Installing recovery via adb. Custom versions of Android. Installing custom recovery TWRP and CWM

In the last article I talked about. Today we will continue this topic and talk in detail about custom recovery modes, their advantages over stock ones and how to install them.

What is custom Recovery

Custom recovery is essentially an extended version of the recovery mode in smartphones and tablets. Its main advantage over the stock one is the presence of features that manufacturers usually hide from users in order to protect their devices from “those who like to experiment.”

With custom recovery you can:

  • Make backup copies of various sections of the device’s memory or the entire firmware and restore them accordingly (Backup and Restore items)
  • Install unofficial firmware(Custom Rom)
  • Install unofficial add-ons and patches via the “install zip from sdcard” item
  • Format various memory partitions (Among them are such partitions as: boot - boot partition, system - system partition, data - user data, cache - application cache, sdcard - memory card)
  • Create new partitions on the memory card

The most common versions custom recovery are CWM (developed by ClockworkMod) and TWRP (developed by TeamWin). Both of these consoles have almost equal functionality and the choice of one or another recovery is usually determined by which one is easier to install or by the banal absence or presence of device support.

How to install CWM Recovery

Installation via RomManager

The easiest way CWM installations- this is using the RomManager application. This application can be installed for free from Google Play, and flash CWM from it by selecting “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery” in the main window. From there you can reboot the device into recovery mode by selecting “Reboot into Recovery”. Please note that RomManager requires Root to operate. You can read how to get it.

Attention! Before installing recovery via RomMnager, be sure to check if your device model is in the list of supported ones here https://clockworkmod.com/rommanager. With rash actions you can turn your device into a “brick”!

Installation via Fastboot mode

The “classic” way to install recovery is to flash the recovery.img file directly into the Recovery section of your device via FastBoot mode. This method, unfortunately, cannot claim universality, because It requires an unlocked bootloader. But, firstly, it is not possible to unlock it on all devices, and secondly, not all devices have a Recovery section.

However, if your device meets all the necessary requirements, you can safely use the following instructions.

How to install TWRP Recovery

Installation via TWRP Manager

The easiest way is TWRP, similar to CWM, you can install it using special application TWRP Manager. Here you will also need Root rights.

Installation via ADB

Similar to FastBoot, TWRP can be installed via ADB

  1. Download and install the Android SDK, including packages Android SDK Tools, Android SDK Platform tools and Google USB Driver
  2. Download the Recovery.img file from the TeamWin website (http://teamw.in/twrp_view_all_devices) by selecting your device from the list.
  3. Rename it to twrp.img and copy it to the root of your device's SD card
  4. Connect your device to your computer via USB
  5. Run command Windows string by typing “cmd” in the “Run” field in the “Start” menu
  6. In the window that opens, enter “cd C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\adb”
  7. Enter the following lines:
    su
    dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p34
  8. Reboot your device

Also, TWRP can be installed via FasBoot, in exactly the same way as I described for CWM.

What to do if your device is not on the supported list

Most often, in the absence official support developer, volunteers assemble their versions of CWM. The methods for installing them can vary greatly; it can be installation from an SD card, firmware via Flashtool or Odin (in the case of Samsung devices). On devices with a locked bootloader, installation can also be performed through third-party applications.

You can find out whether it is possible to install a custom recovery on your device and how to do it in special branches on the Russian-language portal 4pda, or the global English-language portal

CWM Recovery(ClockworkMod Recovery) is a small utility that is analogous to standard recovery. The program can help you do full reset phone, install any patches for a smartphone (tablet) or toys, and also knows how to flash mobile devices.

Modrecovery CWM was created by programmer Koushik Dutta. ClockworkMod Recovery supports most Android phones and tablets. IN this post We will tell you in detail about its installation and offer instructions for use. As a rule, modrekaveri is mainly needed for flashing gadgets.

How to install modrecovery?

