IPhone X(s/r)/8/7/6 does not install the application (does not download) - waiting for downloading

In this article I will talk about the reasons why the iPhone does not install applications (does not want to download) and the inscription does not disappear. The same applies to the iPad. Typically, the following will help resolve the issue.

This article is suitable for all iPhone Xs/Xr/X/8/7/6/5 and Plus models running iOS 12. Older versions may have different or missing menu items and hardware support listed in the article.

Reasons why the application from the App Store does not download and install

There are many reasons why an application from the App Store does not install or download. Most often, the problem lies in the Internet connection, which is unstable, due to which the iPhone cannot download properly. In addition, do not forget about errors with Apple servers and software glitches - all of this can also prevent the software from loading successfully.

What to do to install the application

  • Check your internet connection. To successfully download an application from the App Store, a stable connection is required. Make sure Wi-Fi or 3G/4G is active. This can be done either in the settings or in the control center.

It is important to know that iOS allows you to download programs no larger than 150 MB over a cellular network. If you need to download something more significant, then use Wi-Fi. In addition, it is worth checking how stable and fast the connection is. For the test, you can enable streaming video: if it plays without problems, it means that the application from the App Store can also be easily downloaded.

  • Pause/cancel the download. A simple but at the same time effective way to deal with applications that won’t install is to pause or cancel the download. On iPhones that support 3D Touch technology (models starting with 6S), this can be done by pressing firmly on the download icon. If you have an older smartphone, then hold down on the application icon and click on the cross to stop downloading and just tap to pause.

  • Restart your iPhone. If the app remains dark (or white) during downloading and the download status still does not appear, try restarting your device. You can do this by holding the power button and moving the slider from left to right. An alternative reboot method is the following:
  • Hold the Home and Side keys for iPhone 6S and older.
  • Hold the volume down and side buttons for iPhone 7/7 Plus.
  • Alternately press the Volume Up and then Volume Down keys, then hold the Power button.

Another similar method to solve the problem is to briefly turn on airplane mode.

Increase

  • Disable parallel loading of applications. When downloading several programs at once, problems may arise with their successful installation. It is preferable to download only one application. Owners of slow Internet should pay special attention to this case.
  • Sign out of your Apple ID account. Often there are software errors in iOS that are not related to external conditions (for example, with the Internet connection). Therefore, these shortcomings need to be corrected in a radical way. Try signing out of your Apple ID account. To do this, you need to open the App Store application, open the “Updates” tab and click on your avatar in the upper right corner. Next, click “Exit”. After which you can log into your account again.

  • Reset your network settings. Another solution to the Internet connection problem is to forcefully delete all settings. Passwords and profiles that may have been configured incorrectly will be removed, causing App Store apps to not load. To erase network settings, go to “Settings” - “General” - “Reset”.
  • Synchronizing applications via iTunes. If none of the above methods solved the problem of downloading applications, then try “shake” the iPhone using a computer. To do this, connect your smartphone to your PC and turn on the latest version of iTunes. After that, click on the “Synchronize” button. This procedure will match the data from the iPhone and iTunes, and the problem will likely be resolved.
