Connecting a wifi router to a byfly access point. How to connect Wifi Byfly: detailed instructions for setting up equipment and software. The following messages should appear

Byfly is a trademark of Beltelecom, which provides access to high-speed Internet. It so happens that users are not always able to correctly configure network access themselves. This applies to both home Wi-Fi connections and public ones. In this article we will consider both options.

Methods for connecting to public Wi-Fi

byfly wireless access points are installed in many public places, accessed through a user login and password. This data can be obtained temporarily, or you can secure it for a long time. Both methods are presented below.

Temporary free access

It is convenient to use this option if you urgently need to go online, but do not want to make a map and enter into an agreement. Setup takes a couple of minutes.

  1. Turn on Wi-fi on your device and connect to the network.
  2. Go to your browser and try to access any website.
  3. After the authorization page appears, enter your phone number and select the access time of “15 minutes.”
  4. You will receive an SMS with your login and password.
  5. Enter these details on the login page and click “Login”.
  6. Ready! You can use the Internet for 15 minutes.

Note! If you need more than 15 minutes, then indicate the required quantity and pay the selected tariff.

Permanent access

This tariff without a monthly fee gives you the right to top up your card and use Internet access at any time. You can get a card at the Beltelecom service center by concluding an agreement. This option is the most convenient for city residents.

Important! To receive a card, you must have identification documents.

Setting up a home modem

We've sorted out setting up a public network, and now let's start setting up Wi-Fi at home. All actions must be performed on a PC with a modem connected to it via cable. The setup is carried out using the example of the Promsvyaz M-200A device.

  1. Go to your browser and enter "http://192.168.1.1"
  2. In the window that appears, enter your login information. The default login and password is “admin” (If the login window does not appear, see the following instructions).
  3. Click "Interface Setup" → "Internet".
  4. Set the “ISP” parameter to “PPPoA/PPPoE”.
  5. In the “Username” and “Password” fields, enter the user’s login and password (This data can be found in the contract for the provision of Internet connection services).

  10. Create a name and password for the Wi-Fi network.
  11. Click "Save".

After completing these steps, you will have a Wi-Fi access point ready to use.

If you do not see the login window, configure the network card.

  1. By right-clicking on the network icon, go to the “Network and Sharing Center”.
  2. Go to “Change adapter settings”.
  3. Right-click on the “Local Area Connection” shortcut → “Properties”.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 TCP/IPv4 → Properties.
  5. Check the box next to “Use the following IP address.”
  6. In the IP address line enter “192.168.1.2”, enter the subnet mask “255.255.255.0”, and in the “Default gateway” enter “192.168.1.1”.
  7. Enter the DNS server addresses (you can find them on the byfly.by website in the “Clients” section).
  8. Click "Ok" and reboot the modem.

Now you can safely use the Internet.

Not everyone has the opportunity to connect to the Internet via fiber optic cable or twisted pair, and in an office, home or apartment, to connect several devices, you should use a wireless connection method (WiFi) to one network with the ability for each of them to access the Internet. If this connection method is not suitable for a computer with Windows 7, then using broadband ByFly on a laptop is the best option. Today we’ll look at how to set up Wi-Fi on a laptop running Windows 7.

Set network card parameters

First of all, you need to configure the network adapter.

  • Go to the “Network Control Center”.
  • Go to the menu for editing adapter parameters.
  • In the properties of the active connection, select the TCP/IP version 4 protocol and call “Properties” of the connection.
  • Enter the following parameters.

  • Click “Ok” everywhere to exit.

Connecting to the modem

Setting up Wi-Fi begins by connecting the modem and entering its configuration parameters on the laptop. For the first, use the instructions or the services of a wizard, and enter the interface where the modem is configured by entering 192.168.1.x in the address bar. Instead of “x”, enter 1 or 0 (depending on the device model).

A dialog box should appear asking you to enter information to enter the menu where WiFi is configured. Enter the standard value of both lines as “admin” and press “Enter”.