  • run the SP FLASH TOOL program (previously unpack CWM archive Recovery);
  • in Flashtool, click the “Scatter Loading” button and specify the path to the scatter file (it is located in the unpacked folder along with the modrecovery);
  • in FLASH TOOL, uncheck all the boxes except Recovery; — press the “Download” button (blue arrow) - the smartphone is not connected yet;
  • connect the switched off gadget and wait for the CWM installation to complete;
  • after the green ring appears, the phone can be turned off, CWM Recovery is installed.

How to flash a device usingCWM?

Before flashing, you need to find the appropriate firmware for your device and load it onto the SD card (preferably to the root). Then you need to enter mode recovery mode: to do this, first turn off the device, then when it turns off, simultaneously press the “power/lock” button and the “volume down” button (in most cases, this combination works on all devices, if not, then try with the “increase” button volume") and hold it.

At first, the phone will try to deceive you by lighting up the screen, showing us standard screensaver, but we don’t believe him and keep him until he enters recovery mode. Transition between points CWM menu carried out using the volume keys, selecting an item using the “power” key, back – selecting the item “++++++Go Back+++++”. When you managed to log into CWM Recovery, there are a few steps left to take:

  • select the item “wipe data/factory reset” (reset to factory settings) and “wipe cache” (clear the cache);

  • then when all the wipes have been done, select “Install zip from SD card”
  • in the menu that appears, select “chooze zip from sdcard” and specify the path to the firmware with the *.zip extension;

  • confirm your choice by going to “Yes – Install /sdcard/update.zip”

  • Now the process of flashing the smartphone will begin (at different assemblies during the firmware process there may be additional points that do not relate to CWM and need to be followed); — after completing the firmware, reboot the device by selecting “reboot system now”;
  • That's all, we are waiting for the device to boot (the first boot is long). We are happy with the new firmware.

IMPORTANT

It is strongly recommended to fully charge the gadget's battery before flashing or updating Android, because the update (firmware) process takes about 30 minutes. During the firmware flashing process, the phone will need a lot of energy to complete the task assigned to it, and the display will constantly shine, and at maximum brightness. You never know what can happen if the update (firmware) process is interrupted due to lack of power. You don’t want to get a “brick” instead of a phone, do you?

We are not responsible for any damage caused to your phone if something goes wrong. Good luck!

If you encounter any difficulties or have questions, write in the comments or in a personal message.

Users who do not like the standard recovery menu on Android have great alternative in the form of TWRP Recovery, but a question arises regarding how to install TWRP Recovery.

This version of recovery differs, first of all, in that all its functions are completely touch-sensitive.

That is, you will not need to use the volume buttons and phone menu to select certain items in Recovery.

Often all this is extremely inconvenient and only causes unpleasant emotions. Therefore, many people decide to install TWRP Recovery.

Besides the sensory choice, it has many other benefits. But we won’t consider them now, but instead we’ll talk about installing this custom recovery.

Content:

Option #1. GooManager

This application has now been renamed TWRP Manager. It is one of the simplest, and therefore most convenient, for setting the menu we need.

All actions are performed in the same window. In general, the developers did their best.

The installation process is as follows:

  1. First you need to download the manager to . There is a corresponding link for this.
  2. Next, the application is installed and launched. After this, you should go to the application menu. This is done by swapping to the left.
  3. In this menu you will only have to select “Install TWRP”.
  1. In the next window you just need to click “Install Recovery”.

Rice. 2. “Install Recovery” in the manager

  1. The installation file will be searched. Its name should include the name of your device. For example, if you have Samsung Galaxy S3, then the downloaded file will be called “openrecovery-twrp-1.1.1.1-i9300.img”, and “i9300” here, in fact, means S3 (this is the code this phone).
  2. So, if the name of the downloaded file does not contain the name of your device, you should not install it. It is better to use other methods described below. And if there is, all you have to do is click “Yes” in the message that appears after downloading.

That's all, the process is completed, and you can safely use the new menu.

