Review of Philips Hue light bulbs. Magic lights. Subscribe to news

Hello. In his next review I'll tell you about a lamp controlled via Bluetooth from a phone. I know there was a review of her recently. Therefore, I will talk about the lamp from the point of view of a simple layman who picked up this lamp for the first time, and will not measure a spherical horse in a vacuum.

The order was placed on March 18, the store sent it to me on the same day. And on April 19, the lamp fell into my hands:

And also a typical switching diagram for use in lamps like this:

The main driver is a regular driver for LED lamps. The exact same one is in the old lamp, the predecessor of ARILUX. And it is not of particular interest. The only thing is that in ARILUX it is neatly placed in special grooves:

Screw the lamp into the chandelier. Next to it, 2 other seven-watt light bulbs are burning. They shine weaker. In addition, ARILUX has a warmer light. In reality it’s not particularly noticeable, but the camera showed it well, you’ll probably immediately understand where it is:

ARILUX is located at the top left.

This is what they look like various colors in the chandelier:

And all this is controlled via Bluetooth from Android or iOS devices.

And here the fly in the ointment begins again. And not just a spoon, but a whole ladle.

Firstly, you should not download the program using the QR code. Chinese servers have very slow performance. Therefore, it is easier and faster to install the program from the market.

Secondly. To begin with, I installed the program on a phone with Android 4.4.2. And everything would be fine. Everything was managed fine until I tried to create an alarm clock. The program refused to do this and froze. At the same time, Bluetooth began to take on a life of its own. The LBE program randomly turned on and off and began to crash in a row. Only rebooting the phone helped. Maybe, of course, this is a conflict between these two programs, but I didn’t bother to figure it out and installed the control program on a tablet with Android 6.0.1, which lives at home and on which LBE is also installed.

There were no conflicts here. All controls worked, alarms were created... But...

When starting the program, it asked to be turned on GPS tablet for geopositioning. And if other programs, when they were denied this, swallowed the insult and continued to work, then the lamp control program simply closes if you do not turn on the GPS.

Why was this done? Unclear. Yes, during installation the program receives permission to access the Internet. I gave her these rights upon request. And she never once asked to join the network. Therefore, why she needs GPS is doubly unclear.

Okay, let's turn on the GPS. The program starts.

In this window you can select the glow color and brightness:

Alarms are set, but the lamp does not have an alarm memory. Therefore, the alarm will only work if there is a device nearby with the program running. The alarm will turn the lamp on or off, depending on what kind of alarm you have created. More will be written about the alarm clock at the end of the review.

Various color variations are included here:

In the next menu, when playing music on the device, the lamp begins to blink in time with the music. You can see how she does this in the video at the end of the review:

Roughly similar function. The microphone turns on and the lamp flashes in time with the conversation:

Camera function. You point the camera at objects of different colors, and the lamp begins to glow with that color, like a chameleon:

And then night came. I decided to turn on the lamp as a night light, with a faint red glow. Having previously checked several times that the timer works correctly and without failures. Having set the timer to turn off after 1 hour, I fell asleep with memories of how I printed photographs in such lighting in my youth...

And in the morning I woke up under the same red flashlight. The timer did not work even though the program was running.

What can you say about this lamp? Great idea, good implementation and hardware, and extremely disgusting software. Although they may finish it off. The program seems to be updated regularly.

Here you can watch a short video of the lamp in operation:

That's all about the ARILUX™ AL-B01 lamp from the point of view of a simple layman. And if you are reading these lines, thank you, it means you were able to read this review to the end.

Cross-platform frameworks provide mobile app developers with a comprehensive set of tools designed to improve productivity by solving common problems. The question is which frameworks are best for you doing mobile development. To help you answer this question, we have prepared a special list of cross-platform frameworks for developing high-quality mobile applications.

The Titanium framework uses JavaScript to call a vast collection of APIs. These APIs call native functions of the operating systems, providing exceptional performance and a natural appearance.

Titanium includes a visually oriented mobile app development process that... to a large extent relies on pre-built code blocks that can be assembled by drag and drop. You can create data models programmatically or visually. Test your finished mobile apps in the cloud and track them with the Mobile Lifecycle dashboard that gives you valuable information about application performance.

- PhoneGap;

PhoneGap from Adobe is one of the world's most popular frameworks for developing Android applications. It is created by the Apache Cordova development team. An open source mobile application development environment that uses CSS3 and HTML5, as well as JavaScript for cross-platform development. PhoneGap is also completely open source software.

