When iOS 12 comes out. New location of the “Level” function. New iPad Pro with Face ID

iOS 11 has received a huge number of innovations for Apple gadgets, special changes affected iPad tablets. The next generation of the system, the 12th iteration, is expected to be released in 2018. When will the new iOS be shown and what features will the system have?

iOS 12 announcement date

The release of iOS 12 will take place in June 2018 at the Worldwide Developers Conference - WWDC. The system will be announced from the stage by Apple's Vice President of software development Craig Federighi. On the day of the presentation, a beta version of iOS 12 will become available, and in September the system will be released to everyone.

Which devices will receive iOS 12

With every new iOS release Apple company deprives some devices of updates. 2018 will not be special, so Cupertino will again reduce the list of supported devices.
Below are the smartphones, tablets and players that are most likely to receive iOS 12:

  • iPhone 6 and up
  • iPhone 6 Plus and above
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone SE

  • iPod touch 6

All gadgets equipped with an A7 processor will not receive the new system. For Apple, this chip was the first to support 64-bit architecture. All improvements and improvements were received by the next generations of processors. And judging by the disgusting iPhone work 5S and iPad Mini 2/3 on iOS 11, we can assume that the devices will naturally not receive the new OS. Moreover, the above-mentioned devices are outdated both technically and morally: the cameras are disgusting, the screens are not the best, the design is outdated, and so on.

What features will appear in iOS 12

1. Fully working "Files"

iOS 11 introduced a redesigned Files app. In addition to the proprietary iCloud, it now has the ability to connect third-party cloud storage, also promised closer work with system files. In fact, many companies did not adapt their services to “Files”, but local files still remained unavailable. By by and large The functionality of the application remains at the same level. Apple is likely to improve its Explorer analogue in iOS 12 and make it more useful in real-life use.

2. Improved Control Center

After the introduction of 3D Touch technology, many reproached Apple for not fully utilizing the functionality of pressing hard. For example, it was possible to implement pressure on Wi-Fi icon in Control Center to open Settings. And so on with all services. Unfortunately, the Cupertino team is still ignoring the wishes of users, although such functionality would be very convenient.

Also, many are waiting for the ability to add shortcuts to the Control Center third party applications. On this moment the list of commands available for output is limited and consists of standard operations.

3. Wish list App Store

Previously, the App Store featured a convenient wishlist. It could accommodate various tracking applications. iOS 11 lost this feature and now necessary programs have to remember. It would be nice if Apple returned the list in a new version of the system.

4. Apple Pay Cash for everyone

iOS 11.2 received the function of transferring money via iMessage - Apple Pay Cash. As of the end of 2017, this feature only works in the United States. Moreover, with credit cards a transaction fee applies. Cupertino residents have a lot of time to adapt convenient technology for other markets and negotiate with banks to cancel additional fee for transferring money. At the very least, we should expect the feature to appear in countries where Apple Pay works (Russia and Ukraine are on this list).

5. Dark mode

Rumors about dark mode They've been using iOS for a very long time. Many were waiting for it to appear in iOS 10.3, but it didn’t happen. This time, the implementation of dark mode is closer to reality than ever. This is due to the fact that the iPhone X has an OLED display, which is famous for its rich and contrasting black color. Plus, turning on dark shades drains your smartphone battery less. Therefore, the appearance of the long-awaited regime may happen already in iOS release 12.

6. Revival of the News app

The News app is a convenient news aggregator similar to Flipboard. Apple also took care of optimizing the content and as a result the program looks more like a digital magazine. It turned out well and beautifully, but News does not work in all countries. Due to the limited market for use, many have forgotten about this application and Apple urgently needs to revive it in iOS 12.

7. Stable operation and increased autonomy

Firstly iOS versions 11 stability was greatly affected. Even on the last Apple smartphones There were slowdowns in animations and some system glitches. No doubt, they will be gradually corrected, but iOS 12 should not become a breeding ground for errors and shortcomings. The same goes for autonomy. The operating time in version 11 on a single charge has decreased compared to iOS 10. The same thing cannot be allowed to happen in the new version of the system.

So, the main iOS features 12. There is still a lot of time left before the release, which means that rumors about the system will increase every month. Already in June next year we will find out how much Apple has improved the OS and whether the wishes of users will be heard.

Everything you can expect at WWDC 2018.

