ASUS currently sells more motherboards than any other company. However, this number also includes rebranded products.

ASUS also produces various components for products of other corporations, including Sony (PlayStation 2), Apple Inc. (iPod, iPod Shuffle, MacBook), Alienware, Falcon Northwest, Palm, Inc., HP, and many other equipment manufacturers use ASUS motherboards in their systems (since 2008, all of the above products are manufactured at the production facilities of Pegatron Corporation).

Until 2014, ASUS occupied third place in the ranking of tablet manufacturers on the Russian market. However, in mid-2014, it lost it to the dynamically developing Lenovo.

history of the company

The fame of Asus as a global manufacturer of high-quality laptops is beyond doubt. However, compared to other electronic companies, Asus is still very young; it appeared on the high-end computer technology market quite recently - in 1989 on the island of Taiwan. The company was founded in 1989 by four former Acer engineers: TH Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, MT Liao.

The path to success was not easy, because at that time Taiwanese companies did not have access to the world market.
The company's initial goal was to produce chipsets. However, due to a lack of capacity and a special testing base, the company was forced to start producing motherboards.
After creating its own motherboard, the company submitted it to Intel's testing lab. Intel assessed the quality of the motherboard and signed a long-term agreement with Asus. Thus, Asus received recognition and access to the global market.
The company decided not to stop there and expanded the list of products. Optical drives and video cards were added to the list of manufactured products, and Hewlett-Packard was added to the list of strategic partners.
In the modern market community, Asus Corporation is known as a supplier of 3C class solutions (computers, communications, consumer electronics). In this case, communications means the production of ISDL equipment and DSL modems. In this market sector, Asus today occupies one of the leading positions in the world. This was achieved over the years and through the hard work of all employees of the Taiwanese company. The so-called consumer electronics include mobile phones, gadgets, and Asus laptops.
Over time, the range of products is expanding. Optical drives and video cards with the Asus logo on the case appear. Having concluded a successful contract with the world famous company Hewlett-Packard, the company begins to build servers. In 2001, Asus began producing servers only under its own name. In 2000 the world saw and Asus laptops.
Asus introduces its own proprietary technologies into its products:
Asus POST Reporter - technology created to inform the user about malfunctions by voice;
Asus EZ Flash - technology created for easy BIOS updating. The update occurs directly from its menu;
Asus Q-Fan - technology for controlling system cooling using thermal sensors, intelligently regulating the rotation speed of coolers;
Asus Color Shine - liquid crystal displays with “glass” properties and an anti-glare effect for the clearest picture;
Asus Splendid Video Enhancement - used in video playback and game graphics, improving the depth and intensity of colors in real time.

February 4, 2009 - An alliance between Garmin and ASUS was created to jointly develop mobile phones focused on LBS services.

In 2010, ASUSTeK Computer is gradually reducing its orders from a subsidiary of Pegatron, these plans correspond to the general development trend of the company to reduce Asustek's dependence on Pegatron Technology: in particular, we are talking about motherboards and graphics subsystems, the production of which can be transferred to Elitegroup Computer Systems ( English) (ECS). In the second half of 2010, Asustek will also begin placing orders with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Quanta Computer factories.

Since January 1, 2008, ASUSTeK has been producing products only under its own brand. The entire ODM business was transferred entirely to newly opened subsidiaries: Pegatron Corporation and Unihan Corporation.

ASUSTeK focuses on the production of products under its own brand - motherboards, laptops, smartphones, servers and communications equipment, as well as multimedia devices and consumer electronics. Pegatron is engaged in the production of computer cases and other devices, Unihan was created for the contract production of computer components.

In 2011, ASUS launched a tablet laptop on the market, thereby competing with Apple's iPad. The uniqueness of the ASUS tablet is that the “tablet” screen can work either stand-alone or together with a standard keyboard, thereby turning the gadget into a familiar laptop.

On December 21, 2016, the multifunctional home robot Zenbo, developed and produced by the company, was presented to the public in Taipei. The company announced that sales in Taiwan will begin on January 1, 2017.

ASUS Chairman Johnny Shih (Shi Chongtang) said at the event that developers and partners from various industries in Taiwan - including education, transportation, e-commerce, entertainment and professional cleaning - have collaborated with ASUS to expand areas using Zenbo with specific applications and features.

