The first household version with the index 820A appeared only in 1956 , after Voice of The Theater was established as the world standard for use in cinemas in 1953. The popular option most commonly found in home systems today typically includes an Altec 288 driver, Altec 515 woofer, 828 cabinets, and 511 horn, but many other combinations exist. “Voices” is distinguished by a soulful and very believable presentation of vocals and live instruments, helped by the fact that the horn driver reproduces the entire range from 500 Hz and above. On the other hand, at the edges of the frequency range they no longer feel so confident, hence numerous attempts to improve them with the help of tweeters and even subwoofers. In fact, such handwriting is natural for these speakers, so they should be accepted as they are.

JBL 4343/4345/4350


The JBL 43 series was created for work in studios, and not at all for home use. However, as often happens, it received its legendary status precisely after it became widespread in Hi-Fi systems audiophiles, especially in Japan. Studio workers, on the contrary, often criticized the large four-way monitors of this series for their excessive emotionality, saying that listening to music on them is very pleasant, but not always working. Nevertheless, the 43rd series found its place in many recording studios, and as they were written off and entered the homes of music lovers, a real hunt began for the remaining copies. The world's first acoustic systems with diffusers made of pure beryllium appeared on the market in... 1976. It is not surprising that they were produced by a Japanese company; in those years, manufacturers in the Land of the Rising Sun actively experimented with different materials when creating loudspeakers. Therefore, the Japanese were the first to make diffusers made of metal, which is considered one of the most advanced for the production of speakers.
