Recording information on CD. How to burn files from your computer to CD and DVD. Saving files of different formats to disk

How to copy and move files from one location hard drive to another or to a “flash drive” you can learn from the previous lesson, but in this lesson let’s talk about how to copy (write) files to a CD (compact disc).

Copying to CD is slightly different from regular copying, although there is nothing complicated about this either.

It must be said that there are several ways to write to disk. Probably the most known method recording is recording using the Nero program, but in this lesson we will look at the easiest way (without learning and using software third party programs).

So, first of all, insert the CD into the drive:

After that, we find the files that we are going to burn to this disk, select them and copy them to the folder that represents your CD or DVD drive:

Those. open this folder and copy everything there necessary files, as described in the lesson Copying and moving files, or simply drag them there.

After this copying, you should have all the files in this folder in a slightly muted color with small arrows at the bottom of each icon:

But nothing has been written to the disk yet. The files are currently located in special folder on your hard drive and ready to be burned onto CD. On the left in the same window you can see two tasks that can be performed with files prepared for recording:

If these tasks are not displayed for you, then you can launch them using the context menu by right-clicking in any free space inside this folder:

I think everything is clear here: the first command starts writing to disk (this process is often called “burning”), and the second cancels the recording, deleting files prepared for recording from the folder in which they are placed before recording.

To record, select the first command, after which a window will appear CD Burning Wizard, in which we press the button Next. After this, you need to wait until the recording occurs:

At the end of the recording, the disc will automatically “eject” from the drive (depending on the settings) and a window will appear in which you will be notified about the successful completion of the recording process, where you will need to press the button Ready.

Such a window does not always appear due to the “wrong” disk.

To solve this problem, sometimes it is enough to experiment with the recording speed. To do this, right-click on the CD drive icon and context menu select item Properties:

In the next window, on the Recording tab, you can try changing the speed in the corresponding drop-down list:

If your drive is normal, then changing the speed will most likely solve the problem described above. In addition, you can make other changes in this window if you wish.

It should be noted that all discs recorded in this way (using Windows XP) are created as multi-session, that is, with the ability to add information to the same disc. Therefore, it is not necessary to fill the entire disk at once. You can always add information to it next time (during the next session).

However, we should not forget that multisession discs and discs recorded in Windows XP may not be readable on older computers.

Well, don’t forget that for temporary recording (or storing rewritable archives) it is very convenient to use CD-RW discs, which can be erased and written several times.

In the era of flash drives, USB drives and numerous cloud resources on which you can save great amount data, many computer manufacturers refuse disk drives, taking up the free space with other devices. But it’s too early to discount CDs and DVDs, because they can hold information for years that will not be erased even during an electronic attack. But not everyone knows how to write files from a computer to a disk so that later it will be convenient to use such “outdated” media.

Differences between CD and DVD

Both types are used to store digital data that is read, played back and written by the laser module head. The main difference is the amount of information that can be placed on the medium and the wavelength of the beam.

Various small amounts of data are recorded on a CD, for example, photographs, drawings, files of any audio format. Standard media can store up to 700 MB of information. It is applied with a laser beam in the form of spiral tracks onto a metal-coated plastic base, burning through its upper layers, creating small depressions.

DVD is a medium with several times increased capacity (compared to CD). On such a disk you can record from 4.7-9.4 GB. There are rarely used types of the same size, 17 GB each, and HD versions with the ability to store and play back up to 30 GB of information. DVD records video, graphics, images and installation packages OS and other programs.

This difference in volume was made possible by using a thinner beam with a simultaneous decrease in wavelength, which made it possible to narrow the distances between the turns of the spiral and the size of the created recesses (pits).

Comparison of CD and DVD: table

Differences between R and RW

CD and DVD media are divided into two types according to the method of information processing.

On the disks they are designated by letters:

  • R – only for reading information;
  • RW – for repeated rewriting and use.

Outwardly, it is impossible to distinguish, for example, a DVD-RW from its brother with the R index. This can be found out by reading the inscription on the disc or on its case.

Media with the R index are considered more reliable, because data is practically impossible to destroy unless the surface is damaged or the base is broken. But information is recorded on them only once. The RW disk can be accidentally erased and all files will be lost. But it is rewritable many times.

