How to set night mode on Android. List of Panasonic Radiotelephone functions

Test versions of Android N during development included some interesting innovations that were not available to users in the final version. So, we recently wrote about how to return to nougat, and today we’ll tell you how to activate night mode in Android 7.0 Nougat.

To begin with, let us remind you that the “good corporation” has been trying to introduce “night mode” into its mobile system for several years now. At first, Google satisfied the hopes of users even before the release of Marshmallow, then announced and introduced it in preliminary builds of Android N. But, as it turned out, there was no place for “night mode” in the final release of Android 7.0 Nougat. In fact, the developers did not remove this function from the system, but made it hidden in the system interface. Google attributed this to some performance issues. It is possible that after they are eliminated, “night mode” will appear in future updates, but there remains a possibility that this feature may be completely removed from the system.

In order to return the “night mode”, you will need knowledge of ADB (a tool that allows you to control an Android device from a computer) and its corresponding command. Of course, advanced users and various enthusiasts could not help but take advantage of this opportunity. One of these was Android application developer Michael Evans, who wrote a small program to activate “night mode” on Android 7.0 Nougat. Moreover, you don’t need ADB knowledge at all, the program is simple, even ordinary users can use it.
Instructions for adding the “night mode” option to the Android 7.0 Nougat system interface:

  1. Install the application.
  2. Launch Night Mode Enabler. You will be prompted to activate the additional settings section of the System UI Tuner interface (if you have not activated it before).
  3. Click on a single button in the Enable Night Mode app. You will be taken to the “night mode” settings menu. Here you can activate the mode automatically depending on the time of day and location, turn on the filter and adjust its intensity.
  4. That's all. You can check the settings in the notification panel - the corresponding “night mode” icon should appear next to other system settings.
You can also watch the entire activation process in the video.

This, of course, is not the “dark theme” that many expected to see in the new system, but, nevertheless, a useful “feature” that works at the system level.

Some may wonder what night mode is in practice. In simple words, this is a decrease in the brightness of the backlight of the mobile device screen and a change in the intensity of “cold” blue light to a “warmer” yellow-orange. It is known that bright blue light in the evening and at night (from a TV, monitor or smartphone screen) has a bad effect not only on vision, but also on the body as a whole - many studies indicate this. In addition, the light emitted by such displays interferes with the production of melatonin, which is responsible for sleep and human biorhythms.

The “night mode” function in any case has a positive effect on the perception of the light source of various devices. For example, many applications for reading e-books have this option; there are a dozen utilities that specialize specifically in adjusting the color temperature of mobile devices. And not so long ago, Apple integrated a similar system-level feature into iOS 9.3.

List of Panasonic Radiotelephone functions

BABY MONITOR function- You can carry out acoustic control of a room, for example, a nursery from other rooms in the house. One tube is installed next to the child, and the second is installed near the parents. Thus, if the baby unexpectedly wakes up and cries, the handset will automatically call the second one, and you will be able to hear what is happening in the nursery

"ECO MODE" BUTTON - By switching to eco mode with one press of a button, you can reduce the power level of the base unit's radio signal. When the handset is not located on the base unit, or multiple handsets are registered, the radio signal power level of the base unit in standby mode can be reduced by up to 90% by switching to Eco mode at the touch of a button.

POWER BACKUP FUNCTION- Power backup function allows the phone to work even during a power outage. The operation of the base unit is ensured by the handset batteries. You need to install the handset on the base unit and use the speakerphone to make and answer calls. And thanks to the Power Backup 2.0 function, the conversation is not interrupted immediately at the moment of a power outage. The user has 1 minute to place the handset on the base unit and, using the speakerphone, make and receive calls. When registering two or more handsets, one must remain on the base unit to supply power, and using the second handset, you can talk normally

Using a smartphone in the dark is not very good for the eyes - everyone knows this, but they continue to scroll through social media feeds before going to bed. iOS, for example, comes with pre-installed night shift features to reduce eye-damaging light. And if your device doesn't have one, there are a few useful apps you can try to protect your eyes when using your device at night.

Twilight is an application that offers users much more features and has 2 versions: free and paid.

Both versions can equally adjust the color of your device's screen at night. The premium version is equipped with recognition of your location to set solar time, sunset and sunrise, which changes the screen color automatically. In addition, users can also set the app to be turned on/off completely, as well as the ability to activate Twilight when.

Darker will help reduce eye fatigue by reducing screen brightness to extreme levels while still having low color filters. Additionally, you can also dim the brightness of the touch buttons on your phone (if available), and adjust the brightness separately in the notification panel, but unfortunately this feature is not free. Although you can still use the basic options in free mode.

3. Bluelight Filter - Night Mode

With a blue light filter, you won't have to worry about your eyes getting tired or sore when using your phone for hours. The advantage of the application is the ability to adjust the temperature of different screens.

4.Dimly

Dimly - Screen Dimmer is the simplest app on the list. Firstly, Dimly is very lightweight and does not affect the performance of the machine. You will have an intuitive interface and the most necessary settings. Also removes harmful light like other apps, but you will have the added feature of shaking your phone to restore brightness. Dimly also has in-app purchases to remove ads and add various new features.

