It only costs an iPhone 8. Communication between devices on mobile networks is carried out using technologies that provide different data transfer rates. Mobile communication technologies and data transfer speeds

One of Apple's new products is the iPhone 8 smartphone. The gadget was first shown at the company's annual presentation in September 2017. In addition to the standard eight, the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X models were presented in Cupertino.

Even though the iPhone 8 is not a flagship, that hasn't stopped it from becoming one of Apple's best-selling smartphones ever. Let's look at what is special about this device, as well as the technical characteristics of the iPhone 8, an overview of the interface, camera, design and performance test.

Specifications

After the release of the iPhone 7, Apple decided not to release the 7s model, but went straight to the eighth generation. This move is explained by new technologies, functions and design of the smartphone. All options are superior to previous models.

Unboxing

The smartphone is delivered in a classic white box with the Apple logo and the name of the device. The iPhone 8 package remains the same as previous phone models.

Full list of box contents:

  • iPhone 8 device;
  • Charger;
  • Lightning USB cable;
  • Ear Pods;
  • SIM clip;
  • Adapter for connecting headphones to the Lightning port;
  • Instructions;
  • Set of branded stickers.

As you know, Apple stopped adding a standard headphone jack back in the iPhone 7. Along with the presentation of the seventh generation of smartphones, Tim Cook presented Air Pods wireless headphones.

Many users expected that the new headset would be included with the iPhone 8, since the corporation has repeatedly announced the end of the era of wired accessories. But it turned out to be unprofitable for Apple to add headphones for more than $200 to a standard box.

Assembly and design

At first glance, the iPhone 8 looks like a very compact and neat smartphone. Its design is no different from the 8 Plus model. The body is made of aluminum and glass.

If in previous models designers focused specifically on aluminum, now this material fades into the background. The back cover is made entirely of durable tempered glass. Because of this, the gadget acquired new characteristic differences. The case shines beautifully in the sun, gets dirty less and fits well in the hand. Also, scratches on glass are less noticeable than on aluminum.

The front frames of the case are made of aluminum. This makes the ends of the smartphone durable and resistant to most physical damage. At the bottom there is a screen unlock button with built-in Touch ID. This is likely the last generation of iPhone to use a fingerprint scanner, as the iPhone X now has Face ID.

At the top we see the front camera, proximity sensor, microphone and earpiece.

On the side faces there are power and volume buttons. Their appearance and functionality have not changed in any way. Everything is done in the best Apple traditions.

Among the disadvantages of the new design, users note the glass back cover. Although it looks beautiful and stylish, glass has an almost 100% guarantee that it will break if dropped. Repairs will cost a pretty penny. Official Apple service centers charge $349 for replacing the back panel of the phone. You will have to be very careful with your iPhone 8 or buy protective bumper cases.

Available colors:

  • Silver;
  • Gold;
  • Space Gray;
  • Red (Product RED) – limited edition.

The case of the light shades of the iPhone 8 practically does not get dirty. At least upon close inspection, fingerprints and minor scratches are not visible. The Space Gray version cannot boast of such indicators. Against a dark background, all dirt stands out strongly.

Screen

The display quality of the iPhone 8 is no different from the seven. Same resolution and color. Apple has already released new solutions with the anniversary iPhone X.

The pixel density of 1334 by 750 is quite decent for a 4.7-inch screen. It is almost impossible to see individual pixels, so the image clarity, although not ideal, is quite decent.

The iPhone 8 has support for 3D Touch, a technology that recognizes the type of taps on the screen. Also, the DCI-P3 color gamut is used, there is a True Tone function (realistic transmission of all shades) and Night mode for convenient reading in the dark.

Camera

The cameras are no different from those used in the seven. The main sensor has a resolution of 12 MP, the front one – 7 MP. The only difference between the cameras of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 is the Slow Sync flash that the new phone has. It allows you to better determine the ambient light level and makes photos brighter without flare.

Examples of photos taken with the main camera of the iPhone 8 show that the smartphone does an excellent job of taking pictures in light and dark. The colors are very realistic, there is good focusing and no blur:

As for the video mode, the iPhone 8 camera outperforms previous models in this. A 4K video recording mode is now available. If you plan to frequently shoot and edit videos on your iPhone, we recommend that you immediately take care of having accounts in different clouds or buy a 256 GB smartphone, since high-quality videos take up a lot of space in the device’s memory.