When recording an R-disc, the laser cuts certain areas metal applied to the base, making indentations of various sizes and colors in them. When reading, the beam is reflected from dark and light places differently, and is transmitted to the signal receiver.

Added to rewritable media (RW) additional layer made of a special alloy with memory properties. When heated strongly, this substance becomes glassy. Influencing him in the right points, record information that can be freely read.

To rewrite, the disc is heated less intensely. The alloy “remembers” its previous state, loses its glassiness and restores its former properties. Information can be updated a certain number of times (1000 or more cycles). Over time, the inner layer deteriorates.

The physical processes occurring inside the CD disc material do not allow installation high speed records. If exceeded certain value The burning of the disc becomes poor quality, gaps and “smearing” of information appear. In DVD media, the speed is also regulated, but it can be increased by an order of magnitude.

Methods for writing to disk

If your PC has any drive installed (preferably DVD-RW), then it can be used to save information to disk. You can copy documents, music, videos, images of any OS and other data to it. How can I make a recording?

Implement using Windows itself

Every modern operating system has the ability to write to disk. Windows 10 has a special tool for this. It can be activated directly from the computer's desktop screen. Ten, like other systems, freely copies all data to disk, regardless of extension, but it itself cannot work with all formats.

For example, it will recognize and write to a disc a file with the Nrg extension, but it will not be able to open it. This format was installed by NERO developers, and to work with it you need to install this program on your PC.

In ten you can implement only three write operations:

  1. Transferring the image to a blank. This option is required to install OS (Windows, Linux and others) or other programs on a PC.
  2. Create a system repair disc.
  3. Copy and save audio, video and other files. This operation is relevant for users who edit videos and audio recordings, for viewing on players and listening in modern stereo systems.

Third-party utility UltraIso

This program must be installed on your PC. It allows you to carry out many operations not only with common species media, but also with a virtual drive, which it itself will create. Each option allows you to create not only new disks, but also copy old ones.

Burning an image

For this purpose, many have been developed third party utilities, for example, UltraIso, Burning Studio, NeroExpress and others. With their help, you can record images not only of the OS, but also of other programs.

How to save an image using internal system tools

Burning an image using UltraIso

In this utility, which is an effective tool for working with virtual drives and any media, you can perform many operations with disks. Installing an OS or any program is very often done from its image. One of the operations that can be performed with using UltraISO, is a recording on the media.

To do this you should:

After UltraISO ends (several minutes), a notification about this pops up. In some versions of the program, the drive opens itself, indicating the completion of the process.

If the burning parameters do not suit the user, he can change the following data:

  1. Drive unit. Clicking on the checkmark will help you select the device that contains the empty disk.
  2. Write speed. The fastest one is always installed by default. Sometimes for recording quality it is recommended to set low speed. Click on the “bird” to select the desired option.
  3. Recording method. It’s better to entrust it to the program itself and leave everything as is.
  4. Image file. If you accidentally select the wrong path, you can specify a new one. This is done in two ways. The first option involves changing the path manually (by changing the label) if the user knows the exact location of the file. The second option can be launched by clicking on the rectangle with three dots on the left. A standard window will appear in which you should select the appropriate path to the image.

How to Create a Windows 10 Recovery Disc on DVD

The main way to fix the OS after a failure is to record a copy of the system and launch it. The device that implements this process conventionally means not a DVD, but some kind of USB drive (flash drive, external HDD).

If you need to restore using a CD (for example, the USB ports on your PC are damaged), then this can be done in a separate location.

To do this in Windows environment necessary:

Saving files of different formats to disk

It is not necessary to use third-party programs to copy any information. Windows 10 itself has an option to implement recording.

To enable it:

How to Burn Data Using UltraISO

Saving to disk regular files can be done with any third-party program that is designed for this, for example, UltraISO.

To implement the process:

After the operation is completed optical media removed or replaced with a new one for later copying of files.

The described methods for recording data, images and files are not the only ones. There are more than 1000 programs and utilities that allow you to copy information to disks. Everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages.

