Is the app free?

Not so long agoApplemade the application free. Many people were pleased with this news. What was it? A gesture of generosity? No matter how it is. On the one hand, now you don’t need to immediately pay 169 rubles. Got a chance to try it GarageBandwithout paying a penny.

On the other hand, only a few tools in the application are free. From keyboardsavailable- Grand Piano, Electric Piano, Classic Rock Organ, Vintage Lead; fromdrums- Classic Studio Kit, Classic Drum Machine; fromguitars– Acoustic, Hard Rock. The tool is also free AudioRecorder, allowing you to record any sound or voice.

All the rest great amount We are offered to purchase tools for the same 169 rubles. As you can see, Applejust moved on to freemiumapplication version.

How to record your own songs using GarageBand?

After playing with the application, I decided that readers would be interested in learning how to actually create their own songs? Detailed instructions I didn't find it on the Internet. At first glance, the skephopormism of the tools really makes it easier to get acquainted with the program, but then everything is not so obvious.

So, first we choose any instrument we like. For example, SmartGuitar.

An image of a guitar will appear by default Acoustic. By clicking in the small window on the left side of the screen with the image of a guitar and the inscription Acoustic, you can choose another guitar. As I wrote above, the free ones are also available HardRock- guitar.

Once you've chosen your guitar, you can begin the song recording process. We press the red record button, then we start playing the guitar. I'm not good at music, so I turned on the switch on the guitar Autoplay, the guitar began to play itself, and I only periodically moved my fingers along the strings. Next, stop recording and press the button on top panel(blue menu button, as in the screenshot below). A screen appears showing one recorded track in green. To avoid confusion, a guitar is depicted on the left side of the track.

If desired, double tap on a track, will allow you to call up the editing menu: cut, copy, delete, and other actions with the track. Well, the track itself can be stretched in length or reduced.

Next, click the “plus” button at the bottom of the window to add new tracks from other instruments to our song. Select the tool again, this time, for example, GrandPiano.

By analogy with the guitar, press record and record the melody. But it's much better to press the button first Playon the top panel (triangle icon), after which the guitar track will begin to play. This will allow you to select a melody by ear on the piano that matches the previously recorded guitar track. And after that we press record and play the piano.

Stop recording and return to the screen with tracks. Now we have 2 recorded tracks: guitar and keyboard. Next we follow the same principle.

Conclusion:

DesignGarageBandpractically unchanged, which in itself is already very good. It's still one of the easiest apps to learn for creating your own music.

Want to set your own unique piece of music to your ringer? There is a simple and quick way do it right on your iPhone, . Branded will help us Apple appGarageBand.

In contact with

As you probably guessed, the first thing you should do is open or download this program. GarageBand free for new iPhone models, for older smartphones, there may be a download fee.

You can change your ringtone and text tone at any time. To do this, use your iPhone's Settings ( SoundsSounds and vibration patterns) or go to the Contacts application.

As you can see, this method presupposes the presence of certain musical abilities. Not everyone has them - but this is not always necessary. Firstly, something simple can be played using the “scientific poking method”, and the resulting result is quite suitable for text messages. And secondly, it’s just fun and you can have a good time :). And who knows, maybe this will encourage you to comprehend all the intricacies of musical art.

Good luck to you in creating your own, unique, original ringtones!

Minimum wasted time and programs used.

Some iPhone owners often think about personalizing their devices. In addition to all sorts of protective covers the design for the smartphone desktop is also selected, and standard ringtones replace own ringtones. Most users download ready-made songs, while others purchase suitable files from the iTunes Store.

As a rule, ringtones created independently meet expectations. To do this in App Store There are many programs, although everything can be done in standard GarageBand. The whole process will not take even a minute.

Create a ringtone

  • Go to the program and select any type of instrument;
  • At the top left, switch to the time scale;
  • Click the loop icon to go to song selection;
  • Go to the “Music” tab and find the desired track.

  • Hold down the name of the song until it appears in the application;
  • Select a 30-second segment of the composition to export;
  • In the left top corner select the “My songs” item in the menu;
  • Hold the ringtone until the export icon appears.

  • In the export menu, select the media file type “Ringtone”;
  • Enter the name of the composition and click “Export”;
  • After the process is completed, click “Use sound as”;
  • Specify what the resulting ringtone will be used for.

For owners of the iOS version of GarageBand, this method of creating ringtones can be considered the most optimal. Eat important nuance, requiring attention: the application does not work with files that are not locally downloaded to the iPhone. Also, the program will not import existing digital protection files. Entire media library Apple Music turns out to be completely useless in this matter. Otherwise, GarageBand does a good job of creating new ringtones.

In part 19 of a large series of articles devoted to a review of applications included in the popular iLife ’11 package, we continue the story about the GarageBand program. In this issue we will talk about the application menu, its settings, as well as the functions of importing and exporting audio materials. Let us remind you that the GarageBand application is designed for creating music and learning to play various musical instruments.
PROGRAM MENU

GarageBand is such a feature-rich application that not all of the features have been placed in the numerous panels of the work window. Some of the functions were placed in the program menu, providing fast access to them. Of the entire menu, the sections that are of greatest interest to us are Track, Management, Export and perhaps Window. We will tell you about them now.

