iPhone 6 has no memory, what should I do? How to prevent memory loss on iPhone. #13 Clear Reading List cache in Safari browser

Yes, this is the most banal, but at the same time the most effective step. Look at your device. Do you really think you need all those games or apps that you launch once a year? Surely most of them can be removed without any consequences. And if remote application You will still need it; it can be easily restored from the cloud.

You've probably noticed that some applications begin to take up too much space over time. Most often this applies to instant messengers, and cloud services. This happens due to data caching. There are applications that allow you to clear the cache, but the easiest way is to just reinstall the application from scratch.

Don't be put off by the app's name: in addition to battery information, it does a great job of cleaning up junk. On the Junk tab, you can clear the cache and delete temporary application files, freeing up free disk space. Besides, Battery Doctor can free up RAM, including through a widget or icon quick launch on the desktop. This should be useful for game lovers.

And finally, the most troublesome, but at the same time effective way. A complete memory wipe and factory reset will return your iOS device to its original state, but, of course, you will lose all your data. Therefore, before starting the procedure, be sure to make a backup in iTunes or iCloud. After that, go to “Settings” → “General” → “Reset” and click “Erase all content and settings.” Then all that remains is to restore your device from a backup copy (or better yet, set it up as new and download all the applications again).

That seems to be all. If you know any additional ways to clear space in the memory of iOS devices, tell us about them in the comments.

I continue to delight readers of the site with instructions for all occasions. Now I will tell you how to solve the problem free space on iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. I found dozens of them online similar instructions, both in Russian and in English, but they are all characterized by stunning incompetence. They tell you how to free up space, but forget to talk about the consequences of these actions. Especially Knowing the consequences is sometimes more important than knowing the actions themselves. I will correct this misunderstanding. After reading this article, you should have much fewer questions and problems.

How to free up space on your iPad

1. Remove unnecessary applications

This is the first thing to consider. Everyone has their own principle of removal. I try to remove:

a) completed games

b) games and programs that I have not launched for more than six months. If the application is not used for six months, do I need it?

The most convenient way to delete is from the settings. Here you can see how much free space is available on the iPad: Settings->General->Statistics. Let's look at the point Available.

Let's go to Settings->General->Statistics->Storage (Storage location). We see the list installed applications, sorted by the space they occupy on the tablet. Comfortable! The list may take several seconds to form (depending on the number of installed applications).

Click on the unnecessary application and delete it. It's simple.

Consequences: if you delete the application, you will lose all saves for it, you will lose all documents and data in it. Exceptions: some applications store data in the cloud. The progress of some games is tied to your social network account.

A good option not to lose data would be to do application backup with all data on the computer before deleting it. For example, iTools allows you to do this.

This way you will free up space on your iPad and your data will remain safe and sound.

2. Delete application data

Sometimes the application itself “weighs” little, but its documents and data are large. I would like to keep the application, but delete its data. Below is a great example. Maps.Me app in pure form is 52 megabytes in size, but its data is 644 megabytes. IN in this case These are previously downloaded maps. I would like to keep the application, but delete unnecessary cards.

Option 1. Reinstall the application. Remove the application and install it again from App Store.

Option 2. Delete data from the program itself.

Option 3. Delete data via iTunes. After connecting the device to the computer, you need to go to Programs and there in Shared files . As a rule, this method is equivalent to option 2... But this way you can quickly go through the applications and see what is superfluous in them.

3. Clear browser cache (Safari, Chrome and others).

When you visit websites, some data from them is saved on your device for later use. quick access to them.

Settings->Safari->Clear history and website data.

Consequences. You'll lose history cookies and other data that speeds up access to the site. That is:

  • sites, forums where you were previously logged in will log out
  • Pictures that were saved in the iPad cache (for example, a site logo) will be reloaded again when the site is opened
  • data in the form of a comment (name, e-mail), etc. will be deleted
  • the site will forget what you love computer version, not mobile.

Passwords that you saved in Keychain Access will not be deleted.

4. Delete music. Freeing up space with music

For music lovers, music takes up a lot of space. Is it always needed on the device? If you wish to have huge collection music on iOS device and at the same time you want it not to take up space, then you have a great chance to get acquainted with iTunes Match (subscription 799 rubles per year).

