Download the song creation app. The best programs for creating music. Beat making software: what a musician needs

As it turns out, you can now create music not only in a DAW program, but also on some online resources that are equipped with samples and loops. 2018 update:

The relevance of online services is growing and the number of available platforms is increasing. This still does not allow you to do high-quality work purely on the side of the Internet resource, but for beginners, drafts and just “playing”, they will be quite enough! +6 more sites to add to your collection!

6.

Programs for composing music on a computer are mostly intended for professionals and have all the necessary functionality to create a real masterpiece. But among them there are also those that give beginners the opportunity to learn something for themselves in order to subsequently move on to more complex ones. From this it turns out that the best program for writing music, whether Russian or foreign, is different for everyone, it all depends on the level and abilities. This article lists the most common and noteworthy programs.

PreSonus Studio One Pro

PreSonus Studio One Pro runs on both Windows and X Mac operating systems. Within its capabilities is functionality that allows you to both record audio and perform audio mastering. You can also work with MIDI data.

The advantage of this music writing program is that it is suitable for both beginners and real pros. For the former, it does not have an abundance of settings that confuse novice users who open an unfamiliar program for the first time; for the latter, it has everything necessary for actually writing music on a computer.

Studio One appeared relatively recently, and although it was released by the foreign company PreSonus, this program for writing music in Russian is already available. There is also a Russian manual for it.

Among the supported plugins, in addition to the common ReWire, AU and VST, there is also a new VST3. Native Effects Suite plugins are included exclusively from the developer, allowing you to use a wide variety of effects. It is important that all of the above options are available in double precision.

FL Studio

But FL Studio, on the contrary, has been on the market for a long time and has acquired many fans who sincerely believe that a better program for writing music on a computer cannot be found. Previously, the product was called Fruity Loops (in honor of the hero of the movie "Hackers"). It supports VST/DX plugins, records on multiple tracks at once, and works with MIDI data in advanced mode. This allows you not to stop at one direction of music, but to work with completely different genres and styles. Export of finished files is possible in MP3, MIDI, WAV and OGG.

However, FL Studio is not very suitable for beginners who are just choosing programs for writing music and are looking for a powerful, but understandable one. The interface of this product, although not entirely complicated, still has many pitfalls and features that are useless for a beginner.

FL Studio comes in seven editions, including express, demo and mobile versions. Many of the plugins that this software product works with are also available as separately released applications.

As of January last year, forty-two plug-in generators were used in the program. However, it is worth considering that not all of them are provided to the user in full - some work only as demo versions.

Adobe Audition CC

Adobe Audition CC (formerly called Cool Edit Pro) is an audio recording and editing program. Manufacturers position it as a product for professional work with sound.

The latest version of the program from the Creative Cloud line has received expanded functionality: in addition to the basic features, automatic audio alignment, replacement of sound with studio sound (and with synchronization), and work with adjacent clips and tracks have been added.

Adobe Audition CC has a simple, intuitive interface. Like all programs of this company, the licensed version can be purchased on the official website, and to work with it in Russian you need to install a separate cracker. Disadvantage of the program: to use it you need a computer with sufficient power, otherwise the computer begins to freeze. This is a problem with all Adobe products, with the possible exception of PDF Reader. Also, the program is released only in a 64-bit version. The latest (eighth) re-release of Adobe Audition CC to date was in June 2015.

MAGIX Samplitude Music Studio

The name of this program for writing music is really telling. MAGIX Samplitude Music Studio is the lightest and at the same time quite functional studio.

The latest version of the product - 2016 - was released recently. Unfortunately, there is no localization for it yet, but the previous ones are also presented in a multilingual format.

MAGIX Samplitude Music Studio has many advantages: it supports a huge number of audio formats, is compatible with most operating systems and allows you to publish your recorded masterpiece online by importing it directly from the application. The number of built-in special effects and tools is simply amazing. The overall good impression of the program is supported by the guitar and bass amplifiers.

MAGIX Samplitude Music Studio 2016 provides users with nineteen virtual instruments and 24-bit/96 kHz studio recording quality. Keeping up with her "colleagues", she also works with several tracks. MIDI data in the new version has been supplemented with MIDI-Learn, and control has become possible with MAGIX Audio Remote.

Cakewalk SONAR

Another “monster” presented on the market of software products for composing music. Cakewalk SONAR is famous for the fact that it can be used to create really high-quality mixes. That is why the product has long been used by professional DJs to create sets and their own compositions.

