Optimizing Win 10 performance on a laptop. Unwanted and malicious programs. Disabling unnecessary components

How to improve laptop performance on Windows 10
The performance of Windows 10 is directly determined by the power of the hardware and the number of running processes during the current session. At the same time, you don’t need to evaluate performance in Windows 10 to understand how well the operating system works, because it’s noticeable right away. So, if the system begins to respond poorly to commands or freezes, then you can improve the performance of your Windows 10 computer by following a few simple tips.

How to improve laptop performance on Windows 10: tips
The operating system is a complex program, so many of its components directly affect the performance indicator. How to increase the speed of your computer on Windows 10? To do this you need to follow a few simple steps:

1. Check the system for malicious software.
Even if you have a good antivirus, your computer can still be infected. In order to clean it, you can initiate another scan or use effective healing utilities. If the antivirus finds one or more threats and eliminates them, this will likely affect the performance of the Windows 10 system.

2. Install the latest Windows updates.
Optimizing Windows 10 for better performance also means checking and installing all necessary system updates. You can check for the latest updates in system settings. They can be found in the Start menu, and in the dialog box you will need to open Update and Security. If the operating system finds available updates, they will need to be installed. After this, your computer's performance in Windows 10 should increase.

3. Checking the level of RAM load.
To optimize Windows 10 to improve laptop performance, you need to evaluate how rationally and for which applications operating solder is spent and how loaded the processor is. To do this, the user must open the Task Manager and find the “Memory” sub-item. Here it will be shown how much memory is spent on certain processes, and how much remains free.

4. Reboot and activate only the necessary applications.
Setting up your laptop for maximum performance in Windows 10 involves rebooting the device with only the applications you need activated. When the PC starts, a number of programs, applications and services that, in principle, are not needed for the full operation of the system, are activated automatically. To improve the performance of a Windows 10 laptop, you need to close all programs that are not currently needed for work, leaving only the essentials.
To configure Windows 10 for maximum performance, you first need to free up the maximum amount of resources and computing power. After all, software running in the background also uses these resources.

5. Check your PC for damaged system files
How to increase the performance of a laptop on Windows 10 if no viruses or updates are found, all programs are closed, and the PC still continues to slow down, although it does not consume all its resources? In this case, you should check whether the system files are damaged.
In this case, you need to increase the performance of a Windows 10 laptop as follows: open the Taskbar. Next, enter a command line query in the search field. After this, you need to run the command line as an administrator and confirm making changes to the system. How to improve computer performance on Windows 10 in this way? Navigate to the location dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth by entering this location into the command line.
Please note that spaces must be preserved, only in this case the command will be interpreted correctly. In most cases, the system itself finds and fixes errors by replacing damaged Windows 10 files. System performance in this case increases. In order for the changes to take effect, you need to restart your personal computer, assessing how much faster it started to work.

How to optimize Windows 10 and improve your computer's performance
In Windows 10, you can increase performance by freeing up unnecessary information, for example, unused programs. Open the Add/Remove Programs menu and you will see how many software are currently installed on your PC. To improve performance in Windows 10, clean your PC of this unnecessary “garbage” and from now on try to install only the necessary software.
If Windows 10 is experiencing slow performance, these tips will help you tune the operating system for performance and responsiveness in running commands. To ensure maximum performance in Windows 10 for a long time, keep an eye on your temporary files and keep your PC clean. In this case, the operating system will delight you with high response speed and maximum performance for a long time.

A nice translucent “Start” may well have an impact on system performance, especially if you have an inexpensive laptop with a budget processor. Disabling transparency will free up some resources that can be allocated to higher priority tasks.

To do this, you need to go to “Start” → “Settings” → “Personalization” → “Colors” and there switch the “Transparency effects” switch to the “Off” position.

Animation effects, smooth scrolling and various shadows further affect system performance. You can disable all this with literally one click.

To do this, open the “Control Panel” (you can find it through a search) and then follow the points: “System and Security” → “System” → “Advanced system settings” → “Settings” on the “Advanced” tab. Now in the “Visual Effects” section you need to check “Ensure the best performance”.

