Review of the file recovery program RS File Recovery

After downloading and installing, as well as activating the program, you need to launch the icon from the desktop.

A window will open, divided into several parts. At the very top are the main functions of the program:

  1. Wizard is a function that allows you to recover deleted files.
  2. Restore is the same as the first function.
  3. Save disk – the ability to create a disk image if you need to save all data in case of failure.
  4. Mount disk – mount the saved disk image, after which it will appear in the “This PC” directory.

The window itself is divided into several parts. The hierarchy of disks and other directories is shown on the left Windows systems. You can switch between folders from this window. The contents of the selected directory or drive will be displayed on the right. By default, all connected media are displayed, and below you can see the “Disk Manager” section, where information about the volume, file system and partition status is indicated. On the right are windows with preview and a list of recovery files.

In general, the interface is designed for Windows Explorer, so any user can figure it out. You can change the language in the settings. If the default language is not Russian, then click on the “View” tab, then “Language” and select the desired language.

By the way, if you select a disk and click on the “File” menu, you will find there an option with which you can edit the partition.

How to recover files using RS File Recovery “Wizard”

Now let's try to analyze one of the available partitions and find files that can be recovered.

  • Click on the “Master” button.
  • A window appears where we click “Next”.

  • Select the disk where we will find deleted files. Click “Next”.

  • Choose one of two options - Normal scan or Deep Analysis. For starters, you can try the first type.

  • You can leave the default settings here if you want to search for all files.

  • Check the “Only deleted files” checkbox. If you need more subtle parameters, then all the settings are already given, use it.

  • An analysis will occur that will be completed in less than a minute. A list will appear in the window deleted files. Some names may be distorted, but there are also those where they are clear.
  • Select the checkboxes for the files that need to be restored and click on the “Next” button.

  • We choose where to save the files, I always save to my hard drive.

  • Specify the path and click the “Restore” button.

Deep analysis in RS File Recovery

This type of analysis is not much different from normal, it’s just possible to find more deleted files. Go to any drive and you will see items with a $ icon. The very first one will be $ Deep analysis. Click on it twice.

A window will open where the user selects the type of files to be found. The default is “All files”. The scanning process will begin and a list of files that can be recovered will appear in the window.

Approximately the same thing is done through the “Wizard”, only the analysis process will take longer, and the larger the section, the more time it will take.

conclusions

This program is very easy to use. In just a couple of clicks you can recover deleted files. RS File Recovery helped me recover important documents that were lost in some unknown way, which means I will continue to use the tools in the future.

Of course, there are many other programs that will do the job just as well, and I will write about them.

There is one point that I would like to clarify. There are several programs for data recovery from this company and they are all paid - RS Excel Recovery, RS FAT Recovery, RS File Recovery (which is described here), RS File Repair, RS NTFS Recovery, RS Office Recovery, RS Partition Recovery, R.S. Photo Recovery, RS Word Recovery. And you know what's most interesting? All of these programs are designed to recover a certain type of file, such as Word documents or photos, but the point is that RS File Recovery also recovers all these files, so why would I buy the same RS Photo Recovery if I can use a tool that allows restore everything.

In this article we will do comparative analysis data recovery programs: Active File Recovery, Hetman Partition Recovery and Pandora Recovery.

Nowadays there is great amount various storage media, each of which is capable of storing fairly large volumes of data. However, not a single “storage” of data, be it a stationary device, such as HDD, or an ordinary flash drive, are not insured against the loss of stored information, which is sometimes very important and exists in a single copy.

Of course, in this case, most users are horrified that their precious files Some virus “gobbled up”, the flash drive was “accidentally” formatted, or even worse, the hard drive crashed.

However, the developers computer software There are a lot of different programs designed for data recovery, among which there are quite decent examples. But there are also not too many functional programs for such a task.

In this review, I decided to review and compare three of these programs, which are among the most popular. These are Active File Recovery, Hetman Partition Recovery and Pandora Recovery.

Fortunately, nothing has happened to the flash drive so far, but for the sake of this case, I decided to “put it away,” so I threw several files there, formatted it, and now I’ll try all three utilities in action to check their effectiveness.

The first program is quite popular. So let's start with that.

Launching the utility displays three working fields, which contain information about drives operating in this moment on PC:

Also provided detailed description features of each drive, so if you select our flash drive, on the right side you can see its main characteristics:

For me the negative point is English interface, which causes me, a person who does not fully speak the language, certain inconveniences. However, I have experience working with programs, so I will act according to logic.

IN top panel In the toolbar there are two buttons that “cause” a quick or full scan.

Since we need to check maximum efficiency program work, let's choose deep scan and let's see what comes of it:

A pop-up message prompts you to select the types of files to search for, so we will check the boxes in the required places and press the scan button:

The scanning process looks like this (I'm not entirely clear what's going on yet, but let's wait):

The scan is completed and the final result looks like this:

The Active File Recovery program found something, and after taking a closer look at the information in the work fields, I was able to find, as I understand it, exactly those files that can be recovered:

As I understand it, you need to select them and click the “Restore” button, which is located in the toolbar. Then, of course, the program “asks” you to select a folder to save. I created one in advance on drive D. Therefore, we immediately select it and press the Recover button. The recovery process begins:

Wherein desired folder opens automatically and you can immediately check for files.

