Canon MP 250 prints. Review of the Canon MP250 device and analysis of errors

IN last years Many Canon printers use separate ink tanks. Or rather, all printers except cheap or very old printers..

What can we do if we see that after refilling the cartridge Canon printer doesn't print? Few people have probably thought about it, but any of the ink tanks contains only a specific color of dye, and the common print head is inserted on a carriage.
The most common case of why a Canon printer does not print or prints poorly after refilling the cartridge may be that each ink tank has a specific, unique chip that is used as a counter for the number of pages that have been printed by us. Such ink tanks are usually marked CLI-521, CLI-8, PGI-520Bk, PGI-5Bk. In fact similar technology most economical. Thanks to this, you can control each color separately and regardless of their volume, quantity, ink that is still left in each of the inkwells, and then, when one runs out, you can replace each of them separately.
In addition, with the new single print head, you can also control the size of the droplet that is applied to the paper - from 2 to 1 picolitre! This also has a positive effect on print quality and color mixing.

In addition, the new single print head allows you to control the size of the droplet applied to the paper - from 2 to 1 picolitre! This also has a positive effect on print quality and color mixing.
However, due to the fact that the ink tanks are chipped, when the ink runs out, the device will stall, and very often after replacing the cartridge, the Canon printer does not print until the ink tank is replaced. Many users refill ink tanks, but after refilling such a cartridge is still not recognized by the printer as full, and the problem still appears when a Canon printer prints poorly after refilling the cartridge.
Depending on the model of the device, the cartridge chips (and the “pampers of the devices, where the ink is drained when cleaning the print head) can be reset or reset using the programmer. If, after refilling the cartridge, the printer does not print Canon mp250, you can also disable counter tracking in the device menu or device driver settings.

Canon printer does not work after refilling cartridge

You should not confuse the ink counter in the cartridge and the waste ink counter - the so-called “diaper” counter, and what to do if after refilling the cartridge the printer does not print Canon mg3540. They reset differently.
Canon mp280 printer does not print after refilling the cartridge
The ideal case for resetting cartridge chips is when you have a programmer that is sold in online stores. If you do not have it, then the refilled cartridge installed in the printer will be detected as empty. In this case, you can try disabling monitoring of ink levels in cartridges.
Canon mg3640 printer does not print after refilling the cartridge
Information about the ink level in chips installed in cartridges of Canon Pixma printers with separate ink tanks such as iP4200, iP5200, etc. cannot be reset or reset.

In order to understand how to start a Canon printer after refilling a cartridge, the operation of the printer was not blocked when it reached zero values level of ink in cartridges, according to the chip, you need to disable the printer's monitoring system for monitoring the level of ink in cartridges.

After the printer reports that some cartridge is out of ink, you need to press the paper feed button. This is the middle button with a triangle and a flashing indicator. Keep it pressed for 10 seconds. After this, the printer will turn off the ink level monitoring system for that ink tank. Now the printer will not block work. If you occasionally receive messages indicating that the cartridges are low on ink, simply ignore them.

The ink can be used for purposes other than printing. The ink is used not only for printing, but also for cleaning the print head, which is necessary to ensure optimal quality print.

The device has an automatic nozzle cleaning function to prevent clogging. The cleaning process forces ink out of the nozzles. The amount of ink in / used for cleaning is small.

Are colored inks used for black and white printing?

Black and white printing may use color ink depending on the paper type or printer driver settings. Thus, color inks are used even for black and white printing.

When the print head nozzles become clogged, printouts become faded and paper is wasted.

> Is the inside of the device stained with ink?

After printing large quantity documents or borderless printing, the parts of the machine through which paper passes may become smeared with ink. Clean the inside of the device using the tray cleaning function.

Check if the paper is inserted correctly!

> Is the paper oriented correctly when loading?

When loading paper in the rear tray, place it face up.

Is the paper curled?

Curled paper may cause a paper jam. Straighten the curled paper, and then reinsert it.

After loading paper, make sure that the paper settings are set!

Exist Various types Papers: specially coated paper for optimal photo quality and paper designed for document printing. The Media Type function of the printer driver has different preliminary settings for each paper type (such as ink usage, ink supply, or nozzle distance), so you can print on any type of paper with optimal image quality. The Paper button on the control panel, which is used when making copies, also has settings similar to the Paper button on the control panel according to the type of paper loaded.

To cancel printing, use the Stop/Reset button!

Never press the "On" button.

If you click the On button. During the printing process, print data sent from the computer will wait its turn and printing may stop. To stop the printing process, press the Stop/Reset button.

