Copy audio CD to mp3. How to copy an audio disc to a computer. Alternative programs for copying music to disk

Hello, I will briefly state my problem. I have very little experience working on a computer, so don’t scold me too much for asking questions. I recently purchased a laptop with the Windows 7 operating system preinstalled. I know that it does not have a built-in program for working with CDs and DVDs, meaning recording and so on. Accordingly, the question is, the information I need, because there is probably good and proven free software? I tried to use the ImgBurn program, but in my opinion it doesn’t have a function for direct copying of disks at all, or I just didn’t find it? I also want to install Ashampoo Burning Studio, then everything will probably be fine. Dmitriy.
Second letter. I've encountered a problem that I can't fix on my own. I understood the settings of the Nero 8 program and apparently changed something in the Nero Burning ROM application, now instead of rewriting the disk I need to a blank disc, Nero tries to Save the image file on the hard drive.
And in Nero Express I create an image from my files and burn it to disk, but the information on this disk is completely unreadable. Thank you in advance. Vladimir.

How to copy from disk to disk

As you correctly noted, there are quite a lot of free programs that could rewrite almost any CD or DVD you own. Personally, I prefer to work with two free applications Ashampoo Burning Studio And ImgBurn, which have long proven themselves to be good. Well, two paid ones Nero 8 And Nero 6.
Unfortunately, Windows 7 itself can only burn the finished image onto a blank CD (if you hover your mouse over any image and right-click, a menu will open in which you can select Open with, and then select Windows Disc Image Burner).

And very often one of the very first problems that beginners face after purchasing a computer is finding and installing programs for working with CDs and DVDs.
So our freely distributed ones are Ashampoo Burning Studio and ImgBurn. They are very easy to work with, they are in Russian and even a complete beginner can handle them. How to download and install these programs is described step by step in our article - you can follow the link and read it, I won’t repeat it. In this article I will go straight to working with them. For those who are interested how to copy from disk to disk various information using Nero 8 and Nero 6, and what mistakes can be made, can go straight to the end of the article.
Ashampoo Burning Studio, the main window of the program, as you can see, its capabilities are quite large and it will undoubtedly be useful to you. So, insert the disc that you need to copy or rewrite into a CD/DVD drive.
Choose Copy CD/DVD/Bly-ray disc.

Next you need to select the source drive, those users who have programs installed for working with virtual drives, for example Daemon Tools, must indicate here exactly their real drive, in my case Optiarc DVD RW AD-7191S and click next.

We insert a blank CD or DVD, depending on what we are copying. Click Burn DVD

A short recording process occurs and the disc is ready.

How to copy from disk to disk the files we need using ImgBurn. Before us is the main window of the program. This program was originally intended primarily for creating and burning almost any existing images. You can also use it to create an audio CD from files: AAC, APE, FLAC and the like. It is possible to create a DVD video disc from the VIDEO_TS folder.
This program does not have the Copy CD/DVD function directly, but if you do not need to rewrite discs often, you can first create an image of the disc you need in this program, and then burn it to a blank disc.
In the main program window, select Create disk image.

We select the destination folder, that is, where exactly on our hard drive the image will be created.

You can select the desktop and give the image any name, for example My image, then click the Save button.

Press the read button. An image is being created.

Now it’s time to burn this image onto a blank disk, insert it into the CD/DVD drive.
In the main ImgBurn window, select Burn image to disk.

In Select file,

select our image and then Open.

Now let's look at working with Nero 8.
The initial window of the Nero 8 program is Nero StartSmart, from which we can launch the following programs, with which we can copy the files we need and more from disk to disk.
Nero StartSmart- a module for launching your ready-made projects
Nero Burning ROM– a special module for creating images and burning discs
Nero Express– a very simple module, one might say for the same purposes.
Let's start with Nero StartSmart - insert the disc into the drive and click on the Copy Disc button, then Copy.

After a short copying process

insert a blank disc to burn and press Download, in a couple of minutes our disk will be ready.

The same can be done using Nero Burning ROM. Select Launch Nero applications and tools, then Nero Burning ROM.

If we want to rewrite a DVD, then select the project DVD, then DVD-Copy and most importantly, if you intend to rewrite a DVD disc, and NOT create an image, then in the List of recorders item your CD/DVD drive, in my case Optiarc DVD RW AD-7191S. Click Copy.

The copying process will begin, then you will need to insert a blank disc.