Hello, friends! In this article, How to burn a disc on Windows 7, we will tell you how to burn a disc in the Windows 7 operating system using the built-in disc burning utility. If you just need to write a few files to disk, you don’t even need to set the path free utilities. Although they make use of more wide functions and are often more convenient than built-in disc burning tools. But, if you don’t often burn discs, then why install additional software if everything can be done using the operating system?

Introduction

In order to burn a disc you need to insert it into the drive. Paste blank disk into the drive.

The window below appears almost immediately. If it is not there, you need to go to optical disk. In the Burn disc window, you need to select how to use this disc.

How USB flash drive- allows you to work with this disk as a flash drive. That is, write and erase files at any time simple drag and drop and deleting files. If you don't have a flash drive handy, this is great alternative.

With a CD/DVD player - this disc format is readable on computers and most household players, unlike the previous one, but is less convenient to use. Files can only be burned in groups and there is no way to change or delete individual files after burning a disc.

Let's consider each option separately.

Option for burning discs in Windows 7 - as a USB flash drive

The optical disc will format

In the case of a CD, this is a quick procedure.

Then you need to send the file you are writing to the optical drive. Right-click on the file or folder and select Send > DVD/CD-RW drive.

The file will be copied to the disk and written to immediately

You can also simply drag and drop any file or folder onto the disk.

You can view what happened on the disk by opening it in the Computer window.

You can just as easily delete information. Highlight unnecessary file and press Delete. The file will be deleted immediately, but it will continue to take up disk space. That is, if you recorded 500 MB of information on a CD, and then deleted 400 MB, 500 MB will still be occupied.

If you are using a rewritable CD-RW or DVD-RW disc, then you can erase it so that all the disk space is available.

Right-click on the disk and select Erase disk

When you remove a disk used as a flash drive, the recording session will be closed, which you will be warned about in a message in the notification area. How to conveniently manage programs in the notification area can be read in the article Windows startup 7

The session closes quickly and automatically when you press the open drive button and the disk is ready for use on other computers.

Option for burning discs on Windows 7 - with a CD/DVD player

Select to use the disc with the CD/DVD player and click Next

Then send the files using the above method or simply copy everything you need to write to disk. In this case, nothing will be recorded immediately. A session will be created that you can record. You will see a warning in the notification area

Copy everything necessary information to disk. Then open your optical drive and click Burn to CD

A window will appear in which you can set the name of the disc and theoretically select the recording speed. In my case, the speed was not selected and, moreover, it was set higher than the maximum - 48x. Click Next

You need to wait a little while the files are prepared for recording and the recording itself takes place.

Files take a long time to record even at maximum speed. I have 3 drawings up to 5 MB, a total of 3 minutes were recorded. After successful completion, you will see the window below where you will be prompted to write the same files to another disk. Click Finish

The disc was successfully burned in Windows 7. All that remains is to check the recording quality on another computer by copying the contents of the optical disc to the hard drive.

Conclusion

This article looked at how to burn a disc on Windows 7. The disc can be used in two ways. How USB flash drive or as “With CD/DVD player”. The flash drive option is more versatile and, in my opinion, more convenient. There is no need to create any sessions; recording starts immediately. On the other hand, when creating a disc “with a player,” you have the opportunity to think twice before recording. This is especially true if you have a non-rewritable CD or DVD. (Called CD-R and DVD-R in contrast to rewritable CD-RW and DVD-RW). Another + option with a player is that the probability of reading a recordable disc on simple, household players is higher than when using the disc as a flash drive.

Household reading drives optical disks often do not understand Russian letters in file names and have a very negative attitude towards spaces. Therefore, it is better to use short names written with Latin letters in which spaces are replaced with underscores for example. There are also players that do not see files in folders created on the disk. Therefore, the last recommendation would be not to create folders on the disk. If possible, write files (music, movies and photos) to the root of the disk. This most likely applies to very ancient drives.

How to burn a disc on Windows 7

Users record from time to time various files to DVD discs (movies, music, photos, etc.), using various third-party programs for this purpose. But many users still do not know that in order to burn files to a DVD disc, it is not necessary to use third-party programs, since this can be done using the Windows system itself.

