Moon icon in the notification bar. What do the icons at the top of the iPhone screen mean in the Status Bar?

The Do Not Disturb mode appeared in iOS 6, however, the function revealed its full potential only with the advent of the Notification Center, which was built into the system in iOS 7. Thanks to the Do Not Disturb mode, the user can stay up to date with their latest events on the locked smartphone screen without needlessly distracting others. How to enable this mode and how to configure it will be discussed in this article.

How to activate Do Not Disturb mode?

Step 1. Swipe down from the very bottom of your iPhone or iPad screen to call Control center

Step 2. Click on the month icon for Dogo to turn on the “ Do not disturb»

Ready. This is how easy it is to turn on Do Not Disturb mode. You can check it by calling yourself from a second smartphone or, for example, sending an email. Don't forget to turn off this mode, otherwise many of your notifications will be missed.

How do I set up Do Not Disturb mode?

The Do Not Disturb mode has a lot of settings. First, you can set a specific time at which Do Not Disturb mode will be activated automatically. This is very convenient, especially if you are not a fan of late-night calls or spam messages that often arrive at night. In order to designate the time when the Do Not Disturb mode will turn on automatically, activate the item Planned and indicate the required time.

Naturally, Apple also thought about really important calls - they cannot be missed, day or night. Therefore, here, in the settings, you can define a list of contacts who, despite the Do Not Disturb mode being activated, will call you as if nothing had happened. To do this, you need to go to the Call Allowance menu and specify a group of contacts, for example, those who are added to Favorites.

All specified settings can be changed in the menu Settings ->Do not disturb.

Peace for everyone! The icons that appear after certain actions on the iPhone or iPad screen are a kind of indicators that inform the user whether a certain function is currently enabled or not on the device. And although most of the designations are familiar to you and me (network signal level, battery, etc.), there are also those that can confuse and make you wonder - what do they mean? For example: a lock with an arrow in a circle, a crescent moon, an airplane and others.

Today we will understand all these icons: find out why they appear, what each of them means and how to remove all this stuff from the screen? We read carefully, do not hesitate to ask and suggest to other users in the comments. The welcome part of the article is over, let's get down to business. Let's go! :)

All indicators on the iPhone and iPad are located at the top of the display, in the so-called Status Bar (current status line), starting from left to right:

  1. The image of an airplane is the so-called airplane mode; when it is turned on, all wireless connections are turned off, including mobile communications. Therefore, when it is active, the display of the network signal strength, operator name and Internet connection standard disappears from the screen.
  2. Wi-Fi network indicator - depending on the strength of reception, one (minimum), two or three bars (maximum) are painted over. What to do if it doesn’t show up and other problems with Wi-Fi.
  3. An icon in the form of two arrows rotating in a circle appears when synchronizing (backups, copying data, etc.) the device with iTunes.
  4. Cellular network signal strength.
  5. Telecom operator name.
  6. Mobile communication standard (Edge, 3G, LTE), mostly responsible for the speed of Internet connection.
  7. Moon icon - shows the Do Not Disturb status. If this function is enabled, then calls and warnings, notifications from programs, Push messages - . More precisely, they will not be accompanied by sound signals, and a crescent sign will appear on the display at the top. To turn it on or off, go to: Settings - Do not disturb.
  8. Arrow lock icon - disables automatic screen rotation on iPhone or iPad (portrait orientation lock). You can remove or, on the contrary, use this “trick” through the lower pop-up menu (to call it, you need to pull your finger from the bottom of the display to the top).
  9. Bluetooth - good old “blue tooth” :)
  10. Battery charge in percentage.
  11. The charge of the battery in graphical form, so to speak, visually.
  12. Lightning - indicates that your iPhone or iPad is currently charging.
  13. An arrow icon - if shown on the screen, it means one (or more) programs are currently using geolocation services. And in simple terms - navigation. Try to close such applications if you are not using them, as GPS eats up your battery.

As you can see, iOS is rich in icons that represent something. Moreover, there are both intuitively understandable to any person, and quite exotic ones, characteristic only of Apple’s mobile operating system.

Updated! As I was rightly corrected in the comments, I forgot about the icon depicting a clock. So, this very clock (located next to the battery indicator) speaks of one simple fact - you will wake up soon. Yes, that's right - it's a set alarm clock on your iPhone.

