Computer resource U SM. AnVir Task Manager what is this program and is it needed?

Expanding the functions of the standard Task Manager to optimize computer performance is the main purpose free program and I’ll tell you how to set it up in a short review.

Possibilities AnVir Task Manager are impressive. Internet connection, control over open files, temperature and load hard drives, network traffic, fight against viruses.

Features of AnVir Task Manager

Data transfer speed, virus detection and removal, RAM, laptop battery - all these indicators and many others are available for viewing and configuration in the AnVir TM program window. This program is an advanced replacement for the built-in Windows Manager tasks. To do this, you need to tick the required checkbox.

Download the program from the official website at www.anvir.net. The link is inactive, but it is easy to navigate to the site. Highlight an address, click right click mouse and select “Go to website...”.

The program is easy, weighs only 4.16 MB. We accept the terms of the agreement and select the installation folder. Uncheck the boxes so as not to install unnecessary software.

Uncheck the boxes before installation

After installation, the Program Setup Wizard opens, prompting you to select useful features. The first step suggests installing additional buttons, adding necessary programs and a list of the latest open folders in the “Save As” and “Close” dialogs.

Program Settings Wizard

Installation file

The program runs with administrator rights without additional dialogs. We'll delete it right away installation file so as not to take up disk space.

Basic program settings

Open the “View” tab. Check the box for “Status bar”, “Toolbar” and others. The marked columns are added to the program window. I checked the boxes like this.

Program window with settings

When you click the "Columns" button, the additional features main window settings. To see the date the program was added to startup and the security level, check “Risk level” and “Added to startup.”

The “Risk Level” column is colored in different colors. Green – the program is safe, pink – it may be a virus, but not necessarily. If the line is highlighted in bold black font, then the program was added to auto launch recently. True, this checkbox is not ticked in the picture.

Click on any line with the program.

Files in startup

When you select “Detailed information”, a window with information about the file opens. When you hover your mouse over a file, all its data opens in a pop-up window. What program is it, authorship, file location. Just below is the delayed loading editing tab. Lazy loading allows the program to start not when the computer starts, but a little later.

You set the time yourself. To prohibit auto start for any program, uncheck the check box. To return this function to it, check the box again. To remove a program from autorun, you need to highlight the line.

Removing a program from autostart

To prevent a program from unauthorized entry into auto start, add it to quarantine.

Please note that the program simply will not start when the computer starts. But it will remain on the computer. To launch it, you need to find “Program Shortcut” and click on it.

Here you can also check the program with an antivirus. Click on the line, then “Check on the site.”

Let's consider next tab. “Tools” – “Settings” – “Properties”.

Tools-Settings-Properties

Make sure the four check boxes are ticked.

Preventing programs from starting automatically

Now not a single application will be registered in auto launch without asking. If you don’t know whether this program is needed or not, add it to “Quarantine” for a while.

Additional settings

The next tab is “Icons and tray menus”.

Setting up the program

By default, the program installs 4 icons. You can select one component that shows several parameters: processor or disk temperature, used memory, and others. I don't leave AnVir Task Manager running in background, so as not to load RAM.

In the “Process priority” item we set the priority of the files.

Setting the program priority

For example, set the priority of the video player as “high”, and the video conversion program as “low”.

"Settings" - " Windows extensions" Here we tick the check boxes at our discretion.

If you check the box "Replace dispatcher Windows tasks", then you can configure your computer from this program. To check a file located on your computer’s hard drive for viruses, do this: “Tools” – “Scan the file with antiviruses.” Explorer will open. Choose required file With hard drive. The result will open in a browser window.

Look at the "Help" tab. There are given useful tips and a link to a specialized forum. Users ask the author how the program works, there is something useful there.

So we got acquainted with AnVir Task Manager How to use and about others necessary functions described in video instructions on the official website. Explore the capabilities of the program and it will help you.

In order not to occupy the computer's RAM, I did not enable AnVir in the background. I run the file when I need to check some data. IN constant mode the program is not included.

