iPad Apple or Samsung which is better to buy. Comparison of Tablets from Samsung, Apple and Asus

Excellence manifests itself in competition. Every day, every hour, every second in various markets there is a struggle between manufacturers for leading positions. In particular, in the mobile device market there is constant rivalry between two companies: Apple and Samsung. Today we will find out which is better - an iPad or a tablet.

Full comparison

We think that it would be best to divide the entire comparison process into several points in order to clearly see the difference, as well as the advantages of one or another model. For comparison, the following 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are taken.

1. Operating system

The Galaxy Tab runs Android 3.1, which is simply chock full of various utilities and settings, such as Google Maps, YouTube, Google Mail, and so on. There is much more functionality here than in iOS. An Android-based device can be customized in detail to suit your own use. But Android has its own problem - sometimes it slows down and, naturally, this system quickly drains the battery. iOS is much simpler and clearer. It is easy to operate and does not require long-term setup. But basically all content uploaded to such a system is paid.

2. "Iron"

Here we will talk about power, determining which is better - an iPad or a Galaxy Tab tablet. Apple operates on a dual-core processor with a frequency of 900 Mhz and the PoweVR graphics platform, 512 Mb of RAM, allowing it to easily perform all kinds of actions without slowdowns or freezes. Samsung has acquired a dual-core Nvidia Tegra processor with a frequency of 1 Ghz and a ULP GPU graphics platform, 1 GB of RAM, which gives the device much more power for labor-intensive processes. Drawing a conclusion about what it is in terms of performance, you can call it Galaxy Tab without a twinge of conscience.

3. Display

An important part of the device, especially when looking for an answer to the question of which is better - an iPad or a Galaxy Tab tablet. The Samsung device has a 10.1-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 800x1280 dpi. This is very high quality and full-featured on the iPad 2, which also does not disappoint - a 9.7-inch TFT screen with a pleasant backlight with a resolution of 768x1024 dpi. The screen is very rich and bright, working on such a display is quite comfortable and pleasant. When comparing these devices and looking to answer the question of which is better - an iPad or a Galaxy tablet - this section looks to be a tie. Because both displays look decent and extraordinary.

Galaxy Tab is equipped with an excellent 3.2 megapixel camera with the ability to record video at 720p resolution. This is a very convenient camera with LED flash and autofocus. In addition, there is 2 MP, which can be used for video calls. The iPad 2 has a much more modest camera at its disposal - 0.7 megapixels. But it also has the ability to record video at 720p resolution. Obviously, the computer for a person who pays a lot of attention to the camera will fall on the Galaxy Tab.

Results

Yes, from the above it is clear that in almost all aspects the Samsung tablet looks more worthy, especially in terms of hardware. Despite this, Apple's brainchild is a worthy choice among tablets, as it is simple and easy to use. Both are excellent options that guarantee the user maximum impact and efficiency.

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S4 tablet on August 1. The iPad, released in the spring of 2018, suggested itself as a rival. To save your time, we made a comparison in the video, but separately considered several points that are important for business.

Work tool

Market leaders are trying to make the pen as standard a tool for work as the screen and external keyboard. Although Apple occupies the first place in tablet sales, it was Samsung that stubbornly used the stylus, which Apple initially ignored, then carefully returned in the professional Pro line, and now made available in standard iPads.

It’s convenient to take notes with a stylus on the iPad; you no longer need to carry a notepad, everything happens as naturally as on paper. It is felt that there is a distance between the pen and the “sheet”, but this does not interfere with the work. More importantly, you must remember to charge the pen. This can be done by unscrewing the cap (there is a lightning connector there) and inserting the pen into the tablet. This does not require extra adapters, but you can’t work with this design on the go - it’s better to charge the pen in advance.

We asked the art director of the ACMG publishing house to draw. The drawings look amazing on both the Tab 4 and the iPad. According to a colleague, the Samsung pen is more predictable, and the Apple stylus is easier to hold in the hand.

Last but not least on the list is the issue of price. A pen for iPad will cost almost 7,000 rubles, and a Samsung S-pen will cost about 2,000 rubles: Apple’s inflated pricing policy no longer surprises anyone.

Remembering Windows

The general impressions of the tablets can be described as follows: the Tab S4 is faster, and the iPad is sleeker. In theory, the screen of a Samsung tablet should be better, since it is made using OLED technology, but this could not be discovered in a week: on smartphones this difference is immediately visible.

