VimpelCom calls the project an “ethnosystem” based on an MVNO (virtual operator operating on Beeline networks) for visitors from the CIS, China, Vietnam and India. The company does not exclude that visitors from Africa, Europe and America will also be clients. Sim Sim provides subscribers not only with communication services, but also helps them “adapt” to a new place - for example, it tells them where it’s easier to get a loan, how to find housing or work, Romanenko said.

The operator has existed since 2014; previously VimpelCom provided it with its infrastructure under an agency scheme. Now he received 50.2% in the company, the company’s press service clarified. The remaining shares remained with Romanenko and his partners.

The parties do not disclose the amount of investment. The deal to acquire a stake by VimpelCom was “almost cash-free,” but the company has the right to buy out the remaining stake in the operator, Slobodin said.