Being in the tray, AnVir still slows down the operation of devices. Other users noticed this too. There are posts on the forum about the problem. After checking the data, I disable the software.

It is useless to simply remove programs from the startup folder. When you turn on the computer, they start again on their own. You need to disable it either in the Task Manager or delete it executable file. More information about manually deleting applications can be found here.

Many Windows OS users often encounter problems with its operation ( unknown errors, sudden stoppage of work, etc.), as well as with “slowness” of the system. Usually the cause of this is viruses, or various processes that take up space for no apparent reason. free place V random access memory and loading the processor. Decide this problem is only possible by disabling these tasks via “ Task Manager" However, it is necessary to know which processes can be safely terminated, because if disabled system program, this will lead to its failure. For inexperienced users PC should consider using the program AnVir Task Manager, which indicates which processes are running in vain, and also contains several utilities that allow you to optimize the operation of the OS.

Disable autoloading of unnecessary processes.

Disabling the launch of some programs when Windows startup will speed up system loading and reduce the likelihood of failures.” utilities AnVir Task Manager you can see the name of the process, its location, state (on/off) and risk level - the higher, the more task consumes resources for its work. Hence the load on the conductor and other system programs.

The program distributes processes into categories: services, program plugins, registry and scheduler. Processes that are not included in these sections are sorted into the “” category, where they are distributed into subcategories with their corresponding purpose: drivers, network utilities, audio and video codecs, explorer menu, etc.
By disabling 27 tasks running during OS startup, the risk level of which is higher than 25%, the startup speed accelerated by only 3 seconds. (44 pp. - 41 pp.). But the completion of work became approximately 2 times faster: 18 seconds. It is possible that some processes automatically started running 5 minutes after Windows loaded.
There is no checkbox on tasks disabled by the user, and the process status is: “ Disabled" They can also be found in the “ tab Quarantine”.

Application and process management.

This section is practically no different from standard dispatcher Windows tasks, except that there are a couple of features that allow the user to make some changes in the system interface.

You can see a list of available actions with an application by right-clicking on it.
Minimizing the program to the tray (once or always), while it will disappear from the taskbar until the window is active.

Activation— switch to the window of the selected application. The same can be done by double clicking on it.
Function “ Window management” allows you to perform actions with the program: minimize, maximize it, make it on top of all windows and adjust the transparency of the application.

Also, by clicking on specific program, it is possible to look in the “tab” DLL”, which she uses while working.
Chapter " Processes” allows the user to view information about it, leave a note (comment), change the priority and manage it. It is practically no different from a similar tab in the Windows task manager, except that there are icons thanks to which the user can quickly find the process he needs.

Launching programs before user authorization in the system.

AnVir Task Manager also provides the ability to autorun any application after logging into Windows (in the process, “ Add to startup”).
Running programs in certain time, set by the administrator.

To view lazy loading options in the “” section, right-click on desired application and select the appropriate option.
The default option is offered: start of the program selected by the user a minute after authorization in the system.
The second proposal is that the user selects on what days and after what period of time after logging into Windows the application will automatically launch. For example, on weekdays it is convenient for a freelance programmer to launch the developer’s software an hour after the system starts, and during this time he will have time to drink tea.

Productivity increase.

You can limit the CPU load on a specific process, or on all processes at once, if the percentage of CPU load exceeds user installed minimum. You can configure these indicators in the “ Performance”, located at “ Tools - Settings”.

For example, if we lower the overall CPU load to 50% (minimum), then the program will automatically reduce the priority of all processes, evenly distributing the percentage of load to each.
RAM optimization will allow you to reduce the memory of applications exceeding the user-set limit due to idle processes. The specific algorithm performed by the program is not even on the developer’s website. It only says that it reserves a certain place in RAM.

It's easier to check this on a video game that requires about 4 GB of RAM to run. Let's set the limit to 1 GB, after a few minutes the process takes up less memory, and total percentage decreased by only a few units. However, it is not possible to determine what actions the program performed.

