How to find out the name of an acer laptop. How to find out the laptop model: where to see the exact modification. Where can I find out the exact information about the hardware in the BIOS?

Hello friends, glad to see you on our blog moicom.ru. In this article I will tell you and clearly show you how to find out the laptop model.

In the last issue, we learned how to take a screenshot of the screen in a couple of clicks. Today we’ll talk about laptops, how to determine their model and main characteristics.

Let's find out the model

Advanced computer users probably know how to do this, but there are also people who do not know this. So, especially for you, I decided to write this article on how to determine the laptop model.

A short outline of the article:

  • Packaging and documents,
  • Front or back panels and stickers,
  • Under the battery (battery),
  • View in BIOS,
  • Computer properties,
  • Command line,
  • Msinfo32 System Information
  • DirectX Diagnostic Tool,
  • Aida64 and Everest programs.

Let's start in order from the very beginning.

Packaging and documents

Few people leave or store packaging and documents from laptops, but warranty cards are saved more often. If you still have packaging or documents from your computer, you can look through them. If you still have a warranty card, then the laptop model is also written on it.

If you have neither packaging, nor documents, nor a warranty card, then I suggest considering the following options.

Front or back panels and stickers

On Asus laptops, a sticker with the model and main characteristics is usually affixed to the front.

On laptops from Fujitsu-Siemens or simply Fujitsu, you can find the name of the series line of personal computer models.

For example, in the Lifebook line, this designation can be seen in the upper left corner of the laptop. Also, on some models of other brands, the series and model are written in the corner or side of the case.

Look carefully at your laptop; if you are now reading this material from a laptop computer, you may find the letters and numbers of the series or model of your computer.

We look under the battery (battery)

Usually, the model and other data of the laptop from HP, Asus and Acer are written on the case under the battery and on the battery itself.

I'll give an example on an Asus laptop.

As you may have noticed, this inscription appears on the battery in two places, on the front and where the contacts are.

View laptop model in BIOS

Finding out your laptop model through the BIOS is probably one of the fastest and easiest ways. Unless, of course, you have a BIOS password that you don’t know. If you don’t have it, then you can safely use this method.

To do this, when you turn on the computer, you need to press the and buttons several times. If you have an HP (Hewlett-Packard) computer, then in order to get into the BIOS you need to press a key.

Go to the Advanced or Info tab and look at the model of your computer.

Computer properties

You can use the My Computer shortcut on your desktop or through the Start > Computer menu. Previously, I already wrote how to find out the characteristics of a computer.

Go to Computer >>> Properties >>> Performance counters and tools >>> Display and print detailed information about computer and system performance.

After that, the Additional information about your computer window will open in front of you, in which you can view the information you are interested in, as well as print this page.

Command line or CMD

You can also view the computer model through the command line; to do this, press the key combination + enter and press Enter. If you want to know more about keyboard buttons and make the most of them, then I recommend reading the article Windows 7 Hot Keys.

In the black window that appears, you need to enter the combination and press Enter.

After which you should see the message Name and the model of your laptop. Here's an example:

C:\Users\User>wmic csproduct get name Name

LIFEBOOK AH530 - this inscription is the model of your laptop.

Msinfo32 System Information

You can use another convenient tool to view system information. To do this, call up the Run + window again and enter.

A system information window will open in front of you, which will list a large list. Starting from the name of your operating system, version and ending with the swap file.

DirectX Diagnostic Tool

There is another way to see a description of your laptop using DirectX diagnostic tools. To do this, open the Run window again + and enter.

This program will help you obtain detailed information about installed components and drivers.

Aida64 and Everest programs

If you want to get extensive information about the characteristics of your computer, you can use separate third-party programs. I'm used to working with Everest, I use Aida64 less often. Of course, there are other programs, but I will not touch on them in this review.

Everest and Aida64 are similar utilities, they have almost the same functionality and interface, only the names are different.

Finding out the laptop model: ten available ways

To prevent compatibility problems when replacing components or connecting new equipment, you need to know the laptop model. Below we will discuss several proven methods, thanks to which the question of how to find out a laptop model will no longer be difficult for you.

Laptop case, stickers, battery

There is little hope for laptop packaging or any documents - usually all this is thrown away immediately after purchasing a laptop. But if you still have the instruction manual, you can look in it for information about the laptop.