If you cannot cancel the printing process by pressing the Stop/Reset button when printing from a computer, open the printer driver setup window and delete the unnecessary print job from the Printer Status Monitor (Windows).

Do not use or move the device in an inclined or vertical position!

Using or transporting the device in an inclined or vertical position may cause ink leakage or damage to the device. Never use or move the device in an inclined or vertical position.

Do not place on document cover foreign objects.

Do not place any objects on the document cover. When you open the document cover, these items will fall into the rear tray, which may cause the device to malfunction. Also, place the device so that nothing can fall on it.

Choose the location to place the device carefully!

Place the device at least 5.91 inches/15 cm from electrical appliances such as fluorescent lamps. If the device is placed closer, it may become unstable due to fluorescent noise.

How can I ensure optimal print quality?

To print with optimal print quality, prevent the print head from drying out and becoming dirty. To ensure optimal print quality, always follow these steps:

Follow the steps below before disconnecting the power cord.

1. Press the On button to turn off the device.

2. Make sure the Power LED is off.

3. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet or turn off the cable connector.

When you press the On button. To turn off the power, the device automatically raises the print head (nozzles) to prevent drying out. If you unplug the power cord from electrical outlet or turn it off network filter Before the power light turns off, the print head will not be raised, which may cause it to dry out or become clogged.

Unplug the power cord following the instructions above.

Print periodically

If you do not use the device for a long time, the print head can become clogged with dried ink in the same way that a felt-tip pen drys out from long-term non-use, even if it is closed. We recommend using the device at least once a month.

Depending on the type of paper, ink may smudge if you draw on the printed image with a marker or brush, or if water or sweat comes in contact with the printed image.

Fuzzy colors and blurry printing.

Print out a template to check the nozzles to make sure they are clean.

If the print head nozzles are clogged, this may cause blurred print results or color distortion.

In this case, print a sample to check the nozzles.

Inspect the printed nozzle check pattern to see if the nozzles are dirty.

Type P Printer Errors

When a type P error occurs, the alarm indicator and power button are on. Let's consider possible options Canon PIXMA MP250 errors and their designations.

It is forbidden to solve the listed problems yourself. The manufacturer advises contacting a specialized center.

No matter how eloquent the beliefs of printer manufacturers about the quality and reliability of their printing machines, technology remains technology, therefore, sooner or later it may fail. All this also applies to Canon products. The equipment of this manufacturer is undoubtedly highly reliable. And if a Canon printer stops printing (essentially, it breaks down), then this is an exception rather than a pattern. But breakdowns do happen, and this article will present the most common reasons Printing machine malfunctions and how to fix them yourself.

About malfunctions in general

A printer is a computerized machine, i.e. it consists of electronic and electromechanical components. Like any digital technology, printers have a built-in operating system (OS) that is responsible not only for the functioning of the machine, but also for its interaction with the computer and the user. From all this it follows that the reasons for equipment failure can be:

  1. Hardware and technical malfunctions associated with the operation of electronic/electromechanical components of the equipment.
  2. Software malfunctions, both in the printer itself and on the user’s computer.

The first category of malfunctions will require the user to perform certain physical manipulations with the hardware component of the printer - disassemble something, disconnect it, tweak it, and so on. To resolve problems in the second category, you will need to perform some procedures on your computer. Therefore, any specialist first tries to eliminate precisely software problems, and only then moves on to the hardware.

Software problems

To work with a regular (standard) office/home printer you need Personal Computer(PC) that provides user interaction with the printing machine. The computer itself must “be able” to work with the equipment connected to it, and for this there is software(software) in the form of drivers and specialized programs. Therefore, it is with their installation/restoration that you need to start.

Installing drivers

When purchasing any Canon printer model, the user is also provided with software for working with it. If the drivers and application programs were lost, they can always be downloaded from the official Canon website (canon.ru). All you need to do is indicate the printer model on the website, then select the version and bit depth (32/64 bit) operating system computer, and then download the proposed software.

To check if drivers are installed on your computer, you need to run next steps(example for Windows 7):

  • Connect (or reconnect) the USB cable from the printer to the computer. If Windows does not recognize the new device, a message will be displayed indicating that drivers are missing. Otherwise, move on to the next steps.
  • Open the Start menu and go to Control Panel.
  • Next, go to “Hardware and Sound”, then “Devices and Printers”.
  • The newly opened window should display printers and other devices registered by the system, i.e. drivers were installed for them. If there is no icon with the name of the Canon printer you are connecting to, you need to install a driver.

