Download 50 steps to success vpr. What if I'm happy in my office job? What is "this"? How to understand what I need to do

James Altucher is an investor, serial entrepreneur, and author. In his blog, he questions established truths and offers alternatives.

Here's what it's like: I've been down a few times, I've come back to life a few times, I've done it again and again. I started new careers. People who knew me then don't know me now.

I had to change careers several times. Sometimes because my interests changed. Sometimes because I had already burned all my bridges behind me, sometimes because I desperately needed money. And sometimes simply because I hated all the people I had to work with in my old profession, or they hated me.

There are other ways to change yourself, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. It's just something that worked for me, and as I've subsequently seen, it's worked for hundreds of other people. I've seen it in interviews, in letters people have written to me, over the last twenty years. You can try too - or you may not try.

1) Changing yourself never stops.

You change yourself every day. Something is always moving. But every day you have to decide whether to go forward or go back.

2) We must start from scratch.

All categories from a past life are just vanity. Were you a doctor? Did you study at an elite university? Did you have millions? Did you have a family? Nobody cares. You have lost everything. You are a zero. Don't try to prove that you are something more.

3) You need a mentor.

Otherwise you will go to the bottom. Someone needs to show you how to move and how to breathe. But don't worry about finding a mentor (read on).

4) Three types of mentors.

Straight. The person next to you who will show you how he did it. What is this"? Wait. By the way, mentors are not gurus from films about karatekas. Most mentors will hate you.

Indirect. Books. Movies. 90% of mentoring can be achieved through books and other materials. 200–500 books equal one good mentor. Everyone asks me: “Which book should I read?” I do not know the answer. You will find from 200 to 500 good books that you should read. Read inspiring books. Whatever your beliefs, strengthen them every day through reading.

A mentor is anything. If you're at your lowest point and eager to change yourself, everything you look at will become a metaphor for what you want to achieve. The tree you see and the roots you don't see with underground water feeding it is a metaphor computer programming, if you tie everything together. And everything you look at will link together.

5) If you don't have a passion for something, don't worry.

You have a passion for health. Start with this. Take small steps. You don't need passion to succeed. Do your work with love and success will be a natural symptom.

6) It will take five years to change yourself.

Here's how these years will go:

First year: you rush around, read everything and just start doing something.

Second year: you know who to talk to, who to build connections with. You do business every day. You see a map of your future travels.

Third year: you are already good enough to make money. But maybe they are not enough to live on yet.

Fourth year: you earn good money.

Fifth year: you make a fortune.

Sometimes years 1-4 make me upset. I think: “Why won’t it happen?” I punch the wall, it hurts, I throw a coconut on the floor, this is such a strange ritual. This is fine. Just keep going. Or stop and select a new field. It doesn't matter. In the end you will die anyway, and then it will be difficult to change.

7) If you do it faster or slower, then you are doing something wrong.

A good example is Google.

8) The point is not about the money. But money is a normal indicator.

When people say “it's not about the money,” they should come up with another metric to measure it.

“Or maybe just do what you love?” There will be many days when you will not be happy with what you are doing. If you are just doing it for the love of it, it will take much longer than five years.

Happiness is just a positive feeling in the brain. Some days you will be unhappy. Our brain is a tool. It doesn't define us.

9) When you can say: “X is my business!” (Is X your new profession?)

10) When can I start doing X?

Today. If you want to be an artist, buy a canvas and paints, start buying your 500 books one by one, and start painting. If you want to write, do these three things:

– read;

If you want to start a business, start developing a business idea. Changing yourself starts today. Every day.

11) How will I earn money?

By the third year, you will have invested 5,000–7,000 hours into your new business. That's enough to be in the top 200 or top 300 worldwide, whatever your field. And if you are in the top 200, then in almost any field this is enough to earn a living.

By the third year you will already know how to make money. By the fourth year, you will be able to scale up and really make money. Some people stop at the fourth year.

12) By the fifth year you will be in the top 30 or at least the top 50, so you can make a fortune.

13) What is “this”? How do I understand what I need to do?

This is any area in which you feel able to read 500 books. Go to the store and find it. If three months later you get bored, go back to the store.

