How to create GIF animation of photos. The best services to make beautiful GIFs online. Service for creating GIF from video

Making a GIF is actually not that difficult if you have the Photoshop graphics editor installed. With this program we can make a GIF from a photo or video by converting it.

Don't despair if you don't have Photo programs shop. At the end of the article, we will look at another method that will allow you to make a GIF from photos (it won’t work with a video) in the free PhotoScape program.

How to make a GIF from a photo in Photoshop?

Open Photoshop. In the “File” tab, select “Scripts”, and then “Load files into stack...”. In the window that appears, select the images (photos, pictures) that will make up the animation.

After the layers appear in the list on the right, click on the top “Window” tab, then “Timeline”. In the center of the panel that appears, select “Create Frame Animation.”

Make the first layer visible, hide the rest by clicking on the “eye”. You will receive the first frame of the GIF with the desired image.

Next, copy this layer in the panel as many times as you have in total photos that you want to insert into the animation. After copying the layers, you will notice that they will all be the same (logical), because... The first layer is still visible, and the rest are also hidden.

Now we do the following: click on the second layer in the animation panel - make ONLY the second layer visible in the main work list of layers. Third frame of animation - make ONLY the third layer visible, the rest are hidden.

Where "about sec." install any right time to play opposite each frame.

To display frames continuously, we need to select the “Continuous” value. Just below where we selected the playback time for each layer, there is a window for selecting loop parameters.

We can say that the gif from the photo is ready. All that remains is to save it correctly. To do this, in the “File” tab, click “Export”, then select “Save for Web ( old version)...". A window will open, at the top of which select required format– GIF. You can edit below original size, if you do less (in percentage), then the weight will also decrease.

How to make a GIF from a video in Photoshop?

Open Photoshop, in the “Files” tab, select “Import”, then “Video Stills”. In the window that opens, select the range of video that we want to convert into GIF. If you want to convert the entire video, select “From start to end”; if you want to convert a certain part, select “Selected range only.” In the second case, to the right you need to select a video segment that will be converted into layers.

If the video is heavy, it is better to set the value 2 in the “Leave each...” column. If it is more than 2, then the smoothness of frame transitions will suffer. If it’s not important, then 4 can be used, as in my case.

Next, in the “Window” tab, select “Timeline”. All layers for future animation. It is noteworthy that in this case we do not separate layers into visible/invisible, as was the case when creating GIFs from photos. Those. immediately the layers in the animation panel should be different and, of course, in the correct order. We simply set the frame playback time (if necessary) and the cycle parameters time to “Constant”. Click “Play”. The GIF from the preview video in Photoshop will already work as it should.

Now we save it in the same way as a regular gif from a photo: To do this, in the “File” tab, click “Export”, then select “Save for Web (old version) ...”. A window will open, at the top of which select the desired format - GIF. Below you can edit the number of colors (the more, the better quality), the original size... If you make it smaller (as a percentage), the weight will also decrease. Don’t forget to click “Save” and select a location to store the file. All is ready!

How to make a GIF from a photo easily and simply?

If the option with Photoshop doesn’t suit you: something doesn’t work out or it’s simply not installed, then you can go the other way. In one of our old articles we discussed. It was just mentioned there PhotoScape program. I can't help but repeat myself, but she is truly one of the best of her kind. Inspiration and success!

Good day to all!

Quite often I get asked questions about pictures. True, I am not an expert in drawing and photo editing, etc., but I am familiar with the basic techniques more or less ☺.

In this article I want to focus on several ways to create GIF animations. If anyone doesn’t know, it seems like regular picture GIF format, but it plays like a video: i.e. it changes dynamically (example in the first picture in the article, on the left).

To make such pictures, you don’t need to have any special skills, just desire and a few minutes of time are enough. In this article I will consider several sources for creating such GIF images: videos, photos and pictures.

From my experience, by the way, I will say that the most popular are “GIFs” created from frames of a popular film or pictures. GIFs from photos are less popular; they are usually used to create avatars.

So, let's get down to business...

Note! The article will not teach you how to do professional GIF animations. All methods in the article are given for the novice user, they are as simple and effective as possible. So that anyone in 5-10 minutes. got the desired result!

From the video

Program used - Video Master

(approx. : The "Video Master" program is included in the "Video Studio" package)

One of best programs for converting, compressing and trimming videos. It is very easy and simple to use, even for completely novice users (which is why I recommend sticking with it).

As for our task: in its set of functions there is one we need - “GIF creation”. That's what I'll look at below...

And so, the question of downloading and installing the program I’m omitting the Master video (I think there won’t be any problems with that ☺).

After launching the program, click the "Add" button and add some video or film in which you like some moment (and from which you want to make an animation).

Note! It is advisable not to make the animation longer than 30 seconds. If you add big video, for example, a whole film - then we will select a specific 20-30 second moment from it and make a GIF from it...

