Setting up MMS on iPhone 6 together

Of course, with new generations of iPhone, Apple’s own service, iMessage, has become available to you. It is used to send text and multimedia messages over Wi-Fi or cellular Internet. But its correct operation is not always possible - in places with poor coverage, for example, and many operators charge additional fees for traffic. In addition, not everyone you know has Apple gadgets, and such messages simply do not reach you in the built-in application. In such cases, it is completely impossible to do without the usual SMS or mms mailings.

You can easily distinguish which service you are currently using - just look at the color of the quote cloud - when using standard MMS it is green, when sending via iMessage it is blue. Also at the top, in the center, the application used is additionally indicated. This will allow you to use resources more efficiently, focusing on the final recipient.

Considering that not all subscribers - owners of smartphones of other brands - will be able to receive your messages in iMessage, we will dwell in more detail on the universal MMS mailing service, available for the vast majority of devices.

This is what a mixed correspondence with text and multimedia messages looks like on the iPhone 6 screen. Despite the fact that both types of correspondence are displayed in the same dialog box, setting up each of them has its own characteristics.

MMS activation and settings

First of all, you need to activate the MMS service on your iPhone if you have not previously sent them from this phone or mobile number. To enable it, select the messages tab in the settings menu and scroll to MMS. Slide the slider to the right until it lights up green. Ready!

Also, you must have cellular data transmission activated, since it is through this channel that mms are sent - ok from the iPhone.

So, we have enabled the service itself on the phone, now regarding the settings. In order to start using the service, you will need to enter the settings provided by your mobile operator into your iPhone one-time. For many smartphones, automatic configurations are available from the mobile service provider in the form of service messages. You just need to save them in the device’s memory and reboot it. In the case of the iPhone 6, it is better to enter the settings manually so that there are no crashes or sending errors. Below are the settings for the most common domestic telecom operators.

After setting the settings, be sure to restart your iPhone for the changes to take effect. When the smartphone starts up, try making a test send to any subscriber from your phone book or send a free test message to your operator's number.

Sending failures

Many people are perplexed by unexpected sending errors, even if before this the MMS service was configured properly, and photo messages successfully reached their recipients. Part of the reason for this may be Apple's desire to make its gadgets as convenient as possible. Everyone knows that the company's products are famous for their strong customer support. Programmers have foreseen many points that can provoke errors among users in different countries, and as failures are identified, they quickly issue software upgrades to their brainchild - iOS. But not all users install them right away, and often the cause of failures lies precisely in an outdated firmware version. Every new iOS update is designed to improve the performance of your iPhone, so don't be afraid to update regularly. So make it a rule - before installing important applications, always check the current version of the firmware you are using. And make backups!

  • Sometimes, after firmware updates or iPhone reboots, messages can no longer be sent. And at the same time, it is not even possible to re-register the settings, since the button to enable the MMS service becomes unclickable. Try rebooting your iPhone again, waiting 15-20 seconds before starting again. After this, the necessary button usually appears again, and you can reactivate and configure the service.
  • Consumers using MTS services often have problems sending mms. Although for many, after the release of the next iOS 9 update, the problem was solved at the system level and resolved itself. If this does not happen to you, we recommend setting the following in the settings:

In the APN field: xxx (meaning three X's)

In Username: mts

As password –mts

MMSC: http://mmsc

MMS proxy: 192,168,192,192:8080

Maximum message size: 512000

URL – leave this field blank

After filling out all the fields, send a free test message to number 8890. This will simultaneously activate this service for your number on the network and at the same time allow you to check its functionality.

  • In some situations, MMS cannot be sent due to high-speed LTE (or 4G) being enabled. This happens even when all settings are entered correctly and the corresponding service is activated. It is enough to temporarily switch to 3G, and all messages will be sent to their recipients.

Ask where to find the item you need? Everything is in the same cellular settings - in the voice and data sub-item. Choose 2G or 3G mode instead of LTE and you will be happy.

After sending, you can always return to your usual distribution speeds by switching to the type of communication you are interested in in the same menu.

  • Sometimes removing the nano-SIM card from the iPhone and then re-installing it helps to set up the normal operation of the service.
  • If all attempts are unsuccessful, try resetting all network settings of your iPhone. To do this, in the General - settings tab, find the item - reset, confirm the operation there by selecting the offer to reset the network settings.

This will lead to the erasure of only your network data; all other user information will remain safe and sound. After the reboot, you will have to manually register the settings again (where required).

  • Sometimes messages are stubbornly sent only through Apple iMessage, and the capabilities of the MMS service are simply ignored (we remind you that the color of messages in iMessage is blue, and MMS is green). In such situations, press and hold the sent “blue” message until the system displays a window asking you to redirect this message via MMS with a “green window”. If this does not happen, deactivate the proprietary application by going to the message settings and moving the slider to the non-working position. At the same time, make sure that the toggle switch next to the MMS item is green (i.e., turned on).

We hope you no longer have any difficulties setting up MMS on your sixth iPhone. If the smartphone itself is the reason why multimedia messages are not sent, just reboot it or update the system. In all other cases, you will need to manually configure the service to the requirements of the network used.
