Create flaming objects in Photoshop. How to make professional fire effects in Photoshop

Today I will tell you how animation is done in Photoshop CS6, we will decorate a holiday tree with flickering lights. New Year's animation in Photoshop is very simple to do, you will definitely succeed.

First we need a Christmas tree, I found a photo on the Internet, you can use my source, and if you have already put up a Christmas tree at home, it will be even more interesting for you to animate it!

Let's get started

Preparing an image for animation

Open the photo - “Ctrl + O”, select the picture on the computer and click “Open”.

Go to the “Layers” layer palette by pressing the F7 key.

The palette initially contains only one layer with our image.

We create new layer- press the hot keys Crtl+Shift+N, or click on the new layer icon in the layers palette.

On the tool palette on the left we find the brush tool - Brush Tool (B).

IN top panel select the loaded brush with a spark, clicking on the small arrow to open the brushes panel, it will be the last one in the list. I made a brush impression in separate document so you can see what brush I used. I chose 90 px brush diameter, if you want, you can choose a smaller diameter, then the lights will be smaller.

Now you need to choose a color for the lights. Click on the top square at the bottom of the toolbar to set the color. Choose any one you want, preferably brighter, we have a festive Christmas tree. I chose pink.

After choosing a color, we draw lights on our Christmas tree in random places. We click on one place several times to make the print brighter, then move on to another. We do not paint the lights all over the tree with one color, but leave room for a second color.

When you have placed all the lights, create a duplicate layer by pressing Ctrl+J (to make the lights even brighter), then merge the layers - select the top layer and press Ctrl+E (allows you to merge the layer with the bottom). Immediately rename the layer by double-clicking the layer name in the Layers palette. Give all the layers meaningful names to make working with them easier later. I named my layer “Pink Lights”.

Create a new layer -Crtl+Shift+N, or click on the new layer icon in the layers palette.

Change the color that will be used to draw by again clicking on the square at the bottom of the toolbar. Let's choose something else, I chose blue.

We draw the lights again in other places. Name the layer “Blue Lights”.

Now our Christmas tree lights up with lights of two colors.

Let's create another layer.

Reduce the diameter of the brush a little, select White color.

Draw white luminous centers on top of the already created lights.

Combine the layers with pink and blue lights (select the layer with blue lights in the palette, press Ctrl+E).

Now we have three layers in the palette: 1. background, 2. layer with two types of lights and 3. layer with white centers.

Select the layer with pink and blue lights, it is in the middle. Press Ctrl+J to create a duplicate layer.

Turn off the visibility of the first layer with lights by clicking on the eye opposite the layer in the list of layers, work on a duplicate of the layer that we just created.

IN Christmas tree garlands The lights change color periodically, let's also change the color of the layer with the duplicate lights.

Press Ctrl+U to open the Hue/Saturation adjustment window.

Move the slider in the Hue( Color tone) to change color, stop when you are satisfied with the result. You can also increase the Saturation to increase color depth.

Since we have two colors of lights on one layer, they will both change at the same time.

Copy the layer with colored lights again with Ctrl+J. Turn off the visibility of the previous layer by clicking on the eye.

Select the third layer with the lights, change the color again with Ctrl+U, move the Hue slider, and click OK.

Now we have three different layers with colored lights.

Making animation

Let's move on to creating animation in Photoshop.

Go to the “Window” menu - “Timeline” (Window - Timeline).

The timeline opens, in which the first frame is already displayed.

The current frames in the timeline contain all visible layers.

Thus, in the first frame we show those layers whose visibility we did not hide: the background, the third layer with lights and the layer with white centers.

In total we will have three frames with different colors of lights. The first frame is already there.

Create the second frame - click on the second icon from the right at the bottom of the timeline.

On the second frame we still have the same layers as on the first.

Now we need to turn off the third layer with colored lights and turn on the second one so that in the new frame the tree lights up in different colors.

Create the third and final frame.

Turn off the second layer in the layers palette and turn on the first.

That's it, our key frames are ready.

Now we create additional frames by selecting key frames one by one and clicking on the third icon from the right at the bottom of the timeline. We need additional personnel to achieve smooth transition between keyframes.

Select the first frame on the timeline. Click on the icon with circles.

In the window that appears, indicate required amount additional personnel. I put 2.