Let's imagine that you have developed a very good habit - going to bed and then getting up at the same time. But your friends, family and colleagues don't always know or want to respect your daily routine. The easiest way to avoid calls and messages in the middle of the night is to flexibly configure the “ Do not disturb» on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

In contact with

Function " Do not disturb"is available in iOS starting with version 6 of the operating system, in OS X - starting with the release of Mountain Lion. But even today, not everyone knows that the mode can be configured to automatically turn on and off at a time convenient for you. As a result, every evening the gadget will go into “quiet” mode on its own.

In this article, we'll show you how to program Do Not Disturb to auto-start and auto-off—and how to make sure you don't miss an important call.

Please note that settings will have to be entered manually on each device; such information is not synchronized via iCloud.

How to Set Up Do Not Disturb Mode on Mac

1 . Open System Settings on your Mac.

2 . Click on the item Notifications.

3 . Select menu in the left column Do not disturb and put a tick next to the inscription Enable Do Not Disturb feature. Please indicate a suitable time.

4 . Configure additional options. With Do Not Disturb turned on, you can optionally:

  • a) allow all calls or
  • b) Allow repeat calls only (Mac will miss the call if the person calls you a second time within three minutes).

To turn off Do Not Disturb manually, click on the Notification Center icon in the status bar.

and then, scroll up until the switch appears with the corresponding label.

Ready! Do Not Disturb mode is also set up on your Mac. Now the computer will block all incoming notifications at the specified time - even when the Mac is in sleep mode or in display mode.

P.S. A little life hack: to pause notifications until midnight of the current day, press and hold the key ⌥Option (Alt), and then click on the Notification Center icon in the status bar. It will immediately turn gray, which means notifications are (temporarily) disabled.

The top part of the iPhone screen, where the so-called “status bar” is located, displays information about the cellular signal strength, current time, battery level and much more. It is not difficult for an experienced user to understand them, but for a beginner they are little clearer than ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. For experienced people for reference, and for beginners to learn by heart our “cheat sheet”.

In the very middle are watch, this is all clear. If desired, the clock can be set to display time in 12 or 24 hour mode. To do this, go to “Settings -> General -> Date and Time”.

On the left in the status bar are displayed: signal strength, operator name and type of network used. Let's take a closer look here:

  1. Signal quality indicator— five circles on the left indicate the signal level of the cellular network and the more shaded, the higher the quality of reception. When only one is painted, the connection is unstable.
  2. Operator name. Meaning " Extended" appears when iPhone is connected to a network other than the one your carrier uses. When iPhone is searching for a network, “Searching” appears instead of the carrier name.
  3. Cellular data network type. If the iPhone uses a cellular network (mobile Internet) to connect to the Internet instead of a wireless Wi-Fi network, then the operator name is followed by an icon indicating the type of network. Possible values: LTE, 4G, 3G, GPRS or E (for EDGE).

P.S.: The iPhone battery charge level can also be shown as a percentage. The function is turned on in “Settings -> General -> Statistics -> Switch “Charge in percentage”. There is an opinion (not confirmed) that displaying this information does not additionally, albeit slightly, increase the load on the battery. Practice shows: when percentages are turned on, the user begins to worry more about the charge level.

Surely each of the readers has had a situation when they were tired of the endless barrage of notifications from a meaningless conversation in iMessage. This can be avoided.

Notifications in iOS can be managed through a special item in Settings. They are also completely disabled in Do Not Disturb mode. If in this case the user wants to receive notifications only from a specific dialog, then it is worth doing a little differently.

To turn off notifications, you need to go into a personal dialogue or conversation. Then tap the small ⓘ icon, find the Do Not Disturb switch and turn it on. Now any notifications from that person or group will be hidden. To disable this function, you need to do the reverse procedure. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn off notifications for a specific period of time. For example, WhatsApp allows you to do this for eight hours, one week or a whole year.

Sometimes you may not even notice that Do Not Disturb mode has turned on for a separate conversation. This can only be recognized by the appearance of a transparent crescent next to the photographs of the participants in the conversation. Sometimes this situation can cause a number of troubles.