May 13 Apple officially announced developer conference WWDC 2018. WWDC 2018 will be held from June 4 to 8 in exhibition center McEnery in San Jose, California. The event will feature Apple's new operating systems for the first time: iOS 12, macOS 10.14, watchOS 5 and tvOS 5, and a number of hardware innovations are also expected. All upcoming WWDC 2018 announcements are described in detail in this material.

WWDC developer conferences are traditionally more than just conferences. Apple regularly presents at WWDC not only software, but also hardware innovations, and often more than powerful ones. Last year, for example, at WWDC 2017, in addition to iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra Apple executives showed a seriously updated 10.5-inch iPad, which received minimal display frames and a 120 Hz screen refresh rate - a first for the iPad, and for all tablets in general.

WWDC promises to be no less hot in 2018. We have compiled a full list of expected announcements below.

iOS 12

The main announcement of WWDC 2018, without a doubt, will be iOS 12. New mobile operating room Apple system should be more than original and will interest absolutely all owners of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The fact is that at the very beginning of January 2018, without being distracted by the holidays, Apple management held an important meeting with developers. The meeting discussed the current sorry state of iOS. The system, if not bursting at the seams, is definitely upsetting great amount mobile users Apple devices numerous bugs, shortcomings and painfully strange errors in the interface. iPhone owners, iPad and iPod touch are actively complaining about iOS, starting back in 2016 and the then released iOS 10.

At the end of 2017, the level of criticism became prohibitive. That is why at a meeting between management and developers it was decided that iOS 12 would be a “different” update. Apple will not introduce it a large number of new major features, but will focus on fixing bugs, increasing overall performance systems and improving autonomy. Still powerful new features including updated main screen and the completely redesigned Photos app will be delayed until 2019 and iOS 13.

All this became known thanks to one of the Apple employees, who is also a source for the authoritative publication Bloomberg. The latter is rarely wrong in its forecasts and publishes exclusively reliable information. In other words, iOS 12 will indeed be gigantic technical update, aimed at improving the performance of the system, which Apple’s operating system really needs, and not for the first year.

It is because of this that iOS 12 will be of great interest to all owners iPhone models, iPad and iPod touch. Analysts expect that the update will be able to breathe new life into old devices, which should begin to “fly” again. Many experts and journalists have a hard time believing this, but, nevertheless, improvements are definitely worth expecting.

It's important to note that new features will still appear in iOS 12. According to data from the same Bloomberg publication, obtained from a trusted source in the Apple camp, the Do Not Disturb mode will be improved in iOS 12, adding additional features parental controls, and Siri will be more integrated into iOS search.

macOS 10.14

At WWDC 2018 a new operating system will be presented for Mac computers. Currently, macOS 10.14 does not have an officially confirmed name, so the system is called by its serial number.

Like iOS 12, macOS 10.14 will be a major technical update. Latest versions macOS suffered more than iOS. If iOS did not please with its speed and minor flaws, then in macOS, in addition to the brakes, there were also critical security holes. Last year, Apple even had to formally apologize for two of them. Moreover, Tim Cook personally promised that this will not happen again, and Mac computers will continue to be associated with speed, convenience and security.

The same Bloomberg source clarified that one should not expect a large number of new features in macOS 10.4. Instead, Apple will fix as many bugs as possible and improve performance and stability. This means that Mac owners are in for a great update that will make all their problems a thing of the past.

We emphasize that you should expect new features in macOS 10.14. True, at the moment there is absolutely no information about them.

Project Marzipan

Neither iOS 12 nor macOS 10.14 will feature Apple's original planned features, due to management's desire to improve speed and performance. big amount errors. However, one very important change will occur around the operating systems - its name is the Marzipan project.

As part of this project, Apple intends to combine applications for iOS and macOS into a single whole. Apple's goal is to enable developers to create universal applications that will run on iPhone, iPad and Mac computers.

New universal apps will make life easier for everyone. Users will no longer need to purchase copies of the same application for iPhone/iPad and Mac. And the developers will have no major headache. They will no longer have to waste time and resources to create two applications for iOS and macOS; it will be enough to create one universal application.

watchOS 5

watchOS 5 is a new operating system for Apple Watch. And Apple will not make any enhanced technical improvements in it - the firmware works perfectly even on older smartwatch models. Bloomberg sources already mentioned several times have stated that watchOS 5 will feature many new features and interface changes. However, which ones exactly is a mystery. Not a single watchOS 5 innovation has been confirmed to date.

