How to add a story on instagram. How to add a new video to History from the gallery or how to add multiple videos? How to add highlighted Stories

Stories on Instagram appeared not so long ago - in early August 2016. And during this time they became an integral part of Instagram accounts. For ordinary people, this is a way to show what they are doing at a particular moment, and for people who use this social network to earn money and build an audience, this is a way to make an offer to all subscribers at the same time. And in this regard, the question arises: how to add several stories to Instagram?

Stories generally turned out to be a treasure trove of various interesting goodies. We suggest you read about one more of them: .

Instagram Stories: what is it?

Stories on Insta allow you to avoid being an intrusive user, and also removes the fear and embarrassment of being reproached for taking home photos if your post will only be available for a day and in a separate block. The line at the top of the tape is the “habitat” of the stories.

Tapping on the icon will open a recording (photo or video), which will be displayed for 10 seconds; tapping and holding will allow you to pause the timer.

One of the pros or cons, depending on how you look at it, is that you can always see who opened your story. To do this, you need to open your story and swipe up. So, if you don’t want to be noticed, it’s better not to open them.

How to make multiple stories on Instagram?

Instagram on Android has a clear design, so the question “How to add a story to Instagram” can only be asked by a lazy person. There are at least 2 ways. Firstly, next to the application logo there is a plus icon, clicking on which will open a window similar to the window for adding a new photo to your feed. Secondly, you can simply swipe left anywhere in the news feed. Simply and easily! And the mechanism for adding photos/videos is completely similar here. In the upper right corner there are icons for adding text or drawing. Moreover, when adding a picture, you can choose the color and type of line. By swiping to the side, you can apply various filters to the recording.

Then just tap on the arrow icon and everyone who can will see the added story.

How to post multiple photos on Instagram Stories

As you look through other people's stories, you've probably noticed that some people's stories show multiple posts made in the last 24 hours. And there is no magic in this, you can post a lot of stories on Instagram - no one has yet found any restrictions. To upload multiple photos to History, you can simply add one photo at a time as usual. If you uploaded several pictures or videos during the day, they will all automatically merge into one story. That is, your subscribers will have access to a single story consisting of several photos or videos. And it is not necessary to add entries in a row or all at once; you can update the history at any time. It’s worth noting that when a new post is published, the rim of your icon in the stories section becomes colored again and Instagram users can see the newly posted photo.

So, we have dealt with the question of how to add several photos or videos to history from your phone at once. Now you know how to make one, two or more posts in a story. Publish a story right now, announce yourself to the whole world. And to consolidate the knowledge gained here, let there be at least two of them.

Materials used

The short lifespan allocated to this type of publication requires the use of only relevant materials. In other words, the history may include photos and videos created by the user himself over the past 24 hours. You cannot post a video shot last year or photos from childhood. Music is also not included in the category of permitted materials.

Settings

Now that we know what goes into a story, let's set up our own. The interface of VK mobile applications for Android and iOS differs in many ways, but in this case it is almost identical.

  1. On the news page, in the upper left corner there is a stylized camera icon. It is designed to create this type of plot.

  1. Having launched the program, we see an interface that is in many ways similar to camera control. The icon in the lower left corner provides access to the latest photos and videos. To create a story, you can use them or use the camera in real time. Expanding it using the indicated button, we select shooting ourselves or surrounding objects. A single click will add a photo. While holding down the center button, we record a video, and the ring around it will be filled with color. The average video length will be 15 seconds. You can turn off the sound when recording videos.

  1. The second section regulates the ability to discuss the posted story. You can't attach a poll to it or send it to the community, but the comment settings are quite flexible. You can select a specific group of friends or make the discussion available to all Contact users.

After reviewing the general settings and selecting publishing options, let's move on to the next step.

Creation

Posted materials can be pre-processed before being sent to the network. Let's look at what capabilities the built-in editor has.

  1. We take the first photo with our phone. We have new controls, using which you can give it an emotional coloring or immediately put it on the page.

  1. Let's use the tools located in the left corner of the screen. By adding text, a picture and a sticker, you can create an attractive and memorable image. To publish it, click on the arrow button.