After this, 2 intermediate keyframes will appear between the first and second keyframes. This will move the second keyframe to the 4th position from the left in the timeline.

Select it, click the button to add additional frames, and also indicate 2 frames.

Almost finished. We select the last frame on the timeline; we also need to create intermediate frames for it, but unlike the first two frames, where the default value was (Next Frame), we select “First Frame” from the drop-down menu to loop the animation.

We set the settings for the duration of display of each frame - 0.1 seconds (you can experiment with the duration of display of frames, slowing down or reducing the playback delay), and for the entire animation to “Continuous”, so that it repeats endlessly.

Select the first frame and start playing the animation.

In this lesson we looked at how to create an animation of a Christmas tree in Photoshop. I hope you enjoyed the lesson!

Fire is pure light. It is mobile, has an intangible nature and appears to be alive. Wildlife Fire is not so easy to capture in a static painting, but if you succeed, your paintings will become as alive as the fire itself.

In this tutorial you will learn all about fire and its forms, as well as how to recreate these different forms of fire in the program. Adobe Photoshop. We use the same tools that you probably use all the time, but today you will find out that they are much more unique than you thought!

So let's get started!

1. Draw a Flame

Step 1

Create new document(Ctrl+N), fill it (G) with black. Bright light is visible only in the dark - when you light a fire in the daytime, it looks weak and lifeless. If you are using White background, then no matter how hard you try to draw the fire, it will not become brighter.

Create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N). Using a tool Ellipse(Ellipse Tool (U)) hold down the Shift key and draw a circle. The color of the circle is not that important.

Step 2

Double-click on the layer and in the window that appears, select the option Gradient overlay(Gradient Overlay). Gradient type Radial(Radial).

Translator's note: Double-click on the layer with the circle you drew.

Author's Note: Every time you go to the settings window, do not try to copy/paste exact values- instead, try to create the effect I suggest by self-selection colors and slider offsets.

Translator's note: To diversify the textures of fire, the author suggests playing with colors for all forms of fire and choosing color shades yourself.

The value of the settings will depend on the resolution of your picture.

Set the following color shades for the gradient (no need to use exact numbers color shades, even if you remember them):

  1. White: #ffffff
  2. Desaturated yellow: #fefde1
  3. Rich yellow: #fff68f
  4. Yellowish-orange: #fbb245
  5. Reddish orange: #ca4a0c

Step 3

Click right click mouse over the layer with the circle and in the window that appears, select the option Rasterize Layer Styles(Rasterize Layer Style). Next, go (Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur). Experiment with the blur radius to blur the edges of the circle.

Translator's note: who is worth more early version, just select the option Rasterize layer (Rasterize Layer).

Step 4

This is the most an important part, and also the most difficult, so be patient here. Create a duplicate of the circle layer (Ctrl+J), hide the visibility of the original circle layer so that you have a backup copy. Next, go to the duplicate layer and then select Filter - Plastic(Filter > Liquify).

Using a tool Deformation(Forward Warp Tool) warp the flame to get the shape you want. Use the screenshot below as an example.

Step 5

When you're done, double-click on the flame layer and select the option in the window that appears. Externalglow(Outer Glow). Add color to the outer glow and play with the parameters Size(Size) and Opacity(Opacity).

Step 6

If you want to create more vibrant colors, go to Image - Correction - Brightness / Contrast(Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast) and then play with the contrast settings.

Step 7

The flame of fire is a constant movement, so the fire looks fake if it is static. To avoid this effect, go to (Filter > Blur > Motion Blur).

2. Color the Flame

Step 1

How about magical colored flames? With correction, you can always change Color tone(Hue (Ctrl+U)) flames, but in this case, you will kill the unique connection between red, orange and yellow. I'll show you another way.

Hide the effects for now (turn off the layer style External glow(Outer Glow)). Let's go Image - Correction - Black and white(Image > Adjustments > Black & White).

Step 2

Add a correction Gradient map(Gradient Map), for this we go Image - Correction - Gradient Map(Image > Adjustments > Gradient Map). Change the blending mode to Hard light(Hard Light), and also convert (Ctrl+Alt+G) to a clipping mask for the flame layer.

Translator's note: instead of correction, add an adjustment layer Gradient map(GradientMap) as a clipping mask to the flame layer, and also change the blending mode for this adjustment layer to Hard light(HardLight).