There you can simply uncheck the effects that are least important to you, leaving only the ones you need.

If you don't use Live Tiles in your Start menu, you can avoid them entirely, as they also use up resources. To clear Start, leaving only the list of programs, you need to unpin all the tiles one by one. To do this, you need to right-click on each one and select “Unpin from Start Screen”.

Notifications from applications and other senders can load the system the first time you launch certain programs, especially . To turn off all annoying Windows 10 notifications, go to Start → Settings → System → Notifications & Actions and there, switch the top switch to the Off position.

Avoiding Windows tips, tricks, and recommendations will also help relieve system resources. You can disable such help in the same settings section just below.

And removing garbage from memory must be done systematically. This is a mandatory procedure to maintain a high level of system performance, especially when there is not enough free space on the hard drive.

Cleaning can be done with third-party programs, such as, or using a standard utility. To launch the latter, you can simply type “Disk Cleanup” in the Windows search and open the suggested option. Next, you just need to note what can be deleted.

If, when you turn on your PC, the system takes a long time to boot and even after the desktop appears it continues to think about something, you should check the list of programs in startup. It is likely that there will be something there that can be removed, making the initial launch easier.

To do this, open the “Task Manager” using the combination Ctrl + Alt + Del or Ctrl + Shift + Esc, then go to the “Startup” tab. To identify the heaviest components, you can sort the list by the “Startup Impact” column. All you have to do is select programs and disable them.

Windows 10 comes with a standard tool for finding and fixing problems. With its help, it is quite possible to fix some pop-up errors that slow down the entire system.

You can go to such a debugger through “Settings” → “Update and Security” → “Troubleshooting”. In the window that opens, start checking from any section where any errors were encountered.

If you do not have a top-end computer with powerful hardware, it is worth lowering the level of protection of your computer by prohibiting it from systematically checking your PC memory. You can also search for potential threats manually, when the computer is not performing other tasks.

A particularly high load on the system can be caused by two antiviruses installed on the PC for maximum reliability. Make a choice in favor of one means of protection and discard the less useful one.

Windows 10 by default monitors some user actions and sends reports to Microsoft. These background activities inevitably consume system resources, which is especially noticeable on weak computers.

Such surveillance can be disabled in the privacy section of the system settings. There you need to turn off the first three functions in the “General” subsection, and also select the main amount of data to send and the frequency of generating reviews “Never” in the “Feedback and Diagnostics” subsection.

In the case of laptops, the selected power management scheme can also affect system performance. When operating from the network, a circuit with high or at least balanced performance should always be selected. The “Energy Saving” option is designed for stand-alone use of the laptop, when it is important to use battery power as efficiently as possible.

You can go to power management through “Control Panel” → “System and Security” → “Power Options”.

At first, ten gives a good, generally large, increase in PC performance. After seven, the speed of work is frankly pleasing. But as Windows 10 gets cluttered, these benefits become much harder to see. According to our observations, the netbook, which did not play online games under seven, after the update allowed us to beat our enemies. But I would like the speed of the computer to show up more clearly. Windows 10 optimization is still required. But you won’t be able to find software for this during the day.

If it weren’t for the fact with the shooter, we would not have dared to say that we managed to improve the performance of the laptop on Windows 10. It began to work faster, because the seven did not draw the virtual world and enemies at all, but after the update it started. We can say, therefore, that the latest copy is definitely optimized for games. The performance improvement is visible to the naked eye. But on weak machines.

First things first

Experiments have shown that it is almost impossible to increase system performance by configuring services. Therefore, various optimizers can be safely discarded. The first step to take, if, of course, there is a desire, is to change the topic to a simpler one. If you want to get the maximum, leave your desktop background empty. Here's how it's done:

A new theme is selected from contrasting ones. This is equivalent to removing the Aero effect under Windows 7. The rendering speed of all applications increases significantly.

Removing special effects

Contrasting themes are already configured for maximum performance, but you can optimize some things without this option. The maximum increase in graphics performance is achieved as follows.