The result of the work Active programs File Recovery: all files are in place, they just differ in name, but this is not a problem, since they can always be renamed.

Hetman Partition Recovery – data recovery software

This utility is considered one of the most effective in data recovery, because it works with all modern types file systems on Windows based and is capable of recovering data from “mobile” storage media, as well as from hard drives PC.

In addition, Hetman Partition Recovery has Russian-language interface, which is very pleasing!

The installation program requires license key and is paid, which should be a sign of effective and quality work. However, let's put it into operation and check it out.

So, when you launch Hetman Partition Recovery, an “assistant” window appears in the background of the main window, which gives advice on the recovery process. You can disable it by unchecking the corresponding box, but I won’t do this since I’m using it for the first time:

The next step prompts you to select the media to be recovered. All drives and removable media, which are currently running on PC. I select the desired flash drive:

By the way, if the user is so inexperienced that he doesn’t know what to do, there is a “Help” button that opens detailed instructions.

However, let's not be distracted from the main point. The desired media is selected and next step is to select the scan type. The program offers fast and deep scanning. Based on my experience working on a PC, I select “Full Analysis”, which, as stated, finds all the information and restores the file system:

I click “Next” and the program starts searching for information, so you need to wait a little:

The process is completed, and I click “Done”:

As a result, the program displayed 2 folders in the work field, which I still don’t quite understand what to do with:

Having examined these folders, in the “$Deep Analysis” folder I found (as I understand it) all the recovered files:

Then you need to select them and copy them to right side, where the “Recovery List” work field is located:

Then I click “Restore” and receive a message asking me to choose a method for saving files. I select the hard drive and “Next”:

The next message will be to select a save location. This will be a familiar folder on drive D. Then you can watch the process of saving files to disk:

This process ends with this message:

Now you can view the status and presence of recovered files in the folder. Here the information is grouped according to file type and there is data that was contained on the flash drive not only during the comparison of programs, but also in an earlier period:

So, the Hetman Partition Recovery utility also shows quite good results and saves a large number of information. This allows us to recommend it for active use.

Pandora Recovery for data recovery

As stated by the developers, the Pandora Recovery utility is designed for installation on any PC on 32-bit Windows. It is listed as free, but, unfortunately, has an English interface.

A special feature of the program is the fact that it is impossible to recover long-deleted files with its help. However, it has pretty good reviews, so I decided to check it out too.

So, I installed the program and the first thing I see when starting is the welcome window on English language, where a simple user will understand absolutely nothing. I go further and receive the following message with the advice “Before you run the scan, check the trash.”

Since I formatted the flash drive, it means there is no need to look for anything in the trash, and therefore I also skip this step.

Then you need to select the disk to be scanned. In my case it is a flash drive:

I press “Next” and again difficulties arise for those users who do not know English or do not have sufficient experience with a PC. I need to restore a flash drive, and therefore I choose the last item, since it is most suitable for my main goal:

The next stage requires starting a scan, but this button cannot be discovered immediately, but only after a detailed examination of the program’s working field:

So, let's start the process and watch its progress:

The scanning process has completed and a certain number of files are displayed in the working field. They need to be selected, after which the top panel will display active button « Recovery" I select the files, press the button and the program usually asks you to specify the saving path, after which the saving process is displayed:

Saving the data is complete and you can view the results in the corresponding folder:

There is much more files, which I sent to the flash drive before formatting, and therefore we can conclude that the program also recovered older data.

So, based on the results of the work of the three utilities, we can conclude that they all have enough effective principle work and can quickly recover important documents or other files.

The program has a special advantage, since it is in Russian!

By the way, this program can be downloaded for free on the official website to check its effectiveness.

And the following video can help you clearly see additional benefits and the principle of operation of the program:

I hope that this review will also help you, if necessary, to recover data from hard drive or other media (for example, from a flash drive) after formatting.

Recover My Files - a powerful recovery tool lost information. Can find deleted files from hard drives, flash drives, SD cards. Information can be recovered from working and damaged devices. Even if the media has been formatted, this is not a problem for Recover My Files. Let's see how the tool works.

Setting up the search for lost objects

After downloading and installing the program, when you first launch it, you see a window with a choice of the source of the lost information.

"Recover Files"— searches for information from work disks, flash drives, etc.

"Recover a Drive"— needed to recover files from damaged partitions. For example, in case of formatting, Windows reinstallation. If information was lost due to a virus attack, you can also try to recover it using "Recover a Drive".

I will choose the first option. Click "Next".

In the window that opens, we need to select the section in which we will search for files. IN in this case this is a flash drive. Let's select a disk "E" and click "Next".

