Review of Irbis TW30 - Windows tablet with keyboard case and Intel® Atom™. Irbis TW30 – Windows tablet with keyboard and powerful Intel® processor Pros and cons

The market for tablets with Windows 10 installed is rapidly growing, but transformable tablets that work like laptops can become no less popular. These include the Irbis TW30, which is also affordable, which is sure to attract the attention of users.

Users are increasingly giving preference to transformable tablets

Let's take a closer look at this device, find out what tasks it can handle, and, accordingly, for which it might be interesting.

Contents of delivery

The contents of the tablet could be standard - along with it you get documentation, a USB cable, and a charger. But in addition to them, it also comes with a keyboard. It is the highlight of the model, because it allows you to use the device as a laptop.

It is noteworthy that the keyboard is in a stand case, so the device can be placed on a table, and this is an additional plus for its ease of use.

Design

Like most budget rather than mid-range models, the Irbis TW30 has a fairly standard design. The tablet is made of black color, made of durable plastic; the advantage is the ribbed surface of the back of the device - thanks to it, it lies firmly in the hands.

All connectors are on the left side, but the volume control and power button, oddly enough, are located on top. It’s not that this arrangement looks illogical - in principle, everything is convenient, but a little unusual. The build quality is good, there are no creaks or unevenness in the case, which is a plus for an inexpensive device.

The brand name is written in a fairly large font on the back side, indicating the involvement of the Intel and Windows brands in its filling. But there is nothing flashy and tasteless in the design of the tablet, everything is restrained and modest. The design is not satisfactory, and given that the device is positioned as a hybrid that can turn into a laptop, the modest design plays into the hands of those who intend to use it for work tasks.

Screen

The Irbis TW30 tablet is equipped with an excellent IPS screen for its price, which is known to have good color reproduction and wide viewing angles. Therefore, the picture will be colorful and attractive, and if you do not bring the screen directly to your face, pixelation will not be noticeable, so 149 ppi per inch is enough for watching video files.

Such a screen fits harmoniously into the design because it does not consume a lot of system resources and battery power, and the 10.1-inch size is perfect for video and office applications, especially when you type text.

Performance

If we talk about performance, then the Irbis TW30 is fine with it. Although the RAM is only 1 GB, which seems too little for advanced users, the device copes well with displaying the operating system and with fairly demanding programs like Photoshop.

The tablet fits an Intel Atom Z3735F processor with four cores and a frequency of 1.83 GHz. For an inexpensive device, such a filling is quite good; as a result, it can cope with everything - web surfing, watching videos and documents. It also works successfully in laptop mode - entering text and using the touchpad occurs smoothly and without lag.

The only thing the Irbis TW30 is not suitable for is games, but this is easy to foresee based on the class of the product. But another pleasant advantage of the device’s processor is that it is silent and does not heat up - the latter factor directly affects its performance, which in this case remains high.

Multimedia capabilities

Comfortable work with multimedia on the Irbis TW30 will be provided by a large screen with high image quality - it will be convenient to watch numerous videos, films and TV series on it. To listen to music, the tablet has 2 speakers located at the bottom of the back of the case. They produce a loud sound, which is enough for normal tasks.

To store multimedia files, programs and other data, the device has 32 GB, which can be supplemented with the same amount of memory on the card. This is enough for all applications, photos and a large number of videos.

To transfer files, there is traditionally Bluetooth; via a Wi-Fi connection you can download everything you need. The Intel HD Graphics graphics adapter easily copes with all multimedia tasks.

If we talk about games, then perhaps you can use applications that are not too demanding. But this tablet will definitely not become a game console, since in terms of cost, content, and transformer format, it is created for radically different tasks.

Battery and operating time

The Irbis TW30 model comes with a 7 thousand mAh battery, which is enough for 10 hours of moderate use - for example, if you type text and surf the Internet, when watching videos, the tablet will last about 7 hours. This time will pleasantly surprise you, because you can take the device to work and use it without recharging throughout the working day.

These results are more than worthy, given the presence of Windows 10 and a large screen, so the battery is the strong point of the model.

Camera

In the Irbis TW30, the cameras are made for show and cannot be considered as a serious tool. This is because such a technique was never created for photography, and with a size of 10 inches, such a process would simply be inconvenient.

However, cameras undoubtedly help out when you urgently need to photograph something, but you don’t have more professional equipment at hand. It is for such cases that the tablet has a 2 MP camera, and the front module, which has the same resolution, will do an excellent job with video communication.