We activate the WiFi module: look for the line “Access Point” (it should be at the top) and move the checkpoint to the value “Activated” - active.

We go down to Broadcast SSID and activate the option by setting its value to “Yes”.

We enter absolutely any SSID value - this is the name of the future Wi-Fi network, under which it will be seen by users of all devices located within the coverage area of the access point.

It is recommended to select WPA2-PSK for the data encryption type (Pre-Shared Key field) of the wireless connection due to the fact that it has the most advanced security mechanism used everywhere today.

We must change the password to a strong one when setting up the adapter for the first time.

The setup on a laptop with an activated WiFi network module and on a computer connected to the router running Windows 7 is carried out in the same way.

Setting up the connection

Let's move on to setting up the wireless network on the laptop itself, setting the parameters for the modem adapter to operate in router mode.

  • Having entered the modem interface, click on the “Interface Setup” button.
  • Below, click “Wireless” - the parameter is responsible for turning on the Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Go to the “Encapsulation” section and set the value of the only parameter as “PPPoA/PPPoE”.
  • After changing the window view, enter the username and provided password.
  • Activate the “Bridge Interface” parameter.
  • The value of the “Default Route” function is set to “Yes”.
  • Click “Save” to apply the new settings of the Wi-Fi adapter.

  • Then we restart the modem so that the new parameters are activated.

After setting up a wireless network in Windows 7, you can safely disconnect the modem and use the access point on your laptop by selecting a new WiFi connection and entering the password that protects it.

If all instructions for configuring a wireless network are followed correctly, then the connection to the Internet will be established in a matter of seconds on a device with Windows, Android or another operating system, the main thing is to be close to the signal source.

Detailed Internet setup byfly

This article will discuss setting up byfly Internet via wired access. It may be needed in the following situations:

  • Just connected to the Internet byfly (informative article on what the Internet is)
  • Reinstalled the Windows operating system
  • Lost (deleted) connection
  • And other situations

First, let's make sure that the technical part is completed.
So, we will assume that you have the necessary wires installed, the byfly service is fully registered and activated (you can check this by calling Beltelecom from your home phone toll-free number 123).

There is also money on the balance sheet, because if there is a minus, then nothing will work out. To make sure of this, you should call the Beltelecom help desk at number 123 (free from a home phone, paid from a mobile phone).

First, let’s check whether the main cables are connected; this doesn’t take long, but sometimes it saves a lot of time:

  1. A telephone cable must go to the modem
  2. It must also be plugged into a power outlet.
  3. A network cable should go from the modem to the system unit, a light should be on or blinking next to the input
  4. That's basically all that's needed

Next, we recommend checking the connection between the computer and the modem - it’s simple and quick

To do this, we go to the Internet Explorer browser (it is standard, always present in Windows OS), and correct display in other browsers is not guaranteed; I will even say that some settings are often not available in them. So, we use Explorer exclusively.

To check the connection with the modem, we should go to it, this is done like this - in the Explorera address bar we write the following numbers: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (sometimes they can differ, plus they are often written on the modem itself at the bottom).

I'm testing it on the Promsvyaz ZXV10 H208L modem. The article setting up Promsvyaz H201L / H208L in Router mode describes how it is configured. After entering the address, the login page appears.

In general, this is enough for us, because if this page appears (and not, for example, a record - page not found), then there is a connection with the modem and all we have to do is create a byfly connection. But, if you still need to go into the settings, then you need to enter standard values here, usually admin and admin (of course, if they have not been changed).

Although even if they have changed, then in order to return the standard admin and admin you need to reset the settings to factory settings, that is, reset them to the original ones. This is usually done by pressing the reset hole with a needle or something similar thin. As a result, after this check we can set up the Internet.