Hello everyone Today I will tell you about one very unusual program, it is called AnVir Task Manager. This program is super awesome, because it has a lot of things, well, there is a task manager, viewing running processes, monitoring startup, services and other things. In general, you already understand what type of program this program belongs to, it’s a kind of mini-optimizer that is designed to help the user

But do you know what's funny? It seems that this program smells like viruses, I haven’t checked it personally, but the fact that some users wrote about it on the Internet is already strange... Well, like some... It’s enough for me to notice it.. So let’s think together. Or rather, what is there to think? I installed this program on my Windows and first I’ll see what kind of beast it is, and then I’ll check the computer antivirus utilities to understand whether it is a viral program or not.

AnVir Task Manager - debriefing

So, I run it, this is what it looks like:

Well, what can I say here, it looks interesting, let's see what's what here. By the way, when I launched AnVir Task Manager, the Processes tab was opened. And here is the Startup tab, here I selected User Startup (on the left):

Where there is a list of everything that is loaded when Windows is turned on, it more or less says what is safe and what is not. Just look, there’s a joke here that I didn’t really like, which means MailRuUpdater is more dangerous than MAgent. Well, the funny thing is that the first is the second, because all this is software from Mail.Ru, that is, for some reason one program has a risk level of zero, and the other is 30%. Well, see for yourself what I mean:

It seems to me that this danger, well, this level of risk is based on the opinion of users. If this is actually true, then there are no questions, because MailRuUpdater is really an unnecessary thing. But it is not dangerous.

If you click on some item, well, I mean here in startup, then below you will see a bunch of information on the selected item. Well, for example, I chose a line with the same MAgent, look what is shown below for this program, well, just a bunch of necessary information:

Well, it doesn’t look good here, I agree, but believe me, there’s a lot of information there. Well, for example, the first tab Properties, here there is something like Startup and Services Database. Look how interesting it is written here where the MAgent program is located in the registry:

And where the process properties are, then this is written there:

I showed you all this about that highlighted MAgent line in startup! In general, everything is great, I like it. It’s true that it’s a little suspicious that such a program is free.. As you understand, there’s a lot you can learn about your computer and I think that with the help of AnVir Task Manager you can easily understand what’s going on on your computer

There is also a Services item, as I understand it, there is a list of services that start with Windows. But I have little value there.

But if you select the Scheduler item:

So yes, there are a lot of different tasks that run automatically with Windows:

In general, you can check startup well and see what is launched from where, there is more than enough information.

On the Processes tab you can observe all running processes in Windows:

At the same time, there is a checkmark at the top even regarding display hidden processes! But I don’t know if this function works, because I couldn’t test it. If you select a process, detailed information about the selected process will also be displayed below:

The Applications tab displays the currently running programs, and below you can also find detailed information.

On the Services tab, the same song, that is, the display of services, at the very top you can select using checkboxes what exactly will be displayed. That is, you can disable the display of Windows services and then only third-party services will remain, well, that is, this is where the wrong services can be. Again, this is good - because you can quickly understand whether you have suspicious services and, if anything, identify a wrong program that may need to be removed.

In general, on all tabs, well, except for Applications and Log, then on all tabs there is at the top (immediately after the tabs) something like Filter by name. There you can disable everything Windows, so that what is left is something that definitely does not belong to Windows.

To open the AnVir Task Manager settings, you need to click Tools at the top and select this item from the menu:

And here are the settings themselves:

So what can I say here? There are enough settings, I think anyone can figure them out. I won’t talk about everyone, but it would just take a long time and I don’t think everything is that complicated. That's what I liked? There is something here called Process Priority, this item:

I already like the fact that such a setting is here. So what is it and how to use it. Look, in this setting there is an Add button:

So when you click it, the following window will appear:

So, here you can specify the process and choose what priority it will work under. What is this anyway and why? This means that with the help of this program, you can make your computer run a little faster. Here you can specify which processes, for example, will run with a priority of Above Average. This priority is when one program is allocated more processor time than others, well, provided that the priority is higher than average. If less, then the same, but on the contrary. Well, I think it's clear

Just be careful with priorities, otherwise you know, it’s not so simple, because Windows gives everyone (well, almost everyone) the Medium priority. Just watch. If a program to which you, for example, gave real-time priority, in general, if this program loads the processor, then it may all depend. Do you know why? Because processor resources will be allocated to this program as much as possible. But if a program loads the processor and at the same time its priority is even higher than average, then it will load the processor even more. As a result, the rest of the programs, including Explorer, that is, all the windows, the Start menu, all of this can simply freeze. So be careful with these priorities!

