But whatever the specific promises, the vast majority of them have two common features: firstly, they are associated with improving life, and secondly, most often they remain promises.

Your promises are abstract

Promises like “lose weight” and “learn foreign language» are not specific. Such abstract goals are very difficult to achieve: in order to lose weight, you also need to know exactly how to lose weight and regularly do something to achieve this goal. For proper nutrition- how much time you can devote to cooking, where to buy the necessary products, what exactly you will forbid yourself to eat, where you will get healthy food recipes, and so on.

For any goal, you must have a detailed plan ready. And if such a plan cannot be drawn up, most likely the goal is simply impossible, and you need to reformulate it and make it less ambitious and abstract.

Start small

After you make a plan, do not rush to promise yourself to fulfill all its points at once from January 1st. Focus on one thing at a time. For example, start doing physical exercise at least once a week. After a while, when this more or less becomes a habit, add other points from your plan.

Use existing habits

It is very difficult to start a completely new habit - if you are a completely unathletic person, it will be difficult for you to immediately start doing fitness for an hour and a half several times a week.