Despite the fact that now there are more convenient and reliable ways to store information (for example, a flash drive), DVDs are still popular. Such discs are relatively inexpensive, and if you handle them carefully, the information recorded on them will be safe.

What do we need to record such a disc?

For this we need:

1) Actually, the empty DVD disk (or CD) itself, on which the recording will be made. It is important that this disk is in good condition, no physical damage (no scratches).

2) DVD burner drive.

3) Installed operating system windows (XP, Vista, Seven or Eight).

P.S. This article describes the process of burning a disc in the Windows 7 operating system.

Burning a DVD

1) Insert a blank disc into the DVD burner drive. If you see an autorun window with action suggestions, close it (red cross in the right top corner).

2) Now you need to specify the files to record, this can be done in different ways (choose the option that seems more convenient to you):

a) Select the required files and folders (using the mouse or keyboard, holding down Shift keys or Ctrl). Right-click on any selected file, select Send from the drop-down menu, from the drop-down menu additional list select your drive.

b) Select the desired files and click the “Burn to optical disc” button.

c) You don’t have to immediately select files for recording (which is convenient, for example, in cases where there are a lot of files and they are located in different folders). In this case, simply go through “my computer” to the DVD drive, and then select the file system type (see point 3). Then add the necessary files for recording.

3) A window will appear in which you will need to select the file system type.

What to choose is up to you (personally, I choose the second option). I will not describe the advantages and disadvantages of these formats here; if you want to know more, there is help there (click on the link “Which format should I use?”).

4) Now you have files prepared for recording. If necessary, you can add more files to record, or delete unnecessary ones. In general, until you start recording directly, you can edit this list of prepared files.

5) After you are sure that all the necessary files have already been added, click on the “Burn to CD” button.

6) After which you will be asked to enter the name of the disc (enter your own, or leave it as default), and also select the recording speed. Click next, after which recording to the disk will begin directly.

Through certain time(depending on the amount of data being written, as well as the recording speed), a message will appear indicating that your files have been successfully written.

How to burn files to disk

Despite the fact that transporting and transferring files from computer to computer is usually done via a network or using flash drives, optical disks are still quite common today and are in the arsenal of many users. They serve as a spare boot disk, for storage various bases data (photos, audio, video, etc.), for listening to music, and other useful tasks. At the same time, recording such discs has certain specifics that directly depend on the future use of such a disc and the type of OS used by the user. In this material I will tell you how to write files to disk, what tools will help us with this, and what are the features of recording depending on the operating system the user is using.

Learning how to write to disk

Variety of options

There are several fairly well-known programs that allow you to write files to an optical disc (usually these are types of CD-R(RW), DVD-R(RW), Blu-ray discs). For example, these are well-known to many “Nero”, “Roxio”, “ Ashampoo Burning Studio", "Power2Go" and other analogues. At the same time, the built-in tools of the Windows OS, in particular “ File Explorer" And " Windows Explorer» (« Windows Explorer") also has excellent capabilities for burning CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Below I will show how to use their functionality in operating rooms windows systems 7, 8, and 10.

How to burn CD files from a computer to a disc

As is known, standard size A CD disk (an abbreviation for “Compact Disk”) is a standard 700 megabytes (although there are CD disks in sizes of 140, 210, and 800 megabytes). To record a standard CD, take an empty “blank” of such a “CD-R” disc (designed for one-time recording on the disc, although there are options for “adding” files to such a disc to existing ones).

Insert such a disc into an optical CD or DVD drive that has a recording function. The system will quickly recognize an empty disk and ask you what to do with this disk. Usually versions given choice V different versions The operating systems differ only visually, but in essence they are similar.

Here's what it looks like in Windows 7:

Disk options in Windows 7

Here's what it looks like in Windows 8.1:

Standard selection in Windows 8.1

If for some reason you have the “Auto-play” function disabled, then you will need to open “Explorer” and double-click on the icon optical drive in the list of disks available on the PC.