It is based on an intuitive desktop application used to create applications and connect these applications to mobile devices (phones/smartphones, tablets). Finally, no more obscure text commands that are easy to get wrong and hard to remember. Conclusion of the review of cross-platform frameworks for mobile application development:

No matter which mobile app development framework you choose, don't be afraid to change your mind if you ever feel like there are better development environment options. Cross-platform frameworks are extremely variable, and new ones are released on on a regular basis. Their goal is to help you quickly turn a rough idea into working application, and a working mobile application into a finished product. In the end, it doesn't matter whether you achieve your goal using the latest modern framework that everyone is talking about, or a long-established framework that is starting to gather dust.

When Chinese IT company Huawei decided to unveil its new multimedia phone surrounded by the ornate National Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona, it certainly gave hints to the journalists present (covering technology news) about what they would see. After all, the recently unveiled Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone looks a bit like a rare Picasso painting.

First review of Huawei Mate X: a smartphone with a folding screen - attractive, powerful specifications and an incredibly expensive price to buy it.

So, what is the Huawei Mate X smartphone? The impression from the first review of Huawei Mate X can be expressed by the phrase that this smartphone is great. Even the phrase what is this beautiful smartphone, softens the review a little. Rather, he is magnificent in his own way. It has perhaps the most worthy industrial design of any mobile phone that the tech giants have ever released in the last few years. The new Huawei smartphone, from contemplation and deep imagination, clearly expands the boundaries of what smartphones can be. Since the size of a smartphone screen easily turns into a tablet one. Thus, mobile content can be viewed in a convenient way.

Those who know everything about phones might think that when asked for a unique price, the Mate X is a bit like the Picasso story in that it is a very expensive smartphone. The Mate X has raised the bar for smartphone prices. But perhaps, given the specs on offer, it can justify its price tag high price for those who decide which phone is better to buy.

Display on Huawei Mate X.

Which display is better? Huawei Mate X has a single display that can be transformed into three different configurations. The first mode is 8-inch tablet. It's an almost perfect square with an aspect ratio of 8:7.1 and a resolution of 2480 by 2200 pixels.

Since the screen is on the outside of the smartphone, when the mobile device is folded, you get two screens. The front screen offers 6.6 inches from edge to edge, complemented by a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a pixel resolution of 2480 by 1148.

There are also rear end, which offers fewer screen inches because it houses the device's cameras and handle. You will primarily use this part to take selfie photos. This part provides a decent (but thin) screen size of 6.38 inches with a somewhat compressed 25:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2480 by 892 pixels.

How comfortable is the Huawei Mate X in terms of thickness?

When folded, the Huawei Mate X mobile phone is 11 millimeters thick, and unlike its rival phone Samsung Galaxy Fold, there is no bulky gap. It is completely flat and locks into place with just one click. It would be interesting to test how well it locks when thrown into a purse, for example, and see if it can accidentally open or not.

When unfolded, the Mate X smartphone is 5.4mm thick, which is slightly thinner than the iPad Pro!

On Huawei Mate X, the camera, the pen - everything is for the user!

A quick look at the side of the Huawei Mate X - it's a handle (Huawei's fairly descriptive term). The device contains three mobile cameras, including one using hardware Leica. In technology news, this was not a surprise. The same configuration has appeared on all Huawei phones, starting with the P20 Pro model. It would be strange if the manufacturer Huawei refused such a function in such a revolutionary device.

You may notice that the phone does not have a dedicated front-facing selfie camera. This is because the three rear cameras are selfie cameras. To take a photo of yourself, you just need to fold your phone and flip it over.

It's all pretty exciting. Huawei premium phones are regularly considered to be phones with the best cameras On the market. While the company didn't share any camera samples during the launch event, it's fair to say that some people like the ability to take selfies with a high-end camera. mobile camera, supplemented by Master AI software.

And because the back of the Mate X also contains a screen, you can use your smartphone when taking photos, for example to show the subject of your photo a preview of how they'll end up looking in the photo.

Huawei employees claim that there are no problems with the camera on the Mate X model. This is good news, both in terms of appearance and overall durability. The latter is what the company is focusing on with the announcement of a specially designed protective case with phone.

New 5G connectivity and performance for the Mate X smartphone.

When reviewing the Mate X, it's important to remember that Huawei is more than just a phone maker. It targets a variety of IT areas, including SoC design. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Mate X uses a Balong 5G modem, as well as a Huawei Kirin 980 processor.