Operating system and programs

Following the latest trends in technological fashion, manufacturers installed a relatively new Windows 10 system in the Irbis TW30. What can you say about it? There is nothing unusual about it, because this platform has been familiar to us for many years in its previous versions.

As for displaying the system on the tablet, it looks the same, you can use the same programs and download documents. The presence of a keyboard will allow you to turn it into a full-fledged laptop and work with all Office applications in the same way as on a home computer. This is one of the main advantages of the model - it is a compact device that is comfortable to carry and can be used as a computer at any time.

If we talk about the operation of the system, then the mentioned 1 GB of RAM, as it turned out, is quite enough for the correct operation of all programs and smooth display of the interface. Additionally, it is worth noting a set of study materials that will be useful to many schoolchildren and students.

Competitors

In terms of price and characteristics, the Irbis TW30’s competitor is the Cube iWork10 Super, which costs a little more, but has 2 GB of RAM - it’s never enough, the same Windows 10 system and an Intel processor with a frequency of 1.83 GHz. The screen size, memory capacity and other parameters are almost the same as the Irbis TW30 model. The only thing is that for a product from Cube you will have to buy a keyboard separately, which may not appeal to a large number of users.

Another competitor to the Irbis TW30 model is the Bravis WXi89 3G Black, which costs almost the same as the review model, but has a smaller screen - about 9 inches, which may be a deciding factor for a certain number of buyers. Other significant differences are the presence of a 3G module in the model from Bravis, but half the amount of built-in memory, and another difference in the clock frequency - only 1.33 GHz versus 1.83 for the TW30.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages of the model are as follows:

  • Big screen.
  • Windows system.
  • The ability to use it as a laptop thanks to the included keyboard.
  • Good battery life.
  • Affordable price.

Among the shortcomings, as you might expect, are the cameras - if they matter to you, of course, and the RAM capacity of 1 GB, which instills uncertainty that the tablet will work quickly. However, you can verify the optimal speed of the system and stop worrying about the amount of RAM, so the tablet has no disadvantages for its price as such.

conclusions

Summing up the review, we can state that the Irbis TW30 is a more than worthy device that fulfills the role of a transformable tablet well. The presence of a keyboard in the kit is a significant plus, to which are added a good screen, high performance and a capacious battery. For its price, the tablet will be for those who primarily need a compact device with which they can always type text or use office applications.

The installed system will allow you to use the Irbis TW30 as a computer anywhere, the battery will last throughout the working day, and the design is simple and has no frills. So the Irbis TW30 is an excellent tool for an office or educational institution.

Recently, more and more tablet computers running the Windows operating system have begun to appear on the Russian market. This is partly due to better adaptation of the OS to mobile devices with touch screens, which, in fact, are tablets. Today we are testing a 10.1” model on Windows 10 and the Intel® Atom™ Z3735F hardware platform. The gadget is equipped with a keyboard and is priced at 11,990 rubles, that is, it belongs to the budget segment.

Technical characteristics of Irbis TW30:

  • Platform: Windows 10
  • Display: 10.1”, 1280 x 800 pixels, 149 ppi, IPS
  • Camera: 2 MP
  • Front camera: 2 MP
  • Processor: Intel® Atom™ Z3735F (4 x 1.83 GHz, 64 bits)
  • Graphics chip: Intel® HD Graphics
  • RAM: 1 GB
  • ROM: 32 GB
  • Memory card: microSD
  • Wi-Fi (b/g/n)
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Battery: non-removable, 7000 mAh
  • Dimensions: 278 x 170 x 10 mm
  • Weight: 600 grams

Design and equipment

If you do not take into account the presence of a keyboard in the Irbis TW30 kit, the device’s package can be called standard: charger, USB-microUSB cord, instructions and warranty card.

The keyboard case supplied in the box has a touchpad. The keys are easy to press and have a clear stroke. It doesn't take long to get used to the keyboard - literally after an hour of use, the typing speed is no different from the typing speed on a regular computer or laptop keyboard. The keyboard is attached to the tablet very simply, and most importantly - quickly. Thus, on the bottom edge of the Irbis TX30 there are two special grooves and a contact pad between them. All you need to do is get into the mentioned grooves. That's it, now the tablet has become a compact laptop.