Now we are offered two options for searching files. If we choose “Automatic mode (Search for deleted files)”, then the search will be performed on all data types. This is convenient when the user is not sure what to find. After selection this mode, press "Start" and the search will start automatically.

“Manual mode (Search for deleted files, thean search for selected “Lost File” types)”, provides a search based on selected parameters. Celebrating this option, click "Next".

Unlike automatic mode, appears additional window settings. For example, let's set up an image search. Open a section in the tree "Graphics", in the list that opens you can select the format of the deleted pictures; if no choice is made, then all will be marked.

Please note that in parallel with "Graphics", are noted additional sections. This selection can be removed double click on the green square. Then click "Start".

On the right side we can choose the speed of searching for lost objects. By default, it is the highest. The lower the speed, the less likely errors will occur. The program will check the selected partition more thoroughly. Then click "Start".

Filtering found objects

I want to say right away that the verification takes a considerable amount of time. I checked the 32 GB flash drive for 2 hours. When the scanning is completed, a corresponding message will be displayed on the screen. On the left side of the window we can see the explorer in which all found objects are located.

If we need to find files deleted on a certain day, we can filter them by date. To do this we need to go to an additional tab "Date" and select the one you need.

To make a selection of images by format, then we need to go to the tab « File Type» , and there select the one you are interested in.

In addition, you can see from which folder the objects we were looking for were deleted. This information is available in the section "Folders".

And if you need all the remote and lost files, then we need the "Deleted" tab.

Recovering found files

We seem to have figured out the settings, now let's try to restore them. To do this, we need to select the necessary files on the right side of the window. Then on the top panel we find "Save As" and select a location to save. Under no circumstances should found objects be restored to the same disk from which they were lost, otherwise this will lead to them being overwritten and the data will no longer be possible to return.

The recovery function, unfortunately, is only available in paid version. I downloaded the trial one and when I tried to restore the file, a window appeared asking me to activate the program.

Having examined the program, I can say that it is multifunctional tool for data recovery. It's frustrating to not be able to use its main function in trial period. And the speed of searching for objects is quite low.

Active@ File Recovery is one of the best data recovery programs with support for most popular file systems (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, NTFS5, NTFS + EFS). Works with hard drives: IDE, ATA, SCSI, flash drives, memory cards and floppy disks, as well as RAID arrays, which is especially important for system administrators. But also to a simple user Recovering deleted or damaged files is not difficult.

The program is able to recognize 28 file types based on their signatures. These could be documents, photographs or images, music, videos, archives, etc. For professional and amateur photographers, it is possible to search for RAW photographs used by the manufacturer of their camera (Leica, Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc.), which will narrow the search and reduce the recovery time of images.

Two recovery options: QuickScan (fast) and SuperScan (slow), as well as a search filter, including part of the file name, will help reduce the search and recovery time necessary files. In any case, the program's algorithms allow you to quickly recover data even from large HDDs, which is often unattainable for competing utilities.

The program interface will be understandable even to an inexperienced user, but even experienced users who are faced with data recovery for the first time may have questions and difficulties. We have written instructions for using Active File Recovery, which will help you go through the recovery process from launching the application to the joy of returning your lost data.

Instructions for using Active@ File Recovery

For clear examples we took four files: video (mp4), audio (mp3), Word document(doc) and picture (jpg). Throw these files onto the card MicroSD memory and formatted it. Now let's try to restore these files after formatting and make sure the program works.

Image No. 1: Files for recovery

Image No. 2: Formatting the memory card

Having unpacked the archive with the program, run the file “ FileRecovery.exe" The start window for Windows OS has opened (See from No. 4), where we see all the connected data storage devices, among which there is a memory card formatted by us (ChipBnk Flash Disk). Select it and click “SuperSkan” for a more accurate slow scan of the memory card.

Image #3: Launching Active@ File Recover

Image No. 4: Selecting a device to scan

A small window with scanning settings will open. You can search there deleted partitions, if there were any, and below select the types of files that the program will search for by signatures. If you need to find and restore everything that was on the drive before formatting or deleting, then simply leave “All(Slow)”, but remember that then scanning will take much longer.

Image #5: Scan Settings

If you know exactly what types of files you need to recover, then select “Some” and click “Select...”. By checking the boxes only next to those file extensions that interest us, we will reduce the search time. In our case, I indicated four types of files (See from No. 6).

Image #6: Selecting file types

Now click “OK” and “Start”. The scanning process has started and we can see the progress visually in the lower left corner as a percentage.

Image #7: Scanning process

After scanning is completed, the “SuperScan” folder with the date and time will appear on the left side of the program under all devices. We open it and on the right we see the file types found by the program. Select them and click the icon at the top that says “Recover”. To restore our files, we will be asked to indicate the location where they will be saved. After selecting the save location, click “Recover”, which will start the recovery process.

Image #8: Data recovery

After data recovery is complete, go to the folder that you specified, where our files are saved, each in its own section. We check the functionality and rejoice! The only negative is that the program was unable to restore file names after formatting, but this does not always happen.