In the Autorun menu that appears, select Burn files to disc. Next, a menu usually appears offering a choice of two options for using the disk:

Two disc recording options
  • Like a flash drive. This option allows you to burn a disc in the “Live” file system, which allows you to add or delete files as you would when working with a regular flash drive. This format Typically used only with rewritable discs (RW discs), but since this section We are considering a regular CD-R disc, then this item does not suit us. At the same time, discs written “as a flash drive” can only work with computers running Windows OS (such discs are not supported on other devices).
  • With CD/DVD player. This option allows you to burn your disc, close the disc, and use it in various CD/DVD players or on other computers.

Let's look at the features of recording a disc in the mentioned options.

Interesting: How to open mdf files and mds?

How to burn a disc using the "as a flash drive" option

As I mentioned above, this option is suitable for RW disks that can be rewritten multiple times. If you decide to use your RW disk as a flash drive (that is, repeatedly write files to it and then delete them), select this (first) option and click on “Next”. The drive will be formatted with the Live file system, which may take some time.

Your drive will be formatted with the "Live" file system

Once the drive is formatted, you will need to drag (transfer) files onto it to write them to the drive.

Find on your hard drive the necessary folders (or files) to record and, by clicking on them and holding down left key mouse, drag them into the window of the disc being burned (or use the “Copy” - “Paste” functions (Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V) for this purpose). When you add folders and files there, they will be automatically written to the disc.

Once these files are written to the disk, you can just as easily delete them from the disk. Simply select the file, right-click, and select Delete.

Files from such a disk are deleted as from a regular flash drive.

Please note that files deleted from such a disk are not placed in the Recycle Bin, but are immediately deleted from the disk.

After you have recorded all the necessary files, you need to close our session.

To do this, in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, you need to go to the burned disc, unmark the selected files, and then click on the “Eject” button at the top.

In Windows 7, you need to click “Close session” at the top, or click on the “Extract” button located there.

Click on “End Session” to end the session

How to burn a disc using the "With CD/DVD player" option

This option is the most popular for burning discs, in particular because of the ability to use such a disc with various devices, and not just with a PC.

Select this option, and drag the files onto the disk as described above. The difference will be that these files will not be automatically written to disk (as in the previous case), but will be placed in a temporary directory on the disk for subsequent recording.

When the files are added, Windows will notify the user that they have files waiting to be written to disk.

Relevant Windows notification

To burn to disk in Windows 10, you need to select the “Finish burning” menu item in the “Manage” menu.

In Windows 7, you need to select “Burn to disk” at the top.

In Windows 8, you need to select “Finish burning” from the top.

The system will prompt you to select a name for the disk and a recording speed, then click on “Next” (this choice is available in all OSes I mentioned).

Select disc name and recording speed

If you choose to record audio files, the system will ask you whether you want to burn an “Audio CD” that will play in standard audio players, or whether you want to create a disc with audio data (“Make a data CD”). Select the desired option and click Next.

Your disc will begin recording. After graduation Windows entries will ask if you want to burn another disc with the same files. If you don't need it, then refuse and you will receive your burned disc.

How to copy files to a CD-RW disc

CD-RW discs (an abbreviation for “Compact Disc-ReWritable”, translated as “Rewritable CD”) usually have the same capacity as the CD-Rs I previously reviewed (700 megabytes). Moreover, as follows from its abbreviation, CD-RW discs can be written to multiple times, which makes their use quite convenient.

CD-RW burning disc is not fundamentally different from the standard recording CD-R disc(the mechanism was discussed by me above). At the same time, the possibility of overwriting them makes it possible to select the first of the recording options I considered earlier (as “like a flash drive”). By using the “Live” file system, files on such disks will be written to automatic mode, and also delete it from it, which will differ little from the same work with a regular flash drive.

Burn a DVD with files

DVD discs (from “Digital Versatile Disc”, translated as “digital multi-purpose disc”) are the next step in the development of optical discs, differing from their earlier counterparts (CD) in the larger amount of data stored on them (usually 4.7 gigabytes in the case of single-layer disk, and 8.5 gigabytes in the case of a double-layer disk).

At the same time, the specifics of recording on them are not particularly different from the above-mentioned recording on CD-R (RW) discs. Please note that for DVD recordings you need to have an appropriate DVD drive (you won't be able to burn a DVD on a standard CD drive).