Nero Express is also very simple.

Image, project, copying. Copy of the entire DVD.

We also pay attention to the fact that Source drive And Receiver drive were specified correctly, click on the Copy button.

Saving a CD audio disc for storing files on a computer is a simple task, but given the lack of popularity of CD discs, it is poorly described. And so, we take out our CD collections from the bins and start copying them to the computer.

How to copy music from a CD to a computer?

If you have a collection of CDs with good music, you've probably wondered how to transfer it to your computer. Regular copying of files will not work here, since most disks are protected from this. But there is a way, the standard Windows Media Player will help us.

Why can't you just copy the files? The fact is that the disk displays shortcuts to music files (in cda format). If you transfer them to a computer, they will only run if there is a disk.

Let's get started. Through the Start menu, open Windows Media Player (in the Accessories folder).

Before copying, let's make changes in the program settings (Arrange → Options).

In the settings, go to the Ripping music from CD tab.

Let the file saving format be MP3, and the sound quality be the best. Please note that the better the sound quality, the more space you will need on your computer.

Save the changes made and close the settings window.

Then select your CD from the library. Most likely it will be called Unknown Album. In the main player window you should see a list of songs. If you don’t need any, then uncheck the boxes next to them. And click on the Copy from CD button.

The program will offer to leave copy protection. That is, so that the music is played only on this computer. Feel free to refuse (Do not enable protection) and confirm by ticking that you are aware of copyright laws.

All you have to do is wait for the copying to complete.

Look for copied files in the user folder in the Music directory.

How to Rip Music from Audio CD

Launching Ashampoo

Select Burn or convert music > Convert Audio CD

We insert into the drive of your computer the Audio CD that you want to copy or convert. If the inserted disk is good, click Next >

Ashampoo searches the Internet for the exact listing for our CD. Since this is a unique and only disc (which we recorded in the previous article), it will not find anything, but it will offer something. If the proposal matches the contents of the disk, click OK; if not, click Cancel.

A window will open in which you can select the tracks you want to save. By default, all is selected. You can rename any track by highlighting it and clicking on the corresponding button. When you are satisfied with everything, click Next >

Using the Browse button, select... the folder to save the music.

Then we select the format to which we will convert. MP3, WMA and WAV can be selected

Select the one you need and click Change options... to select the quality of track conversion.

For MP3, the quality can be varied by setting the bitrate. The higher this value, the better the quality of the music and the larger the track size. I am completely satisfied with the default value of 192 Kbps

For the WMA (Windows Media Audio) format, you can select the average speed in Hertz (the default is a maximum of 44100 Hz), channels: stereo or mono, and quality. The latter is set with a slider. The default is 0.9.

For the WAV format, the same options are available as for WMA, only without selecting quality.

It seems to me that if you set the maximum quality in the WMA format, you will get the same thing as WAV.

I select the MP3 format and default quality and click Convert >

We are waiting for the conversion to finish

and check the result.

All! We copied music from Audio CD to computer and converted CDA to MP3. The conversion is quite fast and most likely depends little on processor power.

Best regards, Anton Dyachenko

Very often (almost always) music on a CD is protected from copying. If you open a CD, you will notice that all “tracks” have a volume of less than 1 KB - usually 44 bytes. When simply copying to a hard drive, it is these music “shortcuts” (CD tracks) that will be copied, and not the mp3 files.

In the screenshot: labels for mp3 files on a disc with Celine Dion's album.(post published July 2010)

There are many grabber programs that read and write write-protected music discs. For example, enough software AudioGrabber which, despite its simplicity, has many subtle and convenient settings. However, it is quite possible to get by with the standard media player that comes with the Windows operating system: You can copy music from a CD to your computer using regular Windows Media Player!

How to Rip Music from a CD to Your Computer Using Windows Media Player

If you have removed the Media Player program shortcut from your desktop, you can launch it from the menu: “Start” - “All Programs” - “Windows Media Player”.

Insert the CD or DVD into the drive and select “Copy from disk” in the main menu of the Media Player program.

We choose whether or not to enable copy protection and understand “that music... is protected by copyright laws...”. Then click “OK”.

Copying audio files to your hard drive begins...

By default, a folder with album music is created in the standard “My Music” folder on drive C. You can get to it through the “My Documents” folder or through the menu: “Start” - “My Music”.

Here you can see that the copied files have normal “megabit” sizes.