But Cakewalk SONAR attracts not only experts in its field: thanks to its intuitive interface and extensive functionality, more and more beginners are choosing this program to write music on a computer.

The product has many unique components, and with each new version SONAR improves its brainchild more and more. On the Internet you can find both English and Russian versions of Cakewalk SONAR. They are all available for download.

Linux MultiMedia Studio

A free analogue of synthesizer programs, available for Linux and Windows. Like most products made for Linux, it has the advantage of availability and quality, and also does not “load” the computer and OS.

Linux MultiMedia Studio is called an analogue of FL Studio. But we can say that this is a full-fledged multifunctional program for writing music. The Russian version of the product is publicly available, just like the English one - finding it is not difficult.

LMMS works seamlessly with multiple audio tracks and reads most audio formats. It is possible to use LADSPA plugins, and effects can be applied to any instruments, even drums.

Attention should be paid to sound synthesizers - their implementation in this software product is simply excellent.

Making music is a painstaking process and not everyone can do it. Some people are musically literate and know notes, while others simply have a good ear. For both the former and the latter, working with programs that allow you to create unique compositions can be equally difficult or easy. You can avoid inconveniences and surprises in your work only by choosing the right program for such purposes.

Most music production software solutions are called digital audio workstations (DAWs) or sequencers. Each of them has its own characteristics, but also has a lot in common, and which specific software solution to choose is primarily determined by the needs of the user. Some of them are aimed at beginners, others at professionals who know a lot about their business. Below we will look at the most (deservedly) popular programs for creating music and help you decide which one to choose to solve certain problems.

This is a software recording studio that is absolutely free, and this could not affect the functionality. She has only two instruments in her arsenal - a drum machine and a synthesizer, but each of them is equipped with a large library of sounds and samples, with the help of which you can create high-quality music in various genres and process it with effects in a convenient mixer.

NanoStudio takes up quite a bit of space on your hard drive, and even those who have encountered this kind of software for the first time can master it. One of the key features of this workstation is the availability of a version for mobile devices on iOS (iPhone, iPad), which makes it not so much an all-in-one tool, but a good tool for creating simple sketches of future compositions, which can later be finalized in more professional programs.

Magix Music Maker

Unlike NanoStudio, Magix Music Maker contains many more tools in its arsenal and provides significantly wider opportunities for creating music. This program is paid, but the developer gives you 30 days to familiarize yourself with the functional features of your brainchild. The basic version of Magix Music Maker contains a minimum of tools, but new ones can always be downloaded from the official website.

In addition to synthesizers, a sampler and a drum machine, with the help of which anyone (and able) can play and record their own melody, Magix Music Maker also has a large library of ready-made sounds and samples, from which it is also very convenient to create your own music. The NanoStudio described above does not have such an opportunity. Another nice bonus of MMM is that the interface of this product is completely Russified, and only a few programs presented in this segment can boast of this.

Mixcraft

This is a workstation of a qualitatively new level, which provides ample opportunities not only for working with sound, but also with video files. Unlike Magix Music Maker, in Mixcraft you can not only create unique music, but also bring it to studio-quality sound. For this purpose, there is a multifunctional mixer and a large set of built-in effects. Among other things, the program has the ability to work with notes.

The developers equipped their creation with a large library of sounds and samples, added a number of musical instruments, but decided not to stop there. Mixcraft also supports Re-Wire applications that can be connected to this program. In addition, the functionality of the sequencer can be significantly expanded thanks to VST plug-ins, each of which individually represents a full-fledged instrument with a large library of sounds. With such wide capabilities, Mixcraft puts forward minimal requirements for system resources. This software product is completely Russified, so every user can easily understand it.

Sibelius

Unlike Mixcraft, which has a notation tool as one of its features, Sibelius is a product entirely focused on creating and editing notation scores. This program allows you to create not digital music, but its visual component, which only then results in live sound.

This is a professional workstation for composers and arrangers, which simply has no analogues or competitors. An ordinary user who does not have a musical education and does not know sheet music will not be able to work in Sibelius, and he is unlikely to need it. But composers who are accustomed to creating music, so to speak, in a notebook, will clearly be delighted with this product. The program is Russified, but, like Mixcraft, it is not free; it is distributed by subscription with monthly and annual payments. However, given the uniqueness of this workstation and its user audience, it is clearly worth the money.

