Application for watching TV shows Windows background

Do you know that in order to watch terrestrial TV channels, it is not at all necessary to buy a TV, install an antenna, satellite dish or connect cable TV? It is enough to install on your smartphone, tablet or computer an application that contains different channels.

We will tell you about one of them - Tellyview - today.

Tellyview app is universal - it is released on Windows Phone and Windows. There are several dozen channels available, different for various countries. For example, if you select Russian as the interface language, you will be presented Russian channels, and if Ukrainian, then Ukrainian-speaking. Music and sports channels are common to all countries, because the language is not so important there.

Some popular channels cannot be detected in Tellyview. As a rule, these are the ones that can be watched on paid subscription and whose owners prohibit embedding them into similar applications(for example, NTV-Sport, TNT and erotic). But this does not mean that you cannot watch them for free. The thing is that Tellyview supports streaming videos from playlists in m3u8 format, and instructions for adding channels to a playlist can be found by the developer or on thematic forums.

Some channels do not show video immediately after switching on, but after a short delay. This is not an application bug, but a feature streaming video - it takes some time to cache some of the data. If you have slow Internet, the broadcast will periodically freeze, so it is recommended to use the application only on Wi-Fi and LTE networks. The application supports Russian, Ukrainian, English, German and French. Each language has its own set of channels.

What’s convenient is that the channels you watch more often than others can be added to your favorites, and their list will open immediately after launching Tellyview. You can even pin your favorite channels to start screen smartphone or computer - to open them without going into the application.

The Tellyview application is paid, it costs $1.29 or 44 rubles, which is much cheaper subscription fee to cable television. As already mentioned, it is universal, which means that to install it on a smartphone with Windows Phone, as well as on a tablet or laptop with Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, you only need to make a one-time purchase.

Agree, it would be great to use your smartphone as a portable media center. And if the release of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL marked the replacement of the PC with a smartphone, then few people know that almost any Lumia running on Windows Phone 8 can be connected to a TV or PC via Wi-Fi. Present your photos, videos, music and other files on big screen! In this case, to set up you only need a single Wi-Fi network, modern TV, and, of course, the Lumia smartphone.

On this moment There are at least three connection methodsLumia to external media broadcasters: devices support DLNA orMiracast, as well as purchasing a set-top boxLumia HD-10.

The technique of the first two is similar, the only difference is accessibility. To use DLNA, you will need any Lumia smartphone with Windows Phone 8 and a TV that works with this standard. With Miracast it’s almost the same, but the technology itself must also be supported by the Lumia smartphone! Why such injustice? Perhaps the fact is that technologies appeared on the market in different time. DLNA came out in 2003 and is still supported by most manufacturers today, while Miracast is relatively new standard, approved Wi-Fi integration Alliance only in 2012. However, Miracast has an undeniable advantage over DLNA - devices connect to each other directly.

Setting up DLNA onWindows Phone 8.1

So, we need:

1) TV with DLNA support. Today this is not a problem, back in 2009 similar devices 200 million copies were sold worldwide. If your TV connects to the Internet or supports Smart TV, then it most likely has DLNA too.

Important! You may need to additionally download software for your TV from the manufacturer's website.

2) Lumia smartphone with Windows 8 or newer version of this operating system. There shouldn't be any problems here, since Microsoft tries to release timely updates to all its devices.

3) Modern Wi-Fi router

Important! The devices must be connected to the same network.

Before you start connecting, visit the Windows Phone Store to download Lumia app Media center. By the way, it will help not only stream media files from your smartphone, but also transfer data from OneDrive.

Lumia Media Center is an extremely easy to learn application. The interface is divided into three main categories: photos, videos and music. Before choosing what you need, go to the program settings and indicate the device to which you would like to stream content from Lumia.

Important! During the broadcast, sound, like the image, is transmitted through the speakers of the TV or music center.

If all conditions are met, there should be no problems with the setup. In the same way, you can connect Lumia to a PC, but for this you will need to delve a little deeper into Windows settings Media Player. Don't worry - it's even easier than turning on DLNA on your TV. It is noteworthy that in this way all devices in the house can be combined into one network. Once you set up DLNA, you can stream media from PC to TV, Lumia to PC, or Lumia to TV.

SettingsMiracast

This connection method is much simpler and quite intuitive. You will need:

1) Lumia phone, which supports Miracast.

It should be noted that after the releaseWindows Phone 8.1 broadcast images from a smartphone to the screenTV orPC learned any modelLumia, though throughUSB cable. Here's the supportMiracast only went to new devices, for example, modelsLumia 1520, 930 or 630.

2) TV with Miracast.