Step 3

Experiment with gradient colors. Left side gradient will be reflected in the dark areas of the flame, and Right side the gradient will be reflected in the light areas of the flame.

Step 4

Turn the layer style visibility back on External glow(Outer Glow) to add color to the edges of the flame.

Step 5

You can color the flame any color of your choice using this technique. However, keep in mind that some flame colors will not look natural, this is because we are not used to them, not because they are colored “wrong”. You just need to make sure that the color inside the flame is lighter than the color on the edges.

3. Draw Fire

So, we have considered interesting way creating a simple flame, but what if we want it to be a big fire? Let's try another great technique if you decide to draw fire close-up.

Step 1

Same as before, create a new document, color background- black, and also create a new layer. Using a hard round brush, paint the base for the fire.

Step 2

Double-click the base layer to apply a layer style Inner glow(Inner Glow). Choose a rich, reddish-orange shade (for example, #ff5a00).

The effect should look like the screenshot below:

Step 3

Step 4

In the same way as we created a regular flame, apply a Liquify filter, for this we go Filter - Plastic(Filter > Liquify), as well as the Deformation(Forward Warp Tool (W)) to create flames.

Step 5

Add a layer mask to the fire layer. Use a soft round brush with By pressing(Flow) 50% to make the fire more moving.

Translator's note: the author softens the edges, giving the fire a more realistic look.

If you're not familiar with working with a layer mask:

  • Click on the mask to enter mask mode.
  • Here you can only use a black or white brush.
  • The black brush color hides the elements of the main layer, and the white brush color restores.

Using the same technique, add flames.

Step 6

Create a new layer. Double click on the new layer to apply the layer style Inner glow(Inner Glow), adding a yellowish-orange color. Create a more intense glow.

Translator's note: The author first applies layer styles to the new layer and then paints additional fire details.

Draw another part of the fire on this layer.

Step 7

Apply the filter again Plastic(Liquify) to create flames.

In the same way, you can add more flames.

Step 8

Create a new layer. Again Inner glow(Inner Glow).

Apply a pale yellow-white gradient:

Draw small fire fragments on a new layer.

Step 9

Apply filter Plastic(Liquify) to create a fire texture.

Step 10

Change the blending mode to Overlap(Overlay) to get a beautiful, iridescent texture.

Using the same technique, add small flames. The only thing, do not forget that the overlay mode is Overlap(Overlay) increases the effect each time, so be careful here.

Step 11

Create a new layer. Paint small white strokes on the lightest areas.

Step 12

Step 13

If they stand out too much, add a layer mask to blend them with the entire fire texture.

Step 14

If you want to make the fire even more alive, you can add Motion blur(Motion Blur) to each fragment of fire, each time slightly changing the angle of the blur.

Step 15

We must not forget that fire is a source of light. It has no shadow, but instead, other objects around the fire create shadows from the fire.

Step 16

The beauty of this technique is that you can easily edit the fire to suit your requirements at any given time. You can add layers, change colors, or warp the flames to get the effect you like.

4. Draw Sparks

Step 1

Create a new document. Draw three small spots far apart from each other. Next, go (Edit > Define Brush Preset).

Step 2

Step 3

We return to our working document with fire. Create a new layer. Draw sparks. Use a reddish or yellowish-orange shade, but never use a yellow shade for these purposes.

Step 4

You can add Motion blur(Motion Blur) to the sparks, but this blur must be synchronized with the blur of the flames.

Step 5

Let's make the sparks even brighter. Double-click the sparkles layer to add a layer style External glow(Outer Glow), orange color.

Step 6

If you want the sparks to become even brighter, then duplicate the sparks layer (Ctrl+J). You can also change Brightness/Contrast(Brightness/Contrast) effect at your discretion.

Translator's note: to change the brightness, you can apply an adjustment layer Brightness/Contrast(Brightness/contrast).

5. Draw Lava: Cracked Lava Fragment

Step 1

You can use this "texture" on any surface you like. I'll show you this on a ball, but you can use any lava fragment shape without hesitation.

Let's start with a dark base, for this we will use a desaturated Blue colour(for example #1e1f26). This will give a nice contrast to the lava.