  1. When adding a selfie as the next element of the story, you can use a mask. Some of them transform the user beyond recognition and can cheer up your friends.

  1. A blue circle around the outline of the photo indicates that the publication contains new materials that have not yet been viewed.

Within 24 hours from the moment of posting, the publication created in this way will be located at the top of the news feed.

Control

The peculiarity of the story is that you cannot publish pictures or videos in a whole series. Having placed the first photo, you can add the next one to it, again performing the full cycle of the operations described above.

  1. You can save the piece you like to your iPhone, and delete the unsuccessful materials. You cannot erase a story if there are too many elements in it or you change your mind about posting it in one motion. This function is not provided. You will have to use the method described above to delete each fragment. With the latter, you will completely erase the post and it will disappear from the feed.

  1. As we know, you can only create a publication in a mobile application, but viewing and editing functions are available on a PC. When you open your page on your laptop, you will see the story at the top of the news feed.

  1. The control interface is completely similar to the mobile application. It is possible to send in a private message or edit.

  1. A warning window will appear when deleting. Despite the menacing content about the irreversibility of actions, in the desktop version it is also impossible to delete the story with one click. Only the element currently displayed on the monitor will be erased.

If desired, you can introduce a “division of labor.” Create a publication in the mobile application and edit it on your PC.

Finally

With these instructions, you'll be up and running with this feature in no time and can use it to spice up your interactions with friends.

Video instruction

If you still have questions regarding publishing stories on VK, watch the video below. The entire process described is shown clearly, and perhaps you will find the answer you need there.

Hi guys! A lot of time has passed since the launch. Instagram has even managed to update more than once. In general, stories have already been launched by everyone 😁 including VKontakte and Facebook ().

Users have more or less figured out how stories work, but new questions are starting to arise. One of them that I get asked most often is: “How to upload a photo or video to Instagram Story from your phone gallery?”

As you probably already noticed, Instagram allows you to upload only photos and videos taken in the last 24 hours to your story.. But there are situations when you really need to upload a cool photo that was taken before. Do you agree?

Guys, I hasten to please you that although Instagram doesn’t really like it, it’s still possible to do it 😉 I’ll tell you how to do it in this article!

How to upload a photo or video to Instagram Story

ATTENTION in view of the fact that many people come to this article with the question of how to generally upload photos or videos to a story, or how to upload several photos to one story, I am making a slight digression from the topic of the article so as not to redirect you around the site from the article to article.

Please look for answers to all other questions regarding stories.

How to create a story on Instagram

Option #1 - how to take a new photo or video for history

For that, to create a new story, just click on the history circle with a plus sign on the main page.

For that, to remove one more photo or video and add it to the already created story, click on the camera icon. By the way, you can also create a new story from there.

Draw on the photo, add stickers, text and click on the “Add to story” option. On this screen, you can also simply save your photo without sending it to Instagram.

Option #2 - how to add a photo or video from your phone gallery to your story (LESS THAN 24 HOURS)

How to upload multiple photos and videos to Instagram Story

You just need to upload each photo or video individually. Just like it is shown above. That is, you click on the camera icon, take or select a photo or video, decorate and publish. Go back into the cell and do the same actions. You can repeat it as many times as you like, but, from my own experience, I know that more than 5-7 stories a day from one person begin to irritate :) Except, of course, if you add something very interesting and original there.

Well, now, actually, to our topic! Let me remind you that this article is about old photos and videos ( MORE THAN 24 HOURS), which can be loaded into history in three ways outlined below.

———————

So we have three options how to do this:

  1. by screenshot (works, of course, only for photographs);
  2. by changing the file metadata (also only photos);
  3. through a special application called Storied For Instagram

Below I will talk about each of the methods in more detail.

No. 1 Taking a screenshot of a photo

The fastest and easiest way to post an old photo to your Instagram story is to take a screenshot of it. This way, Instagram will recognize a freshly taken screenshot as a new photo and will not resist publishing it in stories.

I wrote how to take a screenshot of the screen on different devices.

