Owners of the Amazon Kindle 4 miracle device were probably a little upset when, when they first picked up the delivered e-book, they realized that it was English language. Amazon Kindle 4 is only available in English, since it is not officially supplied to Russia and is unlikely to ever be supplied.
But it turns out that this sad misunderstanding can be corrected and it can even be done very simply.
I would like to immediately clarify that the instructions below apply only to the Amazon Kindle 4, which non-touch (WITHOUT prefix touch).

Russification of Amazon Kindle 4
Russification is possible only after installation third party firmware, which is called JailBreak. This firmware will most likely neither remove nor add any functionality to your Kindle new feature. It will just allow you to add additional language interface.
- Loading
- The downloaded archive contains 2 files: data.tar.gz And RUNME.sh, which need to be placed in the root drive of the Amazon Kindle 4. This is exactly how we throw these files.

- Uploading the file
- The downloaded archive will contain 2 files: russian.keyb And update_ru_RU_4.04_k4w_install.bin, which must be placed back into the root directory. Delete file RUNME.sh, which was left over from JailBreak, is not needed.
- After disconnecting the USB cable from the computer, we launch the Russification of Kindle 4. To do this, press sequentially:

- select Settings
- button Menu
- select item Update Your Kindle
After which he will once again make sure that you really want to do this and will start the Russification process.
- After the update, you only need to select the downloaded Russian language and enjoy the successfully completed process.

- After selecting your language, your Amazon Kindle 4 should restart.
P.S. If you have done everything, but the Russian language does not appear in the list, then you need to do everything from the very beginning. This is exactly what happened to me. After the second time everything worked and was Russified.
If the software does not update automatically, you can update it yourself:
1. Check the version software your Kindle Paperwhite (2015): Menu » Settings » Menu » Device Info.
2. If the Firmware version is less than the current one (5.10.3), download the update file.
3. Connect the reader to your computer with a USB cable.
4. Copy the update file to the root directory of your Kindle disk. Make sure the copying process is complete!
5. Disconnect Kindle Paperwhite (2015) from your computer.
6. Start the update process: Menu » Settings » Menu » Update Your Kindle
7. Wait until it finishes and reboots. This process may take several minutes. Do not turn off the device during the update!

2) Unplug the cable or remove the device from Windows. Restart your device (Menu -> Settings -> Menu -> Restart)
3) After the device boots into diagnostic mode, use the joystick to select "D) Exit, Reboot or Disable Diags"
4) Next, select “R) Reboot System” and “Q) To continue”. To execute many commands, you are asked to confirm execution by pressing the joystick to the left (LEFT)
5) Wait about half a minute: you will see the Jailbreak screen and the e-reader will reboot into diagnostic mode again. After that, again select “D) Exit, Reboot or Disable Diags”
6) Select “D) Disable Diagnostics” and “Q) To continue”
7) After your Kindle restarts, you should see A new book called "You are Jailbroken". If you see it, Jailbreak is complete.

Let me warn you right away that for me this is the first tablet and the first device on Android based. So there will be a lot of seemingly banal things.
I won’t say anything special about the native firmware, because... There are already a bunch of reviews about it on YouTube. Let's move on to the most interesting part, namely:

Getting root access on Amazon Kindle Fire
Step one: Download and install Android SDK. You may need the JDK, but the installer will tell you where to get it. You need to install Android 2.3.3 (API10) and Google in the SDK USB Driver Package.Step two: Let's go to the folder %Users%/%Username%/.android(for Windows 7). That seems to be all, but for some reason I didn’t have Superuser. The problem was solved quite simply...
Go to the tablet settings, then Device, and allow installation from unknown sources (Allow Installation of Applications From Unknow Sources). Next, in the built-in browser, type root explorer apk (the application is for an amateur - the first one I found). Download, install and launch. Go to the System\App folder and launch the Superuser.apk application there.
Voila - applications can now gain root access to the system.
Installing Russian keyboard and locale on Amazon Kindle Fire
In principle, when I bought the Fire, I didn’t expect to see Russian localization, but the hope of seeing the possibility of switching to the Russian layout died the moment the tablet fell into my hands.But having root access, changing the default keyboard does not pose any problem.
First, let's download a keyboard that supports changing the layout. Again, you won’t find such joy in your native Amazon Market, but after a little googling I found Hacker’s keybord apk. Unfortunately, after apk installation nothing happened, it was the default application without changing the layout - it remained that way. There is no option to change the keyboard application by simply changing the settings.
To install a keyboard with the ability to change layouts, we will need:
- Amazon Kindle Fire with root access;
- Program for WiFi tablet Transport (available in Amazon market);
- Program on the tablet Root Explorer(where to get it, see above);
Having installed the above programs, we will begin Russification.
Step one: Launch Root Explorer, go to the folder /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
and copy the settings.db file to the clipboard. Then go to the /sdcard/download folder and paste it there.
Step two: We launch WiFi Transport and connect via ftp to the tablet and copy the settings.db file to the computer.
Step three: Having first saved a copy of settings.db in a safe place, we begin editing using SQLite. Go to the Browse Data tab, select the secure table. We need fields with name enable_input_methods And default_input_method. By default there will be com.android.inputmethod.latin/.LatinIME. For Hacker’s Keyboard, change the values to org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard/.LatinIME. Save the file and upload it back to the tablet.

Step four: Using the same Root Explorer, copy the modified settings.db file to the folder /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases. Then we give it the attributes rw-rw---- (if you don’t do this, you’ll get a brick).
Step five - change the locale to Russian: Download the MoreLocale 2 program. Having installed it, you can change the locale to Russian without much effort.
Step six: Reboot the tablet and get a Russian keyboard and a partially Russified interface.