The modem is especially interesting because Huawei promises that the performance will be more than double that of modems from rival firms such as Qualcomm Snapdragon and Samsung Exynos. It is assumed that users who can afford to buy Huawei Mate X in stores will be able to use the download speed of 4.6 Gbps, for example, to download a 1 GB movie in just three seconds. Of course, right now, we have not been able to independently verify this, so for now we can only take our word for it.

What operating system is installed on Huawei Mate X?

In terms of software, the Mate X runs Google systems Android 9.0 Pie.

A Huawei spokesperson also said that Desktop Mode software will be available for its latest foldable phone, allowing the Mate X to be used as a smartphone, tablet, or even a desktop computer.

Huawei Mate X memory.

Mate X is a mobile phone with two SIM cards, one slot of which supports 5G network, and the other is limited to 4G communication. If you don't need the last function, you can just insert the NM card (clarification, NM is nano map memory invented by Huawei, which offers the same type of memory as microSD card memory, but in a smaller form factor) and add additional storage space in mobile device. Wherein basic version The smartphone is available with 512 GB of memory. Even the most dedicated filmmakers are unlikely to use all that storage capacity in a mobile phone.

Battery for Mate X.

With such big screen for work, you'll be glad to know that the Huawei Mate X phone launched with a pretty gigantic battery. The device has two cells, which together measure up to a respectable 4500 mAh. Unfortunately, there are no battery tests right now, so it's difficult to say how this translates into actual use of the new smartphone.

The Chinese company shared that the Mate X comes with a 55W super charging feature that can recharge the phone's battery by 85 percent in just thirty minutes.

Huawei Mate X pricing.

Huawei Mate X is perhaps the most important phone, ever unveiled by the rising Chinese tech brand, and not just because it's cementing its reputation as an innovative premium handset maker. This phone implements the company's more than three years of research and development and integrates advances in materials technology and communications equipment.

With this in mind, don't be surprised that the smartphone comes with really expensive prices, starting at 2,299 euros. When Huawei CEO Richard Yu (the English spelling of his name is "Richard Yu") broke the news, the silence from the crowd he had previously enjoyed was replaced by whispers of questioning. How much, how much does it cost?

Speaking of prices, it is about 300 euros more expensive than the flagship mobile Samsung device Galaxy Fold. And it's about 800 Euro more expensive than the most expensive Apple iPhone. Price-wise, the Mate X is in the same range as the company's previous luxury phones that bore the brand of luxury car brands, namely Porsche.

Huawei is not oblivious to the high cost of the Mate X, and during the conversation, Richard Yu said that the price of the phone reflects the high cost of research and development mobile device. He explained that the patented hinge that separates the two displays was a three-year development process and contains more than a hundred different parts. This kind of research and development is not cheap, and it is inevitable that there will be costs.

However, two things are inevitable. Firstly, there will be no shortage of enthusiastic pioneers willing to save on a lot in order to save up the money for a premium phone. For these buyers, there is an undeniable allure to being among the first to own something special. Perhaps Huawei can take advantage of the news buzz and benefit from more than just selling cheaper phones.

Secondly, prices on the market will inevitably decline. Perhaps not for this smartphone, but certainly for foldable smartphones in general. By and large, the price of 2300 Euros per phone will be perceived as a deviation from the norm. This will be driven by several factors, ranging from inevitable cost savings to competition from other up-and-coming brands like Xiaomi and OPPO, which are making strong inroads into the Western smartphone market.

Availability of purchasing Huawei Mate X.

For example, Huawei hasn't said how much the device will cost in the UK, but if you're guessing, it'll probably cost around £2,300. This assumption takes into account previous price trends, high UK sales tax and the continued decline of the pound.

Also, Huawei CEO Yu did not mention any plans to release the Mate X in the United States. Which is not surprising. The company rarely releases phones in the US. Thus, the Mate 20 Pro smartphone, which until recently was the best Android phone and which could be bought for reasonable money, was completely absent from the American market, which forced American consumers to order the smartphone from abroad. This situation could push prices even higher for US users, who may be forced to pay high customs duties and taxes.

When will it be possible to buy Huawei Mate X?

Huawei has announced that the Mate X will be released mid-year. Unfortunately, this message was not more specific. To clarify, you just need to wait and see what the official release date for Huawei Mate X will be.

Are you planning to buy a new premium phone? There are reasons why it's better to wait before buying a premium phone right now. Which? Here are some of the main reasons. What the buyer can expect from premium phones in 2019: new mobile chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, new super fast 5G connectivity, foldable screen design and 48MP mobile camera.

