The Japanese company EPSON is one of the most recognizable when it comes to printers, computers, TVs, laptops and many other devices that provide us with convenience in everyday life.

A common thing about an EPSON printer, apart from its excellent print quality, is that, like everything else, there is a need to keep an eye on maintenance, which involves replacing the cartridge.

For this purpose, we are going to highlight six steps to make changing cartridges less of a headache.

If you want to practice on the fly, all you need is: your printer and two cartridges, the one that will be removed and the one that will replace it.

Before you buy a cartridge, it's good to know that the printer is about to announce that it is low on ink. How? Very simple, there are several indicator lights on the printer panel; when the cartridge runs out, the indicator will start flashing.

Now we begin:

Wait until the ink runs out completely:

Epson printers notify you when ink is low or when there is no ink, so you should expect it to happen all the way to start changing the cartridge. If the printer has not announced anything and is printing very poorly, it is recommended to clean the cartridge base or clean the cartridge base in the printers. If this doesn't work, we can decide to replace the cartridge with a new one. If a cartridge runs out of ink while it is in print mode, you can replace it without stopping printing.

Remove the cartridge:

When we are sure that the cartridge is definitely out of ink, it is time to remove the empty cartridge. To begin this step, we must remove the printer's cover, which gives access to the cartridges, and you must also press the button to replace the cartridge. It is located on the printer control panel, where “printer and fax”, the “change cartridges” option appears there, so the printer knows that we want to replace the cartridge.

Click the “change cartridges” button:

When executing this option, the printer sends a command to the cartridges, which allows them to not be too close to the printer or move out of place so that we can easily remove them and make replacements.

Replace the cartridge:

Since you have removed the inkless cartridge, it is time to replace it with a new one or refill the same cartridge with ink.

Place a new cartridge:

Depending on your Epson printer model, the way cartridges are placed varies, so it is important to know your printer's instruction manual. In smart printers, when you enter the cartridge, it will ask you to check the cartridge on the control panel, you must click "ok" and it will be ready.

Ready!:

Since you've completed the five steps we've outlined, it's time to notify your Epson printer that you're ready to continue your excellent printing job.

When purchasing a new cartridge, all have a yellow safety tape so that the air inside the cartridge does not disappear. Therefore, to start using it, the tape must be removed before placing it in the printer.

For Epson printers, it is sometimes necessary for each cartridge's chip to be changed after completion. This is one of the reasons why some reusable cartridges may cause an error in the printer. Remember that maintaining any Epson printer is important for its proper functioning. It is important to keep it clean by detaching it to wipe it with a damp cloth. When a paper jam occurs, it is important to know where the jam is located, and printers typically have access points to remove jammed sheets. No cuts, this is worse and can cause damage to the equipment.

If you want to buy a printer, feel free to choose Epson, Epson printer ink cartridges are very reliable and they last so long that many people do not know how to replace the cartridges.

Every printer owner will be faced with such an important procedure as replacing a cartridge. There is no way without this; during active use, the ink is consumed quickly, and therefore requires renewal. The procedure takes a minimum of time, but for inexperienced users the main thing is to understand the principle of operation, then questions will definitely not arise.

If you are removing the cartridge for the first time, the main thing is to do everything correctly and not accidentally damage the device or the component being removed. Be careful not to get any paint on it, as it will be quite difficult to wipe it off your hands later.

Replacing ink in an Epson printer

To replace the ribbon cartridge in Epson printers, you must first turn off the device. If the printer has just been running, you need to wait a few minutes until the print head cools down.

Open the printer cover and remove it. If necessary, remove the paper tension unit.

Remove the old cartridge by pressing the corresponding latches. Insert the new cartridge so that the guide pins of the structure fit tightly into the mounting slots of the printer itself. Install the print ribbon onto the cartridge and replace the cover.

What do you need to know?

Inkjet printers run out of ink very quickly. As a rule, they are enough for only 200 pages, or even less. In addition, cartridges are not cheap and replacing them is quite expensive. It is possible to simply refill the empty tank and continue using it.

Before refilling, you must turn off the counter, which monitors the ink level and blocks the printer after it is completely used. Therefore, after refilling, the printer will not be able to print, “thinking” that there is no ink. The tracking counter can be disabled using certain key combinations, which vary by model. And only after turning off tracking can you refill an empty cartridge and continue using the printer.

How to change ink in an Epson printer?

Regardless of whether we are talking about black or color printer models, the refilling process itself is the same. The only difference is the number of colors or compartments intended for refilling.

And now in more detail about how to refill ink into an Epson printer.

  1. First, remove the cartridge and seal the exit hole with tape.
  2. Secondly, you refill the ink using a syringe.
  3. Thirdly, we seal the filling holes.

When you buy a new cartridge, its printheads should be covered with yellow tape, which helps trap the necessary air that allows the ink to escape from the cartridge. You must remove this tape before using the cartridge.

If an error is displayed after installing the cartridge, it means that it was not refilled properly or the Epson cartridge chip may need to be replaced. This procedure is required for most Epson cartridges.

As I wrote earlier, sometimes it becomes necessary to change the type of ink for an inkjet printer. Depending on the type of printing, and specifically the type of media (paper) for use in an inkjet printer, sometimes it becomes necessary to switch from photo ink to pigment ink or vice versa.

Also, sometimes there may be a need to convert the printer to sublimation ink. In all these cases, we do not need to replace the printer itself, nor do we need to replace refillable cartridges or CISS.

We can continue to use CISS and cartridges with other types of ink, but before replacing the ink, it is necessary to wash the cartridges, as well.

The technology is quite simple and will not require much of your time. To start work, we need tools and flushing fluid.