The 7 MP front camera also shows good shooting results. Selfies are clear and there are several useful filters for color correction. If you're used to editing photos or setting camera settings manually, you'll have to download additional apps from the App Store.

Front camera shot (on the left – without a filter, on the right – using a standard filter):

Battery

The 1821 mAh battery is a rather modest characteristic compared to modern smartphones. But Apple is good at increasing battery life through the perfect combination of software and technical components.

The iPhone 8 battery lasts more than a day without recharging, provided that you use the Internet and make calls over the cellular network. If you plan to watch videos often, you will have to charge the gadget more often.

Also, iPhone 8 supports fast charging and is compatible with Air Power, an external wireless charging station. It is enough to place the gadget on the flat Air Power case to begin the process of filling the battery level.

Performance

The performance of the smartphone is provided by the A11 Bionic chip, which is the latest development from Apple. The processor has 6 cores - 2 active and 4 cores that operate in standby mode and are loaded only as needed. For example, when you run several applications at the same time or turn on a game with complex graphics. This allows rational use of battery life and lowers the temperature of the device.

2 GB of RAM is enough for both everyday tasks and games. The benchmark results show 10092 points on multiple cores and 4210 points on a single core. This result is even better than the 8 Plus model.

Sound

Numerous iPhone 8 reviews show a sound test of the smartphone. Music sounds equally good at both low and high frequencies. The speaker copes well with tracks of different genres. The conversational microphone conveys the owner's voice realistically. No noises, wheezing or other third-party sounds are observed.

Smartphones and Apple headsets have no problems with sound. You can get high-quality sound even with standard Ear Pods. They are quite strong and durable.

For those who want to keep up with the latest technology, it is recommended to buy Air Pods of the first or second generation. They're expensive, but with a headset like this you get more hands-free control over your playback.

Interface

The operating system on the iPhone 8 is iOS 11. This OS is the latest from Apple. Immediately after setting up your phone for the first time, you will be prompted to install new versions of the eleventh system.

Among the interface features are improved user interaction, support for new gestures and voice commands when working with the Siri assistant. Also, in Cupertino they finally finalized the settings window, made the auto-brightness mode available and slightly changed the arrangement of elements in the Control Center.

Other Features

Other features and characteristics of the iPhone 8 include support for the IP67 standard. It makes the case waterproof and protects it from sand getting into the lid. Note that the gadget can stay at a shallow depth (up to a meter) for only 30 minutes. Longer "swims" can lead to breakdown.

Also, the smartphone has a built-in NFC chip. With its help, you can use the Apple Pay wallet and contactless payment mode.

Detailed video reviews of iPhone 8 in Russian:

Bottom line

iPhone 8 is a worthy new smartphone from Apple. If you need a phone primarily for fast work, and you are not chasing the best characteristics, this device is for you. Those who want to buy a smartphone with the best screen or are determined to take perfect photos are advised to take a closer look at the iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X.

The new generation of Apple's line of Apple smartphones in 2017 received the names: iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, instead of the expected ones - iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus. Why did this happen? No one knows. Perhaps Apple has decided to change the traditions regarding the names of its smartphones and who knows if we will ever see the S-series or any iPhone again. Well, in the meantime, let's check out the new features and other features that make the iPhone 8 unique and cool compared to other smartphones in 2017. Let's start the iPhone 8 review, let's go!

Appearance and Design

The design of the iPhone 8 remains unchanged. This is still the same iPhone 7, only in a glass case instead of aluminum. Apple decided not to bother with a new design, but simply focused on new technologies concentrated in the device itself. Thus, wireless charging appeared in the iPhone 8, thanks to the rear panel of the smartphone, which is made entirely of glass. The glass allows waves to pass through, which can charge the battery in the device. An aluminum lid would not provide the same result.

