There are no particular advantages in choosing one or another channel search method. The first, automatic, saves time, provides high accuracy, is suitable even for inexperienced users, but can occasionally make mistakes. The second, manual, requires more time and knowledge, but allows you to configure channels in more detail, including in case of poor reception quality.
If none of the methods succeed, you can use the services of a telemaster. The cost of the call will depend on the region of residence, distance from the workshop and its pricing policy. On old TV, TV channels are adjusted using special knob buttons. For most models, they are located under the switches or near the antenna connector on the back of the panel. You should look for channel frequency regulators under special covers or in drawers.

How to set up a new TV

Automatic channel tuning on TV

Turn on the receiver, the message “channels not configured” will appear on the monitor. When a TV operator adds new channels, the settings are made again; for this, the edit line is used. But even after restarting the automatic tuning, all previously recorded channels are saved, and new ones are simply added to free numbers.
If the old receiver needs to be configured in a new way, find the “Delete” entry in the menu program, confirm the action by pressing “OK” and restart the automatic setup.
Manual channel tuning
Manual tuning for television channels is definitely necessary, because the automatic one records some unsatisfactorily. For example, doubles often appear, the image is of poor quality, and there may be no sound. They are removed. But if the channel needs to be saved, you will have to do it manually. This is done like this:
- in the menu look for “Channel tuning”, “Manual tuning” and press ENTER/OK;
- select “Program” and assign numbers to the channels;
- choose a color system: PAL or SECAM, sound: 2.0 (stereo), 5.1, etc.;
- conduct a “Search” for the channel, if successful, click “Save”.
If necessary, these steps are repeated for each of the TV channels. They must be confirmed by pressing ENTER/OK.
Setting up satellite channels

Setting up digital channels

Having general knowledge and the manufacturer's instructions, it is easy to set up any TV. First, mark the lines:
- “Options”, “Automatic setup”, mark the source and press “Start”;
- hover the cursor over “Digital” and press “Start”;
- “Search mode” and “Full” option;
- enter the following data into the fields: frequency (kHz) – 314,000 (314 MHz), modulation – 256 QAM, speed – 6875 kS/s.
Modern TVs are equipped with network search, you just need to turn it on and wait. All parameters will be entered automatically. To add new digital TV channels, rescanning is done. After that they appear in the list.
Setting up TV without an antenna

Connecting Mystery TV using a receiver and antenna
Let's look at setting up digital channels on Mystery TV using the example of a set-top box from the same company. It is worth noting that the software of this receiver is no different from the Rolson operating system. Other consoles are not much different from this one either, but at some point you may have to look at the instructions.
To set up digital TV, you will need to connect a digital set-top box to the Mystery TV, and insert an antenna into it. The receiver should be connected using an HDMI cable, as it is capable of transmitting the image most clearly and with high quality. However, you can use ordinary “tulips” instead, which are often supplied with the console.
If your antenna has an amplifier, then before turning on the entire system, it must be turned off. Then you can turn it back on.
If you did everything correctly, then the start menu will appear in front of you, which will consist of seven icons at the top of the screen. Automatically you enter the Mystery installation mode.
Setting up channels
After you connect the set-top box, you will need to select the country you are in and start auto-search. If the search process takes a long time, don’t be surprised, this is normal. The multiplex searches for channels and gives them out in packs of 10-20, so you shouldn’t expect to see the list of found TV channels gradually appearing.
If your Mystery model has a built-in tuner, then all available TV channels and radio stations will be found faster. When the search process is over, you will be prompted to save everything in the TV Guide menu.
Some TVs from Mystery may vary slightly in setup. There are only three things that can happen:
- After selecting your country, you may need to set the time. Without this, the auto search may either not start, or it may not bring any results.
- After you click on “Autosearch” you will need to select Russia as the country, DTV+ATV mode and set up a quick search.
- If you select an additional search type, you will need to manually enter the frequency and speed parameters that will match your region. Thanks to this, you will be able to find more available TV channels.

I will show the example of a receiver Mystery MMP-71DT2, and like me, his software is completely identical to Rolson. If you have a different console, the principle will be the same, but you may have to look at the instructions.
How to connect everything
First, let's connect antenna to the receiver, and the receiver to the TV. Preferably via an HDMI cable, so the image quality will be as clear as possible. If there is none, then through ordinary “tulips”, they usually come complete with the console. Look at the connectors in the instructions, you will get something like this. If the antenna has an amplifier, first turn it off, then you can always turn it on.
We launch all this equipment, set-top box, antenna, TV. Select the desired video input. If everything is done correctly, you will see a start menu like this:
How to set up digital television through “auto search”
By default, the set-top box is not configured for anything, and you yourself will need to catch the channels that are broadcast in your region. The easiest way is to run an auto search.
After launching the auto search, the set-top box will think for a long time, and should find something in the end. Important: since each one is transmitted at the same frequency, you will catch channels not one at a time, but in packs of ten at once. So be patient. If in analog TV channels are caught one at a time, then a few minutes may pass, and the set-top box will search. But then all 10-20 channels will pop up immediately.
After the search is over, the set-top box will prompt you to add the found channels. If you find all 20 pieces, congratulations, the process is complete!

How to check signal quality when setting up digital TV
Check that the signal is strong enough and everything is set up well.
It's very easy to do. You should have an INFO button on your set-top box; pressing it three times displays data on the quality and intensity of the signal. Look in the instructions, it may be called differently, but it will do the same thing:

Initial setup of Mystery TV
Initially, you need to select the menu language and country of residence using the remote control for the Mystery TV. Next, you will be prompted to automatically search for channels. To start it, you need to press OK on the remote control. In the on-screen menu that appears, the search and recording of television programs will begin in the modes of analogue broadcasting ATV, digital broadcasting DTV, searching for RADIO radio channels, or recording data if they are transmitted in the received signal. The table indicates the number of programs found. The Mystery TV stores 100 television programs in analogue mode and 400 programs in digital television mode.

You can make sure that the fault is in the backlight module in this way: point a table lamp with good brightness at the screen. If you look closely and see a very pale and fuzzy image, almost just shadows, on the screen when the TV is turned on, then the picture is being formed correctly. If there is a working internal backlight, everything will work as expected.
This malfunction often appears periodically - the screen itself starts working (for a while), and then goes out again. Or rather, periodically is not the right definition. There is no cyclicity between working and faulty states. This depends both on external conditions - indoor air temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure, and on internal conditions - how deep the fault has penetrated into the elements of the backlight module. In the end, the TV will break completely and, no matter how you look at it, will have to be repaired.