After installing the software, an icon will appear in the “Devices and Printers” tab. After this, you need to check if the printer is working. You can send any document for printing or print a test page. To do this you need:

  • Right-click on the printer icon and select “Printer Properties”.
  • Then go to the “Basic” tab.
  • A “Print” button will appear at the bottom. test page" Click on it and wait for it to print.

Even if the test print is successful, some documents may still not print. This occurs when the OS accesses an unconnected printer that has drivers installed on it (the printer that was used on this computer previously) and which is selected as the default printing equipment. To set the newly connected machine as the default, just right-click on its icon in the Devices and Printers window and select Set as Default.

Starting the service and setting the default printer

At any Windows versions there are special utilities, called services. One of these programs is responsible for working with printing devices. If she's in this moment does not work, then you should not expect a print. To enable the service you need:

  • Go through “Start” to “Control Panel”;
  • Select “System and Security”;
  • Then - “Administration”;
  • Next - open “Services”;
  • Will open big list services where you need to find “Print Manager”;
  • Right-click on this service;
  • In the window that opens, find the “Status” section;
  • If this message is followed by “Stopped”, click the “Start” button below;
  • It is also recommended to select “Automatic” in the “Startup Type” section;
  • After clicking the “Apply” button, try printing the test page again.

Reinstalling software

It happens that even with the drivers available and the Print Spooler service enabled, the printer refuses to print. Here you can try to reinstall the software by deleting the previous one. Here are the instructions:

  • Run the driver installer from the disk or downloaded file. If at the very beginning of the program there is an item “Remove drivers”, “Restore”, etc. (depending on the capabilities of the driver), you need to select it and follow the instructions.
  • You can also remove drivers manually by first right-clicking on the “My Computer” icon and then selecting “Properties”.
  • On the left side there will be a “Device Manager” link. Follow it.
  • A list will open various devices. Here you need to find the item with the name of the connected printer and double-click on it.
  • In the new window, go to the “Driver” tab, and then click the “Remove device” button.

After all the manipulations, the driver must be reinstalled, and then the printer’s functionality must be checked.

Hardware faults

If manipulations with drivers and settings do not lead to success, then the problem lies in the hardware. Unfortunately, not all problems can be eliminated without the help of a specialist. However, you can fix some minor problems yourself.

Printing errors after refilling cartridges

At the moment when the ink in the cartridge runs out, corresponding messages are displayed on the computer screen when you try to print. If the errors do not disappear after refilling, this means that the printer simply “did not understand” that the user had filled in with ink. To resolve this problem, you need to disable the ink level monitoring function. You can do this in two ways:

  1. Hardware. The method involves pressing and holding a certain button on the printer for several seconds. Which button should be pressed will be described in the text of the error box. This is usually the Stop or Stop/Reset button (depending on the printer model). Also, the button may not have a label, but only graphic image(You can find out about the purpose of the buttons in the printer instructions).
  2. Program. This method involves disabling the ink level monitoring function through a special utility on the computer. To call it, you also need to go to the “Devices and Printers” section and right-click on the printer icon. From the list, select “Properties”, then go to the “Maintenance” tab, then “Printer status information”, click the “Options” button. Next to the words “Output a warning automatically”, uncheck the box, and then click “Apply” or “OK”.

There are a few things to keep in mind:

  • A similar error is displayed when the ink level in each of the cartridges decreases individually. Those. Removing control over the ink level will have to be done every time the ink runs out in one of the ink tanks (but only once for one cartridge).
  • Disabling control can also be done through specialized Canon software, if such a function is provided by the manufacturer.
  • When replacing a cartridge with a new one, the control turns on automatically.

Minor problems with cartridges

There are many problems with cartridges. The simplest of them can be easily fixed on your own. These include:

  • Incorrect installation of ink tanks. It happens that a newly installed/refilled cartridge does not touch the electronic contact pad of the printer, which is why the latter simply “does not see” the ink tank. Here it is enough to remove and reinstall the cartridge in place, pressing it more tightly.
  • Absence electrical contact. For normal operation cartridge is necessary so that all of it electronic contacts touched those at the printer. If a small object gets stuck between them, there is ink or water spilled from the ink tank, there will be no electrical contact (or there may be short circuit), which means printing will not be possible. Before installing the cartridge, you need to clean its contact pad from any dirt and remove foreign objects from its surface. You need to do the same with the printer contact pad.
  • Incompatible cartridge. For each separate model Canon printers have their own unique cartridge. If you install an inappropriate or non-original (i.e. counterfeit) ink tank, the printer will not be able to detect it and will stop working. The solution is to purchase compatible original cartridges. You can also find out which devices you should purchase on the official Canon website.