But it's not that simple.

Attention! To use this program you need root rights.

One of the easiest ways to give your device so-called is to use the Root Checker application.

All you need to do after downloading and installing it is just go to the “Verify root” tab and click on the same inscription a little lower.

Rice. 4. Using Root Checker for assigning root rights

In principle, this is true for almost all the methods described in this review. Therefore, before performing each of them, assign root rights to your device.

This, by the way, is useful in many other cases when you need to add some unusual features.

Now let's get back to installing the recovery.

Option #2. Official TWRP App

Of course, the creators of this beautiful and convenient menu done and own application to install recovery.

But the problem is that often the operating system itself blocks its bootloader.

Therefore, you have to use the above-mentioned manager or other programs, which we will talk about later.

However, you should not try to understand why this happens. You won't succeed. Also don't be afraid unofficial applications to install TWRP.

All of them are absolutely safe, at least those described in this article.

So, to use the Official App, do this:

  1. It all starts, of course, with downloading. Here is the download link on Google Play.
  2. After installation, open the program. In the first window, click on the “TWRP FLASH” button at the bottom.

Rice. 5. “TWRP FLASH” button in the first window of the Official App

  1. In the next window, select your device. To do this, click on the drop-down menu where it initially says “ Select Device» .
  2. Next, click on the “Download TWRP” button to download the installation file. Here the principle is the same as in the first option - if the name of your device is not in the name, then something is wrong. And it's very easy to check. You need to go to the “Download” folder or the place where all downloaded files go and check the recovery file there. When this step is completed, the program may automatically determine what needs to be installed. If this is not the case, then the field under the device will still contain the inscription “Select a file to flash”. Then click on it and select the downloaded installation file.
  3. In the end, you just need to use the “FLASH TO RECOVERY” button.

Rice. 6. Main menu for installing TWRP via the Official App

As we see, in in this case Everything is also quite simple. We recommend trying to use the Official App first. But this does not always work out.

Then you need to take one of the managers mentioned in this article.

And if neither the Official App nor GooManager wants to cope with the task we are considering, then there is also ROM Manager.

Hint: Also, in cases when something doesn’t work out for you, write about it in the comments. We will definitely help you solve the problem and install TWRP.

Option #3. ROM Manager

Using this manager is even simpler than the previous two. The process is as follows:

  1. From the very beginning, the program is downloaded from Google Play. Here is the link . Then it is installed on your smartphone/tablet. This happens in the same way as with any other application.
  2. After launch, a welcome window will appear describing the functions of ROM Manager. Click "OK" to continue.
  3. Next, click on the three vertical dots on the right top corner and select the previously downloaded recovery file. This is what will be installed.
  4. Then in the “Recovery Mode” section, select “Recovery Setup”.
  5. In the next window you will need to click on the item responsible for TWRM (it will be located next to “ClockworkMod Recovery” in the section "Install or Update Recovery").
  6. Finally, in the last window you need to click on “Install”, wait for the download to finish the desired file and its installation. The user can only observe this process, but not participate in it.

Rice. 7. Using ROM Manager

As you can already understand, in this case it is necessary to download it manually in advance. img file, that is, the one that is needed to install recovery.

And you can do this on the official website of this custom extension twrp.me. The download process is as follows:

  1. First you need to go to the me/Devices page and use the search bar to find your device there.
  2. From the suggested options that appear under the search, select the one you need. There can be several .img for one device - they differ depending on the processor model or other features.

Rice. 8. Selecting the installation file on twrp.me

  1. Next scroll the page to the “Download Links” section. If you are in America, click on the link “Primary (Americas)”, and if in other countries, then your option is “Primary (Europe)”.

Rice. 9. “Download Links” section of the twrp.me website

  1. After this, all that remains is to dump the file into memory / or directly to the memory card.

The need to download will be relevant for most similar managers. In particular, this is true for Flashify.