By clicking the parameters button, we get to a list of elements whose setting to zero can speed up work. The same window can be accessed through System Properties Win + Break. Please note that setting up for acceleration is done with one click. When you exit, click Apply. On the tab, additionally select the option to optimize Windows 10 for programs.

Cleaning the Start Menu

The Start menu contains many applications designed to replace gadgets. It is necessary to meticulously configure this area, full of unnecessary resource consumers, to the optimal mode. Cleaning will help speed up your running computer a little. If you right-click on any tile, you can see a menu that can interest someone who is puzzling over how to speed up Windows 10.

Disabling scheduler services and jobs

We strongly do not recommend disabling services, because it is difficult to say at what point something will fail. This is too much risk for little gain. As for the scheduler, a systematic study of the entries in its database can make life easier for many.

Services are disabled through Computer Management. Access there is provided through the Win + X menu.

Many of them can be disabled, but some are important. The task scheduler is in a different branch of the snap-in. You can handle it a little more freely.

You will see that some jobs run on a time-based basis, while others wait for the system to be idle. That's why a PC under ten is constantly doing something. In particular, it sends some reports and data to the server. It is very difficult to deal with this. Moreover, there are no guidelines for this. Please note that many services will start after they are stopped. Dealing with the slowness of the operating system is a difficult task in this regard.

The most interesting thing is that even some stupid programs, like karaoke, are registered in the startup. So what should they do there? What tasks do they perform if the user is not going to sing. Optimizers usually start with the Task Manager, in the appropriate tab. To do this, press Ctrl + Alt + Del and evaluate what can be done there in this direction.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. In this case, many recommend looking for a solution to the problem in the registry, but we know a close way. And correct, too. There are semi-official programs to optimize autoloading. Take a look here technet.microsoft.com/ru-ru/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx. The folder contains applications for different versions of the operating system, select the one you need. It is not necessary to unpack the entire archive.

This is by far the best app because it shows 10 times more startup lines. Including system commands. To avoid accidentally excluding an important driver, select from the Options menu:

  1. Hide Windows Entry.
  2. Hide Microsoft Entry.

It is not difficult to guess what is meant by these options. This way, autoload entries are hidden, which can have a critical impact on the integrity of the entire system. Each time you restart your computer, you can evaluate the changes. The most important thing is that removed lines can be turned back on. Thus, the program can hardly cause any harm. You need to try really hard.

Often, many Windows 10 users encounter the problem that their operating system is too slow. There can be many reasons: from viruses to a large number of simultaneously running applications. Of course, the easiest way to speed up Windows 10 is to simply reinstall the operating system. But not everyone wants to lose their valuable files. In this article, we'll talk about ways to optimize Windows 10 for better performance.

Why is Windows 10 slow?

Before speeding up Windows 10, you need to figure out why Windows 10 is slow. You probably noticed the fact that during the initial installation, your computer literally “flies”: all programs and games launch instantly, loading takes a few seconds, etc. But over time, Windows 10 begins to slow down a lot. This happens due to the fact that users load the hard drive with necessary and unnecessary programs, which create a load on the computer's processor. In addition, various visual effects and gadgets on the desktop create additional stress. In order to figure out why Windows 10 is slow, you need to carry out step-by-step diagnostics.

Here are the main reasons why Windows 10 slows down and how to fix them:

  1. High CPU load: This reason is the most common and is due to the fact that the processor does not have enough power for the current application and it begins to freeze. Solutions to the problem: get rid of unnecessary processes, or buy a more modern processor.
  2. Defects or inconsistency of the hard drive: The hard drive has a significant impact on the performance of the computer. Bad sectors lead to system malfunctions. In this case, it is necessary to diagnose the hard drive for bad sectors (for example, using the Victoria HDD program). After diagnostics, if the damage to the disk is significant, it makes sense to replace it; if buying a new disk is not possible, you can try to remove the bad sectors). In the second case, when there is little space left on the hard drive, you must first get rid of unnecessary files, and then defragment the hard drive.
  3. Lack of RAM: one of the most common cases of why Windows 10 slows down. This problem often occurs when there are many applications running on the computer, with a colorful design. It is necessary to turn off startup applications, and also remove all graphical effects of Windows 10. If this does not help, you should think about buying a new RAM stick.
  4. Small page file: The page file is used when there is not enough RAM. The rest of the article will tell you how to increase the paging file.
  5. Viruses: there is nothing to explain here - everything is clear. The surest option to prevent this situation is to avoid downloading files from “left” sites. By the way, often the antivirus loads the system even more than the malware itself.
  6. Overheating of the computer: another reason manifests itself when the computer is not assembled well and there is no normal cooling system. You can read about cooling systems in.
  7. A lot of dust: dust settles on the components of the motherboard and disrupts the computer's heat transfer processes, causing the same overheating.

The impact of Windows 10 bit depth on performance speed

Users themselves often create additional load on the system. For example, you have a laptop with 2 GB of RAM and a 64-bit processor. A user installs the 64-bit version of Windows 10, after which it turns out that the laptop cannot cope with the load. In this case, to speed up Windows 10, it was worth installing the 32-bit version, because it requires a minimum amount of RAM of 1 GB. 2 GB is the recommended size and with such parameters the laptop will work much faster.

Terminating unnecessary processes in Windows 10

If a large number of simultaneously running applications are running on the computer, it does not have time to cope with the flow of commands and begins to freeze. In order to check the CPU load and get rid of unnecessary applications, you need to go to Task Manager. To do this, press the key combination Ctrl + Alt + Del.

At the beginning, Task Manager will show the currently running applications (Torrent, Yandex Browser). Select an item More details to view all processes.

In the tab Processes we see a list of all running applications. They are conventionally divided into three groups:

  1. Applications - currently running applications
  2. Background processes - applications running in the background
  3. Windows processes - applications required to run Windows 10

You can see the computer boot more clearly in the tab Performance.

Here you can see the CPU load, the amount of RAM used, disk writes, and the current speed of the Ethernet connection. The data is presented graphically as percentages. Open the icon Resource Monitor.

Sort rows by value Average for CPU and see which applications load the processor the most.

Here you need to select all unnecessary processes from this table and terminate them. I’ll say right away that under no circumstances should you disable Windows 10 system services. In the description column they are listed as Host process for Windows 10 services. Below is a list of Windows 10 processes that do not need to be terminated:

  1. explorer - responsible for the operation of the desktop and taskbar
  2. Taskhost - host file
  3. Conhost - host console window
  4. svchost - responsible for launching dynamic DLLs
  5. taskmgr - the task manager itself
  6. msdtc - distributed transaction coordinator
  7. sppsvc - Microsoft software protection platform
  8. smss - Windows Session Manager
  9. csrss - executes client-server
  10. winlogon - login
  11. services - Windows services
  12. spoolsv - Windows print queue
  13. lsass - local user authorization
  14. lsm - local session service
  15. SearchIndexer - search indexer

I will also indicate a list of unnecessary processes, by completing which you can speed up Windows 10:

  1. reader_sl - speeds up Adobe Reader launch
  2. jqs - Java Quick Starter speeds up opening software that works with Java
  3. Osa - Office Source Engine works with office
  4. soffice - works with Open Office
  5. AdobeARM - checks for updates to Adobe software
  6. Jushed - Checks for Java updates
  7. NeroCheck - looks for drivers that may cause conflicts
  8. Hkcmd - Maintains Windows hardware
  9. apiptaxx (ati2evxx) - quick access to ATI video card settings
  10. RAVCpl64 - Realter Audio Manager - audio manager, everything will work without it
  11. NWiz - refers to the NVIDIA NView feature
  12. CCC - Catalyst Control Center - belongs to ATI, intended for gamers
  13. winampa - Winamp player process
  14. OSPPSVC - Office 2010 Security Platform
  15. Sidebar - Windows Gadgets
  16. wmpnetwk - search for Windows Media Player

This list can be continued indefinitely, the most important thing is that you must understand which programs are not needed for work.

In order to complete the process, right-click on it and select End the process.