But the Tab S4 stands out among its competitors with its DeX mode. On this model it works without hardware attachments. After its activation, the tablet interface takes on a Windows-like appearance with a desktop and icons that launch the application, collected at the bottom of the screen.

It is most convenient to use it when the keyboard is connected to the tablet in a horizontal position. Despite the fact that its size is half the size of a regular one, it is much more convenient than a screen one for writing notes.

Price paradox

When Apple devices cost more, we're not surprised. However, the iPad itself in a comparable configuration is 10,000 rubles cheaper. It turns out that the Tab S4 for 53,000 rubles is rather a competitor to the iPad Pro and is intended for users who consciously choose to work on a tablet, while Apple can offer more economical modifications of the new iPad, to which the user can optionally purchase an expensive stylus and keyboard.

In this situation, Samsung may earn a little more, but the balance of power in the market will not change.

Many people appreciate portable solutions for watching movies or web pages. Several gadgets are suitable for these purposes. The choice falls on a laptop or tablet. Some people ask what or iPad? But they don’t understand that this is also a tablet, only from Apple. iPad is a mobile device with rich functionality, a multi-touch display and no keyboard. Let's highlight the history of the appearance of the tablet from Apple and determine the best iPad.

Apple tablet line

The first iPad appeared in 2010 and was called iPad. Outwardly it looked like a rectangle with rounded corners. The device took on the role of a “layer” between a laptop and a smartphone. Its resolution was 1024 x 768 pixels. There is also built-in memory on board, the size of which is set at 64 GB. Let's look at modern gadgets.

Modern devices

There are several gadget options available now. These include: iPad, iPad Pro and mini. Let's look at each model separately and determine which iPad is better.

iPad

Classic iPad

A classic solution from Apple. After purchasing, you will find beautiful packaging that shows the company's attitude towards its products and users. The tablet has a rectangular shape. Thin frames will provide the greatest possible comfort to the eyes during use. A large number of supported text formats makes it the best reader.

Equipment and prices

Once you unbox your iPad, you'll receive the tablet, charger, Lightning cable, and some instructions. If you already own any device from the Cupertino company, then the unboxing process will seem familiar to you. The tablet comes in several colors: gold, space gray, silver. The price depends on a number of factors. These include the presence of a 4G module and the amount of built-in memory. The official website provides several options for purchase:

  • 32 GB + Wi-Fi – 24,900 rubles;
  • 128 GB + Wi-Fi – RUR 31,990;
  • 32 GB + Wi-Fi + 4G – RUR 34,990;
  • 128 GB + Wi-Fi + 4G – 41,990 rub.

Ease of use

We all know how convenient and pleasant it is to use Apple devices. To increase comfort and safety, it is recommended to purchase a Smart Cover. This way the gadget will be protected from external influences. It will also provide one nice bonus in the form of a stand. This feature will allow you to watch movies without holding the gadget suspended. I'm not happy about the lack of a Smart Connector, with which you can connect various devices. In other words, if you want to connect a non-Bluetooth keyboard, the gadget will refuse you.

Different colors of the device

Display

The company strictly follows its standards and adheres to the 9.7-inch diagonal. This size will provide a large screen and maximum ease of use. It is worth mentioning the Retina technology that the gadget is equipped with. The screen resolution is 2048 x 1536 pixels, with a pixel density of 263ppi. Not all laptops are equipped with such a screen. The company has something to be proud of here.

Sound

The sound is good, but not perfect. The regular version still lacks stereo speakers. Although the sound quality is at a high level, for that kind of money I would like to have a stereo. But you have to be content with what you have. This version is equipped with 2 speakers at the bottom. Thanks to this, the sound will not be blocked if you place the iPad on the table.

Performance

For a portable device, the hardware is more than good. It is also worth taking into account the optimization of the operating system. For this special thanks to the company. Let's look at the main characteristics:

  • A10 Fusion processor M10 coprocessor;
  • RAM: 2 GB;
  • Built-in memory: 32/128 GB;
  • Battery capacity 32.4 Wh (10 hours of operation);
  • Operating system: iOS 12.

Autonomy

What's the point of having a portable device if you're sitting next to a power outlet? Fortunately, the iPad does not have this problem. There is a fairly powerful battery with a capacity of 32.4 Wh on board. Capable of surfing the Internet or watching movies for 10 hours. A test was conducted in the PCMart application. During testing, the device worked for 9 hours. In any barrel of honey, there is a fly in the ointment. This gadget is no exception. It takes a long time to charge – 4 hours. For this reason, do not forget to charge your gadget regularly. Especially if you travel often.