All about phones and buying them: If you are planning to buy a new premium phone, wait at least one month to buy it. And that's why:

It is expected that Mobile exhibition World Congress 2019 (also referred to as MWC 2019), which will be held in just a couple of weeks (on the twentieth of February), most of the leading smartphone companies will present their latest flagship phones with advanced features and updated technical specifications.

So, new cell phone specifications for this year.

Samsung will release a multimedia Galaxy phone S10, while manufacturer HMD Global will introduce the five-camera Nokia 9 PureView phone. Phone manufacturers Huawei, Oppo and LG will also present their latest mobile devices at the upcoming mobile exhibition.

But in 2019, buyers need to think about more than just the next model upgrade cycle when purchasing a new premium phone. And the reasons for this are the unique technical characteristics in the description of the phones.

- Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

Qualcomm's top-end processor powers most premium phones, from Samsung models Galaxy S9 to OnePlus 6T. The Snapdragon 845 processor is now history. The latest Qualocmm Snapdragon 855 chipset, based on 7nm process technology, offers better performance, higher battery efficiency and built-in artificial intelligence (aka AI) processing.

When paired with the Snapdragon X50 modem, the Snapdraon 855 will also provide mobile connection 5G connections to premium smartphones in 2019.

Other key features of the chipset include improved gaming performance (Adreno 640 GPU), artificial intelligence and a higher resolution camera, as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor.

- 48 megapixel camera.

The latest premium smartphones are expected to come with a higher resolution camera. The 48MP camera is the new rage and already several phones like Honor View20 and Redmi Note 7 have a similar feature.

While resolution is certainly not the best measurement to judge a camera by, the built-in sensors are also improving significantly. Most of these 48MP camera phones are likely to use the Sony IMX586 sensor, dubbed the highest resolution camera sensor for mobile phones.

Besides better resolution cameras and sensors, premium mobile phones 2019 may also come with Samsung-like quad and penta (five) camera setups. In most 2018 phones dual cameras had a main camera, while additional camera ranged from ultra-wide, depth to monochrome.

We expect the new phones to feature most of these sensors with three, four or five cameras.

- Fifth generation mobile communications: 5G.

The evolution of mobile networks continues! The upcoming MWC 2019 will also be a launching pad for 5G phones. Expected from Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung and almost all leading players mobile market that they will present their new phones supporting 5G communications. Most of these phones will also hit the European and US markets later this year. Some fans Apple has already want to buy an iPhone 5G. For other countries, the rollout of 5G networks may be delayed by at least one year. But investing in a 5G phone right now wouldn't be a bad idea.

- Folding mobile phone.

Folding phones are no longer a concept, screen folding is already part of the features of mobile phones. Korean company Samsung introduced its first foldable phone late last year. It is expected to unveil the commercial version of the phone at its event on February 20, ahead of the MWC 2019 mobile expo.

Samsung is likely betting big on the new form factor, as it plans to release at least one million foldable phones this year. Considering that Russia is one of the priority markets, we can expect that foldable phones will also be released. Apart from Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and Oppo have plans to launch foldable phones this year.

- Artificial intelligence in phones, plus don’t forget about machine learning.

Google introduced operating system last year Android system 9 Pie. Android Pie features like Adaptive Display and Adaptive Brightness are powered by machine learning to help improve your user experience. Android phones. In the future, artificial intelligence and machine learning will become important part updates for Google platforms Android. It may be worth making sure that your new phone will be compatible not only with Android 9 Pie, but also with the Android Q successor.

Besides Google, phone companies like Xiaomi and Asus are embedding artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) directly into system apps. The camera, for example, on premium phones uses AI and ML to automatically recognize scenes and automatic optimization settings. Most of the 2019 mobile phones will come with AI-enhanced cameras.

The only thing that remains a dream when buying is when the best mobile phones will have a full-fledged “3D phone” feature.

News added:

1) Samsung has released the latest version of Galaxy S10 and people believe that iPhone may lose its position as the king of smartphones.

The latest flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S10 was released by the company on February 20. On this day, Samsung presented many new products. The audience was really interested in the new phone demonstrated. So much so that they say that Apple's iPhone has a serious alternative. Last Galaxy model Samsung surprised and shocked fans with the S10, in a good way.

2) The attractive, powerful and incredibly expensive Huawei Mate X foldable 5G phone.

Following the announcement of the first foldable smartphone Samsung Galaxy Fold, Chinese company Huawei is betting on the folding screen form factor and is announcing the release of the Huawei Mate X, which also works with 5G connectivity. Developer Huawei is taking a completely different approach compared to Samsung, namely placing the smartphone's rollable display on the outside rather than on the inside, and this solution has a number of pros and cons when describing next-generation phones. The price of Huawei Mate X starts from 2299 Euro.

