Black and white pop art

Do with the jar all the actions that we performed with the inscription, just instead of different bright colors use rich black. Color the contents of the jar, depict the texture of the lid, divide the space into two planes and fill them with different patterns.

Whether it's a rough sketch or a completed piece high level, properly structured work process and good technique executions can greatly influence the outcome.

First, we start with a sketch. This is the most an important part of the entire work, because the further construction of the picture depends on him. The important thing is not to add as many details as possible, but to build the correct shapes and composition. Remember to work in layers! This will make your further work, because it’s easier to edit the image, edit layers and apply effects.

It is very important to get the perspective right, so draw a couple of lines to make sure the perspective is correct.

When the main part of the sketch is ready, you can start adding color. Some artists paint in black and white and add color only at the end of the work; you can choose any method you like.

The next stage is light. The natural light source (sun) is located on the right. However, it is necessary to add a little more light to the central part of the picture in order to illuminate the most important thing - the heroine’s face.

When the heroine of the picture is sufficiently drawn, you can proceed to work on background. We continue to work with color constantly, but the colors in the background should not be as dark and saturated as the colors in the foreground - this technique will give more depth to the composition.

I used the mountain brush (of course, you can use any other brush).

Remember, you can always modify your brushes.

Use different modes to achieve more beautiful effects, especially when you use Overlay, Linear Dodge And Linear Light.

On at this stage we can add some new elements, like in this case the person behind the main character.

Sometimes, when you don't have enough time or when you want to achieve a certain effect, you can use textures. I used several textures, a city on the horizon (in the distance).

And, regarding the Earth and distorted textures. The rule is simple: select the layer that needs to be changed. And set the mode Soft light(Soft Light) or Overlay.

I created the texture of the ship myself, and it's very simple.
Create New Layer and using the tool Rectangular Marquee Tool draw simple form square.
Fill this area with the main color of the ship.

Take a soft brush and add some light reflections that come from inside the ship and the small lights along the edges of the door lid.
To remove sharp corners of the texture, use the tool Blur (Smudge Tool) (soft brush) and blur the edges where necessary.

To add the sunset effect I created New Layer in mode Linear light(Linear Light). Linear light is very good tool(like brush and layer mode) because it gives a very realistic effect to the image.

Now we need to add a little fire, hot air coming from the ship's engines. I used a more complex brush (you can use a regular one, but it will be more difficult and take longer).

Ashes and various rock fragments blown by the wind will add more dynamism to the picture.

After creating or opening an image, the block on the left side is activated and the following functions become available:

  • Zoom – scale and its fine tuning;
  • Angle – rotate the sheet by a certain angle, the degree of which can be adjusted here (to reset the scaling and rotation settings of the sheet, click on the white square located on the right in the Zoom or Angle line);
  • Paints Effect – layer effects (if these settings are not expanded, click on “+”):
    • Texture – here we select the canvas texture, adjust the Scale (grain) and in the line on the right – contrast;
    • Effect - in this section set the Width (size) and contrast of the “wet edges” (this effect allows you to darken the picture around the edges);
  • Mode – by clicking on the word Normal in the line on the right, select one of the layer blending modes for art from the drop-down list;
  • Opacity – set the transparency of the picture;
  • Preserve opacity – fix the opacity of the image and draw only inside what has already been drawn, without affecting the background;
  • Clipping Group – when this mode is activated, the bottom layer of the picture acts as a mask for the top one;
  • Selection Source – the selected layer becomes the main one for the next ones.

The colored square in the circle is a palette. By moving the cursor in a circle, we select the desired color, and by moving the cursor in a square, its shade.

  • Selection – tool for selecting a rectangular area;
  • Lasso – a tool that helps to select an arbitrary area;

  • Rotate – a tool for rotating an image;
  • Hand – hand moving the canvas;
  • Color Picker is a pipette that “picks” the desired color from a drawing in order to use the same shade in another place.

To the right of the manipulation tools are two squares, the top of which indicates the color of the brush, the bottom of which indicates the color of the eraser. Clicking on the circular arrows swaps the squares.