Creating a connection

We do it this way - go to the following path (in Windows 7, the article on how to speed up a computer describes how to speed up your PC):

  • Control Panel
  • Network and internet
  • Network Sharing Center
  • Setting up a new connection
  • In the window that opens, click “next”
  • Create a new connection

Now in the top line we write down the byfly contract number, these are numbers and we also add @beltel.by to them, in the end you should have something like this written there - [email protected]

The second line is the password, usually this is your home phone number, but if you changed it, then write down the one you changed to.

If you did everything correctly, a high-speed byfly Internet connection will appear on your taskbar near the clock on the right. Now you just need to click on it and select “connect”. Next, a window will appear in which you need to click connect and the Internet should turn on.

Now all you have to do is launch your browser to visit sites and their pages. We recommend that you read the article on how to remove pop-up ads in Opera. Plus, of course, it is very important to have protection against viruses when accessing the global network; you can read more about this in the article

First, check the completion of all technical parts.

Need to check that all cables have been installed and connected, or rather connected correctly. The byfly service should be activated And replenished, if there is no money, then, accordingly, neither will the Internet.

Let's check connection of all main wires:

  1. The modem must be included to the network.
  2. Must go to him telephone cable.
  3. There must be a cable running from the modem to the system unit, and the LED next to the input must light up.

We're done with the wires. Sometimes this can save a lot of time later.

Now let's clarify whether there is compound between PC and modem.

To do this you need launch browser Internet Explorer, it can be found in any version of Windows. In Windows 10 it is also available and can be found through search or in desktop applications.

Now you should try come in in the modem settings - to do this, enter in the top line of the browser 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 .

When these numbers are entered you will be taken to the login page. This means that the connection to the modem has been established. If it says that the page was not found, then on the contrary - there is no connection.

Setting up pppoe

To create a pppoe connection do this:

  1. Opening start menu.
  2. Let's go to control Panel.
  3. Next we need to Network Sharing Center.
  4. There we click “ setting up a new connection«.
  5. In the window that appears, click the button “ Further«.
  6. Click create a new connection.

In the line where you need to enter the username, enter contract number byfly and add to these numbers @beltel.by, it will turn out something like [email protected] .

In line password introduced home phone number.

Now we check Is everything done correctly? An internet icon should appear at the bottom near the clock. Click on it and then the button to plug. After this, the Internet will turn on.

Now you can go into the browser and calmly surf the Internet.

WiFi setup

Let's go to control Panel router, how to do this has already been said, enter in the browser from above 192.168.1.1 , the login page will open, there we indicate in the lines admin And admin and we get into control Panel.

  1. In the menu at the top, first go to Interface Setup, and then in Wireless.
  2. Finding the parameter PerSSID Switch and give it a value Activated.
  3. Thus wifi activated, all that remains is to configure the network.

Where it is written SSID introduced Name future access point. Values Authentication Type And Encryption These are security settings, we set them as in the screenshot.

Pre-Shared Key– this is the password value of the future network, this is at least 8 characters from various letters and numbers.

All you have to do is click SAVE and you're done.

How to change your WiFi password

  1. By entering 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 at the top of the browser, we get to the modem settings panel.
  2. On the page that appears, indicate admin and admin and we will be allowed into settings panel modem
  3. There we go to Interface SetupWireless.
  4. We need an item Pre-Shared Key Enter the required password there.
  5. Click SAVE and you're done.

How to forward a port

If the green indicator lights up in uTorrent, as in the screenshot, then everything is fine. The port opened and data began to flow through it.

A few notes related to setting up the modem:

  1. If you have set all the recommended settings, but nothing helped, then do reset(reset all settings) of your modem, and configure everything again.
  2. Check or find out the settings for your area VPI/VCI.

Having replaced the modem or connected to the services of a new operator, we are faced with the need to set up a Wi-Fi connection. You can call technical support, or you can try setting up Wi-Fi on ByFly yourself, which we suggest doing using our instructions.