Irbis TW30 has a strict, discreet design. The corners of the case are rounded and the side edges are sloping, which facilitates a comfortable grip on the device. It is also worth noting the ribbed coating of the rear panel - the device fits well in your hands and does not slip out. The tablet body is made of high-quality black plastic. We rate the build quality as good. Here you will not find large gaps between the body panels or uneven joints. There are also no creaks or backlashes. At the top of the back of the Irbis TW30 there is a 2 MP main camera. Also on the back side there are slots for two multimedia speakers. The latter have good sound and a good volume reserve - good for movies. All connectors are located on the left side of the tablet. So, there is a round connector for charging, a full-fledged USB, a microUSB socket, a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones, a micro-HDMI port and a slot for a memory card (microSD) closed with a plug. At the top end of the Irbis TW30 there is a volume rocker and a power/screen activation key.

Irbis TW30 is equipped with a good IPS matrix, which provides the device with good picture quality. The tablet screen has good colors, high contrast and wide viewing angles. With a 10.1” diagonal, the resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels and this results in a pixel density per inch of 149 ppi. For a smartphone made in 2015, such a density would be a real disaster, but the tablet is at a greater distance from the eyes during use, so this does not lead to discomfort. In addition, a higher resolution would certainly lead to slowdowns and increased battery consumption. Here, in my opinion, it is better to compromise and disable the Wishlist configured for high resolution.

Cameras

It is clear that it is unlikely that you will be able to get high-quality photos from a 2-megapixel camera without autofocus, but it is quite capable of photographing text. For example, an announcement or schedule of classes at the university. The front camera (also 2-megapixel) is suitable for video calls on Skype.

Benchmarks and Performance

As a rule, tablets running the Windows operating system are used for working with text documents, email, communicating on social networks and surfing the Internet. The Irbis TW30 copes with these tasks with a bang. Moreover, the device is quite capable of serving as a gaming device. Of course, we are not talking about full-fledged games for Windows (for PCs), but there are no significant problems with mobile versions of games. The same Asphalt 8 runs on Irbis TW30 at maximum graphics settings. By the way, just recently a mobile version of the popular World of Tanks Blitz was released for devices running Windows 10. In this toy, the hero of the material also demonstrates good results, although not with the highest graphics.

The tablet uses the new 64-bit Intel® Atom™ Z3735F hardware platform, which includes a quad-core processor clocked at up to 1.83 GHz, Intel HD Graphics, and 1 GB of RAM. In addition to good performance, it is worth noting that this hardware platform is also “cold”, that is, it does not heat up under load in the same games. The Irbis TW30 model is equipped with a 7000 mAh battery. In a balanced mode of use, you will have to recharge the tablet once every 1-2 days. If we talk about autonomy in specific tasks, then the device can work with text documents at maximum screen brightness for about 7-8 hours.

conclusions

The Irbis TW30 tablet computer performed well. With its low price for this class of devices (11,990 rubles), the gadget boasts good performance, sufficient to perform the vast majority of tasks, a high-quality IPS screen and good battery life. I would also like to note the presence of a complete keyboard with a touchpad - this accessory greatly simplifies working with text documents on the tablet. You could even say that it turns the tablet into a compact laptop.

Intel Inside, Core and Intel Atom are trademarks of Intel Corporation in the US and other countries.

Windows tablets still occupy a small market share, but they have their own loyal audience. And all thanks to the unique capabilities - work and educational programs are often designed only for Windows. But with the release of Windows 10, the company also improved entertainment - all popular mobile games and programs appeared in the company store.

To run all this variety of applications and games you need a fast and economical processor. So for the Irbis TW30 tablet, Intel® Atom™ Z3735F was chosen - 4 cores up to 1.83 GHz, small process technology, 64 bits. And despite the fact that the new product costs only 11,990 rubles, it comes with a cover with a keyboard that turns the device into a compact laptop.

Characteristics

Processor/Memory: Intel® Atom™ Z3735F (4 cores, up to 1.8 GHz, 64 bits)
RAM: 1 GB
Built-in memory: 32 GB
OS: Windows 10
Screen: 10.1", IPS, Resolution 1280 x 800
Connectors: 3.5 (headphones), 2 USB (standard and micro), HDMI (MicroHDMI)
Main / front camera: 2 / 2 MP
Communications and connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.0
Micro SD memory card support (up to 32 GB)
Battery: Li-Ion 7000 mAh
Weight: 600 g
Black color
Housing (L x W x H): 278 x 188 x 10 mm

Appearance

The dimensions of the device are large for 10-inch tablets. This is explained by the fact that inside there is productive hardware and a huge 7,000 mAh battery. On the one hand, the frame around the display is wide, but the thickness of the body exceeds 10 mm. The device is entirely black, and the most unusual element is the ribbed back cover. It helps to hold the tablet in your hands so that it does not slip even in the most difficult conditions.