FL Studio

FL Studio is a professional solution for creating music on your computer, one of the best of its kind. The program has a lot in common with Mixcraft, except perhaps for the ability to work with video files, but this is not needed here. Unlike all the programs described above, FL Studio is a workstation that is used by many professional producers and composers, but even beginners can easily master it. Right after installation on your PC, FL Studio has a huge library of studio-quality sounds and samples, as well as a number of virtual synthesizers with which you can create a real hit. In addition, it supports the import of third-party sound libraries, of which there are a lot for this sequencer. It also supports connecting VST plugins, the functionality and capabilities of which cannot be described in words.

FL Studio, being a professional DAW, provides the musician with endless possibilities for editing and processing sound with effects. The built-in mixer, in addition to a set of its own instruments, supports third-party VSTi and DXi formats. This workstation is not Russified and costs a lot of money, which it more than justifies. If you want to create really high-quality music and, which is welcome, also make money from it, FL Studio is the best solution for realizing the ambitions of a musician, composer or producer.

SunVox

SunVox is a sequencer that's hard to compare to other music production software. It does not require installation, does not take up space on your hard drive, is Russified and is distributed free of charge. It would seem like an ideal product, but everything is far from what it might seem at first glance.

On the one hand, SunVox has many tools for creating music, on the other hand, all of them can be replaced with one plugin from FL Studio. The interface and operating principle of this sequencer will be understood more by programmers than by musicians. The sound quality is somewhere between NanoStudio and Magix Music Maker, which is very far from studio quality. The main advantage of SunVox, in addition to free distribution, is the minimum system requirements and cross-platform: you can install this sequencer on almost any computer and/or mobile device, regardless of its operating system.

Ableton Live

Ableton Live is an electronic music production program that has many similarities to FL Studio, being superior in some ways and inferior in others. This is a professional workstation used by industry names like Armin Van Bouren and Skrillex. In addition to creating music on your computer, this DAW provides ample opportunities for live performances and improvisation.

If in the same FL Studio you can create studio-quality music in almost any genre, then Ableton Live is aimed primarily at the club audience. The set of tools and the principle of its operation are appropriate. It also supports the export of third-party libraries of sounds and samples, there is support for VST, but the range of such is noticeably poorer than that of the aforementioned FL Studio. As for live performances, Ableton Live simply has no equal in this area, and the choice of world stars confirms this.

Traktor Pro

Traktor Pro is a product for club musicians that, like Ableton Live, provides powerful capabilities for live performances. The only difference is that Traktor is aimed at DJs and allows you to create mixes and remixes, but not unique musical compositions.

This product, like FL Studio and Ableton Live, is also actively used by audio professionals. In addition, this workstation has a physical counterpart - a device for DJing and live performances, similar to a software product. And the developer of Traktor Pro - Native Instruments - does not need a presentation. Those who create music on a computer know very well what merits belong to this company.

Adobe Audition

Most of the programs described above provide the ability to record audio to one degree or another. So, for example, in NanoStudio or SunVox you can record what the user plays on the go, using built-in tools. FL Studio allows you to record from connected devices (MIDI keyboard, as an option) and even from a microphone. But in all these products, recording is just an additional feature. If we talk about Adobe Audition, it should be noted that its tools are focused exclusively on recording, sound processing and mixing.

Adobe Audition can create CDs and do video editing, but that's just a small bonus of its functionality. This product is used by professional sound engineers, and to some extent it is a program for creating full-fledged songs. Here you can load a track-by-track instrumental composition from FL Studio, record a vocal part, and then mix everything using the built-in tools for working with sound or third-party VST plugins and effects, which, of course, are also supported.

Just as Photoshop from Adobe is a leader in working with images, Adobe Audition has no equal in working with sound. This is not a tool for creating music, but a comprehensive solution for creating full-fledged studio-quality musical compositions and any other audio content. This software is used in many professional recording studios.

Sequencer

Which one is the best best music creation software in the world? We asked a lot of questions to the “veterans” of electronic music. “What is the best program for creating music?” Fortunately, we received many probabilistic answers that depended on the user's musical style (direction), the order in which you prefer to work, budget, experience with music software, and even your preference for graphical metrics.

Of course, many things have changed significantly in music production software over the past year.