Insert a blank DVD-R (RW) disc into the drive, select the burning option (either as a flash drive or with an CD/DVD player), drag the required files onto the disc, select the disc name, recording speed, and start the disc burning process.

If you are burning a DVD-RW disc, Microsoft recommends choosing the “Like a flash drive” burning option.

A window will appear in which you will need to specify the drive for burning discs. Then you just need to insert a blank disk into the specified drive and click on “Burn” to burn the disk image.

Click on “Burn” to burn the image to disk

Conclusion

In this material, I looked at ways to write files to disk in the context of various operating systems and types of optical disks. As I mentioned above, in most cases there is no need to resort to the help of third-party programs (Nero level and analogues); it will be enough for you to use the built-in tools of the Windows OS, which guarantee decent quality of the recorded discs. Try the tools I have indicated, they have proven their practicality and effectiveness in the daily practice of many users.

How to burn a disc using Windows 7

As you know, there are quite a lot of programs for burning files to CD or DVD, which is worth only Nero. However, sometimes you don’t want to install any additional software, but just quickly burn a disc.

For these cases in Windows 7 there is standard utility. Let's say I already have a blank with information, and I want to write a folder with photographs on it.

To do this, right-click on the folder and select the menu item “Send – DVD RW drive”.

If you are using a disc for the first time, the operating system will prompt you to select the format with which you will burn the disc.

Or as a USB flash drive. That is, you can write, delete and rename files on the disk, just like on a regular flash drive.

Or with a CD/DVD player. The most commonly used format, when information is recorded once, files and folders cannot be renamed or deleted. The second option is the most reliable and proven.

After you decide on the recording format, you need to click the “Next” button.

A window will pop up with the files added to the recording and in order to start it you need to click “Burn to CD”.

In the next window, indicate the disk name and recording speed and click the “Next” button.

Recording to the disc has started, you need to wait a while.

After the recording is completed, you will receive a message that all files have been successfully written to this disk.

Don't forget to click on the "Done" button.

As you can see, burning a disc through Windows is not so difficult.

How to burn files to disk

Despite the variety of different removable media information, discs (CDs and DVDs) are still popular storage devices.

You can transfer (write) any information to disk, be it text documents, photo or video files, audio tracks. The only limitation is disk space. If you have a CD (DVD)-R disc in front of you, then you can only use it once for recording. If you work with a CD (DVD)-RW, you can repeatedly transfer information to it, erasing previous data and writing new ones. What actions must be taken to transfer information to disk?

Writing files to disk: using special programs

Applications that can help you transfer files from your personal device to disk will also help solve a number of other problems. Among them are the processing of audio, video and graphic files, copying hard drives.

Ultra ISO

An “easy” application, the technique of working with which will be clear even to a beginner.

  • Download and install UltraISO program.
  • You launch it.
  • In the window that appears, find the necessary files in the Catalog and drag them into the top “File name” field.
  • Press the “Burn” button (icon of a burning disk).
  • A new field will open in which you click the “Record” button.

Nero

The application is popular and quite often used to record data.

  • Install Nero (official paid version- http://www.nero.com/rus/?vlang=ru).

  • Select the data that needs to be copied and transfer it to empty window drive.
  • When copying is complete, end the session by clicking “End Session.”
  • Wait for the message (in the lower right corner of the monitor) that the session has ended and the drive can be used on other devices.
  • How to clean your computer so Windows 7 doesn't slow down

For novice computer users, it is possible to record on external media information, such as CDs and DVDs, poses some difficulties. However, there are very, very many ways to record. I will highlight two methods: standard and through special program for working with disks - Nero.

The first method is to transfer the files to a disk folder. Such files are being prepared for writing, but are not being written yet! Once the files are ready to be written to disk, when you click on write, all the files are written to disk at once. Then such files cannot be deleted separately. To delete a file from a disk, you will first need to save all the files on your computer, clean the disk, re-prepare those files that need to be written, and, in fact, write them.

Burning discs

So now let's try burning the files to the new drive.

First way- standard.

Insert the disc into the drive, open "Start">"Computer">"DVD RW drive" (or CD RW drive).