A collaboration with the National Police Agency of Taiwan (NPA) resulted in the development of an app for Zenbo that allows families to contact their local police station in an emergency and speak with an officer using the built-in video calling feature. NBO CEO Chen Guoen joined Johnny Shi on stage to demonstrate the app's capabilities.

The versatility of the Zenbo robot helps ensure the well-being of older family members. Zenbo monitors the home for emergencies such as falls and responds immediately by notifying listed close relatives via their smartphones.

On November 3, 2017, Asus announced the release of its first smartphone with an 18:9 display - Pegasus 4S.

Brand history

Initially, the Taiwanese company was named after the mythological winged horse - “Pegasus”. But then the entrepreneurs decided to cut off the first three letters from the name so that in all directories their company would be among the first - with an “a.” Currently, the full name of the company is “AsusTeK Computers Incorporated.” This is not surprising: what is it like in the modern market world without the prefix “Incorporated”?
There is another version of the appearance of the name of this brand.

In Chinese, ASUS sounds like hua shooo. The first word means “China” or “Chinese”, and the second means “big”, so the name eventually coined by the company’s founders can be translated as “Greater China”. But, one way or another, the company founded by TH Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and MT Liao soared high, like Pegasus, became not just big, but huge, and has been occupying the first place in the ratings of leaders in the global computer industry for several years now.

However, ASUSTek would not have reached its current heights if not for the lucky acquisition of Chen Shi, or Johnny Shi, as he is better known in the business world. It was with the arrival of this talented manager in the mid-1990s that the most successful stage in the company's development began.

Johnny Shih is one of the legendary figures in Taiwan. He joined ASUSTek in 1994 as CEO and soon became chairman of the company.
As Shi recalls, the business owners immediately set him a serious task - to stand on a par with the leaders in the production sector of not only motherboards, but also personal computers. It would seem that in an ultra-competitive market it was difficult to stand out from the crowd by offering consumers an original idea. But Johnny Shih found a solution that, according to him, formed the basis of the company's future philosophy and led ASUSTek to victory.

According to the strategy of the new head of ASUSTek, she first had to concentrate on two components of the business: advanced technology and high quality products. And then it was planned to add speed of production and speed of service to these components. The company even developed its own “winning formula”, which was equal to the price of marketing (quality multiplied by speed, innovation and service) divided by cost.

“We realized that the only way to get to the top was by offering an outstanding product,” says Johnny Shea. “I tried to convey to the employees that we can only become the best enterprise in the world if we manage to exceed our own capabilities. I am sure that working to the limit of one’s own capabilities is the secret of our today’s success.”

Just three years after Shi took over the leadership, the company’s sales volume increased 12 times, profits increased by 20.

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs released a study on November 29, 2016, listing the top twenty most valuable international brands from Taiwan in 2016 by market value. The ASUS brand was recognized as the most valuable Taiwanese brand for the fourth year in a row.

Two ASUS laptops were selected for the astronauts by R&K, which is the main supplier of computers and electronics to the MIR orbital station. Both laptops performed flawlessly throughout the entire 600-day period.

According to Sergei Andreev, a Russian cosmonaut, ASUS laptops have never overheated, as happens with laptops operating in difficult temperature conditions. The fact is that heat flows in space and on Earth are different. And only a laptop with the best cooling system can withstand prolonged work in such conditions.

Another amazing story - ASUS laptops have also stood the test under operating conditions and at the lowest temperatures. On December 16, 2003, two famous climbers Shi Wang and Jin Li conquered the highest peak of Antarctica - Vinson Peak, whose height is 4897 m, and the ambient temperature drops to - 100 degrees. Fahrenheit (approx. 73.3 degrees Celsius). Both climbers had ASUS S200N laptops with them, which worked reliably throughout the trip, despite the truly extremely harsh weather conditions.

For 10 years in a row, Asus has been included in the list of the most successful IT companies InfoTech 100, published by the weekly Business Week.

On December 21, 2016, the multifunctional home robot Zenbo, developed and produced by the company, was presented to the public in Taipei.