By default, all Android devices have a recovery mode called Recovery. With its help, you can roll back the operating system to standard settings, install official add-ons and fixes. If this is not enough for you and you want to install third-party firmware, kernels and utilities on your device, then the factory recovery needs to be replaced with a custom one.

Custom recovery: what to choose

The most popular custom recoveries for Android are Clockworkmod Recovery(CMD) and TeamWin Recovery (TWRP). The main difference between one program and another is the presence of touch controls in the latter. As for functionality, the software offers approximately the same list of options:

  1. Installation of unofficial patches and firmware;
  2. Connecting the device to a PC in ADB mode and instead of a removable drive;
  3. Formatting, creating, merging partitions in the internal memory of the device;
  4. Clearing software cache and battery life summary;
  5. Creating backup copies of the system.

After studying the methods below, you can easily install custom recovery on Android. You need to obtain Root rights before carrying out work.

TWRP Installation Methods

  • using the ROM Manager program, selecting the “Load Recovery mode” section on its initial page;
  • by pressing the keys simultaneously after turning off the device. Combinations may vary depending on the model and manufacturer of the device. In most cases, these are the volume down and power buttons;
  • by using ADB programs via the adb reboot recovery button.

Possible difficulties

While installing an alternative Recovery Mode, in particular, CWM, various kinds of difficulties and errors may arise. Which of them are the most common and how to solve them?

CWM Recovery does not recognize the memory card

CWM makes it possible to update your phone using an archive. When opening Recovery, the user sees a message that the flash card cannot be mounted. After installing another card, even with less memory, the problem disappears. The reason lies in the Windows system itself. The fact is that it diverges from card formatting standards. To ensure that formatting is done according to the specification of SD/SDHC/SDXC flash cards, and not just to standard form, it is recommended to use specialized software, for example, SD Formatter.

The SD Formatter program allows you to correctly format the SD card

CWM does not see the internal memory of the device: problem solution

When the recovery files are located on the internal memory, and therefore can only be recovered from there, a problem may arise. When you connect the USB cable to the PC and enable USB Debugging, the program reports that the Android device is not detected and you need to enable USB Debugging.

To solve this problem:

  1. Connect the device as a camera, not a storage device. If there are more available options, select them.
  2. Install universal drivers.
  3. Find a more suitable Recovery program for your device.

Recovery menu doesn't work

If when you launch the alternative recovery mode (volume + Home button or power) a picture appears with a lying robot, then the recovery was flashed, but when you restarted the device it was overwritten by the stock Recovery.

The problem is solved as follows.

  1. Before flashing the Odin3 program, you need to uncheck the Auto restart checkbox and disconnect the cable after flashing. From Download mode on the device, go to recovery mode by pressing the volume up + home screen + power keys in sequence until the recovery menu appears. So you should get into the custom recovery menu anyway.
  2. In it, select Reboot system now and then check Yes. This action will overwrite stock recovery custom and the “No command” error will be fixed.

Flash new mode Recovery means acquiring new functionality. Firmware methods vary in complexity, but ironically, the simplest of them require access to Root, that is, device administrator rights. When choosing a firmware method, you need to be guided by the phone model first. Rom Manager is not suitable for all devices. Suitable for HTC more way with FastBoot, and for Samsung it would be better to choose Odin.

Users who are dissatisfied with the operating system on their mobile device are often interested in how to flash Android through Recovery. The installation procedure for most known firmware (ROM) looks identical. The guide below will help you download any ROM or app from a ZIP archive to your Android device using the recovery feature.

Preparing for firmware

The firmware procedure consists of several stages, which include the following: preliminary steps like rooting a smartphone and creating backup copies. You need to keep in mind that the terms “installation”, “installation” and “firmware” are interchangeable (they can mean the same thing). Some of the steps below may not be necessary experienced users, who are well versed in the software of smartphones.

Official ROM updates from device manufacturers are released in the form of convenient installation files that you can run on your computer after connecting your Android device. But firmware from independent developers usually looks like compressed archives ZIP files, not EXE installers or APK files.