This method, unfortunately, has several disadvantages:

  • the quality of the screenshot will be slightly worse than that of the original photo;
  • You will have to manually trim the extra fields from the screenshot so it doesn't look like a screenshot.
  • This method only works for photographs. Of course, we won’t be able to screenshot the video.

Well, in general, when you really need it, it will do :)

No. 2 Changing photo metadata

Since in Instagram Stories we can only upload photos and videos taken in the last 24 hours, it turns out that we can outsmart Instagram by simply changing the shooting date.

This cannot be done manually, at least on iOS devices, so we will have to resort to the help of special applications.

The advantage of this method is that the photo will remain in the same quality, unlike a screenshot. The only disadvantage of this method is that we cannot carry out this “swindle” for video. By the way, I’ll tell you about the video in the third method, so read on!

The two best apps I've found for changing metadata are:

  • For iOS: MetaTrixter

MetaTrixter is a free application that will help change photo metadata, including date and geotags, that is, where the photo was taken. I use the last function when I can’t indicate on Instagram in the usual way that the photo was taken in a certain place.

Please note that when you change a photo's metadata in MetaTrixter, it does not create a copy of the photo, but edits the information in the original.

There is another application (this is only a paid one) that can change deeper settings such as camera view, shooting settings, etc. It is called ViewExif.

  • For Android: Photo Exif Editor

Photo Exif Editor, just like the application above, allows you to view and change the Exif data of your photos. This application is a little cooler than MetaTrixter, as it allows you to change even such data as the camera model, shooting settings and other information.

No. 3 Special application for photos and videos

Well, the last option, which I personally like more than others, is the Stories without Limits application (iOS). Although it is paid (only 99 cents), this application is the only option that will allow you to change the date of a video in one click, making it valid for publication in Instagram stories.

There are applications for Android:

  • Insta Stories for Instagram
  • IG Stories for Instagram likes

Update: Since the Storied For Instagram app no longer exists, I replaced it with an identical one from another developer.

If without pictures and briefly, then your actions should be as follows:

  1. download the app Stories without Limits
  2. go through it to the phone gallery
  3. select the photo or video you want to resave
  4. the application will save them again on your device and you will be able to load them into your history
  5. This application does not change your old files, but simply creates a copy with a new date in one click!

Want to know how to add a story to Instagram? And you probably want to know how the Instagram stories or stories add-on works?

Instagram stories allow you to record real-time videos or take photos using your smartphone and add them to a story that will be available to followers for just 24 hours.

In this article, you will learn how to create and add Instagram Stories and interact with people who post their stories.

What do Instagram Stories look like?

First, let's take a look at what Instagram is like. When you log into your Instagram account, you'll see the latest Instagram stories from people you follow at the top of your news feed.

The top of the Instagram news feed shows users who have posted the latest stories.

When you click on one of these circles, you will see the user's Instagram story for the day in 10 second increments, this can be a photo or video.

When viewing another Instagram user's profile that has a current story, you will see a circle around that user's profile photo. When you click on a profile photo, you will be able to view the user's current history.

When viewing a story where the owner allows messaging, you'll see an option to send messages at the bottom left of the story. The message will eventually end up in the user's messages, unlike if it were a regular post, comments on which everyone could see.

Now that you know how to view Instagram stories, let's look at an example of how you can create your own story.

How to upload a story to Instagram.

  • 1: Update the Instagram app to access Stories features.

Your first task is to update the Instagram app to see if you have the ability to create Instagram stories. On the App Store, the update looks like this:

Once you've downloaded this update, you should see the new feature at the top of your Instagram app, along with the latest stories from people you follow who are already using Stories.

The top part of the Instagram news feed that shows the most recent stories.

  • 2: Setting up Story parameters.

When it comes to Instagram Stories, you have two options. You can change your privacy settings for each individual Story you post, or for all of your Stories as a whole, in Instagram's main settings. For the latter, go to your Instagram profile and click on the settings icon in the top right corner.

Go to your profile to find settings in the upper right corner.

Then click on History Settings in the Profile section.