Of course, modern players have their own means of copying mp3 from protected disks. Moreover, for example, in Windows 10 the standard player is completely different.

As an example: popular VLC media player

In the top menu, select “Media” - “Open capture device” (or the key combination Ctrl + C).

Unfortunately, the files were copied in the Windows wma format, which is not loaded into Liru’s posts. But we have an old friend - Format Factory program, which very quickly and efficiently transcodes wma to mp3. Just select “Audio” - “All in mp3” from the menu and drag wma files into the program window.

Greetings! Although CDs are no longer in fashion, because they are being intensively squeezed out by flash drives, I still decided to write an article today about how to copy an entire DVD/CD to a computer or other CD. I think many people will find this instruction interesting and useful. We will copy the contents of the disks using the UltraIso program, thanks to which you can create disk images, write them to flash drives, hard drives, CDs, etc. The program is easy to learn and at the same time functional, so we will use it to copy disks .

Note: You can copy the contents of a disk to a computer and then write it to a blank disc using standard operating system tools. However, if you copy the contents of the boot disk in this way and write it to a new blank disk, the new media will not be bootable.

How to copy DVD/CD to computer

If UltraISO is not installed on your computer, then download and install it first. So, first of all, insert the disc into the DVD-ROM drive. Afterwards we launch the UltraISO program,

Now we need to click on the "Create CD image" button

The image creation window will open, where we need to specify the main parameters. First of all, let’s check whether the correct drive is selected, then indicate the location on the computer where you want to save the disk image (for example, I chose the Desktop). Click the "Make" button

The process of creating a disk image will begin,

When finished, you will see a window like this:

Click no.

The disk image is successfully created and saved on the local disk.

How to copy a DVD/CD to another CD

Using the method described above, we saved the disk image to the computer. Now if you want to make a copy of the disk, you need to burn this image to a blank CD/DVD disk. Well, let's get started.

Insert a blank disc into the drive. Now let’s open the previously created disco image in *.iso format,

Now on the panel we find the “Burn CD image” button and click on it,

The Burn Image window will then open. Select the CD burning speed and click the "Burn" button.

The disc will begin burning, you can occupy yourself for 10-15 minutes. Upon completion, remove the disk and check. It's as simple as that copy DVD disc to another.

Dear friends, let's talk about how to copy music from a disk to a computer. Before moving on to this topic, you need to know that music on a disc can be recorded in several ways.

The first is recording mp3 files, like any other documents. With this method, there are no problems with copying music to your computer. Simply open the disk on your computer, select the files and copy them to the desired folder on your computer. Everything is very simple.

The second method is to record music onto an audio CD with copy protection. Such discs usually contain no more than 20 songs in good quality. Songs from such a disc cannot simply be selected and copied; only the shortcuts will be copied. That is, such songs will not be listened to in the future. Therefore, next we will talk about how to copy a CD to a computer.

We install the disk in the drive and start it. To do this, go to “My Computer” - “Devices with Removable Storage” and double-click on the disk icon.

The disc will start in Windows Media Player. In the upper right corner, click on the “Switch to library” icon. Let's go to the library.

In the window that opens, you can change the parameters of the copied files from the disk, namely:

  • specify the folder to which the files will be copied;
  • select the format of the copied files, for example mp3, WMA, WAV;
  • change the quality of audio tracks, the better the quality, the larger the volume of the audio file.

After making changes, click the “Apply” button and close the window.

We return to the library again and in the top menu click “Copy to CD”. Here you can select the tracks that you want to copy or copy everything.

Now we get to the “CD Copy Options”. Here you need to select the two lower positions and click the “OK” button.

The copying process will be displayed in the library as a green bar opposite the track. The copying speed depends on the selected quality of music files.

In this way, you can copy music from a disk to a computer in Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 without installing additional programs, but using the operating system itself.

Programs for copying music

In addition to the method described above, there are many free programs with which you can easily transfer music from a disk to a computer. Let's look at the most popular ones.

Accord CD Ripper Free is a free program for copying audio CDs to MP3 or WAV files. The program itself has an English interface, but the code is quite simple.

— free converter of audio and video files. To record audio files from an CD, just insert the disc into the drive and select “Audio” in the left sidebar, then select the format to which you want to convert the files. We make additional settings and copy. Let's enjoy the music.

- free converter of audio tracks from a CD to MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA or WAV (lossless audio) format.

As you can see, there are many options, choose the one that suits you best and get to work!