TVOS 5

The same applies to the firmware for Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K. It is known that tvOS 5 will definitely introduce new functions, and in large numbers, but, alas, there is no certainty. Taking into account the experience of past years, we can confidently assume that we will learn the key innovations of tvOS 5 directly from managers Apple has already during the WWDC 2018 conference.

ARKit 2.0

Since last year, Apple has become more than seriously interested in augmented reality - the company was influenced by the phenomenal success of Pokemon GO and the amazing possibilities shown to the whole world by this game. As a result, in iOS 11 the company introduced the ARKit 1.0 framework, and in iOS 11.3 its improved version ARKit 1.5 with a number of new functions, for example, the ability to process horizontal objects.

ARKit 2.0 is expected to be announced at WWDC 2018. This was directly hinted at by the official conference poster, which depicts various objects, rising above a flat surface. It is still unknown what features will be in ARKit 2.0, but we need to wait for something very interesting.

New iPad Pro with Face ID

Finally, we got to the new devices, of which we can expect quite a few at WWDC 2018. First of all, Apple can present new large-scale updated iPads Pro. Latest leaks indicate that the company will not wait until the fall, and like last year, will announce tablets in June.

There will be two new tablets: with 11- and 12.9-inch displays. In both cases, the iPad Pro will almost completely lose frames around the display. "Pills" will be made in the style iPhone X. And just like the flagship, the new iPads will receive a system front cameras TrueDepth and support for facial recognition Face ID. Apple will be the first tablet manufacturer to integrate this technology. Considering that Face ID is significantly ahead of all similar technologies in development, as analysts say - by two years, Apple will make a real revolution in the field of tablets.

Since the new iPad Pro will have Face ID, they will no longer need the traditional Home button. If you believe numerous leaks, then the tablets will not have it, as well as the entire lower frame, again in iPhone style X. In addition, it is known that “tablets” will receive a system based on the A11X processor, attention, eight-core (!). Other specifications of the new iPad Pro remain under wraps.

Note that many experts are confident that the tablets will still be presented in the fall.

iPhone SE 2

One of the most anticipated Apple devices - compact iPhone SE 2. According to the latest data, this smartphone not being developed at all, even despite a lot of early rumors and fan demands for its release. However, you can still wait for the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC 2018, even if the chances of its release are not very high.

Characteristics and iPhone design SE 2 has not been confirmed for certain. Leaks from 2017 indicated Apple plans By iPhone release SE is in the style of the iPhone 6/7, but authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities has more faith. In his recent report to investors, he stated, that if the iPhone SE 2 comes out, then appearance it will be completely identical to the original model. As for the characteristics, they may be on iPhone level 7, with a slight correction towards worsening.

MacBook Air

Three years after last update MacBook Air Apple has finally made up its mind revive ruler. About this in early March stated several trusted sources at once. They said that new MacBook Air will receive Retina display with a diagonal of 13 inches and decreased Compared to its predecessor, the price tag is subject to more modern characteristics.

It is worth emphasizing that we can see the new MacBook Air before WWDC 2018. According to some leaks, the laptop may go on sale already in late March.

These are the current expectations from WWDC 2018. It’s the very beginning of spring, so in the next few weeks everything may become clearer in much more detail. Stay tuned to this article - we will supplement it with all the latest and verified information.

– at least one and a half years. However, thanks to various leaks, we already partly know what the updates will be.

The version, codenamed "Peace", will change the company's strategy and allow developers to finalize features that will not be ready for the update. Apple does this in order to a new version was more stable, reliable, and had fewer bugs than last year's. IN last years the quality of updates is not so high, and new versions contain more and more bugs and broken functions. Therefore, the company's decision makes sense. However, focusing on software stability does not mean that there will be no new features at all. Below we will talk about all the new features that are known at the moment.

New featuresiOS 12

  • The main feature of iOS 12 will be the unification of iOS and macOS. The project's code name is "Marzipan" and it will allow developers to create one general program, which will work on iPhone/iPad and macOS. Thanks to this, the quality of the program on all platforms will be at the same level.
  • ARKit improvements.
  • Improvements Parental controls, which will give parents more options to limit the time their children spend using the iPhone/iPad.
  • Health app improvements.
  • Improvements to the Promotions app.
  • New set of Animoji with simplified menu.
  • FaceTime conference calls (this feature may be delayed).
  • Support on iPad.
  • Animoji support in FaceTime calls.
  • Integration of Siri with Search and other system elements.
  • Improvements to Do Not Disturb mode with more options.
  • New photo design for iPad.
  • Improved system performance on all device models.
  • Stability improvements.