Step 2

Create a new layer. Double click on it to apply the layer style Pattern overlap(Pattern Overlay). You can use the concrete texture (from the set Texture fill(Texture Fill) ), from most stone textures that will look great here. Convert this layer into a clipping mask to the base layer (Ctrl+Alt+G) or hold down the Alt key+click between two layers in the layers palette.

Step 3

Right-click on the texture layer and select the option from the menu that appears Rasterize Layer Style(Rasterize Layer Style). Change the blending mode to Overlap(Overlay).

Step 4

Now, adjust the shape of the texture to match the shape of your base. Below are the main correction methods:

  1. Using a filter Distortion(Distort), for this we go Filter - Distortion - Spherization(Filter > Distort > Spherize) to create a sphere (your texture must be positioned in the center of the document to apply this filter properly).
  2. Using the tool Free Transformation(Free Transform Tool), holding down the (Ctrl) key + dragging the anchor points to correct the texture with perspective.
  3. Using the tool Free Transformation(Free Transform Tool) mode Deformation(Warp) to correct the texture in more complex shape(for example, the body of a monster).

Step 5

Duplicate the base layer (Ctrl+J), then merge the duplicate layer with the texture layer (Ctrl+E). Convert the merged layer into a clipping mask (Ctrl+Alt+G) if necessary. Add a layer mask and use a hard brush to paint cracks through which the background will be visible.

Translator's note: 1 Add a layer mask to the merged layer 2. Using a black hard brush, paint cracks on the layer mask.

Step 6

Double click on the layer to apply the layer style Embossing(Bevel & Emboss), adding bright Orange color in mode Backlights(Highlight). Reduce mode Shadows(Shadow) to 0.

Step 7

Create a new layer below the texture layer ( Translator's note: below the merged layer). Hold down the Ctrl key + click on the layer mask of the texture layer to load the active selection. Invert (Ctrl+Shift+I) and then Fill (G) with any color.

Step 8

Double click on the new layer to apply the layer style Inner glow(Inner Glow), set a yellow-orange gradient (#fc4d12, #fffe00). Change the blending mode to Hard light(Hard Light), install Method(Technique) Accurate(Precise) and play with the settings Contour(Contour).

Step 9

In the same layer style settings window, add a layer style Pattern overlap(Pattern Overlay). Most stone textures will work just fine; I used the Mountains pattern (from the set Texture fill(Texture Fill)).

Step 10

Add a layer mask to the base layer. Use a hard round brush to highlight the cracks.

Step 11

Create a new layer below the base layer. Using a soft round brush By pressing(Flow) 50%, add an orange glow near the cracks.

Step 12

Change the brush color to yellow and then paint next to the lava flows to add a glow.

Step 13

When shading the rest of the base, remember that the lava is a source of light and should not be shaded.

Step 14

If you don't like the blue-red contrast, you can always change the texture color (Ctrl+B) to a more reddish tint. This would be a great solution if the sky/environment in your painting is also a reddish hue.

6. Drawing Lava: Eruption

Step 1

Create a new document. Using a tool Lasso(Lasso Tool (L)), create a drawing like in the screenshot below. Fill the created image with black (G). Next, let's go Editing - Define Brush(Edit > Define Brush).

Step 2

Go to the brush settings panel (F5). Apply the following settings:

Step 3

I created a very simple lava eruption scene, but you can create your own version of the eruption at your discretion.

Now, using a new brush, paint the erupting "wave" of lava. Use a reddish-orange color first...

Then yellowish-orange...

And finally, yellowish.

Step 4

Combine the erupting waves (Ctrl+E) and then let's go Filter - Blur- Blur in move(Filter > Blur > Motion Blur) to give it a more dynamic feel.

Step 5

Create a new layer. Using a tool Rectangle(Rectangle Tool (U)), draw a large white rectangle.

Step 6

Translator's note: the program will offer to rasterize the figure, click OK.

Step 7

Step 8

Create a new layer, transform this layer into a clipping mask to the previous layer (Ctrl+Alt+G). Fill it with a rich reddish-orange color, and also change the blending mode for this layer to Hard light(Hard Light). Merge both layers (Ctrl+E).

Step 9

Step 10

Select a soft round brush. Install Pressure(Flow) 50%, and mode - on Dissolution(Dissolve).

Add a layer mask and then fill the layer mask with black to hide the image on the layer. Next, switch the brush color to white and use the white brush to paint just around the flow.