In addition, on the back there are a dozen small pointers that will help you find the right port or button. This is important, because it’s easy to get confused: on the top end there are volume control keys and a power button, and on the bottom there is a port for connecting a keyboard. The most ports are on the left side: there is a full-size USB port, Micro-USB, HDMI, 3.5 Jack and charging, and under the cover there is a slot for a MicroSD memory card.

Display

The Irbis TW30 tablet is equipped with a high-quality IPS matrix with bright and vibrant colors, but without the unnecessary saturation and contrast that TFT TN has. Also, compared to TN matrices, there are better viewing angles - there is no color distortion when tilting the device.
The display resolution is 1,280 by 800 pixels, which is far from a record. But a higher resolution would lead to increased load on the processor and battery. And those who really need a clearer image will be able to connect an external monitor.

Windows 10 system, office and applications

One of the benefits that the Irbis TW30 user receives is certificates for training programs and office. Moreover, the license for the latest Microsoft Office bundled with the tablet is unlimited. And schoolchildren and students will benefit from the second bonus - the set includes two certificates (total value 6,000 rubles), which provide access to textbooks and educational programs.

Other programs in the system are available from the Windows App Store, where almost all new mobile games, photo processing programs, clients for social networks and much more are already available. But no one forbids installing classic applications - in our tests, most programs with Windows XP and Windows 7 launched without problems. This means that users will be able to solve many work and educational tasks directly on the tablet.

Hardware platform and performance

Since this tablet claims to be a computer for serious tasks, the processor installed in it is a flagship one. This is the Intel® Atom™ Z3735F, which handles office or multiple browser tabs without the slightest delay. But its performance is enough even for small Photoshop files or running development environments. There is also a reserve for games here - you can even play DOTA2 or CS:GO, but more sophisticated and modern games can no longer be played.

Some screenshots from the games:

1 GB of RAM, which is quite a bit for a Windows environment. It is this parameter that will not allow, for example, opening a large graphic file in the editor. But this is beyond the scope of tasks that can and should be performed on a mobile tablet, even if it transforms into a laptop.
Of the 32 gigabytes of internal memory, about half remains, so installing a memory card is a must. On paper, support for microSD up to 32 GB is described, but in reality you can try a larger volume. By the way, an external hard drive will do for backup; it can be connected via USB.

Camera

The Irbis TW30 tablet has two identical 2 MP cameras. As a front camera, this solution looks more than worthy, because 1.3 megapixels would be enough for video calls. But the main camera, also 2 megapixels, is only suitable for emergency situations. But you shouldn’t blame the manufacturer for the lack of flash and low resolution; holding the tablet is too uncomfortable to actually use it for taking photos. Even if there is at least 21 megapixels, the user will still shoot with a phone or a separate camera.

Autonomous operation

The battery in the tablet has a much larger capacity than is usually installed in 10-inch models. The battery capacity is 7,000 mAh - enough for 7-8 hours of video viewing. And on the Internet via Wi-Fi the device will last more than 10 hours.

Contents: keyboard case and more

Even laptops often have primitive keyboards, and therefore miracles are not usually expected from tablets. In the case of the Irbis TW30, the keyboard turned out to be one of the best features of the model. At first I was surprised by the presence of a full-fledged touchpad with two buttons, which allows you to position the cursor more accurately than on a touch screen. And even more incredible was the fact that the designers decided to keep the number pad and function keys. They were placed on an alternative layout, but their presence makes life easier for everyone who makes a lot of calculations - students, accountants, and any managers constantly deal with numbers.

The keyboard itself is sewn into the case, and is connected to the tablet through a separate contact. This means that it does not occupy any USB and does not interfere with the operation of the device. In addition, there is no need to turn on Bluetooth and waste battery power.
And a little more equipment:

Most users associate a “tablet computer” with an Android device. However, today there are many models that operate under the Windows operating system. It’s just such a tablet that we’ll be talking about today. Meet Irbis TW30.

This model is notable for the presence of a “fresh” version of the OS – Windows 10, as well as a powerful 64-bit Intel® Atom™ hardware platform. Also a nice bonus is the presence of a complete keyboard. And all this for a budget price for this type of device - 11,990 rubles.