Also, there is also the option Run as a service, well, I mean in these settings. Here you can specify a program that will actually work as a service. I’ll tell you that this option is so necessary, but personally I wouldn’t need it.

There is also a Blocked processes item, also interesting, here you can specify those processes that will be cut down as soon as they try to start. In short, it’s an interesting option and can help you get rid of left-field and unnecessary processes

On the Icons and Tray Menu tab, you can configure which icons will be displayed in the tray, these are just icons, well, informative. There you can even configure it so that the loading of each disk is shown.

In general, what can I say - there are enough settings, many interesting and necessary ones, I think it won’t be difficult to understand them

By the way, the program runs under such processes as anvirlauncher.exe, anvir64.exe, AnVir.exe:

Processes are launched from this folder (well, that is, from where the program is installed):

C:\Program Files (x86)\AnVir Task Manager

You also see that there is such a thing as VirusTotalUpload.exe, as I understand it, this is a file verification module for VirusTotal. This is a site for checking a file whether you have a virus or not. Apparently there is such a function in the program somewhere, but I didn’t find it.

How to completely remove AnVir Task Manager from your computer?

If AnVir Task Manager did not please you in some way, then I understand your desire to remove it. Personally, I like AnVir Task Manager so-so, but I can’t say that I’m just super delighted with it. Yes, there is a lot of useful stuff here. But it was done somehow mediocre. Much of what is here is also in other programs, and much of this can be learned without programs at all, it’s just that AnVir Task Manager has everything conveniently displayed. Well, I’m talking about the information there about processes, about services, about autoloading..

In general, I can’t say that the program is no good, but I personally wouldn’t use it, I like CCleaner more. But that's my opinion! AnVir Task Manager actually has many useful jokes, so think about it before deleting, maybe it’s not worth it, maybe this program will still be useful to you?

In general, okay, see how you can remove it. This can be done either simply or using a deleter. This remover will both remove the program itself and clean Windows of its remnants. In general, it’s really convenient and not complicated, I recommend it, but it’s up to you to decide whether to use it or not, it’s my job to suggest..

Well, now how to delete it, so to speak in a simple way. Open the Start menu and select Control Panel there:

If you have Windows 10, then I congratulate you, but there is a Control Panel item in another menu, you can call it by holding down the Win + X buttons!

Then find the Programs and Features icon there and run it:

A list will open installed software, here we find AnVir Task Manager and right-click and then select Delete there:

Then in the next window click Delete:

Then the deletion will begin, during which a browser with the AnVir website will be opened, they will offer to download their other programs... Well, that is, from this office...

That’s it, the deletion will end, there will be no windows, the program will be deleted quietly and without mistakes

How to remove garbage in the registry that was left behind by AnVir Task Manager?

So I thought that was it, the program was deleted and that’s it, but it turns out that there was garbage left in the registry, it would also be good to remove it...

In general, you don’t have to delete this garbage, well, that is, it’s not necessary, I’m just used to keeping my system strictly clean. And I don’t delete programs that often, so it’s not difficult to clean the registry...

Now how to do it all. You need to launch the registry, here's how to do it, hold down the Win + R buttons and write the regedit command there:

Then the registry editor will open, you don’t delete anything here, here you need to find traces from AnVir Task Manager that were not deleted. It's not that difficult, look, click here Ctrl buttons+ F and write a word like anvir there and click Find Next:

This is to find all records whose names contain the word anvir, that is, everything that remains after this program.