Before you start flashing the firmware, you need to make sure that the device's battery is fully charged. Under no circumstances should you proceed with the operation if the charge level is less than 50%. Failure to take this warning seriously may result in irreversible consequences.

There are known cases when a smartphone's battery ran out of charge during the firmware process, resulting in the device being locked and unusable.

The next step only applies to devices equipped with stock operating system Android. It's about about devices such as Nexus One and Nexus S. If you are using other smartphone models, you can skip this step. The owner of a stock system must unlock his bootloader before starting the firmware process. This process will be the same for all Nexus models. After activating the bootloader, you can proceed to the next step.

Now you need to access the Root of your mobile device. If your smartphone has already been rooted, you can skip this step. Before installing the firmware, you must make sure that you have access rights to Root. Rooting is a mode of access to system settings gadget needed to perform complex tasks like a ROM installation. The process of gaining access to Root usually does not vary much between different device models. After successful routing, you can proceed to the next stage.

Installing the recovery function

To flash the firmware, the phone must have a recovery function installed (for example, Android System Recovery 3e). Rooting provides the user with the necessary level of access to perform administrative tasks on their device. Recovery offers the tools needed to actually perform these tasks. Every Android smartphone comes with a built-in recovery feature, but its functionality is usually very limited, so you will need a third-party Recovery to perform additional operations.

The installation process for this feature is usually not very different on different device models. After installing the recovery, you can proceed to the next step.

Now that the recovery feature is installed, you can perform additional operations, including flashing the firmware or installing an application from a ZIP file. The procedure is not much different for most ROMs, although some firmware require a special approach. Since the process may vary for some ROMs, it is recommended to search through a search engine specifically for your firmware.

Installing new firmware

There are 2 ways to install ROM. You can use ROM Manager to determine the steps you need to perform through Recovery, or manually reboot your phone into Recovery mode to complete these steps yourself. The first method seems preferable. If you previously used the rom manager to restore ClockworkMod synchronization, then it is already installed. If you don't have this app on your device, you can download it for free from the Android Market.

You need to follow these steps:

  • Find and download from the Internet the ROM you want to install. This must be an archive with a ZIP extension.
  • Connect the gadget to the computer via USB and install a memory card on it
  • Copy the downloaded ROM to the memory card. It is recommended to place the firmware in the root directory of the removable drive.
  • Launch ROM Manager on your phone.
  • Click “Install ROM from memory card”.
  • Scroll down the screen and tap on ZIP archive containing the ROM. The Installation Queue dialog box appears.
  • If you want to install another ZIP file immediately after ROM, you need to click “Add ZIP”. Then select the next archive that needs to be flashed. You can skip this step if you plan to install only the ROM.
  • Click "OK". The Preview dialog box appears. ROM installation» with backup options existing firmware, clearing data and cache.
  • Be sure to select the "Backup" option. installed ROM"if you don’t want to lose all the files stored on your smartphone.
  • It is necessary to use the "Delete data and cache" option if the ROM that is being flashed is updated version software environment, currently in use. Usually the program will tell you whether it is possible to install a new version over the previous one without deleting data.
  • Answer “OK” several times to different questions. Now the device will reboot and the selected ROM will be installed automatically. The new firmware will be downloaded after the process is completed. You may be prompted to confirm the reboot.

If everything was done correctly, the device should work in normal mode, but with new firmware.

The Android operating system is very stable, but in some cases problems may arise with it. They are usually associated with the operation of the current firmware. There are many ways to flash the firmware; In this article we will look at how to flash Android via Recovery.

There are several main ways to enter this mode:

How to get ROOT rights: Video

Firmware with ROOT access

Let's look at how to install firmware through it. First of all, you need to find and download it as an archive new version firmware.