Disable startup of some applications

The most common reason why Windows 10 slows down is a large number of applications that run simultaneously with the system. Many of these applications are simply unnecessary and use up unnecessary computer resources. Disabling unnecessary applications will speed up the loading of Windows 10. In order to remove unnecessary applications from startup, go to the task manager.

Among all the programs, we select unnecessary ones and remove them. To do this, right-click and select Disable.

How do you know which programs can be disabled to speed up Windows 10 loading? First of all, you should look for information about this program on the Internet (we can assume that 90% of programs are not needed at all and only interfere with the system starting). You can definitely turn it off:

  1. Cloud storage
  2. uTorrent, MediaGet, and other programs for downloading
  3. Official software

Disabling unnecessary services

In addition to programs, some services start simultaneously with Windows 10. The Windows developers couldn't know which services you'll need and which you won't, so you'll need to check this list yourself and disable anything you don't need. To find the list of services, press Win+R and enter services.msc, then press OK.

We sort by services by startup type.

To disable a service, right-click on it and select Properties.

After which, in the meaning Startup type choose Disabled. Click OK.

What services can be disabled to speed up Windows 10 startup? Here's a list:

  1. Windows 10 Update - If you need to update your system, it's better to do it manually
  2. Windows Search - few people search for something on their computer
  3. Network Services (KtmRm, Offline Files, IPSec Policy Agent, Computer Browser, NetBIOS Help Module, Server Network Service)
  4. Computer protection (Firewall, Windows Defender) - disable if you already have an antivirus
  5. Adaptive Brightness Control
  6. IP Ancillary Service
  7. Secondary login
  8. Changed Link Tracking Client
  9. IPSec Key Modules
  10. SSDP detection
  11. Parental control
  12. Error Logging Service
  13. Remote registry
  14. Smart card
  15. Print Manager
  16. Application download service
  17. Bluetooth support
  18. Tablet PC Input Service

Removing unnecessary software

It makes sense to keep on your computer only those programs that you really need. Removing unnecessary software will significantly speed up Windows 10. To go to the Programs and Features window, press the Win + R key combination, then enter appwiz.cpl, click OK.

To remove a program, right-click on it and select Delete.

Cleaning the disk from garbage and unnecessary files

In any operating system, “junk” system files accumulate over a certain period of time. To remove them, you need to go to Start and enter Disk Cleanup.

Select the checkboxes in all sections and click OK.

If you have a small hard drive and it is “filled to the brim,” then you need to clean it of your files. Look at all the files on your computer, you will probably find unnecessary movies, TV shows, music, and games that you can delete. Be sure to check your Downloads folder, there may be a lot of unnecessary installation files there. Also, you should not store personal files on drive C, because this will definitely slow down your computer. It is better to move these files to neighboring drives, such as drive D.

To further clean your computer, you can use programs to speed up your Windows 10 computer, such as CCleaner.

Defragmenting your hard drive

Defragmentation is the redistribution of files and the logical structure of a disk to ensure a continuous sequence of clusters.

Defragmentation allows you to speed up reading and writing files, which means Windows 10 speeds up due to the continuity of disk reading, i.e. without additional displacement of the hard drive head. Defragmentation should be carried out after cleaning the computer.

To defragment the disk, press Win + R and enter dfrgui.

In the window that appears, select system drive C, click Optimize.

Increasing the swap file

The paging file is a special file on the hard drive that is used to expand RAM. The page file comes into play when there is no space left in the RAM.

The paging file allows you to avoid freezing of many programs. There are no specific values, but it is recommended to choose a file size that is at least twice the size of your RAM. If my RAM capacity is 2 GB, then I set the paging file to 4 GB. To change the paging file size, you need to go to System Properties. We go into my computer, right-click in an empty space and select Properties.

Go to the tab Additionally, select Options.

In the window Performance Options In chapter Virtual memory choose Change.

In the window Virtual memory uncheck the box Automatically select paging file size.

Select an item Specify size and enter the minimum and maximum size of the paging file. Click OK and restart the computer.