So, the front and back of the iPhone 8 consists of durable scratch-resistant glass, which is coated with an oleophobic coating. And what about the side, at the end? The legendary metal frame made of aerospace-grade aluminum, which we still remember from the iPhone 4 / 4S. Thus, the design returned to 2010, when the Quartet was released. It’s strange, Apple abandoned this idea earlier, switched to metal monolithic cases, and now they’ve returned to the old way again. Have we really run out of ideas for innovation? Well, otherwise, the iPhone 8 remained the same as the iPhone 7. They didn’t cut out the Lightning connector, although they did add wireless charging. You can charge it from it too. The 3.5 mm audio jack was not returned, but this is obvious. All buttons and holes are in place.

iPhone 8 received only three colors: black, silver and gold. The rose gold and black matte colors are no longer available. At the same time, the standard colors have also changed, for example: black - similar to Space Grey; and the gold one is more reminiscent of the Champagne color that was used to paint the “type” gold cases for the iPhone 5 at one time; the silver color has become brighter, it has become lighter. Well, it’s good that Apple decided to make the iPhone 8 in only three colors – like before.

Apple claims that the glass is very durable, that such glass has never been seen in iPhones before! And I don’t know whether you can believe this or not, but I think we’ll all soon find out when we get new iPhones and start dropping them. I remember the days of the iPhone 4, how every second owner had a “beautiful” cobweb on the back panel. And thanks to the durable and tightly welded case, the iPhone 8 received an IP67 degree of moisture protection according to the IEC 60529 standard and, like the iPhone 7, the iPhone 8 can be washed under the tap. Of course, I don’t recommend doing this, I wouldn’t do this myself, but if we drop the iPhone 8 into water, we have some kind of guarantee that it will work as before.

Display

Thanks to the retained design, the iPhone 8 display has not undergone any significant changes. It remains the same as in the iPhone 7. Except for some internal nuances. The new display is made using LCD IPS technology, thanks to which the viewing angle has become wider and the maximum brightness has increased to 625 nit. There is also support for the DCI-P3 color space, which provides more accurate color reproduction and support for the HDR10 standard.

In the iPhone 8, the display has a diagonal of 4.7 inches and a density of 326 ppi, and in the iPhone 8 Plus it is 5.5″ and 401 ppi. And of course, 3D Touch technology, without which there is no escape, is a useful and signature feature of the iPhone. The most important innovation of the iPhone 8 display was the introduction of the True Tone function, as in the iPad Pro. The color temperature of the display adjusts to the ambient light, due to which our eyes will be less tired from reading or playing games. Previously, this effect was achieved through a function in iOS, but now it is built into the hardware.

Iron

CPU

iPhone 8 is equipped with a top-end 6-core A11 Bionic processor, which is made using a 10-nanometer process technology. Also, the iPhone 8 has a built-in M11 motion processing coprocessor and a neural engine. The iPhone 8 GPU has 3 cores. Previously, there was some stability in terms of increasing power in iPhones. Now the performance of hardware in iPhones is growing every year. For a long time, iPhone processors had 2 cores, and only in the recent iPhone 7 was it decided to install 4 core processors. And a year later, iPhone 8 already has 6 cores. But this is not surprising, because every year many serious innovations appear in new iPhones that need to be somehow processed. That's why multithreading is needed.

RAM

The RAM in the iPhone 8 is 2 GB, and in the iPhone 8 Plus it is 3 GB. No changes here. The predecessor had everything the same. The new hardware will be able to handle the operation of the device’s camera, wireless charging, and the overall operation of the entire device well. The hardware of the eighth iPhone will be able to run the most advanced and resource-intensive games. I already want GTA 4 on iOS.

Persistent memory

The iPhone 8 has 64 GB of memory in the minimum configuration, and 256 GB in the maximum configuration. The iPhone 7 had 32, 128 and 256 GB, the question is: where did the variation with 128 GB of memory go and why are there only two options available? Apparently this is another departure from Apple traditions this year.

Battery

The lithium-ion battery of the iPhone 8 received a capacity of 1821 mAh, and the iPhone 8 Plus – 2675 mAh, from which you can see that the battery capacities have become smaller than those of their predecessors. Why is that? It's simple. Nobody in the world, not even Apple, is worried about the autonomy of their devices. They don’t want to increase the size of devices in order to fit a more powerful battery into them. Therefore, we just have to wait until they develop super-capacitive batteries for smartphones. However, there is no need to be upset. The iPhone 8 will last as long as the iPhone 7. A day - two. This happens due to the energy efficiency of the A11 processor and high-quality optimization of iOS 11.