One of the brightest events is Ableton Live, which blurred the boundaries between such concepts as the studio paradigm and concert reality. We now have a new studio for the future. Pro Tools has updated to version 11 and Logic X quietly continues to receive good reviews.

Thus, we leave a list of 15 programs for creating electronic music that are available in 2016.

1. Ableton Live

It started out in 2001 but has been able to become a really strong player in the competitive audio market in the last seven or eight years. Our understanding has changed, and this has happened fundamentally about DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). There was an old line between a production studio and dj tools, but in recent years many manufacturers have begun to create their own versions of these programs, including those with automatic adjustments, that is, this means that we can create entire tracks from tape in real time.

2. Biting Studio

When this miracle was released, many people went into a frenzy; it was a completely new program that was ready, as they say, to enter into battle with its direct competitors. This product was a logical correction of all the inaccuracies and ambiguities that existed before its release. It should be noted that it was created by Ableton developers. So far we couldn't find any differences in their actual code. Although there is the presence of many new innovative solutions. We recommend you the beta version.

3. Image-Line FL Studio

This product can be said to be the most exported among other similar products. This work has a rather different origin, although there are many innovations in it, for example, the presence of many new plugins and tools that will help you approach your work more comprehensively. It has also become very easy and accessible to the user.

PC only

4. Cakewalk Sonar X3

One of the earliest products in its modern presentation, as for the date, it is 1987. Many steps were made in 2007, namely, new plugins, functions and other features became available that make it easier to work with this software. In addition, it became possible to integrate it with other programs, which is certainly a big plus.

5. Apple Logic Pro X

Another product that is more affordable than the others. It was created relatively recently. Many new plugins, effects and extensions have been added to it and what distinguishes it from other programs is that it is very convenient to add additional extensions and effects to it if you find them not enough with the basic settings. We can also attribute this fact to a big plus. And all this taken together makes this program truly professional.

Mac only

6. Steinberg Cubase

Another original program was also a great innovation in the field of music programs. What makes it unique is that it is relatively simple compared to other products. However, at the same time, Cubase has a large set of extensions, effects and plug-ins. This product is a kind of compromise between simplicity and professionalism of the program.

7. Steinberg Nuendo

This familiar product is mainly suitable for those who use Cubase. It is very suitable as a tool for audio design and editing various parameters. A lot of people used this product several years ago, but recently there has been a downward trend in demand for this product. But to your attention, despite this, this decision represents a truly big step in the area we are considering.

8. Sony ACID PRO

Its main advantage is its ease of use and therefore it is also a very popular product. It is intended for those who do not like to do difficult work while torturing themselves. The purpose of its creation was to ensure its comfortable use. Again, it is very popular among sound editors whose budget is limited.

9. Avid Pro Tools

This work is truly large, probably even the largest in the industry we are considering. The fact is that it is mainly used by professionals in their field and this is due to the fact that it has a lot of different plugins and extensions, but in turn it is more complex than the products we have previously reviewed. Therefore, this program, we repeat, is the privilege of masters.

10. Propellerhead Reason

Many users of this program claim that, despite its relative complexity and complexity, it does not include as many extensions and plugins as was observed in previous products. But it contains other useful functions, such as creating a virtual studio. And also using this program. You can easily check the status of the entire system. That is, on the one hand, it is complex, but there are very useful functions, although there are not many of them.

11. Presnous Studio One

This software was previously a very popular audio interface. It was quite aesthetic and ergonomic. An update was released in 2010. Many users called this innovation regressive, since this version of the program was no longer ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing. Although many people who are accustomed to it continue to use it, despite all its shortcomings.

12. Motu Digital Performer

This software allows each user to choose the rhythm and style of work that he prefers. That is, it allows you to customize the program as much as possible, which certainly makes working with this software easier, and we consider this a plus. But there is one significant drawback that is worth mentioning: a slight slowdown of the computer system. But despite this, she is in demand.

13. Magix Samplitude Pro X

This program is, in our opinion, the simplest among all those we have already reviewed. But at the same time, it is distinguished by the presence of all the basic plugins, extensions and tools that are necessary for fruitful work.

14. Acoustica Mixcraft Pro Studio

Already from the name of this software it is clear that it is a complex tool. But at the same time, it opens up the widest possibilities for the user. The great thing about it is that it can easily integrate with other software. It is also necessary to note the high ratings among other programs.
