Windows 10 loading screen. Removing the welcome message after updating

Windows 10 is a modern version of the operating system, which, like its predecessors, has a lock screen. It appears the moment you boot the system or wake up from sleep mode. You can also configure the transition to blocking when the computer is inactive or when the partition for rights on the PC is installed.

Older versions of the system did not support changing splash screens on the login screen at all. In this regard, there was only one way to achieve the goal - using the program. Nowadays, how to change the screensaver on Windows 10 can only be figured out using the built-in tools of the system and it is absolutely not difficult.

How to change the screensaver in Windows 10?

To complete the procedure, you need to perform a simple setup:

  • Click on the Start menu;
  • On the left side of the working window, click on “Options”;

  • Select the “Personalization” tile in the window;

  • On the left side of the menu, go to the “Lock Screen” tab;

  • To replace the picture, you need to click on one of the standard images or use the Browse button and Explorer to select a pre-prepared photo.

Now, if you go to the corresponding screen, you can see the installed image. If you were unable to replace the screensaver, then you most likely have an old version of the system. You just need to update it to the current state. As an alternative option for installing a screensaver, you can use the Logon Background Changer program, but it does not work correctly in modern Windows 10.

The functionality of this window does not end there, because there are additional settings options for placing some applications or installing a slide show on it.

Installing a slideshow

We figured out how to change the screensaver on the Windows 10 desktop, but there is a more detailed and interesting feature of the system - creating a slide show. Thus, on the lock screen you will enjoy not just one, single picture, but they will gradually change.

To install such a special effect, in the same section of the menu, in the “Background” drop-down list, select “Slideshow” instead of “Photo”. After this, you can specify the folder where the target images are located and they will be streamed to the desired screen.

There is also a link “Advanced settings...”, in which you can more subtly specify which screensaver you are interested in when you turn on your Windows 10 computer and its behavior. You can set the switch to lock mode when there is no activity, set the filtering of pictures by suitable size, and tell the system whether there is a need to take photos from the “Film” folder. You can also specify whether to turn off the monitor when a slideshow is playing.

This simple function will help diversify the work with your system, so the Windows 10 screen saver will change at a certain interval. However, this move will not increase PC productivity, but setting up broadcast applications can do so.

Placing extensions on the lock screen

The function of placing additional information in the appropriate place is present in standard system tools and does not require installation of an additional program. To perform the procedure you should:

  • Go to the same “Advanced slideshow options” menu where the application settings are located;

  • You can choose a single program that will show detailed information about its work. To do this, click on the extension icon in the first column and install one of the proposed applications;
  • A large number of auxiliary applications are also available for installation. They will be shown in a smaller and condensed form, the information is incomplete, but may be sufficient. Here you can install up to 7 addons. The selection is made by clicking on the corresponding button with the plus icon.

Thanks to such modest, but at the same time useful information, you can reduce the need for unnecessary system startup. A more functional and beautiful computer menu will also appear.

So, we figured out how to set a screensaver on Windows 10 and how to give it a unique look using a slide show, but not everyone wants to bother with these settings, so some simply disable this menu.

Beginning with Windows 8 , in the most popular OS in the world, in addition to the local user account, a Microsoft account was introduced. Unlike a local profile, a Microsoft account allows you to synchronize settings and files between devices, as well as use the App Store.

For this reason, work in the newly introduced Windows 10 under a Microsoft account has become the standard, but there is a problem: the login screen displays the real username and email address, which can easily be seen by a stranger if you turn on your laptop (tablet) in a public place (cafe, train station, metro). The problem cannot be solved using standard means, but there is a universal way to increase the security of personal data through a simple tweak to the Windows registry.

You can change the login screen (Welcome screen) in Windows 10 using the Local Group Policy Editor gpedit.msc, and by editing the registry. We will go the second way, because... In Windows 10 Home, the policy editor, alas, is not available.

So, to remove the username and email when logging into Windows:

  • press the key combination " Win+R" and dial regedit → "OK";
  • in the system registry editor, expand the chain HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System ;

  • use the right mouse button to open the parameter dontdisplaylastusername and set its value to " 1 " → "OK";

  • open the next option in the list DontDisplayLockedUserId and set the value to " 2 "→ final" OK".