An overview of all your Instagram account settings.

From here, you can select specific people you don't want your stories shown to. You can also choose who can comment on your stories.

Settings for all your stories.

Please note that these settings will be available to you before publishing each new story, and this is very convenient.

  • 3: Create your first Instagram Story.

When you're ready to create and add your first story, tap the circled + icon in the top left corner of your Instagram screen.

Click on the "+ circled" button in the top left corner to create your first story.

Here, you can use the icons at the bottom of the screen from left to right to adjust the flash settings (if you're adding a photo), select a photo or video, or you can switch the camera from the front to the rear camera. If you press and hold the center button, you can record a 10-second video.

Take a photo or record a video.

It's worth noting that you can take videos or photos with your camera in landscape mode, but Instagram will publish your photo or video story in portrait mode.

Once you're done adding photos or video recordings to your story, you'll have the option to add text or draw something on your photo or video using the options in the top right corner of the screen. At the bottom of the screen, there are options with which you can cancel everything or start your story over again.

Once you're done with the photo/video description, click the checkmark at the bottom to add the photo or video to your story.

Edit photos or videos, cancel downloads, add to your story.

Once you've created and added your story, you'll see your profile photo at the top of your feed. Your photo will always appear first so you can easily access your current history at any time.

Your story will appear first at the top of your app, above the feed for easier and faster access.

If you want to add more photos or videos to your already created or added story, click on the “+ in a circle” icon in the upper left corner to record a video or take a photo. Each new video or photo will be added to the end of your story and will be available for 24 hours.

  • 4: How to change part of your Instagram story.

When you first click on your story, you will see three dots in the bottom right corner. Click on these three dots to bring up the following options.

Options and features for every part of your story.

Please note that any of these options apply to every 10-second segment (photo or video) of your story. This means you can do the following:

The same settings apply to newly added photos and videos in your story. You can delete unnecessary photos or video parts of the story, except those that are needed, etc.

  • 5: View history statistics.

When followers start viewing your story, you will be able to see the number of people who viewed a specific part of your story.

View history statistics.

You can click on this count or number to see more detailed information, such as how many views you have for each part of your story and who viewed which part of your story.

Let's see who viewed your Instagram story.

From here, you can also add photo or video parts to the story, post photo or video parts of your story as posts on your Instagram profile, or delete photo and video parts of the story. You can also change your story settings using the wheel-shaped settings icon in the top left corner.

  • 6: Review inbox messages from your stories.

If you've given subscribers the ability to send you messages from your story, you should be careful when checking your inbox. Also keep in mind that when someone you don't follow sends you a message, the message will end with a message request and you won't receive a notification that the person sent you a message from your story.

To check your messages, tap the message icon in the top right corner of the Instagram app.

Click on the message field in the top right corner to find messages in

Here you will see if you have any messages or message requests.

In Direct - Incoming messages from Instagram.

When you click on the message requests link, you can often find some spam, but you may also find messages related to your history. These messages will be accompanied by a portion of the snapshot from your story where the user left the comment.

An example of a message request for a story.

If you have opened access to commenting on your stories, do not forget to respond to messages, as in all social networks, popularity incl. depends on interaction with the audience!

In addition, if you write letters in response to other users' stories, your message may end up in the same message requests that ended up with you. If you really want to get a response to your message, then you may have to duplicate it in a comment on one of the user's posts on Instagram, because the person might not realize that your message is not available to him.

How to combine parts of a story into one video file?

One of the biggest things Snapchat allows you to do is upload your entire history for the day into one video file. Unfortunately, Instagram itself does not currently have this option. At least not yet. Currently, you can only upload a specific photo or video of your story on an individual basis.

If you only used photos, you can use an application like PhotoGrid, this application allows you to combine the most interesting photos into a video photo collage with various effects.

Finally.

With Instagram's new algorithm, you can be at the forefront of everyone's news feeds. By adding new content to your Instagram story, you can stay at the top of your followers' story feeds all day long. The key to popularity will depend on understanding when the largest portion of your followers will be online and what content will be most interesting to them!