Characteristics of Irbis TW30:

  • Screen: diagonal - 10.1 inches, resolution - 1280 x 800 pixels, matrix type - IPS, capacitive touch
  • Hardware platform: Intel® Atom™ Z3735F, 4 cores x 1.8 GHz
  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • RAM capacity: 1 GB
  • Built-in memory: 32 GB
  • Memory card support: yes, MicroSD up to 32 GB
  • Wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Cameras: front – 2 MP, rear – 2 MP
  • Battery: 7,000 mAh
  • Dimensions: 278 x 170 x 10 mm
  • Weight: 600 grams

Equipment

The delivery package of the Irbis TW30 could well be called standard, if not for one “BUT” - the presence of a comfortable keyboard with a touchpad. We will talk about this accessory a little later, but for now we will list the contents of the box:
  • tablet computer Irbis TW30
  • AC power adapter
  • microUSB-USB cable
  • instructions
  • warranty card
  • keyboard Case

Appearance

Externally, the Irbis TW30 is no different from its Android counterparts, only if you do not take into account the fact that the hero of the material has a Windows logo under the screen. The tablet has a rather restrained design, no flashy details or other bold design moves.

The device feels comfortable in the hand and does not slip out. This is facilitated by the ergonomic shape of the case and the textured coating of the rear panel. Let us immediately note the good build quality of the Irbis TW30; there’s really nothing to complain about here.

Almost the entire front side of the tablet is occupied by the screen. Below it is the already mentioned Windows logo, consisting of four rectangles. Above the display there is a 2 MP front camera. This resolution is more than enough to provide a good image during video calls in Skype or Viber.

On the opposite side of the Irbis TW30 is the main camera. It's also 2-megapixel, so don't expect high-quality images from it. There are also two fairly loud speakers on the back. In addition, here we see logos and signatures of keys and ports located at the ends of the tablet.

So, on the top edge of the device there is a volume rocker and a power button. The keys rise slightly above the body, so they are easy to feel even without looking. All buttons have a clear movement, and pressing them is accompanied by a characteristic click.

All connectors are located on the left side of the Irbis TW30: USB, microUSB, microHDMI, 3.5 mm audio output and a round connector for charging. There is also a slot for a MicroSD memory card covered with a plug.

The right end is empty.

But on the bottom we see a contact pad and two grooves to which the supplied keyboard is attached. As promised, we’ll tell you more about this accessory. The Irbis TW30 keyboard pleased us with its good ergonomics. You get used to it quite quickly and typing occurs at exactly the same speed as on a desktop computer or laptop. The keys are soft and have a clear stroke. In addition, the keyboard has a touchpad, so there is no need to purchase a mouse.

Hardware platform

In the introduction, we already said that Irbis TW30 is based on the new 64-bit Intel® Atom™ hardware platform. This case uses an Intel® Atom™ Z3735F with a quad-core 1.8 GHz processor. The amount of RAM is not the largest among similar devices - 1 GB, but this is quite enough to perform most tasks.

We rate the performance of the Irbis TW30 as good. The tablet works very, very quickly. Moreover, this applies to both the operating system and programs and even games for mobile devices (full-fledged toys on such hardware are unlikely to run without “brakes”). In benchmarks, the tablet scores the following results:

Screen

The Irbis TW30 tablet computer is equipped with a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The image quality is good; on such a screen it is pleasant not only to work with text and surf the Internet, but also to view photos or movies. The matrix of the device is made using IPS technology. Hence the rich colors, as well as wide viewing angles. In general, the Irbis TW30 display is quite good.

Battery

The Irbis TW30 uses a 7,000 mAh lithium-ion battery. A full charge will last approximately 7-8 hours in “Word+browser” mode at maximum screen brightness. In our opinion, it’s not bad at all. Cameras Let's just give examples of pictures from the main 2-megapixel camera:

Bottom line

Irbis TW30 is an inexpensive, one might even say budget, Windows tablet computer. As a rule, such devices do not have interesting characteristics. The same cannot be said about the hero of today’s material. Firstly, the presence of productive Intel® Atom™ hardware. Secondly, a good display. Thirdly, a convenient included keyboard. At the same time, we did not find any obvious flaws in the Irbis TW30. But if we are to find fault, we would like to see a more powerful main camera with autofocus and flash in the model. Overall, the device is worth the money. Let us remind you that the Irbis TW30 is priced at 11,990 rubles. Intel Inside, Core and Intel Atom are trademarks of Intel Corporation in the US and other countries.