Calling Beltelecom technical support (especially in the evening on weekdays) can be a very time-consuming undertaking. In those 10-15 minutes that you are “hanging on the wire”, the long-awaited Wi-Fi can already be configured using our instructions.

1 Setting up a network card

After you have connected the modem to the network and the PC to the modem using a network cable, you can proceed to setting up the network card.

1.1.1 To configure a network card in Windows 7, you need to click the “Start” button, go to the “Control Panel”, and in the window that opens, select “Network and Internet” - “Network and Sharing Center”.

1.1.2 In the new window you need to select “Change adapter settings”. Right-click on the “Local Area Connection” shortcut. In the dialog that opens, select “Properties”.

1.1.4 In the IP address line you must enter the values 192.168.1.2, if you use several computers to connect, then the numbers that you put in the last column in the IP address line should not match.

1.1.5 In the next line, “Subnet mask” should be determined by itself. Its value is 255.255.255.0. The next line is “Default gateway”, enter 192.168.1.1.

1.1.6 All that remains is to enter the DNS server addresses (depending on your place of residence). You can find them on the website byfly.by in the “Customers” section. For Minsk and the Minsk region, enter 82.209.240.241 in the “Preferred DNS server” line, and 82.209.243.241 in the alternative DNS server line.

After all the fields are filled in, click “Ok”. In the previous window (“Local Area Connection - Properties”), click “Close”, and also close the window with network connections.

1.2 Windows 8 and Windows 10

1.2.1 On the computer icon (at the bottom of the screen), right-click and select “Network and Sharing Center”. Next (in the left part of the window) select “Change adapter settings”, right-click on the “Ethernet” shortcut and click “Properties”.

1.2.2 As in the case of setting up a network card in Windows 7, select the line Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the “Properties” button. Next, fill in the fields in the window that opens. Data for this is in paragraphs 1.1.4-1.1.6 of our instructions.

1.2.3 After all the settings have been entered, click the “Ok” button and close the unnecessary windows.

1.3.1 For Windows XP users, the setting is slightly different: “Start” - “Control Panel” - “Network Connections”. Next, right-click on the “Local Area Connections” shortcut and select “Properties”. In the “Components used by this connection” window, select “TCP/IP Internet Protocol” and click the “Properties” button.

1.3.3 After all parameters have been entered, click “Ok” and close the previous windows.

2. Setting up the modem

The next step in setting up your wireless connection is setting up your modem. Here your actions may differ depending on the modem model you received from your operator.

However, for any modem, the setup begins with a browser window in which you need to enter the address 192.168.1.1. Next, in the window that appears, enter the user name and password (admin, admin) and click the “Ok” button. And we find ourselves in a window with the modem interface.

When setting up most modems, the common thing is that the user needs to make settings in the connections menu (Wireless). The standard steps when setting up a modem will be to enter the network name (make up your own) in the SSID line and the password to log into it (the line may have the name Pre-Shared Key, passphrase).

For some models of Huawei modems, you must first click on the “Basic” button on the right side of the modem interface, and in some models you must go to the WLAN tab. Often Huawei modems need to be additionally switched to “Activated” mode. You need to come up with and enter a password that you will use to connect to Wi-Fi in your home or office. The new modem settings must be saved (Save or Submit buttons).

In ZTE modems, to proceed to setting up the connection, you may need to go to the Network – WLAN – Multi SSID Settings tab. Next, in ZTE modems you need to check the “Enable SSID” line, and in the Name SSID line you need to enter an arbitrary name for your network. After saving the settings (Submit button), you need to go to the security settings (Security button on the right side of the interface of ZTE modems from ByFly). In the WPA Passphrase line, delete the standard password and enter your own, which we will use to connect to Wi-Fi. Save the settings (Submit button) and exit the modem interface (Logout button in the upper right browser window).

If you want to use Wi-Fi not only on mobile devices and laptops, but also on a desktop computer using a Wi-Fi adapter, then to set up Wi-Fi you will need to perform one more step.