Translator's note: paint in the center of the erupting lava to add texture.

Step 11

Let's customize our “spark brush” that we created earlier. We need to adjust the brush so that the sparkles become a little more intense:

Step 12

If you want, you can add a little dynamics to the sparks, for this we go Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur(Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur).

Step 13

Don't forget about your surroundings, lava is very powerful source Sveta!

7. Drawing Lava: Lava Flows

Step 1

First, paint the base for our "lava river" using the eruption brush. Again, start with a reddish-orange shade and add yellow as you get closer to the hole. To create a lava flow, create a separate layer.

Don't forget that lava is not water, it is more like a heavy, thick mass and the colder it gets, the slower it moves. Obviously, the hottest lava is near the hole, and then it gradually cools down.

For the topmost layer you can use blending mode Overlap(Overlay) to make the light part of the lava even brighter.

Step 2

Create a new layer. Fill it with any color. Double click on it to apply the layer style Pattern overlap(Pattern Overlay). Select Satin texture as a pattern (from the set Patterns(Patterns)), then rasterize the layer style by right-clicking and selecting from the menu that appears Rasterize Layer Style(Rasterize Layer Style).

Step 3

Convert the texture layer into a clipping mask for the lava flow layer (Ctrl+Alt+G). Apply the tool Free Transformation(Free Transform Tool (Ctrl+T)) and in mode Deformation(Warp), adjust the texture according to perspective.

Step 4

Change the blending mode of the texture layer to Soft light(Soft Light), and also reduce Opacity(Opacity) of the layer up to 50%.

Step 5

When lava cools, it turns into a solid block. This is a gradual process - at first the movement of the lava slows down, it thickens and darkens at the top, and a hard “shell” appears on the surface (like foam on milk). This creates a distinctive pattern, and I'll show you how to achieve this effect without using a brush.

Create the same chaotic pattern we created when creating the eruption (hint: Add noise(Add Noise) Crystallization(Crystallize)).

Step 6

Duplicate the layer several times (Ctrl+J), then merge the layers (Ctrl+E) to get a clearer pattern.

Step 7

Convert the pattern layer into a clipping mask to the previous layer (Ctrl+Alt+G) and use the tool Free Transformation(Free Transform Tool (Ctrl+T)), rotate the pattern.

Step 8

Next, let's go Filter - Plastic(Filter > Liquify) and apply the tool Deformation(Warp Tool (W)) to add "waves". Using the editor Curves(Curves (Ctrl+M)), increase the contrast a little, making the pattern clearer.

Step 9

Step 10

Now, change the blending mode to Multiplication(Multiply).

Step 11

Duplicate the previous pattern (Ctrl+J). Change the blending mode of the duplicate layer to Normal(Normal). Move the pattern down slightly to fill the space between the stripes ( Translator's note: Press the down arrow key approximately twice and the left arrow key once). Next, double-click on the layer to go to the Blending Options window. Play with the sector settings Apply if(Blend If) to make dark areas transparent.

Step 12

Add a layer mask to both layers. Using a soft round brush By pressing(Flow) 50%, combine with the lava flow, creating a beautiful transition.

Step 13

You can use the same trick to create light "wrinkles" at the top of a lava flow.

Step 14

Don't forget to add lighting around environment! Also, remember that the lava flow itself does not create smoke until it comes into contact with something wet (in in this case, steam is created) or does not burn anything in its path.

8. Drawing Lava: Embers

Step 1

Just like with the cracked lava fragment, I'll show you this on a simple sphere, but you can use the same steps on other shapes or surfaces.

Create a new layer using the tool Ellipse(Ellipse Tool), draw a circle. Double click on the circle layer to apply yellow-orange Radial Gradient (Radial gradient).

Step 2

Create a new layer, fill it with any color. Double click on the layer to apply the layer style Pattern overlap(Pattern Overlay). Select the Rust Flakes texture as your pattern (from the Textures(Textures)). Convert the pattern layer into a clipping mask for the circle layer (Ctrl+Alt+G).

Step 3

Rasterize the layer, apply the pattern deformation to the circle shape in the same way as we did with the lava fragment.

Step 4

Change the blending mode to Overlap(Overlay). The first stage is completed - the circle has become like the sun, isn't it? This is the hottest coal.