Drying ink in the cartridge

Any ink dries when exposed to air - otherwise it would not be able to remain on the paper. But paint can dry not only on the paper, but also at the outlet of the cartridge - on its nozzles. If the machine sits idle for several weeks or the user removes the ink tank and leaves it outside the printer, there is a high chance that the ink will dry out. In its solid state, the ink clogs the nozzles, blocking the liquid from getting out.

To fix this problem, you will need to clean the cartridge nozzles of dried ink. This can be done using slightly moistened water (or better yet, a special flushing liquid) cotton swab. You can also soak the cartridge by lowering it about 1 cm into the cleaning solution for several hours.

Print head problems

Of all the existing problems with the print head, only one of them can be fixed at home/office - clean its nozzles from frozen ink. All other faults can only be eliminated by disassembling the printer.

Used to clean the head special utility, which can also be opened by pressing right button mouse on the printer icon and select “Printing Settings”. Here the user will be offered two cleaning options - normal and deep. You can start with the usual one, if that doesn’t help, do a deep cleaning. When you select any of the options, a group of ink tanks will be displayed on the screen, which will be subject to the cleaning procedure. Can choose specific color or all the ink at once. By clicking the “Run” button, the cleaning process will start, which will take 1-2 minutes.

Question: 1 color of Canon mp250 is completely missing

Canon mp250 printer. Original cartridges with adapted CISS.

The can ran out of paint (pink) and the color disappeared. But after refilling the color still did not return. Deep cleaning I did it about 10 times with an interval of several minutes. I bled the paint. Does not help. Pink doesn't even print partially. The remaining colors pass the nozzle test 100%.
I pulled out the cartridge and used a syringe to create pressure (carefully) in the pink jar - ink drips through the pink nozzles. Nothing helps.

I didn’t stand idle so that I could dry out.

I suspect that the pink nozzles have burned out... But who the hell knows...

Does anyone have any guesses?

Answer: and standard software and print_help and service_tool... absolutely no signs of life..

Question: Canon mp250 artifacts when printing

Hello, Canon mp250 prints with a rainbow in the middle of the sheet (in the nozzle clogging test white stripe). I once heard about such an artifact, but I don’t remember how to solve it. Does anyone know the reason and method of repair? A printer with a CISS, I cleaned it, wiped the cartridges, the CISS is not air-filled, in excellent condition, but inside the printer on the walls and the cartridges, paint clings to your hands (although the CISS does not seem to be leaking, I checked, the connections on the cartridges are dry, there is no paint).

Answer: If anyone suddenly has similar problems, or is wondering how to clean the positioning tape, here are my instructions:
1. Remove the CISS (do not forget to close the small holes, as during transportation).
2. Remove the top cover from the control panel.
3. Filming back panel(paper feed unit.
4. Remove the side panels.
5. Unhook the tape on the right (under the control panel), carefully release the tape (note that there is a spring holding the tape on the other side). We unhook the tape along with the spring from the left side, pull out the tape (look carefully at how the tape is coming, because there is a special hole for it in the carriage; after cleaning, the tape must be inserted into this hole).
6. Carefully wipe the tape wet wipe without putting in any effort. If there are easily visible stains, wet a regular paper napkin with some Mr. Muscle and wipe again.

When it's well vitretted, insert the tape in the same way as it was before (don't forget about the hole in the carriage with the cartridges. Reassemble the printer in the reverse order. After cleaning the tape, the stripe along the sheet disappeared, although the black did not change at all; the repeating white lines along the sheet).

Z.Y. Disassembly instructions:
(in pictures)

Added after 1 minute
The question remains what to do with monochrome printing (in the nozzle test before and after cleaning the tape, nothing changed).

Question: Canon Mp250 stopped accepting paper

The problem is that the Canon MP250 printer has stopped accepting paper. Tightens it only with right side, when looking at the front of the printer. I shook out all possible debris that had fallen into the paper tray, felt for foreign objects and still came up with nothing. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Answer: Well, the feed mechanism is certainly overkill, and, of course, they will offer to change the roller. All cards about the service have been revealed

Question: Canon mp250. The black cartridge prints very transparently.

All in all.
The black cartridge prints very transparently... barely. It's like it's dried out. I filled it up. In general, I didn’t do anything from what I found on the Internet. The printer itself prints in color. It doesn't print 1 color from the color one, but it looks like I almost never used color. Black has already corrected this before. I put it on a napkin...the paint comes out. And how to print seems to be clogged. I'm thinking about buying a new MFP cartridge or sending it for repair. Something may not work and it has to do with the transfer of paint to the sheet or the sheet of paper is not being fed correctly. Exactly related to black paint. Maybe someone can enlighten me further actions. A cartridge for this printer costs 2500 here.... so it would be even cheaper for me to buy an MFP. But I want to know for sure.
So that's the crux of the matter. The cartridge is covered or something is broken inside the MFP due to which the ink is not placed on a sheet of paper... well, something like that. I hope for your understanding of my ignorance.