The next step is choosing the moment from which we will make the animation. To do this, rewind approximately to the place where you want to set the beginning of the animation: then use the play button to turn on the video playback and press the start button - when you reach the desired frame. Next, when you decide that you need to complete your selected piece from the video on the next frame, click the end button - .

When the video clip is selected, click the "Next" button.

Now you need to select the size of the animation. In this regard, the program is quite flexible: you can set it as standard size for an avatar, for example, 250 by 250 pixels, 200 by 200, and indicate that specific size V manual mode(which is what I did in my example).

By the way, in the same step you can see what the gif will look like.

The last step: you need to specify the number of frames per second and their playback speed. After the settings have been entered, you can immediately evaluate how the picture quality will change.

How more quantity frames - the smoother the picture, and the more space it will take up. Long GIF animations can reach up to several tens of MB!

Actually, my animation is ready (example below). Quite good for a person who does this from big occasion to big one (in my opinion)...

Ready gif...

By the way, if you want to create your own video from a photo, I recommend reading this article: . And, by the way, then you can also make an animation from this video (as in the example above) ...

From photos and pictures (on the computer)

Recommend here how to create animations in large graphic editors(like Photoshop or Gimp) - I won't. Firstly, not everyone has them (and the packages are still large in size), and secondly, using them is not so easy, even to create the simplest GIF. Here and now I will show you a very simple way to create a GIF from pictures and photos, in just a few clicks of the mouse!

Required program: Photo Scape

An excellent free program for working with pictures: it will allow you to view all popular graphic formats, edit them, compress them. In addition, you can create a collage, animation, add frames, create screenshots, change colors, etc. In general, in this program you can solve hundreds of the most popular problems with pictures.

As for animations, working with them in Photo Scape is a pleasure. Of course, there aren’t hundreds of tools here, but the ones that are there allow you to create a GIF in a couple of minutes (even for those who launched the program for the first time)!

So, let's get down to business.

After launching the Photo Scape program, you will see a whole wheel of possibilities: editor, viewer, page templates, combination, batch editor, RAW converter, etc. Select an option (see screenshot below).

In the center of the screen while editing - You will always see how your animation changes (it will play automatically).

On the right you can set the basic settings of the animation: its playback time (for example, 1, 2, 3 seconds), set the effect (so that the picture dissolves against the background of another or moves away, I have two examples below), specify the size of the picture, background color, what to align with, etc.

Of course, the program doesn’t have many editing tools, but they are all detailed and easy to use! Actually, when your GIF is perfected, just click the button "Save" (in the menu on the right).

By the way, Photo Scape makes GIFs quite small in size, optimized for website pages. Below I give a couple of examples of animations with different effects made in this program. I think it's very cool!

Effect 1. Fill the frame with background

Effect 2. Move the frame down

From photos and pictures (online method)

A very easy and simple way to create animation from a wide variety of pictures and photos is to upload them to this site. The service will automatically play them one by one.

You just need to specify the width and height of the picture, and the speed of its playback. Next, you can download the resulting animation. I also want to note one detail: the service understands PNG images With transparent background: i.e. during animation, it will not “remove” the previous picture completely, but will combine both pictures (example below).

By the way, I made the logo for this post on this service.

Another site with simple and quick creation animation. All that is required of you is to upload several pictures in sequence (or at least one). Then select the dimensions of the future animation (for example, 200 by 200 pixels), and click the "Create" button. In a couple of moments, you will see the result (which you can download to your PC).

By the way, this service has small ready-made effects. For example, you can upload your photo and add a frame, hearts, etc. You can make an excellent avatar for a forum or VK. It turns out very cool!

Animation effects: hearts, shades of gray, frames

An example of a created GIF animation with hearts on this site.

English-language animation creation service. To create an animation, you also need to upload several pictures in sequence and click the create button. But then... the service offers you dozens of options for editing the resulting result: you can change the size of the picture, crop it, rotate it, optimize it, add effects, change the playback speed, trim the edges, add text inscription, edit almost every frame.

In general - a huge package of tools, like in a real big image editor (example in the screenshot below).

Good luck to all!

3. Create layers

Animated GIFs appear "animated" by combining multiple static images/layers into loops. You need to create each of these layers.

To create a GIF like the example with text as the animated part, you need:

  • Remove all inscriptions from the original image and leave only the background, borders, etc.
  • Add the first line of text: “Just imagine!” (Guess what!)
  • Download the resulting image.

After that:

  • Don't touch anything else. It is important! If you move elements or text between layers, you won't get smooth animation.
  • Add a second line of text: “I made this GIF.”
  • Download the resulting image (you now have two).

Repeat these steps again with last line text “In 75 seconds” and download the resulting image again.

As a result, you have three layers for your future GIF image. You can add as many layers as you like, but it's important to keep the following in mind:

  • You are telling a story.
  • Ensure elements match between layers.