A more realistic way is to find stickers on the front or bottom of the laptop. They contain complete information about the device, including manufacturer, series and model. For example, Acer Aspire 5745G.

If the stickers are torn off the case, then try to look at the model on the laptop battery. Turn it over and look for two latches (maybe one). Move them to the open position and remove the cover to remove the battery. The battery will be marked with the manufacturer (for example, HP or DNS), as well as the series and model.

Using software

If the information you are interested in is not indicated either on the case or on the battery, then you can resort to software methods for determining the exact model of the laptop. Let's try to do this via the command line:

Your laptop model will appear in the Windows interpreter window - all you have to do is rewrite it or remember it. If you are not comfortable with the command line or just want to double-check the information, look at your laptop model in the “System Information” window.

The manufacturer line indicates a specific brand - Sony Vaio, Dell, Lenovo. The model is indicated in numbers and Latin letters. Here you need to be careful: within a series, laptop models may differ by one sign.

Since we're going through system utilities, let's not ignore the DirectX diagnostic tool. Despite the implicit relationship to the issue of determining the laptop model, you can also find all the necessary information here:

These are proven options that work on laptops from all manufacturers, be it the common Samsung or the rarer MSI. There are other ways: for example, sometimes information about a laptop is pinned in the “System Properties” section. To open it:

Note: This method does not work on all laptops. For example, Asus with Windows 10 installed does not contain such information in the system properties.

Another option is to look at the information about the laptop in the BIOS. Restart your laptop and press Del (maybe another key) until the Basic Input/Output System window appears. There should be an “Info” tab, inside which basic information about the device is indicated.

Computer health monitoring utilities

Information about the laptop provides various programs for measuring temperature and other indicators of the device’s operation. For example, you can use the HWMonitor utility.

The line will indicate the laptop manufacturer (HP, Lenovo) and its model. You can double-check the data using the AIDA64 program. Although it is a paid utility, it has a trial period (30 days), which is enough to determine the laptop model.

There are a lot of programs that provide detailed information about your computer; you can look up the laptop model in any system monitoring utility. By the way, after receiving the necessary information, you should not delete these programs - use them to constantly be aware of the temperature of the processor and video card.

How to find out the model of a laptop (workstation)

The methods described below will help you find out the model of your laptop, workstation, or computer motherboard.

Why do you need the exact model name or part number?

Part number or exact model name is used to search for drivers or compatible components on the manufacturer’s website.

Model and modification

Computer manufacturers rarely release one modification of a specific laptop model. As a rule, several product modifications are produced in the same body. The most expensive modification may have a powerful processor, for example, Core i7, 8GB of RAM and a powerful video adapter from nVidia. And the most budget one can be equipped with a low-power Celeron, two gigabytes of RAM and an integrated video adapter from Intel. At the same time, externally the devices will look exactly the same.

At the same time, many manufacturers indicate only the product line on the front of the product. For example Asus 500 Series. Or HP Pavilion DV6000. However, it is extremely important for the user to know the exact model in order to download the necessary drivers. And the exact name of the model or its part number is contained on the bottom of the product: for example, Pavilion DV6125.

In the case of HP, the term Notebook Model refers to the name of the model. And the Product Number (also known as part number, part number, product number, product code) is a unique identifier of the product, which serves to indicate a modification.

Where to find the model name of a laptop (workstation)

1. On the bottom of the laptop

Turn off your laptop. Turn it over and place it on a soft cloth to avoid scratching the top cover. In most cases, information about the model and modification is contained on the bottom cover of the product:

2. Under the battery or on the battery

Turn off your laptop. Wait until the noise from the cooling system and hard drive stops. After this, remove the battery. In our case, the model and part number were found on the laptop case under the battery:

3. Using the command line

Enter the command:

wmic csproduct get name

Press Enter:

If you run this command on a desktop computer, you will get either the name (if it is a branded workstation) or the motherboard model:

As you can see, in the case of the computer, we received the exact model of the motherboard. But in the case of the laptop, we only learned the general name of the series and this information is not enough for us to search for drivers. Therefore, the command line will not always solve this problem.

4. In BIOS

Enter BIOS.

Different laptops may contain model data in different sections. Typically, they are called Main or System information.