What’s also nice is that Apple has equipped the iPhone 8 with fast charging. This means that somewhere up to 50% battery charge can be achieved in just 30 minutes. A full 100% charge is enough for 40 hours of listening to music via a Bluetooth headset, 12 hours of surfing the Internet via Wi-Fi and 14 hours of talking on the phone via a Bluetooth headset.

Wireless charger

Finally, the iPhone has wireless charging. True, this is no longer an innovation, because today there are already smartphones that charge contactlessly. Apple was late in this regard.

This technology works thanks to the glass body. Aluminum does not transmit the necessary waves to charge the battery, so previous iPhones made of aluminum could not support this technology. One thing is not clear, why didn’t they already get rid of the Lightning connector? He's already redundant. This is not Steve Jobsky. Although everything becomes clear when you realize that Apple does not include a wireless charger in the box. To use contactless charging, you must first purchase it separately. (no comments)

iPhone 8 cameras

Main

With every new generation of iPhone, Apple improves its camera. And iPhone 8 is no exception. In the past, the iPhone 7 had a built-in dual camera that provides depth and blur, as well as 2x optical zoom. This year, Apple just slightly improved the aperture to f/1.8 in the main camera and f/2.4 in the second (body) camera. And this is a shame, because the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in 2017 has an aperture of f/1.6, which means a slight loss in terms of parameters from Apple. The iPhpne 8 camera has all the modern features that allow it to take great pictures. True Tone Quad-LED flash with Slow Sync, six-element lens, BSI sensor, hybrid IR filter, autofocus with Focus Pixels technology, and noise reduction.

Main video

The video camera in iPhone 8 can record video:

  • 4K at 24, 30 or 60 fps
  • 1080p HD video recording at 30 or 60 fps
  • 720p HD video recording at 30fps

The camera also supports optical image stabilization when shooting video, optical zoom and 6x digital zoom (iPhone 8 Plus only). A cool feature is to take photos while recording 4K video, with a resolution of 8 MP.

Frontal

The front camera has not changed, the same 7 MP, ƒ/2.2 aperture, BSI sensor, Retina Flash and automatic image stabilization. It seems that the cameras have not changed at all - that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 8 will take photographs the same way.

Conclusion

iPhone 8 is the most beautiful smartphone, one might even say that it is the best and most beautiful among all iPhones in their entire history. And it has no equal in terms of power and quality. But it’s somehow not clear why Apple decided to change traditions and, after the seventh iPhone, release the eighth, and not the 7S. It is also not clear where the third model with average memory went, or why the charging connector is present if there is wireless charging and headphones. Apple is trying to take small steps in terms of innovation, which is why it has been losing out to its competitors lately. What will happen next?

How much does iPhone 8 cost???

For those who need bare data and facts. Without any cat, it's a spoiler. How much do iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 10 cost? This is the question that worries me the most. We go to the official website www.apple.com/ru/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-8 and see prices for iPhones in Russia: iPhone 8 - From 56,990 rubles, iPhone 8 Plus - From 64,990 rubles, iPhone X — From 79,990 rub.

For those who like a little letters, read the extract and look at the infographics from the official website.

You can certainly surprise your friends by purchasing a copy.

On September 12, 2017, Apple held another presentation of its products. They showed and talked about the set-top boxes for television Apple TV, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, the main surprise was the iPhone 10 X (yes, ten, not X) and about the new Apple Watch 3.

You can connect a headset to the watch. Siri will now respond with a voice, rather than modest messages on the screen. On previous versions there was a response only in text. The design has not been changed. Does perfection require no change? As Apple likes to simply explain, the processor has become 80% faster, better and works. An electronic SIM card is integrated into the case. There is a built-in antenna under the screen. You can seriously think about purchasing this device. This may seem like a small thing at first glance. But this is the niche of those people who are chasing minimalism. These people will sacrifice everything for the sake of size. Even degrading push-button phones are more interesting for them than touch-sensitive “bricks” and “shovels”

Here comes the iPhone. Yes, as many as three. Two are painfully familiar in glass shirts, and the third is definitely a newcomer, whom everyone will now look at and copy the original screen without a twinge of conscience. Not even entirely aesthetic. Changed colors. They have become even more beautiful and unusual.

