For many designers (myself included), Photoshop is usually the first choice for this category of work. Because Photoshop is graphics editor, which creates raster images based on pixels (which have the same resolution as monitor screens), which is ideal for designing a website design, for example, that is displayed on a monitor.

However, when designing user interfaces Illustrator can provide many benefits that Photoshop cannot.

For example, with using Illustrator web design work can be done much faster by changing the size from larger to smaller and vice versa. Illustrator is also great for creating components that are reused and resized frequently.

Illustrator is always part of my UI design work, but most of the work is still done in Photoshop.

Copy and paste

This is one of the most interesting ways importing vector images into Photoshop. If you open vector file In a program like Illustrator, select what you want to import, then click copy and paste into the Photoshop document.

The Shape Layer option imports the path to the object as a Vector Mask. This import method does not give a color to the drawing, it fills the shape with the color selected in your plan. With the Path option, the object will take its natural size without a bounding box.

My favorite option (forgive me for saving last....) is "Smart Object". When you paste a selection into your document, the color will bleed through and you'll get a bounding box to scale as needed.

Return and the object is placed. You now have a layer called “Vector Smart Image”. If you want to change something about an object you've placed, unfortunately you won't be able to change it in Photoshop because when you place it like a smart object, you won't get a path. But here's where it gets surprising: if you double-click on the smart objects icon...

Click OK and your object will open in Illustrator, ready to edit.