3) Will Apple release a foldable iPhone?

Some analysts believe that a foldable iPhone could be in the works from the Cupertino company. Then if new smartphone Apple will release a foldable screen, it has a chance to become the best among the foldable ones already released Samsung smartphones Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X.

Moom, from the developers of Many Tricks, has been bringing order to chaos since 2011, making managing windows in your operating system as easy as clicking a mouse button or using a keyboard shortcut. With Moom, you can easily move and scale windows to fit half screen, quarter screen, or fill the screen; Set custom sizes and positions, and save open window layouts for one-click positioning. Once you try Moom, you'll wonder how you ever used your Mac without it.

Software review: Moom is a program for moving and scaling windows in the Mac OS system.

So, Moom allows you to move and scale windows - using the mouse or keyboard - in predefined locations and sizes, or in full screen mode. When using the program with a mouse, all you have to do is hover over the green resize button and the Moom interface will appear. When you are using the keyboard, click on the shortcut you defined and the Moom keyboard frame will appear, then you can move the windows around using the arrow keys and modifier keys.

Moom can be launched as a traditional app, as a menu bar app, or as a completely faceless background app.

Pop-up window placement.

Hover your mouse over the green button of any window and the Moom palette will pop up.

Quickly fill the screen or move and resize vertically or horizontally around the edges of the screen. Want quarter-size windows instead? By holding down the Option key, the palette presents four quarter-size corner options along with a "no resize center" option.

Resizing is not a problem.

It's actually drag and drop, using Moom's unique on-screen resizing grid.

Click the empty box below the pop-up palette, move your mouse pointer to where you want the window to be positioned, then click and drag to new dimensions.

Release the mouse button and the window will fill the outline you drew on the screen, it's not difficult at all.

Want to quickly move and scale windows in specific areas of the screen? Just turn on Moom's edge and corner snapping feature.

Grab the window, drag it to an edge or corner, and release the mouse button. You can set the resize action for each location in Moom's settings.

Set the window set to the size and location you want, then save the layout. Restore the layout using the assigned hotkey or through the Moom menu.

This feature is especially useful if you are using a laptop with external display, Moom can launch saved layouts when you add or remove displays.

No mouse required.

Don't worry, keyboard users. Moom isn't just for those who prefer to use a mouse. Enable keyboard controls and you can move, resize, center, use the on-screen grid and more - all without touching your mouse.

Additionally, each custom Moom command, continue reading, can be assigned a global keyboard shortcut or one that only works when the keyboard controller is on screen.

Countless custom commands.

Create and save frequently used Moom actions in a menu of custom commands, with additional separators and labels.

Moving, scaling, resizing, centering, even moving to other displays can all be done using custom commands. You can even create a sequence of commands tied to a single shortcut, simplifying complex moving and resizing operations.

But wait, there's more to moving and scaling windows on Mac OS with Moom.

Use Moom as normal application Dock-based, as a menu bar icon or as a completely invisible background app.

Access to custom commands done using the Moom menu bar icon, green button pop-up palette, or keyboard shortcuts.

Use a small hex grid to resize the grid instead of a full screen virtual grid.

Move windows across displays, and use related commands to scale them to new sizes and locations as you move them.

You can display a keyboard cheat sheet that shows you what tasks you've assigned to which keys in keyboard mode.

Resizing windows to exact dimensions, ideal for testing how well windows fit into different sized windows.

Moom's developers have worked hard to achieve these goals, where great software should do its job efficiently, have a clear interface, and be enjoyable to use.

Summary:

Moom is a Mac OS app developed by Many Tricks that lets you quickly organize, resize, move, scale, and shape windows so you spend less time arranging windows and more time working with them.

Moom system requirements:

The program requires installation of the macOS 10.8 "Mountain Lion" operating system or later on your computer. You can try Moom for free.

The ZigBee LED light bulb can be communicated via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. With its help you will create “smart” lighting in your home. The list of its capabilities ranges from changing the brightness on a schedule to turning on the light under certain conditions. Over time, this will have a positive effect on your electricity bills.

Some of the LED lamps below can illuminate a room in any color of the rainbow, adapting to your mood and other circumstances. If you decide to install smart devices in your home LED bulbs, then take a look at the models that you can buy today or in the near future.