Step 5

Duplicate the pattern layer (Ctrl+J), change the blending mode for the duplicate layer to Darkening the base(Color Burn) to cool the sphere a little.

Step 6

Let's add a "crust" of burnt and cooled material. Create a new layer, convert it to a clipping mask, fill it with any color. Add a Web texture as a pattern (choosing from the set Texture fill 2(Texture Fill 2)), rasterize the layer style.

Translator's note: don't forget to add a layer style Pattern overlap(PatternOverlay).

Using a tool Free Transformation(Free Transform Tool (Ctrl+T)), increase the scale of the pattern.

Adjust the pattern to fit the circle shape.

Step 7

Invert the color (Ctrl+I).

Step 8

We want the white areas to become transparent. Double-click the layer to open the Blending Options window. Let's go to the sector Apply if(Blend If) and play with the sliders to get the following effect.

Step 9

Change the blending mode to Multiplication(Multiply) to get rid of any white residue.

Step 10

Add a layer mask to the base circle layer. Use a layer mask to highlight the smoldering crust. For these purposes, you can also use the tool Eraser(Eraser Tool (E)).

Translator's note: Use a black brush to paint inside the black holes to improve contrast.

Step 11

Create a new layer below the previous layers and use a soft round brush with By pressing(Flow) 50%, add glow in the same way as we did with the lava.

Step 12

Using a tool Magic wand(Magic Wand Tool (W)), select the burnt fragments of the crust. Create a new layer, fill it with any color. Place this layer below the burnt crust fragments.

Step 13

Double click on the layer to add a reddish tint using a layer style Inner glow(Inner Glow).

Step 14

If you want the lava to cool down even more, add a red tint. You can also add a bluish-gray tint over the burnt crust fragments.

9. Draw a Jet of Flame

Let's draw a dragon flame! It is too interesting technique to create fire. The created effect looks good from a distance, for example, a burning house or forest or magical fireballs.

Step 1

Using the Oil Pastel brush, paint a flame like in the screenshot below. The stronger the pressure, the longer and thinner the flame will be.

Step 2

Double click on the layer to apply a yellow tint to the layer style Inner glow(Inner Glow) and a reddish tint to the layer style External glow(Outer Glow), this way we will get bright edges.

Step 3

Rasterize the layer styles. Let's go Filter - Blur - Motion Blur(Filter > Blur > Motion Blur). Use the angle according to the direction of the flame.

Step 4

Create a new layer below the flame layer. Using our Eruption brush, add some reddish-orange flames.

Step 5

Step 6

Apply the filter again Motion blur(Motion Blur). Don't forget that the flame will always try to rise up, no matter what its original direction was.

Step 7

Create a new layer. Draw small flames, adding a yellowish tint. Apply two types of blur.

Step 8

Create a new layer on top of the main flame. This time draw a yellow fire engulfing the white flame.

Step 9

Create a new layer. Draw many flames using any color.

Step 10

Double click on the layer to apply the layer style Pattern overlap(Pattern Overlay), select the Wrinkles texture as a pattern (from the set Patterns(Patterns)).

Step 11

Rasterize the layer style, change the blending mode to Soft light(Soft Light). Play with opacity(Opacity) if the effect is too saturated.

Step 12

Create a new layer. Add some white brush strokes to the yellow area of the flame.

Step 13

Add to them Gaussian blur(Gaussian Blur).

Step 14

Don't forget to add smoke!

Fire is sometimes necessary for collages, but copying fire from another image may not produce the desired result. IN Photoshop program There is a function that allows you to draw almost realistic flames. For this purpose, you need to use the Pen tool.

Open the image with the fireplace (example).

Create a new layer. Draw a line and round the corners. See how to use the Pen tool in more detail.

We apply a filter that will create flames.

In the dialog box, select the flame type.

We delete the previous outline.

Draw a new outline in a new layer.

Using the “Fire” filter we create a tongue of flame. Using the Warp function, you can distort the flame.

Create a new layer. Create a new path and apply it to it Extra options flame.

Create a duplicate of this flame layer. We reflect it horizontally.

In the layers window, select the layers with the fire flame: move the mouse to the first layer that needs to be selected and, while holding down the Shift key, click on the last layer that needs to be selected. Merging selected layers into a group: combination Shift keys and G.