The body is said to be made of durable glass. Down with aluminum! Probably, it was the only thing that prevented me from charging my iPhone wirelessly for 5 years. But this is a minus more than a plus. Due to the metal body, it could bend. And now? And now it will irrevocably crack and crumble? Progress requires sacrifice. So far they don’t know how to charge equipment with a magnetic field.

The iPhone has never had such durable glass on both sides. The frame matches the body and is made of aerospace-grade aluminum. Three colors to choose from: space grey, silver and gold.

There won't be a 7S, there won't be a 7S Plus either. Great move by Apple. There is a lot of new things even in the name changes. Will there be a completely new design? A regular restyling with a minor change? Apple fans can tell you in detail how it is radically different and that it is different. Dust and waterproof, don’t forget that. And this is very good.

A new 6-core processor will help you work longer. 4 cores are more powerful for gaming and entertainment. The other 2 are for normal operation in idle mode, when the only loads are to call and write.

Added performance. Several technologies, but still this is a good update of the old rather than conceptually new. Bluetooth 5.0 is important and interesting. Another good thing is that the graphics coprocessor will now be a proprietary Apple one.

12 MP camera, new matrix, new filters, optical stabilization. Now augmented reality in games and in reality. For example, you can find out what constellation is in the sky by turning on the camera and pointing it into space. Well, or run around an empty table, but on the iPhone screen this surface will turn into a real game. Augmented reality is also used for regular photos using the front and rear cameras.

By the way, it won’t be surprising if augmented reality surprises you with something else. For example, it is a paradise for designers and artists. Why not use this in the selection of interiors? Or to decorate the facade? I pointed the camera, and she showed you everything and offered it to you. Even choosing a hairstyle is convenient and quick.

After the first year of testing iPhone 8 and 8 plus, we can already draw conclusions about the pros and cons of the model. The impression is positive; under the not-so-new body is hidden a powerful machine that has shown itself positively in different operating conditions.

Before drawing conclusions, let’s remember the characteristics of the iPhone 8 and 8 plus:

  1. iPhone 8 size – 138.4x67.3x7.3 mm, weight – 148 g; iPhone 8 plus – 158.4x78.1x7.5 mm, weight – 202 g.
  2. Widescreen LCD display, Retina HD, Multi‑Touch function with IPS technology. In iPhone 8, the resolution is 1337x750 pixels, the contrast is 1400:1. In iPhone 8 plus – 1920x1080 pixels, 1300:1. Supports True Tone auto white balance function.
  3. IP67 dust and waterproof rating.
  4. A11 Bionic with neural brain.
  5. Camera 12 megapixels. 10x digital zoom. Record 1080p HD video at 30 or 60 fps.
  6. Touch ID.
  7. FaceTime video calls over Wi-Fi or cellular.
  8. Supports HEVC, MPEG‑4 Part 2, H.264 and Motion JPEG video formats.
  9. Lithium-ion battery, iPhone 8 capacity 1821 mAh, iPhone 8 plus – 2675 mAh.
  10. Operating system iOS 12.

Apple continues to work on optimizing smartphones for people with disabilities and health problems. iPhone 8 and 8 Plus feature accessibility features. Thanks to special options, a person with visual or hearing impairments can customize the controls to suit themselves: use a magnifying glass, dictation, subtitles, and read the screen out loud.

Equipment

A description of the iPhone 8 and 8 plus would not be complete without a list of accessories for the smartphone. Unfortunately, the tradition of a small box with minimal filling was followed this time too. The gadget comes with:

  • standard charger with Lightning cable;
  • headphones with Lightning connector;
  • adapter from Lightning to standard 3.5 mm;
  • a paperclip for prying up a SIM card;
  • screen film;
  • instructions.

Until the last minute, fans of Apple gadgets hoped that a wireless charging device would be included in the package. But the company never released its own docking stations, so those who want to take advantage of the cool new feature will have to look for charging outside. Engineers equipped smartphones with Qi technology; any device with the same expansion is suitable for charging.