Belkin WeMo LED Lighting Starter Kit

The Belkin WeMo LED Lighting Starter Kit is coming soon for $130. It includes two LED lamps and one WeMo Wi-Fi hub. Each additional bulb will cost $40. The WeMo application itself allows you to set the operating mode of up to 50 light sources. Only white light is supported. Lamps can be turned on and off, brightness adjusted, and operating mode set remotely. TO Wi-Fi networks The bulbs are connected via the WeMo hub. These LED sources lighting can be integrated into your own IFTTT account to fully automate their operation.

iLumi Color Tunable LED Smartbulbs

The startup iLumi today sells two types of LED lamps with changeable color glow. The smaller one - A21 - costs $90, and the larger one - PAR30 - costs $100. Unlike the Belkin product, iLumi lamps are controlled via Bluetooth 4.0. This means that you can do without a special hub, since you can connect to the lamps directly from your phone. But they can only be controlled from a distance of up to 30 meters. You won't be able to turn the lights on and off remotely. iLumi can glow white or take on a specified hue. They have the function of adjusting brightness and working on a schedule.

Insteon LED Bulb

The Insteon LED Bulb is priced at $30. This is noticeably lower compared to many other options smart sources lighting. It also allows you to save money during operation - it consumes only 8 watts, and the expected operating time is 52 thousand hours. But in terms of brightness, Insteon LED is far from a leader. With a claimed 591 lumens, the developer claims that this is equivalent to a 60-watt incandescent lamp. Other brands suggest that the lamp must “glow” at 800 lumens to achieve a similar effect.

Lifx Multicolor Smart LED

Lifx is one of the successful Kickstarter projects. It offers us one of the most powerful LED lamps. With a power consumption of 17 watts, it produces 1000 lumens of illumination (equivalent to 75 watts using an incandescent lamp).

But this design is noticeably larger and heavier than the others. This is partly due to the Wi-Fi built into the Lifx lamp. With the individual lamp priced at $99, you don't have to install an additional hub. Just screw it into the socket, download control apps and customize your smart LED lamp. However, the application itself has rather limited functionality. You can't set a schedule or receive notifications here. There is also no IFTTT compatibility.

Philips Hue Connected Bulb Starter Kit

The Philips Hue Connected Bulb kit costs $200. It includes three ZigBee-enabled LED lamps and a hub. Without a hub, there is no way to control Philips Hue lamps. But you cannot buy it separately or with fewer lamps. Therefore, you will immediately have to fork out this amount. But it's worth it. The lamp control app is intuitive. The color of the glow can be changed over the entire RGB range. Except the rich functionality app, Philips Hue lamps can be controlled via IFTTT.

Philips Hue Lux LED

Philips Hue Lux LED bulbs only glow white. The $100 kit includes a hub and two lamps. Each additional lamp can be purchased for $40. This set is expected to be available in the second half of 2014. It will be functionally similar to Philips Hue, except for the color change. If you don't want to play with the shades of the light source, then it makes sense to purchase the cheaper Hue Lux set.

Samsung Smart LED with Bluetooth support

Like iLumi, Samsung's recently announced LED bulbs will be controlled via Bluetooth 4.0. The price for this product is not yet known. Apparently, we will be able to control the temperature of these lamps, changing it from warm orange-white to cool blue. That is, with the help of an appropriate application we will be able to simulate the work various types lamps

Tabu Lumen LED Color Smart Bulb

Tabu Lumen LED Color Smart Bulb It doesn't boast IFTTT integration or color-changing capabilities like Philips Hue, but it does have a 30,000-hour lifespan. This is double what is claimed for Philips Hue. White light with a brightness of 400 lumens (similar to a 40-watt incandescent lamp). It's not as bright as the 600 lumens the Hue puts out. And the price of these lamps reaches $70, which is more expensive than Philips Hue. But a hub is not needed to run the Tabu Lumen LED Color Smart Bulb. It is controlled via Bluetooth 4.0.

Tabu LuMini LED

Tabu LuMini is the cousin of Tabu Lumen. This LED lamp is also controlled via Bluetooth. It costs 35 dollars. But it can only be colored. LuMini will not replace a regular incandescent lamp, but this can hardly be called a serious drawback. To manage color, you need to install the Lumen application, which has a convenient color wheel.

TCP Wireless LED Lighting Kit

This is one of the most affordable sets. It costs a little over $100. The set includes three LED lamps and a hub. And the light bulb separately has a completely affordable price - $17 (800 lumens - analogous to 60 watts for incandescent lamps). The list of pleasant moments is perhaps limited to a fairly high brightness. This LED lamp can only glow white, unaware of the existence of IFTTT or other automatic control methods. But considering the price, this is a very good option for getting acquainted with new technology.