It's normal to be disappointed. Then failures are needed. Success is better than failure, but the most important lessons we learn are from failure.

Very important: don’t rush. For all my interesting life many times you will be able to change yourself, and many times you will not succeed. It's fun too.

Many attempts turn your life into a story book rather than a textbook. Some people want their life to be teaching aid. My life, for better or worse, is a storybook.

That's why changing yourself happens every day.

14) The decisions you make today will be in your biography tomorrow.

Accept interesting solutions, and your biography will be interesting.

15) The decisions you make today will become part of your biology tomorrow.

16) What if I like something exotic? Biblical archeology or wars of the 11th century?

Repeat the above steps and by the fifth year you can be rich. We don't know how. There is no need to look for the end of the road when you are only taking the first steps.

17) What if my family wants me to become an accountant?

How many years of your life have you promised to give to your family? Ten? All life? Then wait for the next life. Your choice.

Choose freedom over family. Freedom, not prejudice. Freedom, not government. Freedom, not satisfying other people's needs. Then you will satisfy yours.

18) My mentor wants me to follow his path.

This is fine. Master his path. Then do it your way. Sincerely.

Luckily, no one is holding a gun to your head. Then you would have to comply with his demands until he puts the gun down.

19) My spouse is worried - who will take care of our children?

A person who changes himself always finds free time. Part of changing yourself is finding moments and reframing them in the way you would like to use them.

20) What if my friends think I'm crazy?

What kind of friends are these?

21) What if I want to be an astronaut?

This is not changing yourself. This is a specific profession. If you like space, there are many careers. Richard Branson wanted to be an astronaut and created Virgin Galactic.

22) What if I like to drink and hang out with friends?

Read this post again in a year.

23) What if I'm busy? Am I cheating on my spouse or betraying my partner?

Read this post again in two or three years, when you're broke, jobless, and disgusted by everyone.

24) What if I don’t know how to do anything at all?

Read point 2 again.

25) What if I don’t have a diploma or it’s of no use?

Read point 2 again.

26) What if I need to focus on paying off my mortgage or other loan?

Read point 19 again.

27) Why do I always feel like an outsider?

Albert Einstein was an outsider. No one in authority would hire him to work. Everyone feels like a fraud sometimes. The greatest creativity comes from skepticism.

28) I can't read 500 books. Name one book you should read for inspiration.

Drop this immediately.

29) What if I’m too sick to change myself?

The change will boost all the beneficial substances in your body: serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin. Move forward and you may not get completely better, but you will become healthier. Don't use health as an excuse.

Finally, rebuild your health first. Get more sleep. Eat better. Play sports. These are the key steps to change.

30) What if my partner set me up and I'm still getting married to him?

Drop the lawsuit and never think about him again. Half the problem was you.

31) What if I am sent to prison?

Wonderful. Re-read point 2. Read more books in prison.

32) What if I am a timid person?

Make your weakness your strength. Introverts are better at listening, focusing, and have ways of instilling self-love.

33) What if I can’t wait five years?

If you plan to be alive in five years, you can start today.

34) How to establish contacts?

Build concentric circles. You should be in the middle. The next circle is friends and family. Then - online communities. Then – people you know from informal meetings and tea parties. Then there are conference participants and authorities in their field. Then - mentors. Then there are clients and those who create wealth. Start making your way through these circles.

35) What if my ego starts getting in the way of what I'm doing?

In six months or a year you will return to point 2.

36) What if I am passionate about two things? And I can't choose?

Combine them and you will be the best in the world at this combination.

37) What if I am so passionate that I want to teach others what I am learning myself?

Read lectures on YouTube. Start with an audience of one person and see if it grows.

38) What if I want to earn money in my sleep?

In the fourth year, start outsourcing what you do.

Once you have accumulated enough knowledge (after 100-200 books), write 10 ideas for 20 different potential mentors.

None of them will answer you. Write 10 more ideas for 20 new mentors. Repeat this every week.

40) What if I can’t come up with ideas?

Then practice it. The ideological muscles tend to atrophy. They need to be pumped up.