This is what the BIOS of the HP G62 laptop looks like:

And this is what the BIOS of the older HP Compaq nx6310 looks like:

5. Using software

The model and modification of a computer (laptop, netbook) can also be found out using special utilities. AIDA64 is ideal for such purposes.

Launch the AIDA64 program.

Open path:

Computer => DMI => System

Example No. 1. We launch the AIDA64 program on the laptop.

The Product field displays only the basic laptop model - the HP G62 Notebook PC, which we already know. But in the SKU# field we see the part number XU610EA#ACB, which is enough to fully identify the device on the manufacturer’s website:

Example No. 2. Desktop.

Having launched the program on a desktop computer, we see the motherboard model in the Product field, because The system unit is not branded.

6. On the package

If you still have the packaging from your laptop, find it and try to find information about the model and components on it. Very often, such technical information is printed on a white sticker or a white rectangle at the end of the package.

conclusions

The most accurate information about the model and modification of laptops can be obtained from the BIOS and special AIDA64 software.

How to find out your laptop model

Hello.

In some cases, it may be necessary to know the exact model of the laptop, and not just the manufacturer ASUS or ACER, for example. Many users are confused by such a question and cannot always accurately determine what is required.

In this article I want to focus on the simplest and fastest ways to determine a laptop model, which will be relevant no matter what manufacturer your laptop is (ASUS, Acer, HP, Lenovo, Dell, Samsung, etc. - relevant for everyone) .

Let's consider several ways.

1) Documents upon purchase, passport for the device

This is an easy and quick way to find out all the information about your device, but there is one big “BUT”...

In general, I am against determining any characteristics of a computer (laptop) by those “pieces of paper” that you received in the store along with it. The fact is that sellers often confuse and may give you papers for another device from the same model range, for example. In general, where there is a human factor, an error can always creep in...

In my opinion, there are even simpler and faster ways to determine the laptop model without any paperwork. About them below...

2) Stickers on the device body (side, back, battery)

The vast majority of laptops have stickers with various information about the software, device characteristics and other information. Not always, but often this information includes the device model (see Fig. 1).

Rice. 1. Sticker on the device body - Acer Aspire 5735-4774.

By the way, the sticker may not always be in a visible place: it is often on the back wall of the laptop, on the side, or on the battery. This search option is very relevant when the laptop does not turn on (for example), and you need to determine its model.

3) How to view the device model in the BIOS

In general, many points can be clarified or configured in the BIOS. The laptop model is no exception. To enter the BIOS, you need to press the function key after turning on the device, usually F2 or DEL.

How to enter BIOS on a laptop or computer: http://pcpro100.info/kak-voyti-v-bios-klavishi-vhoda/

Entering the BIOS on a LENOVO laptop: http://pcpro100.info/how-to-enter-bios-on-lenovo/ (there are some pitfalls).

Rice. 2. Laptop model in BIOS.

After you enter the BIOS, just pay attention to the “Product name” line (Main section - i.e. main or main). Most often, after entering the BIOS, you don’t even need to go to any additional tabs...

4) Via the command line

If Windows is installed on the laptop and it boots, then you can find out the model using the regular command line. To do this, you need to enter the following command in it: wmic csproduct get name, then press Enter.

Rice. 3. Command line - Inspiron 3542 laptop model.

5) Via dxdiag and msinfo32 in windows

Another simple way to find out the laptop model without resorting to any special information. software - use the system utilities dxdiag or msinfo32.

The operating algorithm is as follows:

1. Press the Win+R buttons and enter the dxdiag (or msinfo32) command, then the Enter key (example in Fig. 4).

Rice. 5. Device model in dxdiag

Rice. 6. Device model in msinfo32

6) Through special utilities to inform about the characteristics and status of the PC

If the above options do not suit you or are not satisfactory, then you can also use special ones. utilities in which you can find out, probably, any information about the installed hardware in your device.

There are many such utilities, some of them I cited in the following article: http://pcpro100.info/harakteristiki-kompyutera/#i

It probably doesn’t make much sense to dwell on each one. As an example, I will give a screenshot from the popular AIDA64 program (see Fig. 7).

Rice. 7. AIDA64 - summary information about the computer.

This concludes the article. I think the suggested methods are more than enough :) Good Luck!