Hello. In my next review, I will tell you about a lamp controlled via Bluetooth from a phone. I know there were reviews of her here recently. I don't have the same equipment as in her first review. Therefore, I will talk about the lamp from the point of view of a simple layman who picked up this lamp for the first time, and will not measure a spherical horse in a vacuum. If you are interested, welcome to the cut to see what came of it.

The order was placed on March 18, the store sent it to me on the same day. And on April 19, the lamp fell into my hands:

The lamp is supplied in a cardboard box:

Box

Inside the box, the lamp is protected from the hardships of travel by a transparent plastic holder:

Lamp in holder

In addition to the lamp, the box contains only a piece of paper with a QR code for downloading the software:

A piece of paper with a QR code

On the reverse side there is a QR code for iOS.

To begin with, the characteristics of the lamp from the store’s website:

And here is the hero of today's review, the ARILUX™ AL-B01 lamp:

It has aluminium case with pronounced cooling radiator fins. The assembly is neat and high quality.

Let's see how much it actually consumes:

Brightness in all cases is 100%.

Regular white light:

Red:

I don't want to overload the review extra photos. Therefore, I’ll just write that blue and green colors have the same power consumption as red: 2.7 Watts.

You will find out why there is such a difference with white in the review a little further.

And at the same time, I measured the seven-watt LED lamp that was working in the chandelier in my room, and was replaced by the ARILUX™ AL-B01 lamp:

Let's measure the illumination. In the same way, we check the lighting of workplaces. The lux meter is located on the desktop surface, Desk lamp is located at a height of approximately 60 centimeters from the tabletop.

Control measurement. Desk lamp off:

For comparison.

100 Watt Incandescent Lamp:

Old LED lamp:

Now screw in ARILUX™ AL-B01. White color:

And again, so as not to overload the review. Red, blue and green colors showed the same result:

Like any simple lamp user, I simply have to disassemble it.

Let's remove the matte plastic light diffuser:

Now it becomes clear why there is such a difference in the power and brightness of the lamp in white and other colors:

There are 15 conventional LEDs located around the circumference. But only five three-color LEDs are located in the center.

Unscrew 2 screws:

And here we are faced with a manifestation of the manufacturer’s greed. There is no thermal paste between the aluminum plate with LEDs and the heatsink at all. It is not surprising that the plate became very hot, and the radiator was slightly warm and performed more decorative functions than actual cooling. Applying thermal paste corrected this problem and the heatsink actually began to do its job.

Let's look at the control board:

The Bluetooth antenna is visible. And it all runs on the CC2540 chip from Texas Instruments.

Here is its block diagram:

And also a typical connection diagram for use in lamps like this:

The main driver is a regular driver for LED lamps. The exact same one is in the old lamp, the predecessor of ARILUX. And it is not of particular interest. The only thing is that in ARILUX it is neatly placed in special grooves:

Screw the lamp into the chandelier. Next to it, 2 other seven-watt light bulbs are burning. They shine weaker. In addition, ARILUX has a warmer light. In reality it’s not particularly noticeable, but the camera showed it well, you’ll probably immediately understand where it is:

ARILUX is located at the top left.

Here's what the different colors look like in a chandelier:

And all this is controlled via Bluetooth from Android or iOS devices.

And here the fly in the ointment begins again. And not just a spoon, but a whole ladle.

Firstly, you should not download the program using the QR code. Chinese servers have very slow performance. Therefore, it is easier and faster to install the program from the market.

Secondly,.

But...

At startup, the program required that GPS be turned on on the tablet for geopositioning.

Therefore, why she needs GPS is doubly unclear
.

The product was provided for writing a review by the store. The review was published in accordance with clause 18 of the Site Rules.

Light-emitting diode (LED) lamps are becoming increasingly popular due to their long lifespan and low operating costs. In addition, they have other features compared to traditional light bulbs: LED lamps may change colors. Philips uses this idea in its Hue lamps. When connected to Wi-Fi, you can change the colors of the light bulbs using your iPhone. They can also turn on automatically, for example, when you wake up, when you get home, or when your favorite team wins. The starter package includes 3 lamps and costs about 20-22 thousand rubles. It's also worth noting that Philips recently released a new home version of its hub, which allows you to control your lighting using Siri and your voice.