Answer: Either the head of the cartridge is about to die, or low-quality ink that cannot completely come out onto the sheet

Question: Canon MG5440 bold print + unknown symptoms

I have been using the printer paired with CISS for more than six months. A week ago, the devil decided to check what would happen if the sheet was printed completely black. As a result, we have the following situation: black text prints several lines normally, following lines are printed in bold with a slight offset. There is no loss of color. Other colors are printed without this problem. The test print produces a very interesting result (attached a photo). Help identify the problem. The leveling tape is clean, without noticeable dirt.

Answer: I figured it out myself. The reason for double printing is the burnout of black nozzles. You'll have to buy a new PG.

Question: CANON MP250 (MFP) ISSUES CODE: 2,140,2

Hello. Has anyone come across this nonsense? Issues when trying to scan. It started out of nowhere.

Answer: This means there is no ink supply. You need to press the button with a triangle drawn in a circle (next to the Black and Color button) and hold for 10-30 seconds. After this the printer should work.

Question: Crooked printing (stripes, incorrect colors) canon pixma mg5340

Good day!
The problem is actually in the photo
Here's the original:

And here is the printed image: (ignore the paleness)

I looked around the forum, it looks like there is something wrong with the “heads”. Does anyone know how to fix this and what could cause this?
Model Canon pixma mg5340

Answer: It seems to me that the problem is 100% in the ink. You need to try or change to quality manufacturer(OCP), or try washing the print head, refilling it with the same ink and see if this situation happens again or not. You can find washing instructions here:

Question: When replacing the video card, the sound disappeared completely

Good afternoon, I would like some help. I replaced the asus geforce gt630 video card with a zotac gtx 560, immediately after the replacement the sound disappeared completely. The speakers are working, the headphones are working (checked). I thought Windows 10, but that was not the case, I rolled back to Windows 7. Now I’m on seven and I don’t know what to do anymore, I’m attaching screenshots of the device and sound manager. Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3. Installed drivers for a new video card, installed audio drivers for sound (from the gigabyte website on this video card), tried to re-plug, change, etc. playback devices. To no avail. Who can say what?? I think I may have touched the audio connector (which is very unlikely) or the problem is in the video card. The computer can see the device. I immediately apologize for my incompetence in this matter, I will be glad for any help.

Answer: Maybe it’s still worth turning on the speakers?

Question: Canon MG3240 and error E15

Canon MG3240.
E15 started popping up. Cartridges are original, refilled several times myself good ink, according to instructions from the Internet. For a while, extracting/inserting helped.

I bought a new black one, put it in: still the same.
I bought a new color one: the problem remained. Both are original, XL.

I took it to the service center. The aunt who checked said that either there was something inside the carriage, or one of the cartridges was burnt out. To check, you need to buy two new cartridges and insert both at once.
Wiping the contacts on the carriage did not help.

What to do? I spent 2800 on XL (I found a new black, unopened, unexpired, sealed one for cheap), I have no desire to spend the same amount to check.
In the MFP trash bin?

When disassembling, I also removed the carriage guide and placed it in the uppermost position during assembly (the difference between the lower and upper is about 3-4 mm). The carriage began to surprisingly hit the left edge while starting the printer. It turns out there are mounting notches there. The rail is aligned with them relative to the rest of the printer’s internals. After leveling out the blows disappeared.

In general, it’s not a printer, but a crapshoot in terms of reliability. The only good thing is that printing is cheap. A bottle of paint of each color costs 180 rubles (InkTech). An XL cartridge is enough for about 15-20 refills (approximately 700 pages each). That is, one page (excluding paper) costs about 15 kopecks. Savings when refilling are about 30,000 rubles.

Thank you for reassuring me! I was already thinking about taking it to the trash/disassembly and buying a new one.

Question: I can’t reset the ink level on Canon mg2440

Hello, help me solve this problem! The mg2440 printer has run out of ink, I have refilled both cartridges, the black one prints perfectly, the color one doesn’t want any color at all (but when printing a test sample for cleaning the nozzles, all colors are printed perfectly). I tried pressing stop/reset - no effect. I searched all the forums and sites, but didn’t find anything useful! Tell me what could be the matter?

Answer: Yes, most likely it’s just printing in black, it can’t be any other way