At the press conference, 10 Zenbo robots sang and danced to create a festive New Year's atmosphere for the audience, and also demonstrated their various functions, such as "caring au pair", "security guard", "kitchen helper" and "family photographer". .

There is probably no or almost no person who has never heard the name Asus. This brand produces a lot of all kinds of products, such as smartphones, laptops, routers, modems, monitors, motherboards and much, much more. However, few people know about the history of this huge corporation and how it all began. Well, we need to fix this. Further in the article we will talk about how the brand was born, in what year it appeared, which country of origin Asus belongs to, and we will go through some of the company’s products.

Story

The company started in 1989. At that time, the computer industry was at the very center of development, and almost every day new companies appeared in the world, striving to take their place in the sun. Asus was formed in the Republic of China Taipei, or, as it is also called, Taiwan. Despite the fact that the Republic of China, Taiwan is still an independent state recognized throughout the world. But that’s not about that now.

At that time, everything that was produced from under the wing of the Celestial Empire was regarded very skeptically, and Chinese products were not very successful. Nevertheless, in 1989, on April 1, 4 young people from the famous company Acer decided to found their own corporation in one of the apartments. And they called it Asus, or to be more precise, Asustek Computer Inc. "Asus" is part of the word from PegASUS, which translated means "Pegasus - a horse with wings."

The main goal of the company at that time was consulting third-party manufacturers in Taiwan on the production of motherboards for computers. Unfortunately, the idea failed, and no one even wanted to listen to the guys. All local firms were quite happy with the fact that they were fulfilling orders from other more well-known manufacturers. Then, in the same year, the founders decided to take a rather bold step - to release their motherboard for the then newly launched Intel 80486 processor. It was this step that led the future computer giant to success.

The motherboard was created only based on available information about the processor and based on personal knowledge and experience. It didn’t take much time, and in the same 1989 the finished board was sent to the Intel technical laboratory.

Experts highly appreciated the finished work and recognized Asus as masters of their craft. From that very moment, close cooperation between the two companies began, which allowed Asus to gain not only global recognition, but also to transform from an ordinary company into a huge corporation.

Country of Origin: Asus

As was already said at the very beginning, the country in which the company’s products are manufactured is Taiwan. Actually, this is where the history of the corporation began. And although on the packaging or some stickers on products the country of origin of Asus is indicated as China, i.e. Made in China, this is where all the main production centers are concentrated.

In addition, Asus works very closely with third-party manufacturers who also produce their product. Such partners include Foxconn, Quanta Computer, Pegatron. And although the products come from third-party manufacturers whose factories are located in a slightly different location, Asus's manufacturing country is still Taiwan, and China will be indicated on the packaging.

There is also talk that the company has several factories in Mexico and the Czech Republic. But, at least, there has not yet been a single motherboard, monitor or smartphone on the packaging of which Mexico or the Czech Republic would be listed as the country of origin of Asus.

Products

Asus products have a very wide range. Under this brand, laptops, smartphones, motherboards, video cards, tablets, monitors, network equipment, peripherals and much more are produced. The list is extensive and could go on for a long time. The most popular, of course, are motherboards, laptops, especially the ROG gaming series, video cards and, more recently, smartphones.

Company smartphones

Asus has a separate line of smartphones called ZenPhone. There are quite a lot of models here, and they are all very well arranged in different price categories, which allows the user to choose the most suitable option for him. When buying an Asus phone, a person receives a high-quality and well-made device that provides maximum functionality and ease of use.

Laptops

Laptops that come out from under the wing of Asustek Computer Inc are always in great demand among consumers. This is roughly the same principle as with smartphones. There are budget models, mid-price models and, of course, expensive options. Laptops from the ROG (Republic Of Gamers) gaming line stand out. These models cost a lot of money, but the buyer also receives the filling corresponding to the price.

As a rule, ROG laptops are made of very high quality materials and top-end hardware, for example, Core i7 processors from Intel and a GTX 1050-1070 graphics card from Nvidia. Such a combination, even for a desktop computer, will cost a pretty penny, but here we offer a compact and stylish laptop that you can take with you anywhere and use it for all sorts of tasks.