Now look, both folders and keys will be found here. Everything that is found can be deleted. But you only need to delete what is highlighted during the search. When I clicked Find Next, I found the AnVir folder, so you can delete it:

Removed - great. Then you press F3 to continue searching. And when something is found and selected again, you delete it too. Keys are deleted in the same way:

By the way, you see, this key doesn’t seem to have AnVir in its name, but when I double-clicked on the key, I saw this:

That is, the word anvir is not in the name, but it is in the Value field, so everything is fine, searching in the registry editor cannot be wrong

And just like that, search the registry and delete traces until there is a message that the search is over.

Well, that seems to be all, but just think about it... Where is the test for whether the AnVir Task Manager virus is or not? Yes, I agree, I didn’t write about it... But all because the article would have turned out to be very long! But I wrote about it in, so take a look

That's all, good luck to you and all the best in life

Any computer has a tendency to become cluttered over time. More and more more programs They consider it their duty to add an icon to the tray, register in startup, or otherwise “inherit” the system. And these are completely legitimate applications! What can we say about all kinds of viruses, Trojans and other evil spirits that live in abundance on the Internet.

“Everything is slowing me down”

The other day, visiting a friend of mine, as a computer expert, I volunteered to look into the reasons for the computer’s “slowdown.” A quick inspection revealed a frightening picture - productive computer not the most old model I worked with almost physically felt reluctance. Literally everything slowed down. Pop-up windows of programs running in the background, some incomprehensible error messages, processes of unknown purpose - the scale of the disaster was almost biblical. It seemed that the computer spent all its quad-core power on carefully simulating hectic activity, neglecting productive activity. The owner of the computer could not explain anything sensible. She launched something, installed something, agreed to everything. Firewall? What firewall? Antivirus? Of course have! It seems...

Let's start cleaning

The browser, which loaded only a minute after it was launched, turned out to be hung from head to toe with toolbars, additional buttons, various search lines and other tinsel that covered almost half of the usable area!

The first thing I did was open the website of the free program AnVir Task Manager. The program’s website promises to significantly speed up your computer and generally take total control of everything that happens on it.

AnVir Task Manager offers much more than what is promised on the program's website. Here you have both startup control and monitoring running applications and services.

Let's start by speeding up your computer's boot time. The “Startup” tab displays a list of all elements that are automatically loaded when the system starts. For each program, AnVir Task Manager displays detailed information about the name of the program, how it is launched, the level of risk and other data.

Double-clicking on any program in the list brings up a detailed information panel with a lot of important information, such as the internal version of the program used by it dynamic libraries(DLL), performance, windows opened by this program and much more.

The same tab contains automatically downloaded services, as well as Internet Explorer extensions and plugins.

Having quickly cleared out all the junk from Startup using AnVir, I decided to study this section in more detail - surely the computer’s boot speed can be somehow increased. The lazy loading function implemented in the program allows you to optimize the loading process in a somewhat unexpected way - by delaying the launch of certain programs. Indeed, when six or seven programs at once are trying to divide the machine’s resources among themselves, and the operating system itself has not yet fully loaded, what kind of startup speed can we talk about?

The function works very simply. Select the application in the Startup list whose launch we want to delay, right-click and select “Add to delayed loading”:

Another useful feature: AnVir highlights all recently added startup items in separate branch. With regular use of the program, this allows you to instantly find the “violator” and take action.

Having thoroughly thinned out the list of automatically downloaded applications and cleaned the browser of unnecessary extensions, I moved on to the next tab.

Less is more

The Applications tab displays a list of all currently running applications. AnVir Task Manager considers any program that has a window to be an application. You can perform a number of actions on each program in the list: minimize it to tray, create a floating icon - a sort of always-available shortcut, close the application, and others.

On the “Processes” tab, more detailed information about processes running on a computer. In fact, the bookmark is similar to the standard Windows task manager, but it displays much more information.