The essence iTunes Match: All your music goes to the cloud, is stored in the cloud, and plays directly from the cloud. On all your devices.

Otherwise, there is only one opportunity to save space at the expense of music: when synchronizing with iTunes, you need to check the box “Reduce bitrate for songs” High Quality before". And indicate the quality: the less, the worse quality, but also smaller size songs. For example, most people won't hear the difference between 256 and 320 quality... But if you can hear the difference, then congratulations - don't use the last tip!

5. Free up space with photos and videos

Media files also tend to take up a lot of space. How to save space by using photos and videos?

Option 1. Remove from iPad/iPhone. You just need to remember that iOS 8 introduced the “Recently Deleted Items” folder. An analogue of the “Trash” in Windows or OS X. Therefore, unnecessary pictures and videos must be deleted twice: from the album and from the “Recently Deleted” folder.

Before deleting, you can make a backup. Use the cloud or simply export media files to your computer and delete them from your iDevice.

Option 2. iOS 8 introduced the ability to store photos in iCloud Photo Library. On the iPad/iPhone, however, only optimized versions are stored. Settings->iCloud->Photos.

The disadvantage of this option is that to access full version The photo requires internet access. And the big plus is that the need for photo streaming disappears (minus 1000 pictures on the device!)

Also a small life hack for the future. You need to uncheck: Settings->Photo and Camera->Keep original. Why keep the original HDR photo?

6. Delete media files in messages

Sent media files (photos and videos) in messages can serve as additional source saving free space. Let's go to the program Messages. Then we open the dialogue. Press the button Details. Attached files will appear at the very bottom. Keep your finger on the unnecessary media file and select from the menu Delete.

My sister likes to take a video on my iPhone and send it to herself. Can you imagine how much space I just saved?

7. Third party programs

They are promoting themselves online various utilities which are created for quick removal unnecessary data from iPhone and iPad. The most mentioned PhoneClean... Personally, I don't recommend using them. Why? You risk running into various problems: someone's programs are being deleted necessary documents, someone forgets to uncheck the required box and then it turns out that along with the junk, the application deleted their Safari data.

Instead of using similar applications I would prefer make a backup copy and restore the device again. This method helps free up space just as well, as it destroys temporary files and application caches (this is actually what PhoneClean does).

It's a rare user who doesn't know the heartache of trying to download a new app or take a few more photos and seeing the dreaded "not enough memory" message.

You've probably already heard everything usual advice to make room, but I'm willing to bet you haven't heard this one. It's truly a magical trick, one that can fill you with joy while simultaneously making you a little angry at Apple.

There will be no need to jailbreak your phone and it will not void your warranty or pose any danger. Try it and see what happens. Here is the sequence of steps.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and then tap General > About Phone to see how much storage is available. Please note that this is the "Before" quantity.

Step 2: Open iTunes app Store, go to movies, and find indeed big file. "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" is suitable, it weighs 6.83GB. (You just need to find a movie that requires more download space than you have available on your phone.) Click the "Rent a Movie" button twice, but you won't actually end up renting it (and therefore you won't pay anything).

Step 3: Once you see the message that you don't have enough space to download your rental, open Settings. Then go back to General > About Phone and you should see that you have an extra couple of hundred megabytes available - possibly even more.

Step 4: Repeat this process! (That is, go back to the application iTunes Store and try renting the movie again.) Every time, you should see liberation extra space. Continue until you either see enough free space increase (meaning you can actually download this movie) or available space will stop growing.

It's not immediately clear why this works, but it does. I just tested the trick on an iPhone 5c (under iOS control 9.1), which had 4 GB of free space. The result after the first attempt is 4.4 GB.

Alas, this was the maximum I could get. Repeated attempts did not add free space. But judging by the posts on forums dedicated to this topic, you will see that many users have freed up hundreds of megabytes of space many times, and some of them have been able to recover gigabytes of space. So far no one has noticed the disadvantages of this method. It doesn't appear that iOS is secretly destroying any important data.

This method likely clears caches that shouldn't be filled in the first place, suggesting this is a storage issue (if not a bug) that Apple would do well to investigate.