Motherboards and video cards

Motherboards and video cards are especially popular among Asus. The main distinguishing feature of this product is its excellent workmanship. The highest quality components are used for them, including capacitors, transistors, terristors, microcircuits, etc.

Both motherboards and video cards from Asus have repeatedly won awards at various exhibitions, and also set various world records. You can read about all this separately.

Other products

In addition to Asus phones and computer equipment, the company also produces monitors, peripherals, network devices, game controllers, etc. Of course, in some aspects, Asus still has a lot to master, but even these products are in great demand. Monitors from the company produce a gorgeous picture and have excellent color rendition. Keyboards and mice also provide comfortable work. There is nothing to say at all about gaming peripherals, since they are of excellent quality and are considered one of the best in the world.

Be that as it may, you can love Asus, you can be indifferent, but you cannot deny its enormous contribution to the development of computer technology, the IT sector and equipment. What can you wish for a company? Huge success, even more quality products and slightly lower prices.

Story

The company was founded in 1990 in Taipei, Taiwan. There are four founders: T.H. Tung, M.T. Liao, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh; all of them are electronics engineers, and all of them previously worked at Acer. The name is derived from Pegasus, the name of the winged horse from Greek myths, which was a symbol of inspiration. According to official information from Asus, the company's name indicates the spirit of creativity, purity and strength. In addition, Asus places special emphasis on innovation and its role in the company's success. It must be said that the company achieved success quite quickly, and by the 2000s it had already gained a good reputation, not only in China, but throughout the world.

In 2003, the company's first cell phone was released - the J100 model. In 2005, Asus launched its first LCD TV and the following year released one of the world's first ultrabooks; in 2007 the company announced the Eee PC netbook. But it cannot be called the first netbook: a similar device under the netBook (!) brand was released by Psion back in the late 1990s. In the same 2007, the company announced its intention to release Blu-ray drives, and a little later laptops with Blu-ray drives went on sale.

In 2008, Business Week ranked Asus in first place in the ranking of Taiwanese computer hardware brands, valuing the brand at $1.3 billion. In addition, the same Business Week has included Asus in the top ten ranking of the most successful IT companies - InfoTech 100 - for 11 years now.

2010 was marked by the release of the thinnest laptop in the world (model U36, 19 mm thick). In 2010-2011, the company attempted to enter the reader market with the DR900 and EA800 models, but this attempt ended in failure; The device turned out to be very mediocre and is now practically not sold anywhere. But Asus tablets (Eee Pad Transformer series) turned out to be more successful.

In 2012, the Asus company, brand and products received a total of more than 4,000 awards. Currently, ASUSTek is the fifth largest personal computer manufacturer in the world in terms of sales, behind HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer). ASUSTeK's subsidiary, Pegatron (founded in 2008), produces electronic components for companies such as HP, Apple, and Sony. Another subsidiary, Unihan, specializes in the production of computer cases and similar components.

Currently, ASUSTeK is a public company, its shares are listed on the Taiwan and London stock exchanges. The number of employees exceeds 12,500 and the city's annual revenue is $12 billion. Company slogan: Inspiring Innovations. Persistent Perfection. Official translation: Spirit of Innovation. The path to perfection.

Range

Asus produces a huge number of computers, laptops, components, various devices and batteries. It is worth noting the very wide range of netbooks, laptops, ultrabooks, monitors; There are a lot of tablet computers in the company's assortment, but there are noticeably fewer communicators. Lots of bags, cases, backpacks for laptops and netbooks. In general, Asus produces almost everything that has anything to do with computers. Mice, keyboards, webcams, steering wheels, joysticks - whatever.

The design of Asus equipment is distinguished by rigor and consistency. Cheap models often look rustic; expensive ones are usually solid and beautiful. Some are equipped with an original body coating (rough, as, for example, in the Seashell series). Primary colors: black and various shades of gray. White devices are also available. There are very few models in bright colors.

Technical characteristics and functionality cannot be called extraordinary, but in the vast majority of cases they are quite decent and are almost always adequate for the price. Components such as motherboards, video cards, etc. I don’t consider them because I don’t particularly understand them. Therefore, I admit that here Asus, technically, can be, as they say, at the forefront

However, it is worth emphasizing the company’s very original design solutions, which are simple, practical, and elegant at the same time. First up are the Eee Pad Transformers, which have a nice detachable keyboard. Secondly, this is the Asus PadFone - a communicator that is inserted into the tablet, forming a single whole with it. A truly bold decision.