First of all, it is worth noting that AnVir calculates the risk level of a particular running process, analyzing many factors, such as the availability digital signature, descriptions, publisher's name and others. Malware As a rule, they cannot boast of such subtleties. The absence of visible windows or tray icons also suggests that the process may be malicious. Thus, sorting processes by risk level allowed me to instantly identify potential candidates for removing my careless friend from the system.

It is very convenient that if any doubts arise regarding the nature of the running process, it can be completed immediately, or its work can be temporarily suspended, so to speak, until the circumstances are clarified.

In this case, the file of the selected process can be sent to the VirusTotal service for verification by all popular antiviruses straightaway. To do this, you just need to click the button on the toolbar.

If a process you don't know frequently accesses the disk or receives/sends data over the Internet, it may be worth quarantining it. AnVir Task Manager provides information about CPU and disk load levels, Internet activity, memory used, etc., although by default these columns can be disabled. In this case, you need to use the “View” menu and show or hide certain columns. In addition, AnVir can display the overall load on the processor, memory, disks, network, as well as the laptop battery level as icons in the system tray. This allows you to assess the overall situation at any time, identify the main culprits - the processes causing the greatest load, and call the main program window to carry out “investigative measures” in its entirety.

After conducting an audit running programs, switch to the “Services” tab.

Very often, the speed of the system can be slightly increased by disabling unnecessary or unused services. AnVir Task Manager provides such an opportunity. By again sorting the list by risk level, we can immediately see the services that cause the most suspicion, and the detailed information panel will tell you what kind of service it is, what its functions are, a list of DLLs and files it uses, and other information to help make the right decision.

My home is my castle

Even when removing programs from Startup, I noticed an interesting feature AnVir Task Manager. It turns out that it is capable of not only removing a particular program from automatic startup, but also preventing it from appearing there again. The feature is called “Startup Protection”, and is available in the “Settings” menu, or when deleting an item from Startup.

It is difficult to overestimate the usefulness of this “feature”: once a malicious object is added to the list, it is forever deprived of the right to operate the computer! In addition, in the same settings section, it is possible to assign forced termination of annoying processes - i.e. quarantine the process.

In the settings we also found some means of speeding up the computer. In the “Performance” section of the settings window, you can set a forced reduction in the priority of running tasks, as well as automatic clearing of process memory.

And in the section " Windows convenience» found additional settings, which the program asked about at startup: you can hide any application in the tray, attach it to the screen on top of other windows, or make the program window transparent. Perhaps it’s worth talking about these functions in more detail.

Pleasant trifles

AnVir Task Manager includes a number of very nice enhancement features Windows operation. The first of them is additional buttons in the window title. When working with several windows at once, you often need to switch between them in order, for example, to transfer some data from one application to another. This is where an additional button comes in handy, attaching the window to the screen with a virtual pin. Now, when switching to another task, the window will remain on the screen on top of all others. You can also add buttons to minimize the window to a tray or minimize it to the size of the header. It is noteworthy that buttons are added to each window.

Besides additional buttons, AnVir also extends system menu, adding several additional commands, such as “Minimize to tray” or “Create a floating icon”. In addition, through this menu you can set execution priority for application windows, set a size from a range of standard ones, or make the window translucent.

Another little thing that pleased me almost more than everything else is the function of expanding standard dialog boxes function of remembering the last opened folders. When you activate this option, no matter in which application you use the dialog to open or save a file, the path you select will be remembered and available for use in the dialog boxes of any other program! Unfortunately, many applications are guilty of “forgetfulness” in relation to the folders they use, and AnVir Task Manager in this case is just a godsend. And this one nice little thing how to auto import favorite folders from Total Commander completely blew me away.

Cleanliness is the key to health

Cleaning the system using AnVir Task Manager was easy and without any hitches, removed unnecessary elements from startup, unused browser plugins and Windows services are disabled. Further maintaining the speed of the system also fell on the shoulders of AnVir Task Manager - the startup control function, monitoring of basic system parameters, improving the operation of Windows with the help of additional buttons and menus ensured easy and safe operation of the computer.