Weight and size

The iPhone 8 and 8+ have undergone subtle changes in size and weight, but for a complete analysis even such little things are important:

  1. The weight of iPhone 8 is 148 g, which is 10 g more than the previous model, 8+ is “fat” by 8 g.
  2. The length of the iPhone 8 has increased by 1 mm, the thickness by 2 mm.

Changes in weight and dimensions occurred due to the appearance of the wireless charging function, as well as due to a change in the material of the rear panel. Instead of aluminum, the lid is now made of tempered glass.

Updated design?

Every year, lovers of Apple gadgets expect something revolutionary, and every year they are disappointed. Yes, there are few external changes in iPhone 8 and 8 plus:

  1. The back cover is now made of tempered glass.
  2. The company logo on the reverse side has shifted slightly.
  3. Three body colors are available: “Gold”, “Silver”, “Space Grey”. A limited edition red series of smartphones was released.

If Apple did not make major changes to the appearance of the next model, then this was necessary to achieve a goal other than a pair of “Wow!” from users. The design of iPhone 8 is a legacy of the style of the last ten years of the company's work; the model became a transition point between the old and new generations of smartphones. The role of the flagship was given to the iPhone X, and the “eight” was a pleasant surprise for fans of the usual design. The iPhone 7 case embodies the latest achievements of engineering.

Waterproof

Like the “seven,” the iPhone 8 received an IP67 rating according to a standard that determines the smartphone’s resistance to solid objects and water. The model is protected to the maximum from dust, as indicated by the number 6. But with water resistance, everything is not so simple. A value of 7 means the following:

  • the device can be in water for 30 minutes without damaging the electronics;
  • immersion depth 1.5 m.

As a result, iPhone 8 cannot be called waterproof; only devices with ratings of 8 and 9 are called that. The Apple smartphone is rather water-resistant and can withstand short-term exposure to water and moisture. Moreover, liquids with a different consistency are doubly destructive. If sweet coffee, tea or soda gets in contact, you must immediately clean the surface.

Memory

iPhone 8 received 2 GB of RAM, 8+ respectively 3 GB. The memory of the iPhone 8 has not changed in digital terms compared to the previous model, but the performance and other functions of the smartphone have improved. Causes:

  1. A processor with a neural brain that analyzes, learns, and searches for optimal options for using data.
  2. 6 cores distribute and simultaneously solve many tasks.
  3. iOS 12 has become faster to process and respond to requests.

Traditionally, the capacity of the iPhone 8 and 8 plus is 65 GB or 256 GB, depending on the configuration and price. Practice has shown that 2 GB of RAM and 65 GB of memory are enough to load “heavy” games and complex programs with the augmented reality function.

Battery capacity

The battery in iPhones remains the most talked about part. Today, the requirements for the battery are not so stringent; if a smartphone dies only in the evening, it’s already a holiday. Therefore, the news that the iPhone 8 battery was no longer 139 mAh smaller than on the “seven” (1821 mAh versus 1960 mAh) aroused indignation.

The reason for the reduction in battery capacity of the iPhone 8 is that wireless charging and other elements have been added to the case. But you shouldn’t be upset, the manufacturers promised that the difference will be compensated by better optimization of the smartphone.

As a result, in the very first months of testing, the iPhone received positive ratings among developers and ordinary users. When compared with the “seven”, the eighth series gadgets performed no worse, and sometimes even better, than the previous model.

Charging in a new way

Back in the 90s and 00s, wireless charging was only in the arsenal of superheroes and heroes of science fiction films. And today, every year, the range of smartphones that support charging through inductive energy transfer is expanding. iPhone 8 and 8 plus were the first in the Apple line to receive this technology. Advantages of wireless charging:

  • quick replenishment of energy volume, 100% battery in 30-40 minutes;
  • no wires;
  • charging from a distance.

iPhones 8 and 8 plus are currently only equipped with a regular charger. The company will begin its own production of docking stations in September - October 2018. For now, the user is offered to purchase devices from other manufacturers. Fortunately, iPhones support the Qi transmission protocol, on the basis of which all such devices operate.

New generation of processors

Today, A11 Bionic is the most powerful and intelligent processor for smartphones. Some cores work for performance, some for energy efficiency. What does it give:

  1. In multitasking mode, the gadget works 3-4 times faster than previous models.
  2. Optimizing games and augmented reality applications.
  3. Even with intensive use, energy consumption is minimal.