The quality of Asus equipment is good, but still not ideal. In general, the devices are solid. Build quality is good - with a few exceptions; Reliability is again at the level. And this is the intermediate result: Asus is a very good technology with a good price-quality ratio, but it cannot be called “premium”, “exceptional” and so on. What is called a “workhorse”, but with a good (and sometimes even very beautiful) design. Most Asus devices are universal and will suit the widest audience of users.

Personal impressions. Reviews

I have come across Asus technology more than once. The Asus monitor has been working for about five years without any interruptions, and is generally very good: nice, strict design, good quality, normal functionality. Many people I know have Asus netbooks and laptops; they make a very favorable impression: they work quickly, the assembly is of high quality, and the design is usually beautiful. As a rule, friends do not complain about reliability, although some had problems with the keyboard, others with something else, but not very significant.

Reviews on the Internet are varied, but most of them are positive. Buyers note the following advantages: convenience, practicality, reasonable price, speed, quality, good case. Among the possible disadvantages: certain design flaws, problems and disadvantages characteristic of some specific models. Of course, marriage also happens. In the case of cheap models, the design is not always pleasant, the lack of some options, and the work is not very fast. But there’s nothing you can do about it: a cheap device definitely can’t be ideal, something has to be sacrificed in the name of price.

ASUS was founded in 1989. Its founders were brilliant engineers who managed to design the first motherboard without access to a processor. For several years, ASUS was a dynamically developing company - new products appeared, production volumes grew, and the staff proportionally increased. A lot of technologies were developed, many of which subsequently became de facto standards in the IT industry. Quite soon, under the leadership of the charismatic head of the company, Johnny Shi, who is its president to this day, ASUS, thanks to a creative approach to market problems, became the world leader in the quality and quantity of boards produced. It is worth noting that the basis of any system is, first of all, high-quality motherboards, therefore, the development of the mobile computer market was easy for the company.

In 1997, the first laptop appeared under the company's brand - after which ASUS placed special emphasis on a new category of consumer devices and brought to the market many models in all price segments. It is also interesting that ASUS laptops, for example, were the first to go into space and worked without failures at the Mir station. Further, in accordance with the needs of the market, the company successfully introduced smartphones and tablets of the Zen line, and today is actively developing gadgets in the Internet of Things segment and is aimed at robotics.

Since its founding, ASUS has always paid special attention to gaming products. The desire of engineers to create powerful, uncompromising solutions for enthusiasts and fans of computer games led to the founding of the proprietary sub-brand ASUS Republic of Gamers in 2006. The rapid development of the gaming market contributed to the formation of the ROG brand, whose products have become role models for many manufacturers. ROG is more than just innovative and ultra-reliable devices, the brand is now actively involved in the global gaming community, helping to grow the gaming industry by organizing eSports events around the world. The Republic of Gamers brand has become a leader in the segment of the best devices for computer games and extreme overclocking, winning many awards and positive reviews from specialized media around the world.

Brand missionROG

Today, the Republic of Gamers line includes computer hardware - motherboards, video cards, sound cards, gaming monitors, high-performance laptops, desktops, as well as gaming peripherals - keyboards, mice, headsets. ASUS ROG products provide unparalleled performance for the most demanding users. All this made it possible to create an entire army of fans around the world around the brand.

Brand evolutionROG

The Republic of Gamers brand was created in 2006, and from that time on, when creating products, ASUS engineers began working in close collaboration with the world's leading gamers and overclockers, making decisions that were quite unconventional at first glance. There is a fundamental rule in the industry: in order to bring a successful line of new products to market, designers and engineers must have a thorough understanding of their customers.

At the end of 2004, the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard was released, which was essentially a prototype for future ROG products. This was the first motherboard to support the installation of two video cards working in conjunction with NVIDIA SLI. This solution, when using two relatively inexpensive GeForce 6600 GT models, outperformed the then top-end video card GeForce 6800 Ultra in terms of performance in games.