Windows 10 Driver Update

Installing the latest drivers gives good results. In general, Windows 10 automatically updates device drivers, but there are exceptions. Let's go to device Manager, to do this, press the key combination Win + R and enter devmgmt.msc.

In Device Manager, right-click on the desired device and select Update drivers.

Disabling visual effects

Well, if your computer is very old, then the last option to “save” it would be to disable all animation in Windows 10. To do this, go to My computer, right-click on an empty space and select Properties.

In the window that appears System choose Advanced System Settings.

Select a tab Additionally and press the button Options in the Performance section.

In the tab Visual effects select an item Provide the best performance.

Other ways to speed up Windows 10

We looked at the main ways to speed up Windows 10. All methods boiled down to optimizing Windows 10 to improve performance, but this is not enough. In addition, I advise you to diagnose your computer, check the hard drive and RAM for errors using special programs. Also check your computer for viruses. Or perhaps your computer is heating up and then you need to clean it from dust, and perhaps improve the cooling system. Well, the very last piece of advice when nothing helps is.

Squeezing all the juice out of your PC is a normal, healthy thought of any sober-minded user who does not suffer from fanaticism, but knows what can be done better. You can ask the advice of “armchair experts” who will unanimously recommend a Core i7 6950, an SSD on 3D Nand chips, a card of a level no lower than the GeForce Titan X, and other little things. But few people think about fine-tuning their own system and banal optimization of Windows 10.

What remains to be done? It is essential to delve into your own system, namely:

  • do defragmentation;
  • optimize startup;
  • disable third-party services and indexing;
  • remove unnecessary visual effects;
  • configure drivers and clean up space in the Temp folder;
  • check the system for viruses and other debris;
  • look into the body.

Laughter is laughter, but dust, debris and dried thermal paste on the CPU will greatly slow down performance + complicate ventilation inside the PC or laptop case. No software setting will save you if the hardware burns out. Once every 3-4 months, use a vacuum cleaner set to blowing air and a soft brush (no synthetics - it is fraught with static and failure of components) to clean the inside of the machine.

Be sure to lock the coolers with a screwdriver or your finger, otherwise the bearings may not withstand the increase in speed caused by the powerful air flow, unless you have hydrodynamics, or a magnetic levitation. In any case, it's better to be safe. But let's get back to our sheep.

Defragment the hard drive

Not everyone has modern SSDs with static high-speed memory. Many people have no idea what it is and use the good old HDD. Hard drives have a mechanical part in the form of a spindle on which the disk is mounted. All files are written to the latter, and reading is done with special heads.

The bottom line is this: data is written sequentially (if the disk is clean) into special clusters, then also read. But if you delete one or more components (programs, movies, pictures, music), freeing up selective clusters, then subsequent recorded information will be saved in fragments (if it finds free space, it saves its part there).

Imagine the following diagram: 11111, 222, 3333333, 44, 555555, 66666,777 – recorded programs and the space they occupy. After removing "222", "44", and "66666", several gaps appear. Next we write a new element - 88888888888. Will it come after “777”? No. It will try to fit itself into the gaps of previously removed elements. You will clearly see something like: 11111.888 (3 parts), 3333333, 88 (2 parts), 555555, 88888 (other parts), 777. As you can see, accessing the “888...” file is difficult, since it is located in different places.

Defragmentation turns the picture into this: 11111, 3333333, 555555, 77, 8888888888 . The circulation speed is higher - the performance speed has accelerated.

To complete the process, go to “This PC”, right-click on the drive (C, D, etc.), click on properties.

We are looking for the “Service” tab.

Now the computer will become somewhat faster and more responsive.

Removing unnecessary things from startup

This point applies to those who like to install everything without unchecking the “extra” checkboxes during the installation process. Don’t be surprised where you end up with elements of Yandex and Mail.ru popping out of every crevice. What exactly is autoloading? These are services that start when Windows starts (Skype, uTorrent, antiviruses). In this case, RAM and processor resources are “eaten up”. As a result, maximum performance is not guaranteed, since a bunch of unnecessary applications run in the background, taking up some of the power.