I have a hard time reaching my toes unless I do it every day. I have to do this every day for a while before it becomes easy for me. Don't expect to have good ideas from day one.

42) What if I do everything you say, but nothing seems to work?

It will work out. Just wait. Keep changing yourself every day.

Don't try to find the end of the path. You won't be able to see it in the fog. But you can see next step, and you will realize that if you complete it, you will eventually reach the end of the path.

43) What if I start to feel depressed?

Sit in silence for an hour a day. We need to return to our essence.

If you think it sounds stupid, don't do it. Move on with your depression.

44) What if there is no time to sit in silence?

Then sit in silence for two hours a day. This is not meditation. You just have to sit.

45) What if I get scared?

Sleep 8-9 hours a night and never engage in gossip. Sleep is the first secret good health. Not the only one, but the first. Some people write to me that they only need four hours of sleep, or that in their country those who sleep a lot are considered lazy. These people will fail and die young.

As for gossip, our brains are biologically programmed to have 150 friends. And when you talk to one of your friends, you might gossip about one of the other 150. And if you don't have 150 friends, your brain will want to read gossip magazines until it thinks it has 150 friends.

Don't be as stupid as your brain.

46) What if it seems to me that I will never succeed?

Practice gratitude for 10 minutes a day. Don't suppress your fear. Notice your anger.

But also allow yourself to be grateful for what you have. Anger never inspires, but gratitude never inspires. Gratitude is the bridge between your world and parallel universe, where all creative ideas live.

47) What if I constantly have to deal with some personal squabbles?

Find other people to be around.

A person who changes himself will constantly encounter people who try to suppress him. The brain is afraid of changes - it may be unsafe. Biologically, the brain wants safety for you, and change is risk. So your brain will give you people trying to stop you.

Learn to say no.

48) What if I'm happy with mine office work?

49) Why should I trust you? You have failed so many times.

Don't trust me.

50) Will you become my mentor?

You have already read this post.

Grapes for any region. How to grow without mistakes? 50 steps to success

Introduction

Grapes are one of the most ancient garden crops. Its fruits are extremely useful. Dietary and medicinal qualities are inherent in both fresh berries and their processed products.

But it’s not so easy to choose a place to plant a vineyard, learn how to properly form a bush, install trellises and care for the garden. As a rule, you have to act intuitively and acquire knowledge through trial and error. Every experienced winegrower has his own vision, and sometimes it can be very controversial or even directly opposite to the practical experience of other people.

Unfortunately, many old vineyards were planted incorrectly. For a long time There were no books on grape growing techniques or specialized periodicals. Amateurs growing grapes personal areas, were forced to act according to their own understanding, and each subsequent generation of winegrowers copied the mistakes of their predecessors.

To achieve success in this difficult task, it is necessary to determine the most favorable conditions for the growth of the bush, under which it can produce the optimal combination of quantity and quality of the harvest. If the plant develops in suitable conditions, it will certainly please its owner with an excellent harvest. By following a few sensible recommendations, even a novice winegrower can regularly get a good harvest without having to work in the vineyard from morning to evening.

The book you are holding in your hands contains 50 main rules that will help you understand the conditions necessary for good grape growth, properly divide the plot and provide the plants with everything they need to always have a stable, and most importantly, high-quality harvest.

1. How to choose a landing site

Any winegrower knows: the terrain and soil characteristics significantly affect the yield and quality of grapes. The same variety, with the same care, will grow and bear fruit differently on steep slopes and on flat areas, on black soil and on infertile clay.

The degree of responsibility for choosing a site also increases for the reason that grapes are a perennial crop, and throughout all the years of their life they grow in the same place. It is impossible to “move” a poorly located vineyard. Unless you decide to start everything from scratch.

It is necessary to strive to choose a site that will best meet all the conditions favorable to the growth of the vine, the ripening of shoots, early harvest, and the accumulation of sugar. The grapes must also be protected from negative weather conditions, in particular from frosts and cold winds.

Old pits filled with earth and areas where buildings previously stood are perfect for placing a vineyard. The soil in such places is mixed with construction waste, stone fragments, sand, and decomposed organic remains.