Camera

Some people think that a camera on a tablet is not needed at all. However, this is a big misconception. The iPad is great for video calling. For example, via FaceTime or Skype. The tablet has front (1.2 MP) and main (8 MP) cameras. Some will think that this is not enough. However, it is not! The main one can record video in high resolution (FullHD) at 30 fps. Also a nice bonus is the accelerated shooting mode (slow mo).

iPad Pro

Appearance of iPad Pro 2018

Apple's productivity solution. It is intended for people whose profession involves everyday office tasks. Suitable for designers, especially if you have an Apple Pencil. It has a larger screen and more powerful hardware. Let's consider the cost of devices; for convenience, we will take the minimum, average and maximum indicators.

Options and prices

  1. 11 inches + 64 GB + Wi-Fi – RUB 65,990;
  2. 11 inches + 512 GB + Wi-Fi + 4G – RUB 105,990;
  3. 12.9 inches + 1TB + Wi-Fi + 4G – 153,990 rub.

Ease of use

Apple carefully considers the ergonomics of its equipment, so there are no complaints about convenience. The only thing that might confuse me is the large screen. Unlike the budget version, there is a Smart Connector. Unlike the simple version, FaceID is installed.

Display

There are significant differences here. Uses Liquid Retina with Pro Motion and True Tone technologies. This provides a brighter, more saturated image. The screen resolution is 2388 x 1668 pixels. This is done in order to keep the pixel density at 264ppi.

Camera on Pro device

Performance

For those who like to play demanding games, this device is what they need. This is possible thanks to a modern processor.

  1. A12X Bionic processor M12 coprocessor;
  2. RAM: 4 GB;
  3. Built-in memory: 64/256/512/1024 GB;
  4. Battery capacity 29.37/36.71 Wh (10 hours of operation);
  5. Operating system: iOS 12.

Autonomy

Autonomy is no different from the budget version.

Camera

The camera has also undergone changes. The main 12MP allows you to shoot 4K video at 30 or 60 fps. Also an improved flash, made using True Tone technology. Not satisfied with large sizes? Then let's turn to the iPad mini 4.

iPad mini 4

Appearance of iPad Mini

A smaller version of the regular iPad. Suitable for those who like compactness. If you lead an active lifestyle, then you should consider purchasing this mini gadget.

Equipment and prices

  1. 128 GB + Wi-Fi – 29990rub;
  2. 128 GB + Wi-Fi + 4G – 39,990 rub.

Ease of use

Ease of use varies from person to person. If you are used to using compact sizes, then there will be more convenience than when using the Pro version. For quick unlocking there is TouchID. There is no support for Apple Pencil.

Display

The only difference from the regular version is the pixel density. It is 326 pixels per inch. It is also equipped with an anti-reflective coating.

Performance

Weaker hardware is installed, but this does not make the gadget slow in operation. You still get a fast and stable device.

  1. A8 processor M8 coprocessor;
  2. RAM: 2 GB;
  3. Built-in memory: 128 GB;
  4. Battery capacity 19.1 Wh (10 hours of operation);
  5. Operating system: iOS 12.

Autonomy

Autonomy is no different from the regular version

Camera

The only difference is the lack of flash.

We've dealt with Apple products, but they're not the only ones that produce tablets. Let's compare devices from different brands. Let's take Apple's main competitor, Samsung, as a basis.

So what should you choose, iPad or Samsung? Both tablets have their strengths and weaknesses. But many people stick to Apple's solution because of the iOS system. In their opinion, this is the best option.

Results

This article examined Apple tablets and also compared them with their main competitors. Which is better to choose an iPad or a laptop? The laptop has less mobility and is not suitable for use, for example, in public transport. Also, when reading literature, there is no tactile sensation. But it is more convenient to write text on a laptop, since there is a full-size keyboard. We hope you liked the article and you don’t have any questions about which ipad model to choose.

It's been a while since we've had a comparison of something top-end. But it just so happened that the editorial office had the new iPad Pro 10.5 and Samsung Tab S3 at the same time. Since both devices are similar in many ways (both in price and in features), I decided to compare them and choose the “Best Tablet of 2017”.

Appearance

This is a very subjective parameter. But it is worth saying that both tablets look great. These are expensive, beautiful and very high quality devices that are a pleasure to use. It is very difficult to find fault with them, but there are still a few little things that I would mention.

Samsung will not decide on the location of USB Type-C. Sometimes it shifts a little in height, sometimes it’s simply not in the center, as in this case. It is very difficult to understand what exactly is going on in the heads of the company’s engineers when they choose the next location for the connector. But everything else does not raise questions.