Washing the cartridge is a necessary tool

The tools we will need are:

- medical syringes, volume 5-10 ml

- medical kit “system”, we will need the cable itself from this kit

— empty containers for draining remaining ink into the CISS (if one is used on your inkjet printer)

— blotting cloths for more convenient washing of cartridges and printer print head

When all the necessary tools are prepared, we can proceed directly to the washing process. As I wrote earlier, we will also need a universal flushing fluid. For washing, you can use ready-made liquids from various manufacturers; it is advisable to use those recommended for washing and preserving the printer print head. Do not under any circumstances use aggressive liquids that are intended for deep resuscitation of the print head. In our case, aggressiveness is not required, we simply need to clean the entire ink path from the CISS to the print head from the previous type of ink that you used in your printer before changing the ink.

So, everything is prepared, you can start washing the cartridge and head.

We open the plugs on the CISS and use a syringe to draw out the main volume of ink into previously prepared containers. You can simply throw out the ink if you do not plan to use it in the future. After this, remove the cartridge block from the printer carriage and open the silicone buttons on the cartridges. Insert a syringe into the open holes and draw out the remaining ink. We perform this operation with all cartridges for all ink colors.

The next step is to wash the CISS containers, the CISS loop, and also wash the cartridges connected to the CISS. To do this, pour washing liquid into the container of the continuous ink supply system. Insert a syringe into the open hole in the cartridge and begin suctioning the rinse. In this way, we can almost ideally wash the entire ink path of the CISS, including the cable, containers and the cartridges themselves.

When we have finished flushing the system, we move on to flushing the print head of our inkjet printer. Move the carriage aside and place a napkin on the CAPE. We slide the carriage onto the napkin and connect the cable from the system to the fittings of the cartridge unit. In turn, the system cable is connected to a syringe filled with flushing liquid. Smoothly push 2-3 ml of rinse into the print head. This procedure must be carried out with all colors.

Once this process is complete, our printer is ready to work with any new type of ink. We fill the CISS with new ink, install the CISS on the printer and run 1-2 regular cleanings. After this, we check the print quality of the printer and if all the nozzles are perfectly printed, we can consider the work of washing and replacing ink in the printer completed.

From pigment to dropsy and back, instructions for changing ink correctly

This instruction is relevant when changing the type of ink from pigment to water-soluble and vice versa, as well as when changing ink from different manufacturers. Each ink manufacturer has its own unique composition and it is undesirable to mix ink from different manufacturers.

This manual is relevant for printers: Epson C91, C110, T26, T27, T30, T40, TX106, TX109, TX117, TX119, TX200, TX209, TX210, TX219, TX400, TX409, TX410, TX419, S22, SX420W, SX425W, SX125 , SX130, BX305F, BX305FW

And also for all six-color Epson printers when switching to ink from another manufacturer (when changing ink)

To write this article I used:

So, consider the following situation. There is a printer with installed safety valves filled with pigment ink. Our task is to make it print on water-soluble ink, and it is first necessary to wash the print head (PG).

Special ones are great for this; thanks to washing kits, you can safely wash the print head of your printer before changing ink. Next, we will consider the process of washing the PG before changing the ink point by point.

1) Install a set of flushing cartridges filled with flushing into the printer

2) After installation, we do two cleanings using the driver, after which we check the nozzles. If all the nozzles are in place, we print. Here's what we got:

3) Do two more cleanings and turn off the printer for an hour

4) Turn on the printer and print the test image again:

5) We do one more cleaning, after which we turn off the printer. In my case, it was already late (almost one in the morning), and in the morning I had to go to work; I was able to turn on the printer only late in the evening of the next day. As a result, he stood and waited for the night and another day.

6) When the hands finally got to the printer, another test image was taken, very different from the previous two, the printer stood and waited, and all this time the washing did its job, slowly dissolving the pigment remaining in the PG. Thus, we conclude that to achieve the best result you need to wait about a day. In this image, all four colors are clearly visible, towards the end of the page they run out, and only the washing liquid remains, which is visible on the paper due to its color:

7) We do two more cleanings and print a control image to make sure that the remaining ink has completely come out of the PG:

Well, that's all, the print head has been completely cleaned of old pigment ink, now all that remains is to install water-soluble ink cartridges into the printer

The transition from dropsy to pigment, as well as washing the PG using washing kits and changing ink from different manufacturers is done in exactly the same way as described above, the task of washing is to obtain an image of pure pink color without impurities of other colors.

What is the difference between pigment and dropsy? What's better? How to clean the print head? You will find answers to these and many other questions in the articles.

How to check the ink in a printer

If you don't know how to check the ink in your printer, don't panic! For example, you started printing, and it happened that you ran out of ink. You will learn about this when a special notification window appears on the screen. It happens that the printer does not see the ink. This may indicate that the ink is either low or dry. And sometimes the ink has not dried, or even run out, but its level is still not visible. This is also not a problem! It could just be plotter errors. Visit the Inksystem website - and any problems with printing devices will be solved!

How to check HP ink levels

Need to know how much ink is left in the printer? The ink level shows the amount of ink in the printer. It is important that the ink indicator only shows the approximate amount of ink. So, there is no exact answer here. It happens that the printer does not print with colored ink or black ink. This could mean different things. For example, that the ink is running out, or the paint in the printer has dried out. This may also indicate that the black cartridge is not getting air. There may be a vacuum in the consumable and the ink does not go further than the reservoir.

There is such a problem that the printer is flooded with paint. In this case, you need to replace the cartridges, as the nozzles may be punctured. You can also rinse everything with distilled water.