Add a layer mask to the group and use a soft brush of black color to hide the extra areas with fire.

We imitate the reflections of fire. Under the group with the flames, create a new layer and with a soft brush the color of the fire, paint a spot.

Change the layer's blending mode to Overlay.

Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and reduce the saturation.

Create a Color Fill adjustment layer and set the color to blue. Change the blending mode to Overlay.

Go to the top layer and use the Rectangular Marquee tool to select the entire image. In the “Editing” tab, select “Copy combined data” and “Paste”. Apply a highlight to the flattening layer, which will enhance the effect of the reflection of the fire. In the “Filter” tab, select Camera raw and with the help radial filter create a highlight.

New Year holidays are very close! This tutorial shows you how, in just a few steps, using simple techniques, create an elegant and shining image against a rich background christmas tree. The techniques outlined here will help you create great greeting cards and desktop wallpaper.

Here's an example New Year's cards in another color:

1 Step

Create a new document with dimensions 1000x1000px.

2 Step

After that, create a new layer on top of the others (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N) and using a soft Brush Tool with black color, paint over the lower area of the layer so that it looks approximately like in the picture (Note per.: although this layer looks like another gradient from black to transparent).

Change the Opacity of this layer to 50%

3 Step

Now I will use my star brush set. You can download anything suitable online at your discretion. Load a set of brushes into your Photoshop.

Here in the brush selection window you will need to click on the small arrow and select the Load Brushes menu item. Find the brush set you downloaded from the Web and attach it to Photoshop.

4 Step

After that, create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N) and apply several large bright cross-shaped stars to the document.

5 Step

6 Step

After that, switch to Pen tool Tool (P) and start drawing a path with this pen, as shown in my picture. Try to create exactly the silhouette of the Christmas tree. Although there cannot be an ideal here - only creativity.

7 Step

8 Step

Check if you are on the right layer and if you have a working path selected. Go to the Paths palette and click on the Stroke Path With Brush button, which is located at the bottom of the palette.

I'm sure you liked my result, even if you noticed it with one eye in a small window. Well, here it is full version Images:

9 Step

Find another star in your brush set and change the brush size to something more noticeable. Make sure your Shape Dynamics and Scattering settings are disabled. Create a new layer and add several bright, large lights of different sizes to the tree.

10 Step

Place another star on the top of the Christmas tree - the largest one.

11 Step

After that, pick up the pen again Pen Tool(P) and create another path as shown in mine.

12 Step

Then I switched to another brush (called Fuzzball - it's included in the standard Photoshop distribution). In the brush settings window I set the following parameters.

13 Step

Once again, I made sure that I had the current working path selected in the Layers palette and that I created a new layer for the next garland. Then click on the Stroke Path With Brsuh button at the bottom of the Paths palette.

After this, duplicate the resulting layer several times and place the duplicates along the entire height of the tree. At the same time, I, of course, reduced them in size when Help Free Transform (Ctrl + T) and rotate it a little counterclockwise.

In this Photoshop tutorial for beginners we will learn how to transform regular photography girls, in a stunning illustration of fiery passion. The idea behind this conversion is to create a nice looking illustration while using simple methods and tools such as: Brush tool and Warp command.

Step 1. For this lesson, the creator used two photographs that suited the idea of his lesson. The first is a photograph of a girl, which can be downloaded from this link. The next one is a photograph of flames that can be detected. For writing this lesson The writer used Photoshop CS3.

Promotion 2. Let's open the photo with the girl and create a duplicate of her document ImageDuplicate(Figure - Create a duplicate). Let's call the duplicate "Fiery Possession" The original file can be closed. Next we will work with the duplicate.

Gait 3. Duplicate the layer "background"(reverse plan) (Ctrl+J). Set the foreground and background coloring to black and gray (key press D on keyboard). Select bark "background"(background) and fill it with black (Alt+Delete). See the picture below.

Step 4. Select “Layer 1”, Click (Shift+Ctrl+U) to apply the command Desaturate(Decolorize). Pot invert color by pressing key combination (Ctrl+I). Your picture should look like a photographic negative.

Gait 5. Duplicate "Layer 1"(Layer 1) and apply filter Filter – Stylized – Find Edges(Filter – Stylize – Edge Enhancement). Trace invert the color by pressing the key combination (Ctrl+I) and change the blend order for the layer to HardLight(Coarsened light). The outline of the image is now displayed as a contrasting white line on a very dark background.