When choosing a location, you need to take into account the natural and climatic conditions of the region.

Grapes are heat-loving plants, so they thrive in southern, sunny regions. The northern and middle viticulture zones are a different matter. Here it is necessary to take measures to increase heat in the vineyards. In such regions, it is recommended to plant vineyards in a spacious, free area, and plant trees and shrubs around the perimeter. It is best to use perennial low shrubs for these purposes, for example, currants or gooseberries. They will protect the vineyard from cold northern and eastern winds.

In regions with a humid climate and rainy summers, it is recommended to plant vineyards on hillsides or raised beds. This arrangement avoids excessive accumulation and stagnation of water. A hedge of perennial medium-sized shrubs should be built here too. However, the bushes should be planted far enough apart to ensure ventilation of the vineyard.

If you do not have the opportunity to provide summer watering, try to plant a vineyard in an area with high groundwater levels. The soil between rows and rows should be covered with black plastic film or mulched with grass. Such a shelter will prevent moisture from evaporating too quickly. The groundwater level should not exceed 2.5 m.

In the absence of any of the listed unfavorable climatic conditions, it is recommended to establish vineyards in areas with gentle southern and southwestern slopes. Their steepness should not exceed 10–12°. Such areas are warm and well-lit, and in winter they are less exposed to frost and cold winds. If the slope of the site exceeds 12°, terraces should be built.

It is not advisable to plant vineyards in narrow valleys or at the foot of slopes. In such areas, the risk of damage to plantings by spring and autumn frosts increases many times over. Grapes planted in lowlands and deep ravines are more often and more severely damaged by mildew.

However, in practice it is not always possible to follow these recommendations. Sometimes you have to adapt an existing plot that is not at all intended for cultivating grapes. For example, in places located at the bottom of a slope or adjacent to a ravine or road, there are usually difficulties with irrigation. To solve this problem, a device for approaching melt and rainwater to provide the grapes with moisture helps.

It should be remembered that trees growing near the future vineyard deplete the soil, drawing moisture and nutrients from it. Such a neighborhood is not very beneficial for grapes.

For a vineyard on a personal plot, choose a place that is open on the south side, and protected from the north and northeast by buildings and fruit trees.

Grapes planted near the wall are less likely to freeze and ripen earlier than their counterparts growing on plantations. Most often it is planted near the southern wall. Grapes planted near the northern, northwestern and northeastern walls are more likely to suffer from diseases. In addition, almost all nutrients “go” to the leaves.

It is advisable that the vineyard be well illuminated by the sun throughout the day. If it is located on a flat area, it is recommended to orient the planting from north to south. In this case, the grape leaves will receive more sunlight. If the vineyard is laid out on a slope, plantings are arranged across the slope. Firstly, with this layout, lighting improves, and secondly, during irrigation and rain, water with the fertile soil layer does not flow down.

2. How to divide the plot. General principles

The layout of the site is carried out after preparing the soil. This important stage creating a vineyard. Proper layout of the site is needed not only for beauty. Correctly executed, thoughtful layout of the site affects the productivity of grapes, the quality and volume of the harvest, as well as the labor costs that will be required to care for the vineyard.

The breakdown is divided into external and internal.

External layout is carried out using geodetic instruments (theodolite, goniometer, etc.). The site is divided into rectangles - blocks and cells. A cell is the main working area, consisting of 2-5 cards. The standard area of one card in grape farms is 1 hectare, therefore, the cell area can be from 2 to 5 hectares. The area of a block is 10–25 hectares, the length of a row in a cage is 100 m. Roads are laid between the blocks and cells. The width of the first is 8-10 m, the second – 5 m.

Large pegs are driven in along the cell boundaries and intercellular roads. In this way, the location of the rows is marked in accordance with the required row spacing.

When internally staking, the location for planting the grape bushes is determined. To do this, use steel cables with marks indicating the distance between bushes in a row, or aligned trellis wire. To mark the planting site of the bushes, the cable is pulled along the row line. In this case, the cable is made 4–5 m longer than the row. This reserve is needed to secure its edges to the pegs. Pegs are driven in on opposite sides of the cage, and between them, along the row, a cable is pulled and fixed. It is necessary to ensure that the rows along, across and diagonally of the cell are straight.

