If you want to translate only a fragment of text into Russian, you need to select it and wait until a small gray triangle appears next to it. By default, the browser offers to translate pages into the interface language. If this does not happen, you need to enable the function in the “Settings” → “Advanced” → “Content Settings” → “Google Translator” menu. To translate from a specific language without prompting, click “Always translate...”.

When visiting various pages of websites or forums, you are often faced with the need to translate both individual phrases and sentences, and entire pages. Using third-party online translators in such situations is a very inconvenient solution. That is why most modern browsers have an automatic translation function, and the Yandex browser is no exception.

In this article, I will not discuss the quality of the translation, but will focus on the ease of use of this built-in function and solving related problems.

How to enable translator

The main feature of the built-in translator in Yandex.Browser is that you cannot translate text passages on pages into the language of your choice. During installation, Yandex Browser determines the main language of your OS and sets this language as the default for the interface. In the future, all visited pages will be offered to translate into this language.

Example. You have Russian-language Windows, so the browser is displayed in Russian. All viewed pages that have a language other than the above, no matter what - French, German or Italian, will be offered to translate into Russian.

You can even disable the translation offer in the settings, in the “Languages” section. To do this, uncheck the indicated items and restart the browser.

Google Translate

Google Corporation took care not only of its own users, but also of users of other browsers by releasing an extension of the same name.

You can find and download it in the Chrome online store.

After installation in Yandex Browser, an icon will appear to the right of the address bar allowing you to make a translation.

Unlike the built-in translator, Google Translate allows you to translate page text into any of the presented ones to choose from.

You can remove the extension in the “Add-ons” section.

ImTranslator

Unlike all of the above, ImTranslator does not have its own word base, but is only a shell for dictionaries from Google, Microsoft and Translator.

After installing the extension, an item will appear in the context menu that allows you to translate the page into any of the 91 languages presented.

The task of translating entire pages or individual phrases and words in Yandex Browser can be solved by a wide range of tools. Don't limit yourself to just the built-in translator - use additional features and you will get a very readable text in the output.

The browser from Yandex has proven itself well as a web browser among those who have decided, which harmoniously combines many functions. Among them, the translator is considered especially important, because often we have to go to foreign language sites, and the text is simply incomprehensible. Previously, in this case, it made sense to use Chrome, however, with the advent of the Yandex browser, the need for this disappeared.