Let's take advantage of the most the usual method recording discs (“With CD/DVD player”). Enter the name of the disk (for example, "MyDisc"). Click "Next". A folder opens into which you need to drag files from your computer and prepare them for writing. After this, the folder will look like this:

After that, right-click and select “Burn to disk”.

After that, enter the name of the disk and click the “Next” button.

Then, we wait for the files to be written to disk. Typically, recording time on a DVD-RW disc is 30 minutes. But not always. Much depends on the selected recording type and volume.

To complete the recording procedure, click the "Finish" button.

The disc was successfully burned!

Second way can only be used if the computer has Nero program(tested on Nero 7).

You just need to look at the following icon on your computer desktop, or in the "Start">"All Programs">"Nero 7 Ultra Edition">"NeroStartSmart" menu.

If there is such a program, then we launch it accordingly (if Windows 8 is installed, we launch it using the administrator). Next, click on the left arrow to expand the functionality of the program (a list of programs is displayed).

Then, move the mouse pointer (do not click anywhere) on the items “Data”> “Create DVD with data”.

On the left in the “Open with:” window, select the “Nero Express” program. and click on green arrow on right:

Nero Express will open. In the empty field in the center of the program you need to move files from your computer that need to be written to disk. At the bottom there is an indicator of recording availability. On this moment you can record a volume of information of no more than 4500 MB (highlighted green). If the amount of information exceeds the permissible norm, the indicator shows that there is “excess” information. It is necessary to reduce the amount of information, because it doesn't fit on the disk. After this, click the “Next” button.

Enter the name of the disk, put two checkmarks, according to the figure below, and click “Burn” (when burning a one-time CD/DVD-R disc, it is better not to check the first checkbox, because if errors occur during recording, a lot of problems will appear, as a result which the disk may be damaged)

This way, you can be sure that the information will be opened on another computer (or device).

In the future, if there is space left on the disk, it will be possible to write more data. If you turn off the second checkbox for creating a multisession disk, then the empty space on the disk is filled and no information can be written to the disk in the future.

Click "Record".

A window opens with current write operations to the disk.

How to burn music to a disc for a car radio

Once upon a time, a radio in a car symbolized the status of the owner and his financial capabilities, but now those models of car radios that were previously dreamed of and admired are practically antiques compared to modern car media systems.
But since the price of a more or less decent media center does not meet the needs of motorists who do not express much desire to become the owners of the next and expensive new product of technological progress, most of them prefer to use car radios with a CD drive. As a result, each of them faces the question of how to record music for a car radio.

Preparing for recording

Recording format

In order to avoid any overlaps when the radio plays back the recorded “blank”, we need to find out in what format to record the disc for the car radio. This information contains a user manual attached to the device, which describes all formats read by the car radio.
The most common and widespread formats are CDA, WAV, MP3. CDA is a common format for music CDs and is readable by all CD drives.
The following two formats require certain playback decoders in the car radio for their playback. In addition, the WMA format (unlike MP3, which saves an audio file by its “weight”) records a composition according to its current time, that is, on a standard CD “blank” in WMA format It is possible to save only 80 minutes of recording.
This information should also be taken into account if you record music onto a flash drive for a car radio.

Disc selection

First criterion

All CD discs are divided into two categories: CD and DVD. Some users believe that only video files can be placed on DVD discs; this is an incorrect statement; they can just as easily be recorded on it as music files, as well as other types of information (photos, pictures, texts, etc.).
It's all about the capacity of the disc; a CD format disc can only hold 800 megabytes of information, while a DVD disc can accommodate up to 8.5 gigabytes of data (for a comparison of information measurement units, see the following photo).

In this case, you need to make sure in advance that your car radio can play CD DVDs format, but CD format discs are read by all players without exception. On sale you can sometimes find mini discs, which are also divided into CD format with a capacity of 210 megabytes and DVD format with a capacity of 1.4 gigabytes.

Second criterion

The next criterion is the ability to rewrite a CD multiple times, their labeling tells us this:

  • CD-R and DVD-R discs can be “burned” only once;
  • CD-RW and DVD-RW allow you to rewrite information of any type up to fifty times.