The devices connect directly to each other, so the first thing we do is go to the TV settings to activate Miracast and Wi-Fi. Since TVs have different tastes and colors, I suggest you find the right options in the menu yourself. With Lumia, everything is much more prosaic: in the list of applications, select “Settings” > Screen Projector, and then select the device you want to connect with.

Unlike DLNA, Miracast broadcasts everything from the smartphone screen, not just separate files and folders. You can safely play games on a large TV screen, watch videos or movies, using a variety of media applications such as ivi.ru, YouTube, Netflix, Vimeo, Vine. Not to mention your entire media library and web surfing on the big screen.

Detailed connection instructionsMiracast can be found on the official websiteMicrosoft.

ReceiverMicrosoft Screen Sharing for Lumia Phones HD-10

And finally, it’s the turn of a very interesting accessory from Microsoft - the Lumia HD-10. If your TV or monitor does not support Miracast by default, but is quite capable of handling Full HD and boasts an HDMI connector, then the HD-10 will come in handy.

The device connects directly to the TV via HDMI and displays the image on the screen either thanks to setting up Miracast, or through the NFC disk that comes with the set-top box. The disk itself is removable, it can be stored in any convenient place, and to connect Lumia, you just need to touch it with the smartphone body.

Important! WITH using Microsoft Screen Sharing for Lumia Phones HD-10 can be connected to almost any Miracast-enabled smart device.

Next, follow the menu settings. Microsoft tried to describe everything possible steps as simple as possible and in pictures. HD-10 helps you broadcast content from everyone Windows devices. The capabilities of the set-top box allow you to display Full HD images from Lumia smartphones simple and hassle-free.

As you can see, it’s not at all difficult to expand the media boundaries of your Lumia - if only you had the desire. The above methods connections will allow you to have fun not only at home, but also while traveling, in a hotel, and in general, wherever you are. With Lumia, your favorite apps, movies, music and photos are always with you and available at any time, even on the big screen!

After updating to Windows Phone 8.1, support appeared DLNA technologies. As far as I know, then in old version this mobile operating system, DLNA technology was not available. I updated mine a long time ago Nokia Lumia 925 to Windows Phone 8.1, and today I will be happy to tell you how to set up DLNA. We will broadcast photos, videos and music over the air to the big TV screen from our Windows Phone.

Of course, I already checked everything, took photographs and screenshots. I set everything up using the example Nokia phone Lumia 925, and LG 32LN575U TV. Both devices were connected to Wi-Fi networks, from the router. Everything works just fine. True, the video kept stopping and loading. But I think that the problem is that the router is not very powerful, or that my TV is located a little far from the router and the network there is not very stable.

We will need:

  • TV with DLNA technology support. Now this is no longer a problem. If your TV has the ability to connect to the Internet (via cable or Wi-Fi), then DLNA support most likely exists. And if there is a Smart TV, then it definitely is.
  • Phone (or tablet) that runs Windows Phone 8.1 (or more new version this OS) . If you have more Windows Phone 8, then you can check if there is an update for your device (settings – phone update).
  • Wi-Fi router. To which you can connect your phone and TV.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the phone and TV must be connected to the same network (to one router). Telephone . TV can also be , or .

If everything is connected, then you can continue.

Setting up DLNA on Windows Phone 8.1 (Nokia Lumia)

First, we need to install an excellent program from the application store Lumia Media Center. With the help of which we will send photos, videos and music to the TV.

Open Shop, and click on the search button. Dial Lumia Media Center (or you can just DLNA), and select the Lumia Media Center app. Click on the button Install to install the program.

After installing the program, find it in the list of applications and launch it.

You will see a description of the program. Click on the forward arrow to skip. Next, click on the three dots in the lower right corner to open the menu. Select to plug. Where it is written broadcast on, your TV should appear. Just select it and you will be returned to main screen programs.

On the main screen of the program we see three items: photos, videos and music. Depending on what content we want to send to the TV, select the desired item.

Stream photos from your phone to TV

For example, choose a photo. Then the album we need and click on any photo. By the way, it is possible to broadcast content stored in OneDrive.

The photo will immediately appear on the TV. You can switch them using the arrows at the bottom of the screen on your smartphone.

It looks like this:

We output video and music in exactly the same way.

While playing music, a screen saver with the name of the song was displayed on my TV (but you can’t see it in the photo :)).

Everything works just fine and without any problems.

Afterword

If you have a phone of a different model, there is nothing to worry about. We do everything according to the instructions. If another TV (different model, or even different manufacturer), everything will work out just the same. The main thing is that everything is connected correctly and that the TV supports DLNA technology.

A great way to display photos or videos on the big screen. Or listen to music. Especially if your TV is connected acoustic system. And most importantly, all this is absolutely wireless!