The gadget will reboot and 8 items will appear in front of the user. Each of them is responsible for a specific operation. For example, if you go to “Wipe / Factory reset"- the system will be reset to factory settings (in some cases, simply by activating this item, you can avoid the need to change the firmware when the device begins to work incorrectly). “Install” makes it possible to install files when this cannot be done from the shell itself.

To install the firmware, you need to go to the “Install” section (it is located in the extreme left corner), select the place where the firmware was downloaded, and start the process.

After some time, the system will report a successful completion, then you will need to exit the “Install” mode and select the “Reboot” mode. There, click on the “System” item: if the entire operation was carried out correctly, the device will boot successfully.

Flashing Recovery mode

Now let's look at the question of how to flash Recovery on Android. To do this you will need to install the so-called CWM Recovery. The easiest way to do this is with the help of a special utility, which can be found in the same Google store Play via this link. In this case, you will also need superuser rights. Having launched the program, you just need to follow its instructions by clicking “Next”. If CWM Recovery is already installed on the system, then the utility will simply ask you to select the appropriate item that performs an action related to flashing or resetting to factory settings.

Anyone who takes the first steps in learning the procedure for flashing Android devices initially pays attention to the most common way to carry out the process - flashing firmware through recovery. Android Recovery is a recovery environment that almost all users of Android devices have access to, regardless of the type and model of the latter. Therefore, the method of flashing firmware through recovery can be considered as the most simple way update, change, restore or completely replace software device.

How to flash an Android device using factory recovery

Almost every device running Android OS is equipped by the manufacturer with a special recovery environment that provides, to some extent, ordinary users, the ability to manipulate the internal memory of the device, or more precisely, its sections.

It should be noted that the list of operations that are available through the “native” recovery installed in devices by the manufacturer is very limited. As for the firmware, only official firmware and/or updates are available for installation.

In some cases, through factory recovery, you can install a modified recovery environment (custom recovery), which in turn will expand the ability to work with firmware.

At the same time, it is quite possible to carry out the main actions for restoring functionality and updating the software through factory recovery. For installation official firmware or updates distributed in the format *.zip, perform the following steps.

1. To install the firmware, you will need an installation zip package. Loading required file and copy it to the device’s memory card, preferably to the root. You may also need to rename the file before manipulation. In almost all cases, the appropriate name isupdate.zip

2. Boot into the factory recovery environment. Methods to access recovery vary for different models devices, but they all require the use of hardware key combinations on the device. In most cases, the desired combination is« Volume-» + « Nutrition» .

Press the "" button on the device that is turned off. Volume-" and, holding it, press the " Nutrition" After the device screen turns on, the “ Nutrition"you need to let go, and " Volume-» Continue holding until the recovery environment screen appears.

3. To install the software or its individual components in the memory partitions you will need the recovery main menu item –« apply update from external SD card» , select it.

4. In the list of files and folders that opens, we find the package previously copied to the memory cardupdate.zipand press the selection confirmation key. The installation will begin automatically.

5. Upon completion of copying the files, reboot into Android by selecting the item in recovery« reboot system now» .

How to flash a device through a modified recovery

Modified (custom) recovery environments have a much wider range of capabilities for working with Android devices. One of the first to appear, and today a very common solution, is the recovery from the ClockworkMod team.

Installing CWM Recovery

Because the recovery CWM, is an unofficial solution; before use, you will need to install a custom recovery environment on your device.

1. Official way recovery installations from the developers of ClockworkMod is an Android ROM Manager application. Using the program requires root rights on the device.

Load ROM Manager into Play Store or from our website

  • Download, install, launch.

  • On the main screen, tap " Recovery Setup» , then under the inscription« Install or update recovery» - paragraph « ClockworkMod Recovery» . Scroll through the list of device models that opens and find your device.

  • The next screen after selecting a model is the screen with the button « Install ClockworkMod»

  • Through a short time the required file will be downloaded completely and the installation process of CWM Recovery will begin. Before you start copying data to the device’s memory section, the program will ask you to grant it root rights. After receiving permission, the process of recording the recovery will continue, and upon completion a message will appear confirming the success of the procedure « Successfully flashed ClockworkMod recovery» .