Something wonderful is happening at Apple too. The iPad Pro has four speakers on the bottom and top edges, but the placement of the cutouts is slightly different. In addition, even the size of these cutouts is different. I understand that this is already too “nerdy”, but from this company you expect attention to even the most insignificant details, but here there is such an asymmetry.

The tablets weigh almost the same, but the iPad has a noticeably larger screen and smaller bezels around the display. The latter is not particularly important for such a device, but it’s still nice. There is no clear favorite in terms of design. Both tablets turned out to be stylish and laconic.

Display

It seemed to me that in a comparison of displays the Tab S3 would be the clear favorite. See for yourself: 9.7-inch Super AMOLED matrix with a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels, “real” black color, excellent color rendition and support for HDR content. It seems that the iPad with its IPS screen is clearly losing out. But no.

Apple didn't come up with anything new, they just took existing technology and applied it to their tablet. The so-called Promotion is responsible for dynamically changing the screen refresh rate. The frequency directly depends on the type of content being displayed (for example, 120 Hz will be when using Safari). When you pick up the tablet for the first time, you are surprised at how smooth everything is.

Even when simply reading the news or browsing your Instagram feed, you notice that consuming content on the iPad screen is much more pleasant.

The installed matrix supports displaying a wider DCI-P3 color gamut, and this will allow, for example, to convey all the colors and shades of a photograph with the same accuracy as on a professional monitor. So in terms of screen quality, the iPad has an undeniable advantage.

We didn’t have any branded styluses, so we couldn’t compare them. But the logic of operation and their capabilities are approximately the same. So the advantage of one solution over another will depend directly on the programs used and individual needs.

Performance

On this point, the iPad Pro is clearly ahead. The six-core A10X processor and the new PowerVR graphics accelerator are capable of running all modern projects at maximum settings. No problems or delays – pure pleasure.

The Tab S3 has a Snapdragon 820 installed, which is still quite good, but it’s hard for it to compete with a newcomer. This becomes noticeable both in games and when actively using the same multitasking. The tablet sometimes takes a couple of seconds to load the application, but on the iPad the switching occurs instantly.

It is worth saying that some manufacturers are trying “a little” harder and better optimizing their projects for iOS. The main problem with the Tab S3 is Android. The tablet is capable of running literally everything at high settings, but not all games can correctly detect the screen resolution and aspect ratio, which is why the image turns out to be either pixelated or with minor distortions. Telltale's Batman is a great example of this.

There are no problems with RAM in the devices. They have 4GB installed, which is enough for all tasks. But Samsung has a little less built-in memory in the minimum configuration - only 32 GB. But this can be compensated for by microSD cards.

There is no point in comparing the two operating systems in 2017. Everyone already knows about everything. Only in terms of music software is iOS still superior to Android. It will be interesting to make a comparison after the release of new firmware for the iPad. It will have a file manager and a full-fledged dock. So we'll leave that for later.

The battery life of the tablets is approximately the same - from 8 to 10 hours in mixed mode. But Samsung charges a little faster.

Sound quality and connectors

Both tablets are equipped with four speakers. In the Tab S3, the manufacturer used solutions from AKG, and in the iPad Pro they were developed in-house. There is enough volume for both, but the iPad has much more low frequencies. Watching movies and YouTube videos on it is a real pleasure. The sound is like from a good external speaker. It’s hard to believe that they managed to fit such cool speakers into such a compact body.

Samsung does not provide such a “wow” effect. Yes, the sound is spacious, but the quality that is in the iPad is simply not there.

USB Type-C, for all its modernity and versatility, is still very young. Those accessories that appear are not always compatible with a specific model. For example, the 3.5mm adapter simply refused to work with the Tab S3.

And Lightning has been on the market for several years now; there are a huge number of accessories with this connector, all of them will work with the iPad Pro.

Camera

The most serious competition in the tablet device market has emerged between iPad and Samsung devices. From year to year, manufacturers try to outdo each other in design, technical characteristics or functionality, trying to introduce new ideas into products or improve old ones. It is not at all surprising that buyers have doubts about whether it is better to buy an iPad or a Samsung. Even an experienced user can find it difficult to figure it out, and even more so for a beginner.

Design

The first thing a buyer usually pays attention to is the appearance of the tablet. It is through design that the overall impression is formed and the desire to take a closer look at the gadget appears (or does not appear).