How to find out the model of your laptop - the name through the command line, where possible, accurate and complete

Every user always faces the question of the model of his laptop. The reasons can be different: you need new software, you need to competently ask for advice on computer forums, or you need to take the device in for repair. To find out the exact laptop model, there are several simple ways.

The PC system code is contained in:

If you do not have access to your PC, or it is broken and you are afraid to touch it, then the best solution is to look for the name of your device in the instructions or on the box. The product system code is located directly on the front of the box or on the back of it, in the product description. If you are unable to find it, you should get all the documentation for your device and look there.

There is no need to look for the PC system code in the operating instructions - they review the entire product line at once, and the only thing you can extract from there is the product brand. You need to pay attention to the warranty card and other similar papers, where the full name of the model is indicated several times at once, all the nuances are included, the installed operating system, and so on. This paper will be useful if you try to return the device under warranty - do not throw it away.

If the first method did not help you, you do not have a box with instructions, feel free to move on to the next step.

Front Panel

If the laptop is left without documents, Modern laptops have a line on the front panel - the name and brand of the product. If you need the exact system code of the product, then this method will not work - only the general name of the model is indicated here, without a description of modifications, assembly versions, or year of manufacture.

Photo: laptop model sticker on the panel

The required line can be above the screen, below it, next to the touchpad, near the hot keys. Inspect all these places, and if you still cannot find the name of your device.

Looking under the battery

The last “manual” way to determine the model is to remove the battery. If you have never done this, carefully turn the device over and place it on a stable surface. Inspect the panel: at the top or bottom edge you will find a rectangular piece separated from the rest by a small cutout.

Pay attention to nearby buttons and levers - there should be signs nearby explaining the sequence of their presses. Push and pull them and then carefully remove the battery. Under it you will find many different icons and inscriptions, look among them.

This option will work in almost every case, unless the inscriptions are erased. In this case, the only option left is to look in the internal software.

Sometimes the name is contained in the factory stickers present on the bottom of the device. Inspect them, these decals rarely rub off due to the durability of the stickers. Sometimes, although very rarely, the stickers themselves come off. If this happens, you did not find any designations, you will have to find the device name through the laptop itself, or rather in the information contained in the system files.

How to find out your laptop model via the command line

The fastest way to find out the name of a laptop model is to enter the corresponding inscription in the command line.

To do this, you will need to do the following sequence of clicks:

If you need to find out not only the name of the device, but also its other characteristics and parameters, you need to use third-party software.

Programs

The Internet contains a huge number of utilities in order to find out a complete summary of the characteristics of your PC. Let's look at some of them:

EVEREST is one of the most common and convenient in this category; it shows all the properties of the PC, including installed software and drivers. EVEREST is paid, weight 10.6 MB.

CPU-z is a small utility that shows a summary of your device, the main advantages are fast scanning, fast installation and fast downloading. Of the minuses, it displays only basic information on the screen, without software and without drivers. CPU-z is free, weight 1.5 MB.

HWMonitor is a free utility that reads information about a PC. It is capable of reading data from sensors located on ventilation systems, the processor, etc. This allows the user to know the voltage, temperature of the main parts of the device. HWMonitor is free, weighs 1.1 MB.

SiSoftware Sandra Lite is a free utility for viewing information about a PC, the main feature of which is the ability to diagnose drivers and find errors in hardware. SiSoftware Sandra Lite is quite large, 66 MB, but is distributed free of charge.

As you can see, the choice is quite wide. From this list, select the program you like and install. Next, we will look at several of the most powerful programs in more detail.

Among them:

  • popular Everest;
  • new AIDA64;
  • Belarc Analysis complex.

Video: system information

Popular Everest

The Everest utility is available in two versions: Home and Ultimate edition. It can not only show the computer system code and the exact characteristics of all its components, but also help configure your device for the best operation.

If you see an error when opening the program, just run it as an administrator, this will solve all the problems.

To find out the device name, do the following chain of actions:

The full version includes additional modules such as system monitoring functions (visual indicators of the most important information about your computer), performance tests and other features. This version costs 1410 rubles, there is a free demo version. The utility is the most complete and widespread among many users. The PC information it provides goes on for hundreds of pages. More than enough for the average user.

