Appearance and comfort

Color display and touch keyboard- this is a new implementation on Russian market cash register equipment. The device itself is slightly larger than the old Chinese Tetris, and weighs even capacious batteries not much more. Easy to hold with one hand. And using the keyboard is a pleasure. True, the manufacturers did not include a strap, like for example the Mercury 180.

However, there is a drop of salt in a barrel of oil - you can connect the device to a PC (for example, to enter a product database) only through shared network using a router. If you come across a Pioneer-114 with Wi-Fi module, then it’s not difficult, but running with a cable to the router and back is not very convenient. This is what prevented us from making a USB connector, as was done, for example, on the ATOL 90F.

The device itself has a very pleasing design to the eye. And it is comfortable to hold in your hands. The power supply of the device is interesting: if you connect batteries with an output of 1.2V, then the device itself will work perfectly, but the thermal printer will not have enough power. So pay attention to the power of the batteries when purchasing.

Cashier display

Liquid crystal color display with excellent resolution, brightness and contrast.

All symbols are clearly visible, and letters and numbers are readable without problems. Despite the small size of the display, a lot of symbols fit. And the fact that each line of characters has its own color allows you not to get confused in the data on the screen.

Pioneer-114F is the only mobile cash register with clear symbols displayed on the display. And this is one of the most significant advantages of this device. Many cash register devices display only ciscal values ​​at most, but with Pioneer everything is clear and no decoding is required.

There is no backlight, although when you turn on the device the light comes on for a couple of seconds.

Among the disadvantages of the screen: it is not readable at an angle of more than 45 degrees, and it produces reflections in bright sunlight.

Keyboard

The first used on a cash register in Russia touch keyboard.

The keyboard has special recesses that allow your fingers to rest comfortably.

It is very inconvenient to punch out a receipt: to complete it, it requires not 2 clicks, as on most cash registers, but 4 (!): enter, enter, pay, enter

The sensitivity of the keyboard sensor is adjustable, but if you are not used to it, this principle of typing characters will still temporarily seem inconvenient, especially to the touch. Keyboard covered protective film, which should protect the hardware from water penetration, but I still wouldn’t recommend spilling coffee or anything stronger on the Pioneer-114.

Connecting to devices

The first of the portable cash registers that has a USB port for connecting a barcode scanner.

You can also connect a regular USB keyboard via USB, which is convenient when filling the product database through the device.

To connect to the Internet there is Ethernet port. The same port is used to program the device via a computer.

Perfect fit for Pioneer-114F USB scanners barcodes operating on the Plug and Play principle. Both 1D and 2D scanners can be connected without any problems. For the product scanning function when selling, do not forget to set the barcode for the desired product in the product database.

Connecting to a computer and setting up a database

Connection to a computer is possible via local network. To do this, you need to connect the device via an Ethernet cable to the router, and connect the computer from the same router. The process is described in more detail in this manual.

Ditto for direct connection You can use an Ethernet Crossover cable. The cable can be ordered from us, or purchased at any computer store.

To create a product database, use special program from the developers of KKT - Pioneer Utility. The program allows you to download ready-made spreadsheets in .csv format. The utility also allows you to configure other cash register options, but this functionality is completely duplicated by Pioneer-114F itself.

The product database in Pioneer-114F can also be entered through the device itself - in the section " Programming", under account "Administrator"The process is as simple as two pennies:

• in " Nomenclature"press the product key;
• enter sequentially: serial number, name, barcode, department and price;
• After entering the data, select " Write down".

Printer

The cash register has an excellent Japanese (yes, “made in Russia”) thermal printer from Fujitzu, which prints on a 57 mm wide receipt tape.

Characters are printed clearly. There are a few simple settings to adjust the brightness and font size.

Installation of the receipt tape is done in one movement, the main thing is to press the top cover well.

Battery

The Pioneer-114F has a compartment for installing four batteries or standard AA batteries.

Depending on the installed batteries can work for a very long time, and you don’t need to look for where to recharge the device.

Using a connected scanner may affect battery life.

Using AA batteries instead of a battery is very effective - you can buy batteries anywhere, and charge the battery in field conditions not always possible. To operate in station mode, you can simply connect the Pioneer-114F to a 220 volt network via a power adapter.

Impression

An excellent device, even despite all the disadvantages. The main thing that makes Pioneer-114F attractive is easy setup and programming, light weight, connection of a barcode scanner, excellent quality printing and operation from regular AA batteries. And don't forget about appearance and a price that doesn't put a big dent in your wallet. Almost ideal for a small store or field services.

The device can also be used as a check printing machine without any external reprogramming. To do this, simply disable the fiscal drive.

However, there is one significant drawback that I would like to talk about - the device does not have a slot for SIM cards. But this connector would allow you to use the Pioneer-114F almost anywhere in Russia, where there is at least some kind of cellular. So today the only way to transfer data in this case is to connect the device to the network once every 30 days, or purchase a Pioneer-114F with installed module Wi-Fi.

The manufacturer, of course, promises to release a cash register update with the ability to install SIM cards in 2017, but as of March there is no information on this yet. We will monitor the developing situation.

This cash register is just a little short of an ideal cash register, which is why Pioneer-114 receives the highest score even despite the existing disadvantages.

Comparison with other cash registers

When compared with other mobile cash registers, the Pioneer 114F has many advantages. That's right: touch-sensitive waterproof keyboard, easy to program, can be operated from ordinary AA batteries, good display and ease of handling.

And the disadvantages in favor of the same Mercury 180: larger size and weight, there is no carrying strap and the Pioneer-114 itself is not time-tested. On the other hand, the developers of Mercury (Incotex) are in no hurry to enter the market online versions the wonderful Mercury-180, while Pioneer Engineering barely managed to escape from behind such giants as ATOL or Shtrikh-M.

Compared to Shtrikh-Mpey-F, Pioneer-114F also has a number of advantages and disadvantages. Shtrikh-Mpey-F easily updates the firmware when connected to the Internet; in Pioneer you need to use a programmer for this. And the size of the box office is not comparable. On the other hand, bringing goods into the Pioneer-114F database is much easier than performing this operation on Shtrikh-M products. And it’s much easier to find Pioneer-114F on sale than Shtrikh-Mpey.

In any case, it’s worth paying attention to this CCP model. Perhaps you will just like it.