New features in iOS 13

Apple's new strategy means iOS features 13, which you will see below, were originally supposed to be part of iOS 12. However, due to lack of resources or unavailability of functions, their release had to be delayed for a year. Most of these features are specific to the iPad.

  • New home design iPhone screen and iPad.
  • The ability to open multiple windows in an application on iPad, like multiple tabs in a browser.
  • Ability to open one application in two different windows.
  • New Apple features Pencil.
  • Ability to turn off notifications emails from specific people.
  • New design of the Photo application.
  • New CarPlay design.

Don't forget that iOS 12 and iOS 13 are still in the early stages of development and a lot can change. This is especially true for iOS 13, which is still a year and a half away from release.

Release date of the new iOS 12

iOS 11 amazed users of Apple products with excellent updates and features that greatly simplified the work on the iPhone smartphone and iPad tablet. 2017 is coming to an end. So the operating room iOS system 11 is fading into the background - in 2018 it will be replaced by another version - iOS 12. We bring to your attention the grandiose expected new features of the expected mobile OS.

It’s worth starting with the fact that the release date for iOS 12 is set for September 2018. By tradition, Apple will hold a special presentation for developers in June next year. It is on that day that the beta version of the twelfth version of the popular operating system will be presented. After this event, absolutely any user will be able to install a test version of the OS on their device, which will support iOS 12. It is important to emphasize that the iPhone 5s will lose support for iOS 12. The same fate awaits iPad mini 2 and iPad 4.

iPhone borrows iPad feature

It's likely that the split-screen feature, currently only available on iPad tablets, migrates to iPhone. Support will be provided for iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, as well as iPhone X. In addition, the “ten” will receive multi-window mode, like many devices running Android.

WishList will return to the AppStore

“Wishlist” will return to the AppStore. At the moment iOS release Section 11 WishList was excluded from official store games and applications for iOS devices. This function is intended primarily to allow users to add programs they like to notes so as not to forget about them in the future. The function is useful and was in great demand among users. IN latest iOS 12 this section will be returned.

The control center will be finalized

In iOS 11, the control center has been significantly redesigned. Among the updated elements, a function was added that most iDevice owners did not like. We are talking about the mechanics of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. So, in previous versions of iOS, users could turn these parameters on and off in the control center (“bottom rod”), but in the latest version they cannot. This is necessary primarily for correct operation additional mobile accessories such as Apple Pencil, Apple Watch Series 3.

You can disable these options only in the settings. Users find this aspect not very convenient, so Apple in iOS 12 intends to return the ability to turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and off directly through the control center.

Back button for convenience

It is worth noting that when using a device on iOS 11, there is a need to return to the previous page. But unfortunately, this function is unavailable due to the fact that the iPhone X has lost its physical button, and the update is optimized exclusively for the new Apple gadget.

Apple did not provide for this aspect: users find it inconvenient to big screens"Aim for the small banner located at the top left of the screen." Many people use Touch Assistant for convenience. It is likely that Apple will pay attention to this problem.

Great camera

Majority iOS users considers Apple OS to be intuitive. In some cases this statement is true. However, there are some aspects. For example, many users ask the question: “How to enable/disable location services on iPhone and iPad?” If on Android given the function is located in the notification center, then on iOS you need to go to standard program"Settings".

Camera on iOS devices really clear and easy to use. Many analysts hope that the camera will be equipped with advanced settings directly in standard application. For example, users will be able to set photo and video sizes, mount, and edit them directly in the application.

Apple hasn't updated the camera capabilities of iDevices for quite some time. It is possible that an operating system update in 2018 will bring this feature. After all, Android and Apple are mutually inspired by each other's developments and ideas.

Universal file manager

It's no secret that Apple creates devices and OS for work and business. Coming to iOS 12 file manager, which allows you to synchronize, sort and edit files and documents across all devices. Most likely, this program will also function as an FTP client, which will allow the user to upload files to virtual private servers (VDS/VPS).

Performance and optimization iOS 12 is the fastest iOS ever

The main focus of iOS 12 is on increasing productivity. Apple, as predicted, wanted to restore the reputation of iOS at all costs after the disastrous iOS launch 11. As a result, iOS 12 has become two times faster iOS 11.

