Gap/Black Mark Sensor Calibration

The gap/black mark sensor should be calibrated in following cases.

  1. Purchasing a new printer
  2. Replacing a roll of labels.
  3. Initializing the printer.

To calibrate the gap/black mark sensor, follow the steps below.

  • Turn off the printer's power.
  • Release the button when the indicator flashes red (it will turn red after 5 flashes).

This will calibrate the sensitivity of the gap/black mark sensor. The indicator color will change in the following order: Yellow => Red (5 blinks) => Yellow (5 blinks) => Green (5 blinks) => Green/Yellow (5 blinks) => Red/Yellow (5 blinks) => green (see video below).

Gap/Black Mark Calibration. Self-test. Dump mode

When calibrating the gap/black mark sensor, the printer measures the label length, prints the internal configuration (self-test) on the label, and enters dump mode. Gap or black mark sensor calibration depends on the sensor settings used in the previous print job.

To calibrate the sensor, follow these steps:

1. Turn off the printer power.

2. While holding down the button, turn on the printer.

3. Release the button when the indicator flashes yellow (after 5 flashes it will turn yellow)

  • The indicator color will change in the following order: Yellow => Red (5 blinks) => Yellow (5 blinks) => Green (5 blinks) => Green/Yellow (5 blinks) => Red/Yellow (5 blinks) => green

4. The printer calibrates the sensor, measures the label length, prints internal values and enters dump mode.

Note: Sensor calibration is performed using the Diagnostic Tool or power-on utilities. Additional Information See the Diagnostic Tool section. Before calibrating the sensor, first select the gap or black mark sensor type.

Self-test

Once the gap/black mark sensor is calibrated, the printer will print its configuration. The self-test printout can be used to locate damaged heating element spots, check printer configurations, and determine available memory.

Dump mode

After printing the configuration, the printer enters dump mode. In this mode, all characters are printed in 2 columns, as shown below. The characters on the left are obtained from the system, and on the right are their hexadecimal values. The data allows users or engineers to test or debug a program.

Note: Dump mode requires 2" wide paper. To resume normal printing, turn the printer power off and then on again. Press the FEED button to return to the previous menu.

Initializing the Printer

Printer initialization is used to clear DRAM and restore printer defaults.

You can start initializing the printer in the following way.

  1. Turn off the printer's power.
  2. While holding down the button, turn on the printer.
  3. Release the button when the indicator flashes 5 times yellow and will turn green (after 5 flashes it will turn green).

The LED color will change in the following order: Amber => Red (5 blinks) => Amber (5 blinks) => Green (5 blinks) => Green/Yellow (5 blinks) => Red/Yellow (5 blinks) => green

After initialization, the following printer defaults will be set.