In addition, the high overclocking potential of the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe has made this motherboard the best choice for overclockers and enthusiasts for the current generation of processors, which has been confirmed by numerous records in gaming tests and benchmarks.

But the team of engineers did not stop there - they strived to achieve record performance and overclocking indicators, such that no one else in the world had ever achieved. They dreamed of creating a community of PC gamers, computer enthusiasts and overclockers. But what should they call themselves? Extreme teams? Too common. Extreme gaming? Too easy. G Group? Not mind-blowingly cool. After much discussion, the temporary name Project G was approved, and soon a motherboard in this series, codenamed Pluto, was developed.

The most significant productsRepublicofGamers: chronology of events

In 2006, the Project G team was renamed Republic of Gamers, and the first product of the new brand was the Crosshair motherboard based on the nForce 590 SLI chipset. Of particular interest was the completely passive cooling system with copper radiators and tubes, and an LCD screen was located on the rear panel of the board. This board supported exclusive system overclocking technologies: for example, in the first tests, using ASUS Crosshair, it was possible to overclock the AMD Athlon FX-62 processor from the standard 2800 MHz to 3658.3 MHz. This achievement contributed to the international recognition of the Republic of Gamers brand and the emergence of the slogan “The Choice of Champions.”

In 2007, a new line of gaming laptops ASUS G1 was released under the Republic of Gamers brand. Large and heavy machines in this series were aimed primarily at gamers: a body with imitation carbon fiber, as well as side lamps (on both sides of the screen), the intensity of which varied depending on the game scene, improved the immersion effect in computer games. The 15.4-inch display of these laptops had a resolution of 1680 × 1050 pixels, the fastest mobile processor at that time, Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz), 2 GB of DDR2 RAM (667 MHz) and fast discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256 MB of memory. Another feature worth noting is the presence of a small OLED display above the keyboard. It could display information such as system status or even messages in games in real time.

This video card, released in 2008, was aimed at the most demanding gamers - depending on the load imposed, the video card could automatically adjust parameters such as voltage, frequency indicators and fan speed. ASUS ROG Matrix based on the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GPU was the first representative of the MATRIX product line, built using advanced Super Hybrid Engine Technology. In addition, the video card was equipped with an original hybrid cooler design and was equipped with a useful overclocking tool iTracker, which offers the user five preset profiles.

The ROG CG8565 desktop computer, which appeared in 2011, was positioned as a powerful gaming station with instant overclocking functionality. The system, housed in a striking black case with red backlighting, is built on a motherboard with the Intel Z68 Express chipset in configurations with Intel Core i5/i7 processors of the Sandy Bridge generation and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 video card with three gigabytes of GDDR5 memory. Thanks to the proprietary Turbo Gear function, the user could instantly switch the processor to one of three overclocking modes, and the current operating mode could be easily determined by a special indicator on the case. The top configuration of this PC included up to 32 GB of RAM, 2 TB of disk space and a separate SSD drive for the operating system.

The first gaming headset under the Republic of Gamers brand in 2011 was the ROG Vulcan ANC model. The main feature of this model is clear from the markings - ROG Vulcan ANC had an active noise cancellation system (this is what the letters ANC in the name stand for - active noise cancellation). The stylish design of the headset is based on a combination of black and bright red colors, complemented by carbon-look inserts. The headset uses 40mm drivers. When using these headphones, the musical accompaniment of games fades into the background, which allows the user to focus on the effects: shots, creaks and sneaking steps of a virtual enemy.

This gaming sound card comes with an external unit connected to the card using cables. Thanks to this, the user is spared the need to fiddle with the connectors on the back wall every time he connects and disconnects the headset. To change the volume, just turn the knob, and to temporarily mute the sound, press the button. It is also worth noting that this external module performs another important function. Thanks to its dual-microphone array, the board is able to effectively suppress ambient noise, improving the quality of voice communication between team members during online battles.

This motherboard, measuring only 17 × 17 cm (Mini-ITX form factor), is comparable in functionality to many ATX solutions. By the way, it was with the help of this model that the world record for overclocking DDR3 RAM to 4,231 MHz was set. The model is built on the Intel Z87 chipset and supports fourth generation Intel Core processors. The board is equipped with a SupremeFX Impact sound card, which is characterized by a best-in-class signal-to-noise ratio of 115 dB. The ROG Maximus VI Impact power supply uses digital control, the same as the ATX-sized ROG boards.