Apple developers have tried so hard that iOS 12:

  • launches applications 40% (!) faster compared to iOS 11;
  • 50% faster keyboard operation;
  • opens the Camera application and performs any actions in it 70% (!) faster.

The most important thing is that such a performance increase occurred on absolutely all models of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Including the oldest models, which will be five years old this year. It's about about the widely used ones in Russia and the CIS countries: iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad mini 2. All these devices not only received support for iOS 12 (although according to normal Apple rules they should not have), but were also significantly accelerated.

Apple has officially announced that iOS 12 feels “faster than ever” in live environments. The company executives specifically emphasized that this applies most strongly to the iPhone 5s and iPad Air, so users of these models can expect a truly great experience using their devices under iOS control 12.

Comparisons of iOS 12 with iOS 11 confirm that the performance in the new operating system has improved a lot. Detailed comparisons iOS 12 and iOS 11 are available from the links below:

Accelerated animation

In addition to optimizing iOS 12 to increase speed, Apple developers have also speeded up the animation of most actions. As a result of this, the performance of iOS 12 compared to iOS 11 has increased even more. Below is clear example changes in animation speed and its direct impact on the overall feel of the operating system.

Accelerated QuickType keyboard

About what standard keyboard iOS 12 has become much faster, as we already wrote. But it’s worth focusing on this improvement again. Simply because the keyboard has received a truly rapid operating speed. The animation below shows the improvements most clearly.

FaceTime, Animoji and Memoji

New Animoji

There will also be new Animoji for the iPhone X, and in the near future for the three new iPhone models that will be presented in September. To the already impressive list of Animoji were added: koala, tiger, ghost and tyrannosaurus. The peculiarity of the new Animoji is that they incredibly accurately convey not only facial expressions, but also tongue movements. Previously, this was not the case either with Apple or, of course, with other manufacturers whose Animoji analogues compared to high-quality models iPhone manufacturer they look really funny.

Ability to record Animoji for 30 seconds

iPhone X users have the ability to record short videos using Animoji to send to friends. In iOS 11, such videos could have a maximum length of only 10 seconds. In iOS 12, Apple offered Animoji video recording for a full 30 seconds.

Improved Animoji selection interface

Selecting Animoji in iOS 12 has become more convenient. If previously in the Messages application the list of Animoji was vertical, now it is horizontal with large thumbnails. Animoji can be selected by swiping left or right. In addition, it is possible to open full list all available animoji by swiping up.

Memoji (memoji)

Memoji is Apple's answer to Samsung and its Animoji counterpart. Presenting Galaxy S9 Samsung company introduced AR Emoji - animated emoticons based not on a cartoon character, but on the user’s face. The quality of AR Emoji left much to be desired, so Samsung's innovation was called a failure. Apple got a similar “feature” with a solid five points.

Memoji do not scan a person’s face; they are created in a special editor in the Messages application. This editor features hundreds of different face parts and accessories, allowing you to create a character that truly resembles the user. Once created, the characters can be used to write messages to friends, as is the case with regular Animoji. The function is for entertainment, nothing more, but even Apple implemented it in its own style - perfectly.

Support for stickers, animoji and memoji in FaceTime

In group or personal video calls using FaceTime in iOS 12, users can use additional entertainment tools. Apple has given users the ability to send stickers during a conversation, as well as activate Animoji or Memoji in order to appear in front of friends in various cartoon images.

iMessage

Processing photos and videos in iMessage

The Messages app in iOS 12 has added the ability to process sent photos or videos as quickly as possible. Users are invited to apply Animoji to the video or add one of the many effects, text, or an object, such as an arrow or a checkmark, to the photo. A new feature in the Messages app aims to make it easier to process photos and videos you send.

Full shooting mode in the Messages app

When you take a photo or video from the Messages app, it opens to send instantly in iOS 12. full screen mode cameras. Thanks to this, users will have a much greater chance of creating high quality photo or video from the first time. In previous versions of iOS, the camera window was a small square right in the application interface.

The panel with stickers and extensions has moved

Panel with stickers, animoji and extensions various applications in the Messages app in iOS 12 has moved. It is located above the keyboard, and not below it, as it was before. The new placement of the panel is much more convenient, in particular, because there are much fewer accidental clicks on it. As in iOS 11, there is no way to hide the panel completely.