  • Track

If you read the last issue of the review dedicated to the GarageBand interface, you should remember the existence of a master track, which is initially hidden from the user, although it exists in every project. In order to display it in the list of other tracks, it is not at all necessary to dive into the jungle of settings in the track properties panel (we also mentioned it in the last issue) - you can do it much simpler and turn on the display of the master track using the line of the same name in the section Track program menu ( Track -> Show master track), or use the shortcut indicated to the right of the menu item name. By the way, any function listed in the application menu has its own shortcut, and if the user has the patience to learn and remember all the shortcuts, then he will be able to avoid looking at the menu at all in search of this or that function.

In the same section of the menu you can enable display arrangement tracks. At least three definitions of arrangement are known, but in relation to GarageBand, this term refers to the activity of selecting the tempo of a melody, its style, size, timbre - in general, everything that is associated with finalizing the melody.
Show podcast tracks or film will allow without changing current mode work, start creating a podcast or soundtrack to the film. Function multi-channel recording will allow you to simultaneously record several tracks at once, rather than one by one for each instrument.

Paragraph Show track lock will allow you to block or unblock a track with one click on a special icon that will appear in the mini-toolbar of each track. Blocking will protect the regions of the track from editing and the processing process will be carried out by placing the track on the hard drive, thereby unloading CPU Maca.

  • Control

Section items Control generally duplicate similar functions available in the program toolbar, but among them there are some functions, for example, muting, which can only be accessed from this section.

Mute function adds another button to the mini-toolbar of each track, allowing you to turn on/off the priority function for this track or for other tracks with a mouse click.

Here you can assign automation curves to regions, as well as select one or another pre-made setting for a track when recording a “live” guitar.

  • Export

We will look at the options for exporting finished audio material, and there are 6 types of them, just below, when reviewing the import/export functions.

  • Window

The section is notable in that it allows you to call virtual or music keyboard panel in any mode of operation of GarageBand, not just in Piano, in which that panel is initially available.

The musical keyboard seemed to us more convenient than the virtual one and, in our opinion, is the best alternative, if you don’t have a USB or MIDI keyboard at hand.

Using the menu item Window -> Notepad, you can call up a small panel Notepad, which allows you to take text notes on the current project.

APPLICATION SETTINGS MENU

The GarageBand settings menu is quite simple and does not contain any important settings and therefore it is quite possible to do without pre-configuring the application. However, the tabs are of most interest Audio/MIDI And Add-ons.

  • Audio/MIDI

Configures the audio inputs/outputs and key sensitivity of the keyboard when used as synthesizer keys.

  • Add-ons

The settings located in this tab allow you to manage automatic sound normalization when exporting projects, as well as set the quality of recorded and exported audio material.

If you start pre-setting GarageBand to suit your interests, then you need to start with these tabs.

IMPORT FUNCTIONS

With imports, everything is quite conservative. Projects are imported on a special tab Assistant, or in the GarageBand program menu, through the items File -> Open or File -> Open Recently Used.

Import of audio files of compatible formats is carried out through the panel Media browser(from the iTunes library), or more simply - by dragging it onto the application window, and a separate track will be created for each added one.

EXPORT FUNCTIONS

The functions for exporting finished tracks are more varied and have 6 options, any of which can be selected in the section Export program menu. The projects themselves are saved in the usual manner, through menu items File -> Save or File -> Save As...

  • Submit a song to iTunes. Allows you to export the created musical composition V iTunes library, to the music section. Before starting the export process, you can set the name of the iTunes playlist to which the exported object will automatically be added, as well as enter the names of the artist, composer and album name. By default, the track is exported uncompressed, but if desired, it can be compressed using AAC or MP3 codecs. For each codec there are several ready-made settings presets, but, if desired, the user can independently set necessary settings audio compression.

  • Send ringtone to iTunes. When creating ringtones in GarageBand, keep in mind that the ringtone must consist of a repeating part of the song lasting no more than 40 seconds. If the condition is met, then when choosing this option export, the ringtone will be automatically processed and sent to the iTunes library, in the ringtones section. If the length of the track exceeds the specified one, the user will be asked to independently change its length, or give the program the right to determine the fragment of the track for export. At automatic selection As a rule, the first 40 seconds of the track are marked for export, but the user can always adjust the choice of application.

  • Submit a podcast to iWeb. Ability to export the newly created podcast to the iWeb application for use when creating a website. The track is exported only with compression (AAC, MP3), encoding settings are similar to those used when exporting an audio track to an iTunes library.
  • Send movie to iDVD. If a user uses GarageBand to create sound design for a movie or video, the output video file with the updated soundtrack can be transferred to the iDVD application for later DVD creation disk with it. None additional settings is not provided when exporting a film.
  • Export song/movie to disk. This name hides the function of exporting a finished audio or video track as a file to any folder hard drive. The options for customizing output audio formats are similar to the settings for the export options described above. When exporting video, the user can select any of 6 possible presets ( Email, web, web-streaming, iPod, AppleTV, high quality ), or use own settings compression.

  • Burn a song to CD. Possibility to burn the finished track to a CD in AudioCD format. GarageBand can clean up rewritable discs and after recording, do not finalize the disc, thereby leaving the possibility of adding files.

That's all for today, and in the next issue of the review we will talk about practical application GarageBand - work in one of the available modes.