The disadvantages include the difficulty of working with the latest systems, problems with installation on Windows 7 and 8. This is due to the cessation of support for the program from the developers. If you were unable to start the program, proceed to the next step.

New AIDA64

Another powerful utility is AIDA64, which is Everest updated for modern systems and computers. It costs money, but you can use a free demo that works for 30 days. The interface is identical to the previous program, so you will not have any additional difficulties.

To find out the name of your computer, just click the same sequence as in Everest - Computer → DMI → System → the line you need is located at the bottom of the window that opens. The advantages of this program compared to the higher one are that it works with modern systems and is supported by its developers.

Belarc Analysis complex

The latest utility is the Belarc Analysis complex, which, like the previous ones, will help you find out not only the full name of your device, but can also serve you well in diagnostics.

Once launched, it will automatically scan your computer and display all information about your device. You can find the name in the “System Model” section, which is located at the top of the window.

Details in BIOS

If your computer does not load the operating system, and you do not find any inscriptions on its surface, do not despair. The system loading screen will help you. For some models, the name is written when turned on - look at the inscriptions that appear when loading. If there is nothing there, you will have to enable the BIOS.

Different computers use different buttons to enter the BIOS. When you turn on the PC, you will see inscriptions at the bottom - pay attention to the signs F1, F12, delete, F8. Check the inscription following these keys - choose the one next to which there are the words BOOT, BIOS. Press the appropriate key on the keyboard. This needs to be done when the window with the inscriptions is on; when the windows logo appears, it is too late to do this.

There are a variety of BIOS versions available on PCs. But in each of them there is the name of the device. It can be either on the very first screen or on other tabs - click on the top inscriptions. Be careful! If you feel like you're doing something wrong, reboot.

Remember, this method is the most difficult and the most dangerous for the device. Use it as a last resort when others have not helped.

Welcome to my blog!
Sometimes a computer user is faced with the question: “How to find out the laptop model.”
This may be needed, for example, when you need to download drivers for it or find instructions for it. This may also be needed when replacing components, when purchasing a power supply for it or a battery.

In fact, there can be many reasons for knowing the model name of your laptop or netbook, and each user should be able to determine it independently. Even if you constantly use your laptop, after some time you simply forget which model you have and can only name the manufacturer.

There are a lot of ways to find out the markings of your laptop and some of them are the same as when determining the markings of your iron friend. So I recommend programs that will help you maintain this, as they may be useful to you in the future.

Please note that there is practically no universal option to find out the markings of your laptop; any of these options may not work. It depends on the condition of the laptop, its model and the programs we use. Even the most reliable method, this is marking on the laptop itself, may not help you if it is simply missing or if it is erased.

Therefore, I advise you to adopt several methods that you like best and use them. When writing this article, I tested these options on different laptops and on some one method worked, but on other models it was useless.
The article is divided into several points, from the simplest and most obvious to the more complex, choose any one and use it.

YOU CAN FIND OUT YOUR LAPTOP MODEL:

You can find out the laptop model by looking at the emblems or stickers on it.

The easiest and most obvious way to find out the laptop model is to look at its markings and the stickers that are located on the bottom of its case.

On some models, the marking is located on the front, on the side of the screen or on the panel with the keyboard; you just need to look at it carefully. But of course, such markings are not applied to all models, so keep in mind that they may not be there.

You can get more accurate information about your model if you turn it upside down and look carefully at the stickers that are on its bottom panel. On each laptop, the manufacturer leaves detailed information on a special sticker, so that after reading it you will get complete clarity about what model you have. An exception can only be for those models that simply did not have such a sticker for various reasons. Then you will have to use one of the options described below in the article.

You can also disconnect the battery and see if there is a sticker on the case underneath it; on some models the marking can be seen there.

Look at the instructions or the driver disk.

If you are the owner of a new laptop and carefully store all the documentation for it, then you are lucky, you can find out the markings of your model by reading this documentation.

Not all instructions may contain the name of your model, but in my case I was lucky and from the instructions for my laptop I can see which model I have.

A driver disk can also help you recognize the markings; if you have such a disk, look at it, maybe you will be lucky and you will read the name of your model on it.

Having looked at the sales receipt for the purchase of a laptop.

This method is more of an exception to the rule than normal advice, since not all users keep receipts of their purchases for several years.