The main feature of the A11 Bionic is the learning ability of the processor. It does not easily pass a signal through itself, but remembers it, correlates it with others and develops a work strategy. If this continues, the emergence of artificial intelligence will only be a matter of time.

WiFi

Wireless LAN technology today is present in almost any device that contains microcircuits. It is possible to develop here only in the direction of increasing speed and expanding areas of use.

Wi-Fi iPhone 8 is represented by the 802.11ac standard with MIMO technology, which increases signal throughput. In iPhone 8 and 8 plus, Wi-Fi performs the following functions:

  • for data transmission;
  • to connect to the Internet;
  • to determine geoposition;
  • for video communication.

In previous Apple models, frequent complaints from owners are related to Wi-Fi not working: it is impossible to connect to the network, the password is not accepted, the Internet is slow. The problem is solved by updating to the latest software version. Back in iOS 11, the vulnerability problems of the Wi-Fi chip on iPhones were solved, and in iOS 12 even more so.

Headphone jack

Everyone has become somewhat accustomed to the fact that iPhones now offer headphones exclusively with a Lightning connector. Although at first this decision by Apple irritated users. Despite the universal hype, the reasons for changes in the format of listening to music are serious.

If with a 3.5 mm jack the sound quality depended on the device and listening means, now the functions of a digital-to-analog converter are embedded in the headphones themselves. Accessory manufacturers have the opportunity to create a product with their own settings. True, the cost of a decent product will be appropriate.

Professional camera in your pocket

The camera capabilities of the iPhone are one of the reasons for the popularity of the smartphone. And here the G8 did not disappoint and worthily continued the tradition of stunning pictures of Apple models.

Advantages of the camera in iPhone 8 and 8 plus:

  • larger matrix;
  • optical stabilization during photo and video shooting;
  • many image processing functions, including advanced portrait effects;
  • convenient scaling control;
  • video recording in 4K format, possible frame rates of 24, 30 and 60 frames per second;
  • 2x optical and 6x digital zoom;
  • the ability to record slow-motion videos at 120 and 240 frames per second.

Thanks to a more powerful processor, image processing takes 70% less time than on the “seven”. Apple placed special emphasis on portrait photos. The mode now supports several cool effects, the list of which continues to grow.

Display

The main characteristics that Apple has equipped with the iPhone 8 and 8 plus display are similar to those of the previous model: a wide-format LCD display with support for Multi‑Touch and IPS technology, which provides a maximum viewing angle and excellent color reproduction.

The iPhone 8 screen has a size of 4.7 inches and a resolution of 1337x750, the model 8+ has a corresponding 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Everything is the same as the “seven” except for the support of new technology – True Tone. This program, using sensors, constantly measures the level of lighting indoors and outdoors, and based on this data it adjusts the white balance on the screen.

What are the advantages of the program:

  • regardless of the time of year and location, the image on the screen is presented as printed on paper;
  • changes in color ratio occur instantly, almost imperceptibly to the human eye.

True Tone adjusts even to bright lighting, so you'll no longer have to squint trying to see lines on the screen outside at midday.

Speaker

According to the manufacturer, the iPhone 8 speaker is 25% more powerful and louder than previous models. But that’s not what impressed users; the sound quality improved significantly when listening with and without headphones. The developers have removed noise, wheezing and other unpleasant sound distortions, so iPhone 8 is pleasant to listen to even at maximum volume. Changes are also noticeable in relation to the bass; now they sound richer and brighter.

Firmware

Apple operating systems are improving every year. Each subsequent OS took into account the errors of the previous one, so the evolution of modern technologies can be traced based on the characteristics of iPhone software.

A year ago, the iPhone 8 iOS 11 firmware was considered an achievement of the company's developers. In June 2018, the beta version of iOS 12 was launched and received positive reviews almost immediately. What has changed in the software:

  • tactile sensations from using the sensor have improved;
  • data processing speed has increased;
  • Working with multiple tabs has become easier and faster.

The problems of iOS 11 were fixed: freezing of augmented reality applications, “heavy” games, bugs when opening Internet pages. Famous bloggers and IT experts spoke in favor of updating the firmware.

