What to do if your Acer tablet does not turn on? My favorite tablet, which was so convenient to read books and enjoy games on, suddenly stopped turning on. Here are some reasons and solutions to them:

  • Discharged battery;
  • The power button is broken;
  • Malfunction of the power connector;
  • The Android operating system crashed;
  • Internal mechanical failures;
  • Recommendations from the Service Center.

Discharged battery

A common problem with a tablet that won't turn on is a dead battery. Therefore, first of all, connect your Acer device to the charger and wait until the charge indicator appears. If the battery no longer holds a charge, it is better to replace it.

The power button is broken

This problem occurs due to frequent on-off switching. Each element has its own service life, perhaps it has expired on the Acer tablet. There are two reasons - a broken button lever and loose contacts. To fix it, you need to disassemble the tablet and check for damage. It is recommended that this be done by a service center that repairs and maintains Acer equipment.

Power connector malfunction

Frequent breakdowns that interfere with the normal charging process. Reasons why the tablet does not turn on:

  • loose contact due to careless use of the AC port;
  • burnt-out connector due to the use of an unsuitable charger;
  • power surge in the network.

To fix it, the tablet is disassembled, the connector contacts are restored, or it is completely replaced.

Android operating system crashed

When running Android OS, software glitches are common, disrupting important files necessary for loading and functioning of the tablet computer. This is due to:

  • installing broken programs;
  • "glitches" in programs;
  • operating system updates;
  • firmware to an alternative version.

The tablet does not turn on in such cases - it either hangs on the splash screen with the Acer logo, or immediately reboots. To restore the OS, you need to enter the engineering menu (recovery) by simultaneously holding down the power and volume keys. If the firmware is “bricked,” you will need to connect to a desktop computer and use special recovery programs. It is better to entrust the solution to problems related to the device software to professionals.

Internal mechanical failures

If an Acer tablet is dropped even from a small height or accidentally sat on it, and it does not start, then there is a high probability of not only external visible damage (cracked screen, scratches on the case), but also internal, invisible damage to the eye. To identify the exact cause, the gadget is disassembled and the electronics are completely checked with an oscilloscope.

A tablet is a complex electronic device that is sensitive to shock, power surges and high humidity. Repair at home is a non-trivial task associated with engineering skills, the use of special equipment for diagnostics, restoration and replacement of damaged elements. The service center has everything you need, where you can quickly and comfortably repair your Acer tablet with a guarantee of continued startup and performance. The quality control department checks whether the tablet computer turns on and delivers working equipment to the owner free of charge.

Acer Iconia W501 display does not turn on. The tablet does not initialize.

The first tablets were expensive, weighed a lot, had little battery life - and, moreover, they ran on an adult OS. Therefore, they were immediately knocked down by unexpectedly appearing netbooks. But it was these monsters that formed the first idea of tablets. When the first iPad was first announced, many were perplexed: they were expecting half a MacBook, but what they got was a large iPod touch. In the wake of the popularity of new generation tablets, some manufacturers decided to revive the genre and began producing devices running Windows 7. One of the representatives of this type is the Acer Iconia Tab w500. (http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=244028&st=40) This tablet is more like a full-fledged netbook. There are two USB connectors, an HDMI connector, two RAM on the board, SSD hard drive

and even a cooler. It's hard to imagine current tablets with such an arsenal of components.

This representative of the first tablets came into my hands with a malfunction: no display on the display. Diagnostics in our case is comparable to the diagnostics of a laptop, since, as mentioned above, the components and assembly are practically “laptop-like”.

The first thing that had to be done with this tablet was to reactivate the battery, since, according to the client, the tablet had not been used for two years. Having charged three “banks” to 4.1 V. I threw the battery onto the tablet and the device began to show signs of life: the cooler started up, voltage came to the BIOS flash drive, and other important parts of the tablet. But the display didn't work. This is already good, everything is not so hopeless.

The next step was to check the BIOS flash drive. Having unsoldered the flash drive, it was discovered that the code on the flash drive was almost erased. This happens due to sudden voltage changes. For example, when the tablet was working, the charging connector was pulled out and inserted, due to power surges in the network, or if the tablet was charging in a car, etc. There are many reasons for the same thing: power surges disabled the flash BIOS.

Finding BIOS firmware for acer iconia w501 is not at all difficult. All firmware is freely available on their official website. http://www.acer.com/ac/ru/RU/content/drivers

But the fact is that the serial number is not registered in these firmwares, and therefore there will be no effect from BIOS programming.

Having registered the serial number properly and in the right place on the programmer and soldered the component onto the board, the tablet was initialized! You can watch my colleague’s video on how to register a serial number.

By the way, the BIOS firmware for Acer iconia w501 is also suitable for Acer iconia w500, since these two “animals” are identical. And if you somehow lost the serial number of your tablet (it’s hard to imagine, but everything happens in life) or you don’t want to bother with registering the serial number, you can flash the BIOS flash drive with a dump from the w500)
Well, that's all, after installing Windows 8.1. The tablet came back to life and started working like new. Thank you for your attention and goodbye!