Apple does not change its traditions - all the best tablet models are equipped with a reliable metal case in classic colors (some lines offer unusual shades). The material practically does not get dirty, fingerprints are easily erased, but even the thinnest crack is very noticeable. Tablets are characterized by small thickness and thin frames around the display. Overall, the iPad looks very stylish, and the design itself already feels high quality, although some users complain about the monotony in terms of design.

Samsung prefers plastic cases. Caring for them is even easier; there are almost no fingerprints left, especially if the surface is matte. The strength of plastic is lower. Another drawback is the “cheap” look compared to the solid feel of metal.

Price-quality ratio

If we compare the price/quality ratio, then Samsung tablets come first. Both manufacturers try to release several versions of the same device, the main difference between them being the amount of built-in memory. Accordingly, the less memory, the cheaper the device. But even Apple's most affordable tablets can be too expensive for the average buyer. Of course, no one doubts the high quality of the equipment, but the cost of the device is tens of times lower. There is only one conclusion - the cost is determined by the high popularity of the famous brand.

As for Samsung tablets, some of the best flagship models are also hardly inexpensive, but they are still much cheaper than the iPad. Even if we compare versions with the same amount of memory and evaluate them by characteristics, the difference in price tags will be about 5-10 thousand rubles.

Performance

To understand the features of tablets in more detail and understand which is better, you should compare two specific models: iPad Air and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). These are some of the best tablet models from Apple and Samsung, which have the maximum similarity in parameters, so the comparison will be quite objective. It should be noted that the performance capabilities are almost at the same level, but there are some differences.

The Samsung tablet has a processor frequency almost 2 times higher (2300 MHz versus 1400 MHz). Particular attention should be paid to the amount of RAM, since this parameter often plays a key role in the speed of the gadget. The Note is equipped with 3 GB of RAM (this characteristic is not often found), while the Air has only 1 GB. According to the results of numerous tests conducted using special services, Apple is ahead of Samsung in terms of performance and speed.

If we take into account user reviews, it is recommended to purchase an iPad for games - more high-quality games with excellent graphics are released for iOS. Both competitors are designed to work with cellular communications, and there is a separate version of the iPad (+Cellular) that offers this feature.

Many users are concerned about the lifespan of the device. iOS has to be updated no more than once every few years, while a new version of Android is released almost every year, which is not very convenient. In addition, if the gadget is not among the top most popular, the update may never reach it.

Screen

Most iPad models are equipped with displays with the manufacturer's traditional dimensions of 9.7 inches. To find out whether an iPad is worth buying, given its high price tag, we will again compare the iPad Air and Note 10.1 in terms of graphic parameters. With almost the same diagonal (for Samsung it is 10.1 inches), the Note has a higher resolution - 2560 by 1600 megapixels versus 2048 by 1536 megapixels (iPad). At the same time, the device displays are made on the basis of two different technologies – iPS (iPad) and Super Clear LCD (Samsung).

IPS

The picture on the IPS screen looks bright, rich and rich, the image has high-quality detail, and the black color has sufficient depth, thanks to the perpendicular arrangement of the pixels in relation to each other. The disadvantages of IPS include a long response time, so during gameplay or during dynamic scenes in video recordings, the screen may not perform well. Compared to Super Clear LCD, this matrix is cheaper. Retina technology, present in some Apple models and until recently considered the manufacturer’s calling card, is also based on IPS. Pixel density per inch – 264 ppi.

Super Clear LCD

Super Clear LCD is more expensive because displays based on this technology have appeared relatively recently. The technology is based on active LEDs: when voltage is applied, the diodes glow with the required light. The high brightness of the display is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The tablet is convenient to use in bright sunlight, but prolonged use of the device causes eye fatigue. The same goes for contrast. Among the advantages, it is necessary to note the smaller thickness of the display, fast response, and selective efficiency. (thanks to separate pixel backlighting). Pixel density per inch – 299 ppi.

In conclusion, it should be said that the viewing angles are equally good for both opponents. However, IPS is still one step ahead. Given the recent emergence of Super Clear LCD, perhaps manufacturers will begin to improve the technology.

Summarize

Of course, everyone wants to have the best tablet, and at an affordable price. As you may have noticed, the two competing gadgets have both their advantages and disadvantages. However, in general, they are distinguished by high build quality, excellent performance, and support for all the functions necessary for a modern user. To finally decide whether it is better to buy an iPad or a Samsung, highlight for yourself the main tasks that the device should cope with: browsing the web and social networks, playing games, books or playing videos.