Face ID

One of the main features of the iPhone is a specific way of personalization. If in smartphones from other companies data protection is represented by standard security settings options: a code, a special picture or word, then in the iPhone it’s a show.

Face ID or face scanner was developed and introduced by Apple in 2017. The technology has replaced the Touch ID sensor or fingerprint identification. Information about the mathematical image of a face will be stored on the processor and will be inaccessible to ill-wishers.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 8 did not receive Face ID, since the program was developed for the new generation of smartphones. The first model with facial recognition was the iPhone X.

Identification sensor

In iPhone 8, the old and already familiar method of recognition remains - using a fingerprint. Moreover, the model was the last for Apple to use a Touch ID scanner; subsequent smartphones are doomed to have no frames, no Home button, and will have to be unlocked using a face photo.

Settings

After purchasing a new smartphone, the question arises about its activation. A common problem is transferring information, files and music from a previous device.

Instructions on how to set up iPhone 8:

  1. After turning on, a greeting will appear on the screen, move the word “Hello” to the right.
  2. Select the appropriate one from the list of languages.
  3. Turn on your Wi-Fi or cellular network and geolocation feature.
  4. Set your fingerprint on the Touch ID screen.
  5. Create an access code.
  6. Select the "Applications and data" option and transfer the old data.
  7. Next, identify yourself using a password.
  8. Set up Siri technology.

The last stage of setup is transferring data from a previous Apple or Android device. Make sure the files are downloaded to the new device.

Price

The cost of the treasured smartphone depends on the presence or absence of the “plus” prefix, the color of the case and the amount of built-in memory. The cost of Athos 8 plus with 256 GB will be 69-71 thousand rubles, whereas a year ago sales started at 80 thousand rubles. The price dropped by 30% in 9-10 months.

It is worth giving credit to Apple, who know how to sell products better than anyone in the world. The cost of iPhone 8 at 40-60 thousand rubles could seem to be an obstacle to mass sales, because in Russia this amount for the majority is equal to two months’ salary. Fortunately, loans and installment plans have already been invented.

It’s difficult to categorically answer the question whether the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are worth the expense. Rumors about the quality and superiority of the gadget over others are justified. But when buying, you need to correctly assess your strengths and not allow a digital gadget to become a cause of financial difficulties.

This year, the new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X arrived in Russia much earlier than usual - the older model arrived in the Russian Federation with the “first wave”. However, this did not have a positive effect on Russian prices, and if before this the price tag for new iPhones was simply surprising, now the cost of the top-end iPhone X is eye-popping. But what about iPhone prices in the rest of the world?

To find out, we analyzed prices for iPhone 8 and iPhone X (minimum configurations) in dollar and ruble equivalents in nine countries, including Russia, and came to very interesting conclusions. The countries were placed in ascending order of price - this makes the picture even clearer.

It turned out that among the countries considered, the cost of iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X in Russia was the highest. It’s no secret that not everyone can afford to buy a smartphone for 60-80 thousand rubles, but they still want to use the latest technological advances. You can, of course, use the old proven “save up” scheme, but this will probably take at least until the release of the next iPhone, and besides, you want a new smartphone now, not in a year.

Another method that many have successfully used for several years is to buy the iPhone you like in installments. Home Credit Bank provides a convenient service for selecting such goods: it has collected all the goods that are most often purchased in installments, including household appliances, electronics and, of course, smartphones.

What is the advantage of such an installment plan? First of all, you are guaranteed to receive an iPhone or any other product for the amount indicated on the site (the price is the same as in partner stores). There are no imposed insurances, markups or interest - the cost is final. In addition, the system for applying for installments is very simple, and you don’t have to go anywhere: you leave an online application, an employee comes with an agreement directly to your home or office, after which within three days you already have your treasured smartphone.

Thus, the iPhone 8 Plus can be rented in installments for six months for only 10,832 rubles per month. Essentially, you are simply relieved of the need to pay the full amount at once and break it down into equal, convenient payments.

Home Credit Bank provides a wide range of products, including smartphones from Apple of previous generations - the same iPhone SE.

And, by the way, it has a convenient application for iOS (link below), where you can see all the products in stock on your mobile device and also leave a request.