5. Applications for F. Lux and CF root. lumen

F.Lux is a multi-platform application available on PC and Mac. The PC version of F. Lux allows users to install different profiles that can be installed automatically. F. Lux also has the ability to work on a time zone basis. The weak point of F. Lux is that it only supports Android 5.0 and above and rooted devices.

A special screen setting, at which the color temperature becomes warmer, eliminates the blue glow - the picture looks slightly less natural, but less strain on the eyes

Does vision need night mode?

Over the past few decades, scientists have been studying how blue light affects vision and the human body in general. Research results have confirmed its negative impact on humans. In particular, scientists from the American University of Toledo concluded that blue light leads to retinal degeneration. Pathology occurs due to its rapid aging.

As it turned out, under the influence of blue light, retinal, that is, a type of vitamin A found in the retina of the eye, changes. From a useful element it is converted into a toxic substance, which leads to pathology. In addition, retinal is sometimes converted to lipofuscin. It is a pigment with a characteristic yellow-brown color. It accumulates in cells that do not divide and damages them over time.

Changing the retinal formula also leads to the accumulation of calcium in the cells, which leads to their deformation and, ultimately, to death. But this is not the only negative effect of blue light on vision. It also negatively affects the cornea of the eye. In addition, it leads to poor sleep as it blocks the production of the hormone melatonin, which can lead to a number of serious diseases.

Vision becomes especially sensitive to blue light in poor lighting conditions, that is, in the dark. To reduce its negative impact on users’ health, smartphone manufacturers began to introduce such an option as “night mode”. True, not all smartphones have this name. For example, in Meizu and Xiaomi devices it is simply called “Eye Protection”, and in Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphones it is called “Blue Light Filter”.

How to activate night mode on bare-bones Android phones

First of all, we note that out of the box the “Night mode” option is supported only by two versions of Android – Nougat and Oreo. To enable it, you need to do the following:

  • Go to your phone settings.
  • Select Display.
  • Tap your finger on Night Mode.
  • Turn the switch to On mode.

Here you can set a schedule for automatically turning this mode on and off, as well as enable automatic on/off after dark. In this case, your smartphone itself will determine by location when to activate the protective mode and deactivate it.

Smartphones with shells on top of Android

As we said above, many smartphone manufacturers add the “Night mode” function in their proprietary shells. As a rule, the corresponding switch is located in the notification shade. In addition, you can look for this option in the display settings.

In addition to the brands already mentioned, eye protection from blue light is available in smartphones from manufacturers such as Huawei, Asus, etc.

If your phone doesn't have eye protection mode

There are special applications that do an excellent job. An example of this is the popular Bluelight Filter application. It has all the features of Night mode in Android.

In addition, there are many other similar programs: “Night Screen”, “Night Mode: Blue Light Filter for Migraines”, “Protecting My Eyes”, etc.

Light filter on iPhone

The ability to turn on the light filter is available not only in smartphones running Android, but also iOS versions 9 and 10. To turn it on, you need to follow these steps:

  • In the settings, select “General” and then “Universal access”;
  • Select the “Display Adaptation” category and find “Filters” in it;
  • Check the box next to “Hue” and set the two sliders below to maximum.

In addition, iPhone users have the opportunity to download a special FlexBright application with a blue light filter from the App Store.

The test builds of Android N had a “night mode”, but it disappeared in the release version of Android 7.0 Nougat. As it turned out, the code responsible for the operation of this function has not disappeared. You just need to activate it, after which an option will appear in the settings that allows you to enable “night mode”.

“Night mode” in Android works the same way as the f.lux program on computers or the Night Shift function in iOS, that is, it allows you to change the colors on the screen to warmer shades at night. This has a beneficial effect on vision, reduces headaches that can occur during intense screen work, and also relaxes and prepares a person for healthy and sound sleep.

How to enable night mode in Android 7.0?

1. Activate System UI Tuner. To do this, pull down the notification shade with two fingers, tap on the settings icon and hold it for a few seconds until a notification pops up. A new section will appear in the settings - System UI Tuner.

2. Install the Night Mode Enabler application. It's free and activates a hidden "night mode" code.

3. Launch the Night Mode Enabler application and click the Enable Night Mode button in it (activate “night mode”). You will be redirected to a hidden section of the System UI Tuner with “night mode” settings.

4. Activate the “night mode” by moving the toggle switch in its settings to the On position. You can choose one of two options for turning on this mode: manually (at any time) or automatically by system selection (during the evening and at night). The two lower items allow you to adjust changes in color shades and screen brightness. It is recommended to activate both of them.

The night mode switch can also be added to the quick settings buttons, which are located at the top of the notification panel. To do this, expand the curtain, click on the “Edit” button and drag the “night mode” icon to the rest of the icons you use. Clicking on it will allow you to instantly turn this mode on and off.

Keep in mind that when Night Mode is activated, the screen will appear reddish. It's okay, that's exactly how it works.