I was lucky enough to have a laptop purchased in 2011; in 2016 I still have a receipt from this purchase, from which I can accurately determine the name of the model of your laptop. If you carefully keep all your receipts and warranty cards, look at them, they will help you find out the model of yours.

Using the BIOS you can find out the laptop model.

This method is far from universal, since not all laptops can read the model name in the BIOS, but it must be taken into account.

Go to the BIOS of your laptop and immediately on the first page, which is called “Information”, in the “Product Name” line you will see the name of your model. But I repeat, not all laptops have such information, it depends on your luck.

Please note that different laptop models display information about themselves differently when viewed in different programs.
The name of some models can be seen in the “Model” line, and the name of others in the “Version” line. This must be taken into account when viewing information in such programs and look at both lines.

Using the Windows command line.

Using the command line console, you can also find out the markings of some laptop models; let's look at two options for how this can be done.
Open the Windows command line by pressing the Win+R key combination and in the Run window, enter the command “cmd” without quotes. A command prompt window will open where you will need to enter the desired command.

The first command is:

wmic csproduct get name

Enter it and press “Enter”, after which you will see the name of your laptop model in the line below.
This command is difficult to remember, the next command is much easier to use. Enter the word in the console:

and press “Enter”, after which information about your system will appear in the console.

You need the “System Manufacturer” and “System Model” lines where you can find the information you need.

Just keep in mind that this method does not work on all computers, on some you will not see the name of the marking, for example, my Lenovo was not detected by this command, since it can be identified in the “Version” line, but Samsung was able to be identified, it is clearly visible in line “Model”.

Using the DirectX diagnostic program.

A standard Windows utility called dxdiag.exe can help you determine the model name of your laptop. When you run it on a desktop computer, it will show you the markings of your PC’s motherboard, and when you use it on a laptop, it already shows its markings.

Click on the “Start” button and enter the command in the search bar:

A window will open called “DirectX Diagnostic Tool”, with which we can find out the markings of our laptop.

Here you need to go to the “System” tab, where we are interested in only two lines:
“Computer manufacturer” – will indicate to us the name of the manufacturer’s company.
“Computer model” – its marking.
But keep in mind that this program cannot always show you the laptop model, only if it is visible to the program as a model, and not as a version.

How to find out the laptop model using programs that show information about the computer.

There are many programs that can help you get complete information about the contents of your computer, and some of these programs will help tell us what model our laptop is.
We will get acquainted with some of them in this article.

Using the Everest program.

The Everest program has been on users' computers for quite some time, and despite the fact that new versions of this utility have already appeared, it can still serve us and tell us what model of laptop we have.

http://www.lavalys.com/

To do this you need to do the following:
1. Open the program and in the “Menu” tab, select “Computer - DMI”.
2. In the right window of the program, open the “System” item, and at the bottom of the window look at the lines “Product” and “Version”, where you will see the name of your laptop model.

Using the PC Wizard program.

The next program with which you can find out the model name of your laptop is the PC Wizard information utility.

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html

Open the program and go to the “Hardware” section, selecting the “Motherboard” icon in it.

Here, in the right window of the program, go to the “Manufacturer” section and in the lower window, in the “Product” or “Version” line, you will see the name of your laptop model.

Using the AIDA64 program.

The AIDA64 program is an updated version of the same Everest and they are very similar in appearance and you can find out the markings of a laptop using this program.

http://www.aida64russia.ru

Download any version of the AIDA64 program and run it. The program is paid, but it won’t hurt us to get the information we need.

Just like in its previous version, go to the “Menu” tab and:
1. Open “Computer - DMI”.
2. In the right window, open the “System” tab, and in the lower window, in the “Product” or “Version” line, you will see the name of your laptop model.

Using the SiSoftware Sandra program.

The SiSoftware Sandra application is designed to diagnose and analyze computer components and with its help you can also find out the laptop model.

You can download the Belarc Advisor program from the link:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

When you launch the program, your system will be analyzed and its results will be shown in the browser.

To find out the characteristics of your laptop, you need to look at the “System Model” section, which is located at the top right of the program window.

Using the Windows utility – “System Information”.

Windows has a standard utility that shows the user information about your computer’s system, it’s called “msinfo32″ or simply “System Information”.
To open it, you just need to click the “Start” button and enter the name of the program in the search bar - “System Information”, Windows will find it and all you have to do is run the utility.

