprise that it is there at all) and tap on the desired software. At the bottom there will be an option “Limit background mode" It is worth keeping in mind that the option will disable data transfer only over the mobile network, so Wi-Fi data will continue to flow.

11. USE THE SEARCH BAR

Often, smartphone owners Android based neglected search bar at the top of the main screen. This is really logical, given the ability to search by typing a query into address bar any mobile browser.

Meanwhile, the desktop search bar does much more than just redirect your request to google.com. It allows you to search contacts, applications, calendar events, bookmarks and web browser history in automatic mode. At normal use smartphone, it may not be so useful, but when connected external keyboard it is an indispensable tool. Just click and enter the name of the application, contact or anything else, and it immediately appears on the screen.

12. USE SMART LOCK

Smart Lock- one of those functions that you don’t think about, but once you try it, you can’t live without it. This is one of the most notable new products Android Lollipop and one of the most useful functions added to Android in Lately. The idea of Smart Lock is extremely simple - it disables the PIN code or other lock screen protection if there is a specific Bluetooth device or map location nearby.

By default, Smart Lock is “sort of” disabled. That is, it does not light up anywhere, but after pairing with a new Bluetooth device (of any type), it will definitely offer to add it to your White list. After this you will forget about her again. But only until you enable lock screen protection in the “Security” section of the settings. Now it will work as it should.

Sami Smart settings Lock are in the same section, and, in addition to adding new Bluetooth devices, you can specify “ safe places”, and immediately with a list of options based on Google Now “observations”. By the way, if you disable it, as described in the first tip, then this functionality will also be lost.

13. SAVE ENERGY RIGHT

Another notable innovation from Lollipop is its power saving mode. IN standard Android it migrated from the firmware of smartphone manufacturers, who previously sold it independently. Now the function is in pure Android- you use your smartphone to the fullest, and when you reach 15% of the battery charge, the system suggests turning on the power saving mode, which turns off background data transfer, reduces the brightness to a minimum, turns off some sensors and reduces the screen rendering FPS to a couple of tens of frames per second. For clarity, the status bar and on-screen buttons at the bottom of the screen turn red - so you don’t forget.

To save battery life on a smartphone with an AMOLED screen, you can set black wallpapers and use apps with black backgrounds.

The energy saving mode is customizable. Go to “Settings → Battery → menu → Power saving mode.” Here you can specify a condition automatic switching on mode (though the choice is meager: 5%, 15% or never) and, most importantly, turn on the mode right now. Very convenient if you have a long trip ahead without the possibility of recharging.

14. MONITOR TRAFFIC

Most likely, smartphone manufacturers, as usual, will shovel the standard Android interface 5.0 and everything will change (hello Samsung - the biggest fan of breaking interfaces), but in the standard Lollipop curtain, or rather, in the “second curtain” with
flasks quick settings There is one highlight. The data transfer button in the center does not switch data transfer at all, but expands into an interface that allows you not only to view current flow traffic, but also disable data transfer using the switch on top.

15. SHARE NOT YOUR PHONE, BUT THE APPLICATION

Especially for those who like to give their phone to other people, Lollipop has a Screen pinning feature that allows you to lock your smartphone on one application without the ability to close it or switch to another. Like many other useful features, it is completely invisible and hidden quite deep in the settings. To activate, go to “Settings → Security”, scroll almost to the very end and turn on the “Block in application” option.

Now if you click the view button running applications(“Browse”), an pushbutton will appear at the bottom of the current application’s thumbnail. Once you tap the icon, the screen will be locked on the selected app and you will need to hold the Back and Overview buttons simultaneously to go back. In this case, you will have to enter a PIN code if it is set for the lock screen.

XX. USE ACITIVITY LAUNCHER

Any graphic Android application includes one or more so-called “activities”. Each of them is an application window (screen), for example main screen or a settings screen, maybe even a file selection window. By default, you can open directly (from the desktop) only those activities that the application developer marks as main; the rest are accessible only through the application itself and only if the developer himself allows this.