If the vineyard is planted over large areas, it is advisable to use mechanized division of the site. It is carried out using mounted cultivators. Sections of working bodies are installed in accordance with the distance between the rows (if the drive is longitudinal) or between the bushes (in the case of a transverse drive). The grapes are planted at the intersection of furrows. Corn seeders can be used for mechanized planting.

3. How to lay out a plot in a private farm

Layout is carried out in autumn or spring, after preparing the soil. It is advisable to do continuous plantation plowing to a depth of 70 cm. If this is not possible, the soil is simply loosened and leveled with a rake.

Most often, grapes are planted in rows on a vertical trellis. the main objective layout - make straight, linear rows and correctly mark the places for planting grape bushes.

To break down the rows, use a rope. Knots are tied on it every meter. First, the direction of the rows is determined, then the locations of the outer bushes of each row are noted, and, finally, the lines of the rows are outlined.

The rows of the vineyard should be strictly parallel to each other. A cord is pulled across the area. Marks are placed on it at a distance that corresponds to the distance between the bushes in the row. In the same way, a cord with marks is pulled along the area, only the marks on it are equal to the width of the rows. Longitudinal and transverse ropes are pulled strictly perpendicular to each other. The beginning of future rows, and then the location of the bushes, are marked with pegs.

4. How to prepare the soil for planting

Whatever the characteristics of the soil in the area allocated for the vineyard, it needs competent pre-planting preparation. The roots of the grapes go deep into the earth. This is where their active life takes place.

The winegrower’s task is to prepare the soil in such a way as to create the most favorable conditions for the growth of grapes.

The soil should be loose, warm and well permeable to water and air. The root zone must have enough moisture and oxygen for the active activity of soil microorganisms. It is necessary to create favorable conditions not only for tap roots, but also for fibrous roots of grapes, thereby achieving best nutrition bushes Proper soil preparation can reduce the number of weeds and weaken the effects of diseases and pests.

To achieve all of the above goals, before planting, continuous plowing of the land is carried out, and fertilizers are also incorporated into the soil.

The depth of plantation plowing can be from 60 to 100 cm. The soil layer is crushed, crumbled, loosened. In this case, the lower layer moves upward, and the upper one “goes” down. In some cases, more complex movement of soil layers to a depth of up to 100 cm is required. What is the meaning of such “shuffling”? The fact is that soil layers are heterogeneous in mechanical and chemical composition. During planting processing, these layers are mixed, the disadvantages of some layers are compensated by the advantages of others. As a result, instead of a “layer cake” you get a nutritious “vinaigrette”. The conditions of the renewed soil environment become most favorable for grapes. Naturally, it is possible to improve the soil only to the extent that this is possible in a given area.

Work to prepare the soil for spring planting of grapes is carried out in the fall. Then, over the winter, the deeply loosened soil will settle and become saturated with moisture, and the seedlings will take root better.

The soil for autumn planting of grapes is prepared in the summer, no later than 2–3 months before planting. If you postpone tillage to a later date, the dug up soil will not have time to settle.

5. How to apply fertilizers

If the soil is poor in humus, then organic fertilizer and manure are applied under the planting at the rate of 4–6 kg per 1 m

Acidic soils are limed.

▫ Thank you for the Poetry, Galinochka! Congratulations on the holiday of the soul! Such a familiar and beloved folk flower, an emblem of hope, a symbol of spring... But every nation has its own snowdrop. There are seventeen species of snowdrop in total. There are Greek, Byzantine, Caucasian and other snowdrops. But still, in most countries, as in England, the most popular snowdrop is galanthus. Although in England it is called a "snow drop", in France - a "snow drill", in Germany - a "snow bell", in the Czech Republic - a "snowflake". There are 12 species of snowdrops out of 18 existing in Russia. Almost all of them are listed in the Red Book and are protected by law, which, unfortunately, does not stop people from picking them. 6509902-a151550