Lamps

The Hue Starter Pack includes three lights and a wireless hub. Additional bulbs are sold separately. Approximately 50 lamps can be connected to one hub simultaneously. Philips Hue bulbs are slightly smaller in size than conventional incandescent bulbs, but still fit in a standard socket.

Hue bulbs are quite bright, at about 600 lumens, which is roughly equivalent to a 40-watt bulb. Each lamp consumes 8.5 W. They are designed for 15,000 hours, or 625 days of continuous use.

Philips recently introduced two LED strips: Friends of Hue Bloom Lamp and Friends of Hue LightStrip. The Bloom ribbon has a diameter of 12.7 cm, the base extends back 10.2 cm along with the power cord. It is made of metal, painted white, weighs approximately 419 g and is quite durable. Despite its size, the 120 lumens output makes the Bloom strip relatively suitable for use as a main light source. But still, it is a little dull for reading.

LightStrip is a strip 1 cm wide and 2 meters long. The strip contains 60 LED lamps, which together produce 120 lumens. The back of the LightStrip has a plastic backing that allows it to be attached to virtually any surface. In addition, the ribbon can be shortened every 10.2 cm depending on how long you need. Visually, the tape does not look very attractive, so it is better to place it behind other objects to create a pleasant backlight.

Installation

The starter package includes a hub for wireless connection to your local Wi-Fi network. The diameter of the hub is 10.2 cm, thickness 2.5 cm. On the rear surface there is an Ethernet port, as well as a power connector. To use Hue lighting, you'll first need to screw in the bulbs, turn on the hub, and connect it via the Ethernet port to your router. Mobile phone apps will help you control your lighting. In total, installation will take about 5 minutes.

Philips Hue app

The home screen of the Philips Hue app is a grid of eight thumbnails that look like Polaroid photos. Each thumbnail has an icon with a description, such as "Sunset" or "Deep Sea". The first press will allow you to change the lighting according to a certain pattern. For example, the Sunset function will create lighting in red-orange tones.

When pressed again, you can select the overall brightness using the cursor. The pencil icon on the left is responsible for adjusting the color of lighting within scenes, as well as removing and adding colors. Here you can also set the lighting to turn on certain period time to create the appearance that you are at home. Isn't it quite convenient?

By clicking the tab at the bottom of the screen, you can control the brightness of the lighting; turn the phone to portrait mode and change the colors of each lighting element.

Plus sign on the right top corner home screen allows you to create your own scenes. You can use existing photos from your camera roll or new ones as a color palette for the scene. Overall, the application is quite easy to use, but at the same time it does not offer as many features as third party application. For example, you can use the Philips Hue app to turn lights on and off or quickly change colors.

Web site

Does creating your own patterns cause you boredom? You can create a free profile on the Hue website (meethue.com) and import scenes created by other Hue lighting users. In addition, on the website you can control your lighting system and order additional light bulbs.

Additional features

Hue lighting is compatible with IFTTT (If This, Then That Technology), which allows you to create “recipes” that will change the color of the lighting depending on what happens. The IFTTT web service is supported by more than 50 sites, including Facebook, ESPN, Gmail, Tumblr and YouTube, so there are a large number of triggers you can set. For example, when your favorite team scores points while watching a match, the Blue colour. It is also compatible with other concept devices smart House, for example, with the Nest Learning thermostat or with Logitech Harmony Elite universal remote controls.

Philips also recently introduced a new home version of its hub, which allows you to control your lighting using Siri and your voice. The new hub is approximately the same in size as the previous one, but differs in shape. The previous version had round shape, and the new one is a square with rounded corners. With Siri, you can turn individual lights or groups of lights on and off, and activate different scenes.

After linking your Hue account to your IFTTT account (where you will need to register), the service will ask you to complete 7 simple steps. In no time, you'll be creating recipes to activate your Hue lighting system. You can also check out recipes from other users if you don’t want to come up with scenes yourself.

Opinion

The idea of using the iPhone to not only turn lights on and off, but also to change the colors of the lights is really great. However, even for the LED bulb segment, Philips Hue bulbs are quite expensive. Besides the fact that you can change colors manually, another interesting feature is that the lamps light up when you return home. Although they are pricey, it's great that Philips has added interactivity to this eco-conscious product.

Benefits of Philips Hue Connected Bulbs:

  • easy to handle
  • wide palette of colors
  • easy setup and installation
  • IFTTT integration

Disadvantages of Philips Hue Connected Bulbs:

  • high price
  • iOS only

Summary

Summarizing all of the above, we can emphasize that Philips Hue Connected LED lamps will add interactivity to even the most ordinary home.
