The oncological service in the Leningrad region was organized in 1947 on the basis of order No. 85 of April 1, 1947 of the Leningrad regional health department on the basis of the Regional Clinical Hospital and Clinic.

The state health care institution "Leningrad Regional Oncology Dispensary" was created by allocating beds and an oncology room from the Leningrad Regional Clinical Hospital by order of the Leningrad Regional Health Department dated April 11, 1951 No. 175 based on the decision of the Executive Committee of the Leningrad Regional Council of People's Deputies of Working People dated April 10 1951.

Initially, the dispensary was located on Ogorodnikov Avenue in Leningrad and consisted of an oncology room, a hospital with 35 beds and an oncology boarding house with 25 beds.

In 1953, the LOOD was transferred to the address: Leningrad, Liteiny Prospekt, building 37, and its bed capacity was increased to 105 beds. The hospital carried out surgical operations for breast cancer, soft tissue tumors, used x-ray therapy, intracavitary and interstitial radioisotope therapy, provided outpatient advisory and medical care, and registered cancer patients in the Leningrad region. In the period from 1965 to 1982, the chemotherapeutic method of treatment and the cytological diagnostic method were introduced at the dispensary. Since 1969, abdominal surgery and surgical interventions in the lymphatic pathways began to develop. Since that time, the dispensary has been a permanent base of the department ХУВ-2 of the Military Medical Academy named after. CM. Kirov. Close cooperation with the department gave a powerful impetus to the development of the surgical method of treatment in the dispensary. In the period from 1982 to 1986, the outpatient department with 70 visits per shift was transferred to the renovated basement floor on Liteiny Prospekt, and the hospital was expanded to 150 beds and had 70 oncosurgical beds, 40 - oncogynecological and 40 - radiological, dispensary and polyclinic department, its own X-ray, endoscopic and pathological services and a clinical and biochemical laboratory. The recovery room was opened and the conference room was renovated. At the end of the 90s, the dispensary's clinic was transferred to a neighboring building and the capacity was increased to 170 visits per shift, an intensive care unit and intensive care unit were opened, the operating unit was expanded, and paraclinical services were located in the basement. Since May 13, 2002, the capacity of the hospital has been increased to 240 beds, due to the opening of a hospital complex in the village of Kuzmolovsky, Vsevolozhsk district.

Today, the organization of the activities of the Leningrad Regional Oncology Dispensary is carried out in accordance with the Procedure for providing medical care to the population in the field of oncology, approved by order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated November 15, 2012 No. 915n.

State Budgetary Healthcare Institution "Leningrad Regional Oncology Dispensary" has a license to carry out medical activities No. 78-01-005265 dated November 10, 2014.