Step 6. To add more contrast to the white line, duplicate the ectoplasm “Layer 1 copy”
(Layer 1 copy) and change the blending rules for the layer to Screen(Lightening).

Promotion 7. Now open the second drawing and drag it onto the paper “Fiery Passion” using a tool Move tool(Move). In the dialog box that appears, click OK to make a choice.

Step 8 The fire image today will have a layer name "Layer 2"(Epidermis 2). Change the layer's blending mode to Screen(Dodge) – this will hide the dark color on the layer "Layer 2"(Endoderma 2). If you did everything correctly, then your image will look like the one in the picture below.

Promotion 9. Duplicate the layer "Layer 2"(Blitz 2) by pressing the key combination (Ctrl+J). Make sure the new layer is set to layer blending system Screen(Lightening), the same as on the original layer "Layer 2"(Stratosphere 2). Then, do "Layer 2"(Photosphere 2) invisible by hiding it in the layers panel.

Promotion 10. Select “Layer 2 copy”(Exosphere 2) to make it active, then use the key combination (Ctrl+T) to roll out and resize the image as shown below. Don't forget to press down the key ENTER after you finish the conversion.

Gait 12. If you think the product is not good enough, use the filter Filter-Liquify(Filter – Plastic) to eliminate minor imperfections. The writer used the tool Forward Warp tool(Deformation)and Twirl Clockwise tool(Twisting along the guard arrow) - to get the result as in the figure below.

Promotion 13. Duplicate the layer “Layer 2 copy”(Stratosphere 2), then use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+T), to resize and rotate the fire image in the current layer. Transform and place the cover approximately as in the picture:

Gait 14. Repeat the previous process to cover all the hair with flame. Duplicate and change the endoderm until you cover all the hair with fire. Use a filter if necessary Filter-Liquify(Filter – Plastic). The output of this process should look similar to the image below.

Promotion 15. Now select “Layer 2 copy”(Chromosphere 2) and make it visible again. Change the layer's blending mode to Vivid Light(Brilliant light). This step is necessary to colorize the white lines of the bottom layer.

Gait 16. Use for layer “Layer 2 copy”(Cora 2) keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+T) to resize and rotate the fire image as shown in the figure. The intention of the step is to cover the girl's body and hair with the texture of fire.

Promotion 17. Now apply the blur filter to the layer “Layer 2 copy”(Endoderma 2). To do this, go to the menu station Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur(Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur). Set the blur value to 10 to 15 pixels.

Promotion 18. Now add a layer mask to the layer “Layer 2 copy”(Varnishing 2). Select a soft round brush with Opacity(Opacity) 100 % . Set the brush size to what you need and paint over the layer mask extra elements fire extending beyond the silhouette of the girl. See the development in the picture below.

Gait 19. Now we need to remove the white lines that we got after working with the mask (marked with red rectangles in the picture). To do this, create an unusual layer and place it under the layer “Layer 2 copy”(Raid 2). Next, simply paint over the white areas with a soft round black brush.

Gait 20. Now select the outermost layer (for the author this is “Layer 2 copy 6”(Ionosphere 2 (copies) 6)), add two adjustment layers.
First Hue/Saturation(Hue/Saturation) and other “Brightness/Contrast”(Brightness/Contrast). Set the settings as shown in the figure below.

Gait 21. Now let's create the spark effect. This can be done using a brush with settings as in the picture below. The creator used brushes from standard set, but if you have other brushes that are suitable for this effect, then you can use them.

Promotion 22. Now let's create a new chromosphere (under the adjustment layers), on which we will represent sparks with a brush created in previous step(the author has this "Layer 4"(chromosphere 4)). Choose from a palette of color samples 50% gray(50% gray) and start drawing sparks. To prevent the sparks from being monotonous, change the brush format if necessary. The writer first used a larger brush size, and then reduced the brush scale (use the keys “[” And “]” For quick change brush size).

Gait 23. To make our creation even more impressive, create a new layer and change the layer's blending mode to Screen(Lightening). Select a soft round brush (not the one we changed earlier), with Opacity 50%(Opacity). And outline the parts of the body, neck, and hair as shown in the picture.