Third criterion

One of important indicators Another property of a disk is its writing speed. We must assume that higher speed will be preferable for us, however, we should not forget that maximum speed The “burning” of the burner may vary depending on the disc format.
Yes, speed CD-R recordings is considered 52x (that is, 7600 Kbps), CD-RW is from 4x to 32x, DVD-R is recorded at a speed from 2x to 16x, and DVD-RW is from 2x to 8x.

Fourth criterion

Among other things, you should pay attention to the way CDs are packaged. Naturally, you should give preference to discs packed in an individual box, since placing several discs on one tube does not contribute to their durability.
You should also pay attention to the markings on the front side of the CD:

  • “Printable” means that the image can be printed on the outside of the disk by a printer;
  • “Lightscribe” also allows images to be printed on the front side, but in the drive itself;
  • "Hardcoated" means that the recording surface of this disk special applied protective covering allowing to extend his life ten times.

Burning a disc

In addition to the above information, you should take into account the fact that there are currently “old” and “new” CD file systems. And if the “old” file system (ISO 9660, also known as CDFS) for the vast majority of MP3 players is familiar and extremely understandable, then the “new”, more “advanced” UDF file system for the same majority of car radios is an unreadable recording format.
This situation complicated by the fact that most programs for burning CDs (especially new ones) by default write them in the new file system - UDF, which for some car owners is an unpleasant surprise.
Fortunately, there are countless programs for burning and ways to burn a disc, which allows you to avoid this embarrassment. During recording, you only need to carefully consider the choice of the CD file system or, as a last resort, reformat the music files in the converter.

So, to burn a CD, first you need to download and install the necessary software on your computer. software, for example, such as: Ashampoo Burning Studio, Astonsoft DeepBurner, CDBurnerXP, Free Easy CD DVD Burner, Nero, Small CD-Writer and many more etc.
By by and large The algorithm for burning a CD in all programs is the same and intuitive:

  • In the main window of the program we launched, we are offered several actions to choose from. Select a column similar in meaning to “Create Audio CD”, “Create MP3 disc”, for example:
  • In the next window, add audio files or selected folders prepared for recording using the “Add” button or simply dragging the desired file into the program window.

At the bottom of the window there may be a scale by which you can visually determine how much of the total amount the added files have occupied and how much disk space is still left:

  • If there is still space left on the disk, add a few more files if desired. If the established limit on the volume of recorded information is exceeded, it is necessary to delete extra files, for which we select the file and press the “Delete” button:
  • Next, in the program, select your burning CD/DVD drive (you can verify the name of the drive by looking at the My Computer menu):
  • If desired, assign a name to the disc being recorded;
  • In the presence of additional settings select the recording speed (in order to prevent errors from appearing during recording, it is not recommended to select a speed of more than 8x);
  • To check the recorded disc for errors, check the appropriate box;
  • If there is an item “Copy all data to the image on HDD computer" files in the form of an image will first be copied to the hard drive, and only after that will they begin to be written to the drive. IN in this case the recording process slows down noticeably, but the likelihood of an error occurring in the recorded information is reduced to almost zero;
  • By allowing the program to create a multisession disc, you have the opportunity to add information to the disc without erasing previously recorded information. But as practice shows, when using this option there is a high probability of disk failure:
  • Next, press the “Burn disc” or “Start burning” button, after which the actual recording process will begin, which you can track on the operation progress bar.

Recording music to a flash drive

Next we find removable drive, right-click on it and insert the files:

Advice! The following make working with files much easier: standard operators commands:

  • Ctrl+A – Select;
  • Ctrl+C – Copy;
  • Ctrl+X – Cut;
  • Ctrl+V – Paste.

You can also record music onto a flash drive for your car radio using file managers, such as "Total Commander".

Using the photo as an example, you can understand that in the left column of the main program window there are files prepared for recording, and in the right is the place where we want to transfer them. The copying process is activated by simply dragging and dropping necessary files to the icon removable disk, as well as using the “F-row” hotkeys located at the bottom of the main manager window.
This completes the instructions on how to burn music to a disc and flash drive for a car radio, enjoy your listening!