  • The installation process of the modified recovery is completed, press the button " OK» and exit the program.

2. If the device is not supported by the ROM Manager application or the installation does not proceed correctly, you must use other methods for installing CWM Recovery. Methods applicable to various devices are described in the articles listed below.

  • For Samsung devices, in most cases the application is used Odin. More details here - ( Flashing Samsung Android devices using the Odin program)
  • For devices built on the MTK hardware platform, the application is used Firmware for Android devices based on MTK via SP FlashTool)
  • Most universal method, but at the same time the most dangerous and difficult is flashing recovery via Fastboot . The steps taken to install recovery using this method are described in detail at the link:

Firmware via CWM

Using a modified recovery environment, you can flash not only official updates, but also custom firmware, as well as various components systems represented by crackers, add-ons, improvements, kernels, radio, etc.

It is worth noting the presence large quantity versions of CWM Recovery, so after logging into various devices you can see a slightly different interface - background, design, may be present touch control and so on. In addition, some menu items may or may not be present.

The examples below use the most standard version modified CWM recovery.
At the same time, in other modifications of the environment, when flashing the firmware, items are selected that have the same names as in the instructions below, i.e. A slightly different design should not cause concern to the user.

In addition to design, the management of CWM actions differs in different devices. Most devices use the following scheme:

  • Hardware key " Volume+» - move one point up;
  • Hardware key " Volume-» - move one point down;
  • Hardware key " Nutrition" and/or " Home"- confirmation of choice.

So, firmware.

1. Prepare the zip packages necessary for installation into the device. We download them from Global Network and copy it to the memory card. Some versions of CWM can also use the device's internal memory. Ideally, the files are placed in the root of the memory card and renamed using short, clear names.

2. Enter CWM Recovery. In most cases, the same scheme is used as for entering the factory recovery - pressing a combination of hardware buttons on the switched off device. You can also reboot into the recovery environment from ROM Manager.

3. Before us main screen recovery. Before you start installing packages, in most cases, you need to do " wipe» sections « Cache" And " Data", - this allows you to avoid many mistakes and problems in the future.

  • If you plan to clean only the “ Cache", select the item " wipe cache partition ", confirm the deletion of data - item " YesWipe Cache" We wait for the process to complete – the following message will appear at the bottom of the screen: “ Сache wipe complete».

  • The section “ Data" Select the item “ wipe data/factory reset", then confirmation " Yes – Wipe all user data" Next, the process of cleaning the partitions will follow and a confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the screen: “ Data wipe complete».

4. Let's move on to the firmware. To install the zip package, select “install zip from sdcard» and confirm your choice by pressing the corresponding hardware key. Then select the item “choose zip from sdcard».

5. A list of folders and files available on the memory card opens. We find the package we need and select it. If the installation files were copied to the root of the memory card, you will have to scroll to the very bottom of the list to display them.

6. Before starting the firmware procedure, recovery again requires confirmation of awareness own actions and understanding the irreversibility of the procedure. Select the item “ YesInstall *** .zip", where *** is the name of the package being flashed.

7. The firmware procedure will begin, accompanied by the appearance of log lines at the bottom of the screen and the filling of the progress bar.

8. After the inscription “ Install from sdcard complete"The firmware can be considered complete. Reboot into Android by selecting “ reboot system now" on the main screen.

Firmware via TWRP Recovery

In addition to the solution from the ClockworkMod developers, there are other modified recovery environments. One of the most functional solutions of this kind is TeamWin Recovery (TWRP). How to flash devices using TWRP is described in the article:

This is how Android devices are flashed through recovery environments. It is necessary to take a balanced approach to the choice of recovery and the method of installing them, and also flash only the appropriate packages obtained from reliable sources into the device. In this case, the process proceeds very quickly and does not cause any problems later.