And that's all, personal information will no longer be displayed on the welcome screen. Of course, now when logging into the system you will have to enter not only a password, but also an email address. If there are other accounts on the computer, then their owners will also have to enter their full data.

The above algorithm for maintaining your privacy is also applicable to Windows 8 / 8.1 .

Having installed Windows 10 and after working with it a little, I liked a lot about the new operating system. In my opinion, Microsoft is slowly but surely moving in the right direction, but there is still one thing that I would like to change in all versions of Windows - this point is the standard screen saver while loading systems.

With each release of a new OS, Microsoft changes the welcome screen when the system boots, this has already become something like a corporate style. Now you might just be delighted with the new welcome screen saver in Windows, but sooner or later there will come a time when you get tired of it and you want to change it to something else. But here, most likely, an unpleasant surprise will await you. The problem is that, unlike the image of the lock screen, the one that appears first when the system starts, the image of the welcome screen in Windows 10 is irremovable.
But if you change the background of the welcome screen in Windows 10 This is not possible with standard system tools; this does not mean that third-party utilities will not cope with this task. A small utility will help you replace the background image with any other one. Windows 10 Login Background Changer.

Windows 10 LBC does not require installation, is very easy to use and is completely free. On the right side of the utility window there is an editor panel, with which you can set the necessary parameters for the welcome screen. In particular, you can select an arbitrary image from your hard drive or a single-color fill, hide your avatar and additional control icons in the lower right corner. Any image format will be suitable as a new background JPEG, PNG, BMP And TIFF, however, it is still advisable to ensure that they exactly match the dimensions of your display, as using images with different aspect ratios may cause dark margins to appear on the welcome screen.
The developer also warns against using too light images, white or milky solid colors. The reason is simple: in this case, the username on the screen will become invisible or difficult to distinguish.

Download Windows 10 Login Background Changer 32 bit it's possible for free, Windows 10 Login Background Changer 64 bit can be downloaded. There are no complicated settings in the program; there is a button for quickly restoring default settings. The utility interface language is English.

Question from a user

Hello.

I used to have Windows 7, but then in the corner of the screen, next to the clock, a notification appeared to update it to Windows 10. Of course, after the update, my picture from the welcome screen simply disappeared...

How can I now change the picture on the welcome (lock) screen, i.e. the eye where the password is entered?

Good day!

In general, I would like to note that in the latest versions of Windows 10, you can now change the picture on the welcome screen without any third-party utilities and programs (for which special thanks to the developers, because this has never happened before, as far as I remember). Moreover, you can choose not only a specific photo, but also post it!

I'll show you how it's done below...

Setting up the lock screen

STEP 1

First you need to open Windows Settings. You can do this through the START menu (see screenshot below), or simply press the button combination Win+i.

STEP 2

Then open the “Lock Screen” subsection in the menu on the left, and in the “Background” tab change the option "Windows: Interesting" on "Photo" or "Slide show" (this is if you want to show not just one picture on the welcome screen, but several) .

In my example below, I'll show you how to set one specific picture (i.e. selecting the "Photo" option).

STEP 3

After you set “Photo” in the “Background” tab, you can specify a specific picture for the lock (welcome) screen: either select one of those offered by Windows by default, or load your own from your hard drive.

STEP 4

Further in the same subsection (“Lock screen”), just below, I recommend turning off the display of jokes and facts, and enabling the option “Show the lock screen background on the login screen.” Actually, after that, that’s all that needed to be done!

STEP 5

To check what the installed background looks like, you don’t have to restart your computer (laptop), just press the key combination Win+L (see example below, the lock screen is now with the selected landscape) .

Picture on the lock screen // Check, everything works! (photo of lock screen)

This is how easy it is to change the background of the lock screen, no extras. There is no need to use utilities for modern Windows 10.

By the way, in the first versions of Windows 10 there was no such option. I had to resort to various tweakers, for example, Tweaks.com Logon Changer (this application will easily and quickly put the picture of your choice on your hard drive on the welcome screen).

Additions are welcome.

All the best!