However, having the right tool at hand, you can reach any other activity of any application and even create a shortcut for it on the desktop. Activity Launcher does just that. Just install the application, select “All actions” in the menu at the top and find the software you need. All of her activities will appear on the screen, and any of them can be opened with a simple tap or placed on the desktop by holding your finger for a long time.

An example of useful “internal” activities is the Chrome bookmarks window (Chrome →Bookmark), access to the hidden AppOps mechanism in Android< 4.4.2 (Настройки → AppOps), запуск поиска в TuneIn Radio (tunein.ui.activities.TuneInSearchActivity).

Android has big set hotkeys for connected keyboards. To navigate the desktop and various menus you can use arrows, Tab and Enter. In addition, the following key combinations are available:

Esc - “Back” button;
Win + Esc - Home button;
Ctrl + Esc - “Menu” button;
Alt + Tab - switch between applications;
Ctrl + Space - switch layout;
Ctrl + P - open settings;
Ctrl + M - manage installed applications;
Ctrl + W - change wallpaper;
Win + E - write a letter;
Win + P - music player;
Win + A - calculator;
Win + S - write SMS;
Win + L - calendar;
Win + C - contacts;
Win + B - browser;
Win + M - google maps;
Win + Space - search;

To find out your MAC and IP address, go to “Settings → Wi-Fi → menu → Advanced
new functions". MAC and IP will be at the very bottom.

Lollipop has a built-in Flappy Bird style game. Go to “Settings → About phone”,
Tap on the “Android Version” item several times, then hold your finger on the “Lollipop” that appears. Let's play.

Google Now supports a large number of Russian-language voice commands. All of them can be divided into two groups: voice search and the voice commands themselves. Voice search allows you to perform an intelligent search on Google, when the system displays a specific answer on the screen instead of a list of links, and voice commands allow you to perform certain actions, for example, send an SMS or set an alarm. The list of commands is shown in the image " Voice commands Google Now." Voice search includes more than a dozen various types questions:
Weather. What will the weather be like tomorrow morning?
Addresses. Where is the nearest pharmacy?
Flight information. When does Aeroflot flight number 2336 depart?
Time. What time is it in London?
Events. When is sunset today?
Computing. What is equal to Square root from 2209?
Translation. How do you say "cucumber" in Spanish?
Sport. When does Spartak play?
Finance. What is the S&P 500 index today?
Data. What is the height of the tallest building in the world?
Exchange Rates. Convert 2600 rupees to US dollars.
Images. Show photos of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Interestingly, Google Now understands a large number of much less obvious questions in English. As an example we can give:
Should I wear a jacket today?
How much tip for 420 rubles?
Where is my parcel?

This, of course, is not all that could be talked about, but it will not be possible to lengthen the article, and many of the other possibilities are already known. Don't forget about these tricks, and your smartphone will become
a little more convenient. at January 26, 2017.

The notification panel on Android is one of the main elements of the operating system interface. With its help, users gain access to key settings device and important notifications, and additional applications allow you to expand the functionality of the notification panel and make working with your smartphone more comfortable. In this article, we will tell you how to customize the notification panel and what to do if the notification panel is not working.

How to customize the notification panel on Android

On smartphones different manufacturers The notification panel on Android may be visually different due to the features of the installed shell, but still the main elements have approximately the same arrangement. The panel opens by swiping down from the top of the screen; by swiping backwards from the bottom, the control panel can be removed.

At the top there are switches for quick on/off wireless networks, mobile transmission data, sound settings, screen brightness, and so on. At the bottom of the panel, you can see current notifications from applications. Each notification can be opened with a tap or hidden with a swipe to the side.

To customize the notification bar, go to your device settings and go to the Notifications and status bar section. Here you can choose the location of the switches and the appearance of the notification panel elements.

Using the Notification Toggle utility, you can expand the functionality of the notification panel - add switches and shortcuts for quick access To installed applications. Find the switch you are interested in in the application and check one of the boxes next to it.