On the main window of the program you will see basic information about your computer and if you have a laptop, then in the lines “Manufacturer” and “Model” you will see information about its marking.

I have described only some programs that can be used to obtain information about your computer; in fact, there are many more. For example, the very popular CPU-Z utility can also show you the laptop markings in the “Motherboard” tab in the model line, but this does not work on all models.
I recommend using several options and programs for the test, since they all display information about the system differently and to find out for sure, it is better to try several options.
If you know any other ways to find out the laptop model, please write about them in the comments to this article.
Good luck!

Many users are faced with the need to determine the exact characteristics of the hardware on their own laptops. This raises the question: “How to determine the laptop model?” The situation is relevant in the following cases:

  • installing drivers - for new programs, viewing advanced sites with complex graphics, updating games;
  • earnings - the Rublik program works when the laptop is turned on, bringing income to the owner, however, you need to know the characteristics of the video card;
  • repair – service workers call customers asking for clarification of information when the information is not specified (incorrect), wasting time.

Most manufacturers of computer equipment practice their own product lines, and within each of them there is a division into series. Within each series, as a rule, there are several modifications. Thus, the “filling” of laptops of different models differs in configuration, the series already differ in appearance, the lines have fundamental differences in purpose.

Determining the model by manufacturer

Acer produces several products under different brands (Packard Bell, eMachines). The brand and all information are located above the barcode of the label, the catalog number is located below the barcode. In Toshiba laptops, repair services are interested in the top two positions (model, catalog number, respectively). On Dell laptops, the serial number is traditionally located under the barcode; if there is a second model label, its number is indicated separately on it.

Software method

I recommend this method to all owners who need to know how to determine the exact laptop model for service/repair organizations. The exact characteristics of the hardware will also help you avoid making mistakes with drivers. The CPU-Z program is deservedly considered the most popular, allowing you to find out information by section:

  • video card - volume, technical process, name, type, chip frequency
  • RAM – number of channels, frequency, volume, type
  • motherboard – interface, Bios version, chipset, model, manufacturer
  • processor - detailed information

The program is free, supported by hot keys, works under Windows and Android. The Everest program not only displays similar information, but also tests any laptop systems, evaluates speed, performance, and helps configure the laptop in detail.

The simplest way to obtain information is the utility built into the Windows OS. To do this you need to perform the following sequence of actions:

  • go to “Start”, we are interested in the bottom line with a blinking cursor
  • enter cmd, press Enter
  • in the new window enter wmic csproduct get name, confirm with Enter

The information is displayed in the same window and has the appearance shown in the photo.

These are the main ways to determine a laptop model; the choice of a specific option depends on the individual needs of the user. They are all simple, take 5–10 minutes, and eliminate mistakes.

Every year the growth rate of computer hardware productivity increases. In order to keep your PC in good shape, it needs to be upgraded from time to time. To avoid compatibility issues, you need to know what components are installed inside. And if this is very easy to do on a desktop computer, just open the case cover, then with laptops everything is a little more complicated. In order to get to some components, you will have to disassemble half of the gadget. As an alternative solution, you need to find out the laptop model and, using this information, determine what hardware the manufacturer installs inside. Today we will tell you how to find out the model of your laptop, regardless of the manufacturer.

How to find out your laptop model using markings: Acer, Asus, HP, Lenovo

The most proven method is to look at the information in the documentation that comes with the purchase of any laptop. As practice shows, the instruction manual is very often lost over time. But if you still have packaging from the gadget, you are guaranteed to find model data inside.

You can also look at the stickers that the developer applies. Most often they are located on the back of the device. They contain complete information about the device, including manufacturer, series and model. But this is not the only type of laptop marking. If for some reason the stickers are erased or the information on them is unreadable, then do not be upset. Try to find the model name on the laptop battery.

To do this, you will need to remove the battery by unlocking a special lock located on the edge of the battery. There can be two such clamps. If you don't see any latch, then the battery is hidden under the cover. It will have to be completely unscrewed with a screwdriver and removed. After this, remove the battery and turn it over. The manufacturer, series and model will be written on it on the reverse side.

How to see your laptop model: tools in Windows