The ROG GX700 gaming laptop is much more than a simple demonstration of the company's technological power. This is significant confirmation that gaming solutions have become a priority for ASUS. In addition to being the world's first laptop with a water cooling system, it is also the first laptop with a full-fledged NVIDIA GTX 980 graphics card. The ROG GX700 is equipped with the most modern interfaces, a high-quality screen, top-end components and an insanely fast disk subsystem. Through the proprietary ROG Gaming Center utility in this gaming monster you can overclock the processor, RAM and video card. By default, the utility overclocks the processor to 4 GHz, the frequency of the video card processor and memory frequency increases by 100 MHz. In addition, in ROG Gaming Center you can activate the XMP profile, which allows you to increase the RAM frequency up to 2800 MHz.

The 34-inch ROG PG348Q monitor with a curved screen has wide viewing angles, a resolution of 3440 × 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 21:9. NVIDIA G-SYNC technology delivers fast, smooth motion pictures, and G-SYNC performance is achieved by synchronizing the display's refresh rate with the GeForce GTX graphics card in your PC or laptop. This eliminates tearing and minimizes image jitter and lag. As a result, scenes appear instantly, objects appear sharper, and gameplay becomes smoother, giving you an edge over your opponents. The device has a number of functions designed specifically for game lovers. In particular, the matrix supports ASUS GamePlus tools. The user gets tools such as crosshair display and a timer.

Interview with Alex Kim, General Manager of ASUS in the EMEA region

How do you evaluate the company's success? ASUS in Russia over the past year?

I will say frankly that the past year was one of the most difficult for ASUS in Russia, because the country underwent very serious and global economic reforms. And as far as I can judge, very few, even very large companies in the IT market, were able to choose the right course to support their business in crisis conditions, not to mention further development. However, ASUS sees in the changes taking place a transition to a new development strategy for the country, primarily in the economy for market development. Customs rules have changed, market players have changed, and the banking sector has changed. I should note that the word “crisis” in Chinese is represented by two characters that translate as “opportunity” and “danger.” And for ASUS, the past year was certainly a year of great opportunities. The contraction of the market, of course, led to a decrease in the volume of our business, but in the structure of market sales, the volumes of high-performance products have always remained fairly stable. And we used our capabilities and were able to even increase our share in a number of product segments in 2015, in particular in the supply of top components for assembling powerful PCs.

How do you assess the market for gaming PCs and powerful components, since since 2012 everyone has been saying that the desktop PC is dying.

“The PC market is dying, and consoles are the future of the gaming industry” - indeed, this is what analysts have been saying since 2012. But let me give you some interesting figures: revenue in the computer games market in 2015 amounted to $36.3 billion, exceeding revenue from console games by 10 times. Do you feel the gap? Of course, the gaming PC market in Russia is 8-10 times smaller than in Europe and the USA, and, in fact, today we are building a gaming PC market in Russia. Our Republic of Gamers products are in high demand, and we will only more actively develop this area, and ASUS is the undisputed leader in the gaming computer market in Russia. We love computer games, our clients love computer games. Here we see that the gamer segment is growing rapidly, and therefore we are expanding the supply of components on which gaming computers can be assembled.

How will you celebrate the brand's tenth anniversary? Republic of Gamers in Russia?

In honor of the anniversary of our gaming brand, we recently opened the first Republic of Gamers brand store in Russia in the largest shopping center in Europe, Aviapark, located in Moscow on Khodynsky Boulevard. By opening the Republic of Gamers dedicated store, we want to give gamers and computer enthusiasts the opportunity to view and test our new products on site. We want this store to become a place of pilgrimage, a kind of Mecca for gamers. In this store, we present customers with both specially designed models of gaming laptops and computers, gaming monitors, and premium components for assembling a powerful desktop PC.

I will also note that this store also sells ready-made models of gaming computers from Russian manufacturers Hyper PC and Evo PC of the Powered by ASUS line. These companies assemble exclusive models based on our components, and we will continue to cooperate with these partners.