Quick shortcuts in the Messages app

In iOS 12, tapping a contact's name in the Messages app opens new panel With quick shortcuts. They allow you to connect with a contact via audio or video via FaceTime and view detailed information about him. In previous versions of iOS there was no such panel; you could only call a caller by pressing hard on his icon.

ARKit 2 - new augmented reality

With the arrival of iOS 12, Apple will launch a new and improved ARKit 2.0 augmented reality platform. The updated platform will allow developers to create impressive applications and games with support for augmented reality. Applications built with ARKit 2 can be used by multiple people at the same time. They can view augmented reality objects from different angles, which greatly expands the capabilities of applications.

Roulette application

ARKit 2 also allows you to measure objects. iOS 12 introduces a new app called Measure, which offers the ability to quickly and easily determine the size of even relatively large real-world objects.

To measure an object, you need to point the camera at it and place two points on it. The measurement occurs instantly, and most importantly - with the highest accuracy. Similar roulette applications based on the first versions of ARKit have been presented in the App Store for a long time, but they cannot compare with Apple’s Roulette.

The “Roulette” application did not appear on all devices with iOS support 12. New useful utility became available only on iPhone and iPad with ARKit support:

  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone X
  • iPad Pro (all models)
  • iPhone 2017
  • iPhone 2018

New location of the “Level” function

The standard “Level” function has changed its usual location on ARKit-enabled devices. If previously it was located in the Compass application, now it has its own tab in the Roulette application.

Screen Time feature

At the beginning of 2018, human rights activists drew attention to the fact that teenagers are spending more and more time on smartphones and tablets, in particular on iPhones and iPads. Several departments immediately asked Apple to somehow influence the situation. Apple didn’t have to do much convincing and a new feature appeared in iOS 12 “ Screen time”.

The feature allows you to monitor how users spend time using their iPhone and iPad. The function works similarly to the battery consumption monitoring option, showing a usage graph mobile device and specific activity in certain applications. Users have the ability to set restrictions on activity in any applications and games installed on the iPhone or iPad.

Thanks to new feature Parents can limit the use of “harmful” applications for their children in the simplest way. For example, if your child watches too much YouTube, then in iOS 12 you can set a limit on watching videos in the application. When the time limit you specify reaches the end, the application will stop running.

Block all distracting apps

One of the main features of the new Screen Time feature is the option to block all applications except those that the user has added to the allowed list. Applications can be blocked for a specific period of time or according to a specified schedule. An hourglass icon appears on applications that are blocked for use, which indicates that the application cannot be opened at this time.

The function will be useful not only for parents who want to limit their children's use of various applications or games. Many users may well want to set limits for themselves, for example during periods of active work or study, when the iPhone or iPad is one of the most distracting factors.

Screen Time widget

The Screen Time feature also has its own widget. It allows you to see statistics as quickly and easily as possible using iPhone or iPad for today on the widgets page.

Redesigned “Notification Center”

One of the most long-awaited and user-requested innovations is the updated Notification Center. Apple listened to consumers and provided them with flexible notification list settings. In iOS 12, users were able to group notifications by application, as well as manage notifications directly from the Notification Center.

Smart grouping of notifications

By default, iPhones and iPads running iOS 12 have smart notification grouping enabled for all apps. Notifications are grouped not just by application, but also taking into account the preferences of each specific user. Thanks to this, the most important notifications always appear at the top of the list, which will be especially convenient for those users who receive a large number of notifications from various applications.

Quickly set up notifications for any application

In iOS 12, users have the ability to immediately access app notification settings directly from the Notification Center. To do this, you need to hold down on any incoming notification, click on the icon ( ) and select “Settings”. A very convenient option that will allow you to change the type of notifications from applications in a matter of seconds and without having to delve into the settings.

Quickly mute notification sounds for specific apps

Another nice tweak to Notification Center. By holding down on any notification and clicking the familiar icon ( ), users have the opportunity to silence all notifications from the selected application in two clicks. In this case, notifications will continue to appear in the Notification Center, but no soundtrack there won't be any when they appear.

New notification settings interface

There is also a small but pleasant change in the notification settings themselves. Large and clear thumbnails have appeared on the notification settings page that show exactly how notifications will be displayed on the screen.

Improved Do Not Disturb mode

Do Not Disturb mode, as we predicted, has become better in iOS 12. It offers more in the update flexible settings. So, you can quickly turn it on for only 1 hour, until the end of the current event from the “Calendar” or, for example, before leaving the current geoposition.