Application shortcuts are added like this:

  1. Open Notification Toggle
  2. Swipe to the tab on the right
  3. Click "Add Application"
  4. Select the applications you need

What to do if the notification panel is not working

First, you need to figure out why the notification panel does not open. There may be several reasons:

  • Software conflict with a third-party application
  • Firmware update fails
  • Device screen sensor malfunction

If the notification panel stops opening after installing an application, try uninstalling it and checking the functionality of the notification panel again. If the notification bar error appears after updating the firmware, do the following:

  1. Try installing the update again
  2. Do a factory reset (read the article)
  3. Reinstall the firmware (read the article)

Often problems with the notification panel occur due to a malfunction touch screen devices after falls or moisture (read our article). First you need to check the operation of the screen sensor using the Screen Touch Test utility. Open the application and click on different areas screen. Where the clicks are registered and a white mark remains, the sensor is working properly.

If there is no white mark left in the upper area of the screen, it means that the sensor in these places does not respond to presses, which leads to the inability to open the notification panel. The best way out in such a situation there will be an appeal to service center however, you can also use alternative ways open the notification panel.

Other ways to open the notification panel on Android

If the notification panel does not open due to a problem with the sensor at the top of the screen, third-party applications can help you.

With Status Bar Shake Opener, you can open the notification bar with gestures by tilting your device to the left. Select in the application the force of response to the rotation of the device that will be convenient for you. This way you can open the notification panel without using the touch screen.

Line Android states can quickly become filled with unnecessary icons, especially if you are using a non-stock version of Android (for example, on Samsung phones or LG). Fortunately, with the help the right tools You can clear this area without losing functionality.

What is the “Status Bar”

First, let's talk about what the status bar is. Top part interface of your Android phone is divided into two defined areas: the notification panel and the status bar. The first is where all your notifications are located as they come in, shown simply as icons so you know there's something you need to know. We're not going to do anything with this "half" of the bar.

The status bar contains status icons: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile network, battery, time, alarm clock, etc. The point is that you may not need to see all these icons all the time. For example, on Samsung and LG phones, the NFC icon is always displayed when the service is turned on. It doesn't really matter because nothing else is visible here - unlike Wi-Fi or cellular network, where the signal strength is indicated. Unlike Bluetooth, there is no connection status; the service is either on or off. Having the icon there all the time when the NFC service is enabled is just stupid and takes up a lot of space.

But this is just one example, and you will probably see the path of our thoughts.

The good news is that there is an easy way to clear the status bar. It's called System UI Tuner, and it's actually part of Android. If you are using a non-stock Android device, this feature is not part of the system, but there is a way to use this tool anyway. Here we will consider both cases.

Access and use System UI Tuner on stock Android

After you have everything set up next steps will be very simple. Launch the System UI Tuner app and then open the menu in the top left corner.

From the menu, select the “Status Bar” option. Same as on stock Android You can run and enable or disable whatever you like. These changes need to happen in real time, so if you don't understand what it will look like, you can easily make changes and see the results immediately.

That's all. Now you can turn off if you wish unnecessary icons in the status bar.

Notifications are a feature that distinguishes the Android operating system. In the 2000s, we could not even imagine that in the future individual applications would learn to notify about certain events - previously, even the operating system itself could only tell about a received SMS message or email. But some people consider Push notifications to be a natural evil. The fact is that the developers of many programs go beyond all limits of reason. Notifications from such applications pour in like a river. They may also contain advertising, which no one wants to be distracted by. That's why many people think about how to set up notifications on Android.

Previously, you couldn’t even dream of managing notifications. The user considered it lucky if the application developer included in the “ Settings» point regarding Push notifications. If it was not there, then they could only be disabled by the so-called “freezing” of the utility. But then the meaning of her presence on the smartphone was lost.

Google has made sure that the owner of a tablet or smartphone can easily configure the appearance of certain notifications. Summarizing

Surprisingly, operating system Android is still far from ideal. Yes, it allows you to block notifications from individual applications. You can turn off the display of all notifications at once. But for some unknown reason Google company does not allow you to turn off the sound that plays when you receive a notification about an event. More precisely, you can disable it, but also for calls and SMS messages. Separately, the sound for calls and notifications is regulated only on a select number of devices that have a special shell.