Press the good old combination Ctrl+Alt+Del. In Win10, the functionality has been significantly expanded and redesigned, so we are not surprised and look for the “Startup” tab.

Next to each object you can see “influence on launch”. If it is medium or high, and you have no idea why it is needed, but do not use the program, turn it off. Select it by right-clicking and click “disable”.

Disable unnecessary services and indexing

Gaming is all about speed, and Windows 10's support services eat up a lot of CPU and RAM performance. This point is very slippery and we do not recommend getting into administration if you are not confident in yourself.

To enter the section, click Start and write in the search bar “ services.msc" Press Enter and you will be taken to this menu (the “Services” tab).

Disabling unnecessary services is a delicate process, but we recommend disabling Windows Search And Update centre. They heavily load both the HDD and Internet traffic.

Making the system visually lighter

Win 10 is far from a "seven" in terms of beauty, but some effects also take away precious resources, taking them for themselves. The operation will be more in demand for owners of older PCs, although new models will also see some improvement.

First, go to “This PC” and click “system properties”.

We are interested in “additional parameters...”.

Here we open the “Advanced” tab, look for the “Performance” section and click on parameters.

It is necessary to achieve acceleration, so we place a marker in front of the best performance. Yes, the system will lose some beauty, but will gain in performance, which is important for weak PCs.

After this, the key combination Win + I calls up another menu. We are looking for “Special Features”.

Go to the “other parameters” submenu and turn off system animation. We leave the remaining points.

Update and add the necessary drivers

Windows 10 is good because it installs all the basic drivers on its own, thereby activating the video card, network card (including Wi-Fi), mouse and keyboard, and more. The downside is that the system “picks up” standard controllers to provide at least some work, without caring about the originality of the software.

A laptop or key PC hardware (motherboard, video card, sound card) should include driver discs from the manufacturer. Their installation significantly contributes to hardware acceleration, and the machine will work at full capacity.

If there is no disk or there is no drive, go to the laptop manufacturer’s website, look for the model in the “drivers and utilities” section, select the OS and download the original components.

After this, we recommend cleaning the temporary system Temp folder (located on the “C” drive, or on the one where the system is installed). To avoid deleting anything manually, the developer has provided a special button. Go to “This PC”, right-click on the “C” drive, select properties.

The only button we are interested in is “Disk Cleanup”. Click it and clear the temporary contents. Do not touch other elements (downloaded files, cleaning updates).

Checking for viruses

The lion's share of program manipulations has been completed. All that remains is to use an antivirus. Opinions vary here: some praise Kaspersky, while others praise NOD 32, Avast and other products. The point is in the test itself. Don’t count too much on the built-in Windows Defender - it will only help with obvious threats, nothing more.

Additionally, we advise you to “insure yourself” with products like Dr. Web CureIt and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. The latter program works in a different mode: it searches for components “responsible” for the pop-up of advertising banners in browsers, opening tabs like “Volcano Casino” and more. It also cleans the file with hosts if they were previously controlled by one or another Trojan.

Getting rid of dust in the case

The last tip is suitable not only for Windows 10, but also for all other OSes, since we are talking about cleaning the case. It's easier with a PC because the cases are easy to disassemble and clean with a brush, vacuum cleaner and compressed air. Some users turn to a service station for help, because there is a compressor there. It's fast and convenient.

Laptops present a problem due to their design. Not everyone dares to disassemble a laptop in order to clean out the insides. Yes, Youtube is full of video instructions, but it is preferable to take the car to a service center, where they will polish it up, change the thermal paste and make it look like a god. In the future, do not place the device on a dusty surface and use a stand with a cooler.

Cleaning must be done at least once every six months, unless you want to end up with a huge dusty lump that acts like a fur coat for components. They will overheat and fail, and replacement is much more expensive than prevention.

Although the advice smells of banality, nothing extraordinary is required from users. You just need to tinker with the settings once, and then monitor what you install so that nothing unnecessary gets into the startup and changes the performance. And be extremely careful not to let Yandex into the system.
