Launcher 3 - what is it and how to fix the error

A launcher is a system bootloader program. They come in different types - some control the launch of the operating system, others change its appearance. We will describe problems that often arise with them in Android and Windows OS. Let's start with Android devices: launcher 3, what is this application and how to restore its normal operation.

Android OS is developing and improving. Smartphones and tablets under its control are used all over the world. It’s a shame when a popular mobile device malfunctions—applications stop launching or the phone number cannot be dialed.

What is a launcher on Android - it is a shell program that allows you to change icons, desktop design, menus, widgets, and add new functions. Launchers are installed on top of the OS, transforming it externally, while all system procedures remain the same. Some manufacturers - for example, ASUS and many Chinese companies - specifically develop a proprietary interface for their devices, distinguishing them from many others.

Now you know what the launcher 3 shell is on Android. Like any program, the launcher sometimes experiences bugs and freezes. We'll tell you how to deal with them.

Clearing cache

If you see a message on the device screen: “An error occurred in the launcher application,” click OK and restart the device. On not the most powerful smartphones, simplify the interface - reduce the number of desktops and icons, disable rarely used widgets.

If the application error persists, data:

  1. In the menu, open Settings - Applications - All.
  2. In the list of programs, find launcher 3 or a similar name.
  3. Open the “Properties” menu of the launcher, click “Stop”.
  4. Select clear data and cache options.
  5. Turn the device off and on completely.
  6. Launch launcher3 again.

Uninstalling programs

What should I do if, after clearing the cache, launcher 3 does not want to work correctly? Remember if you installed any new applications before the problem occurred. They may conflict with the launcher, causing problems with its operation. In this case, try uninstalling the most recently installed programs.

If the errors repeat, remove the launcher itself. To do this, open the “Settings” menu item, go to the list of applications, find the program in it. Select its properties, click “Delete”.

Installing another shell

Sometimes installing a new shell helps cure the problem. There are many launchers available in the Google Play store, the most popular are Nova, GO EX, Buzz, Apex, Solo. They differ in the number of built-in themes and additional functions. Download a verified application and select it as the default bootloader - this will help remove the consequences of the previous one.

Factory reset

If even removing the launcher does not improve the normal operation of the device, try doing a full one. This will delete all data and programs from the internal memory, your smartphone or tablet will become as clean as after purchase - only basic programs (calls, messages, calendar, etc.) will be saved in the system.

First transfer all important information to your computer - phone book, photos and videos. In the “Settings” menu, find the “Backup and reset” item, select “Reset settings”.

On some versions of Android, you need to call the system menu to access the function. Most often, to do this, you need to turn off the device, then press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons. The key combination differs for some manufacturers:

  • Samsung: Power, Home, Volume Up.
  • LG: Power, Home, Volume Down. When the LG icon appears, press Power, hold the remaining 2 keys until Recovery appears.
  • HTC: Hold Volume Down and press Power once.
  • Huawei: Power and both volume control buttons.
  • Sony Ericsson: Power, Volume Down and Camera key.

In the submenu that appears, go to Factory reset.

Device firmware

What should I do if, after all operations, the launcher 3 error continues to appear? The last step is to completely change the firmware. This action is not easy - so look on the Internet for instructions specifically for your model (Root rights will be required) or take your mobile device to a qualified service center.

On Windows

On Windows OS you may also encounter a launcher. If you see a delayed launcher application in your system startup, don’t panic, it’s not a virus. This utility controls the launch of programs when the computer is turned on, setting certain delays for loading. This order allows you to start Windows faster by distributing system resources - first one application is launched in memory, then another.

You can always disable this launcher by unchecking the corresponding box in the startup window. There you will see its location - the path to the exe file. But do not simply delete the exe from the link, this will lead to system errors - use the built-in “Uninstall Programs” function.
