Greetings, my dear readers, to the new page of my blog. I looked at the records that already exist and noticed a significant omission of one detail. I forgot to write a review about the very cool and easy-to-use program DAEMON Tools Lite. Many are already familiar with this name, and some probably use it successfully. But as always, I’ll look at all her bones, so let’s get started.

Downloading and installing the DAEMON Tools Lite program.

You can download the program from several sources, and I will now provide them to you:

Download and run the installation. We indicate the Russian language, or the one you prefer, and agree to the license agreement. Don't forget to indicate that we will use a free license. In the window for selecting components to install, do not forget to check whether the gadget for the Windows desktop is checked.

Also, opposite the plus, expand the list and add a checkmark next to ISO format to the value; it is unchecked by default. We indicate the location on the computer where the program will be installed. We wait a little and receive a question about installing the gadget on the desktop, with which we agree.

Be careful, in the last window you will be prompted to install a bunch of unnecessary junk from Yandex. If you think that you don’t need it, feel free to uncheck all the boxes. Once the installation is complete, a gadget for quick access to the main functions of the program will appear on your desktop, which is very convenient.

Detailed guide to working with Deamon Tools lite

In order not to take a huge number of screenshots and not confuse you, I made one screenshot of the main work site and marked it with three Latin letters and numbers. Having indicated a letter or number, I will describe on the contrary what function and action it performs.

Well, let's get started?

The place is marked with a letter "A"- this is the area in which the added disk images are located. There can be a lot of them, this does not mean that they are already mounted, they are just located in the program window. You can add them in several ways, the first is to do it in this area, right click and select Add image and indicate the path to it, the second option is to click on the icon marked with a number 1 and the third way is to simply drag the image from the Explorer folder into the program window.

If there are already some images in the window, then you can hover over any of them and right-click to bring up a small menu. In principle, all the functions of which we will consider below in the control panel “B”. The next time you open the program window, you will see previously used images, something akin to history.

Control Panel "IN"— the main springboard for working with disks and virtual drives.

  1. Adds an image, that is, what we have already analyzed in panel “A”.
  2. Deletes images from the program, if you want to delete all images from the list of recent ones at once, click on this writing and all the images under it will be highlighted, similarly with the image catalog.
  3. Specify the image and click on this shortcut, the disk will be mounted and a content window will open in Explorer.
  4. Unmounts a previously mounted image.
  5. Unmounts all drives if you have several.
  6. Creates, adds a virtual drive, DT device.
  7. Creates, adds a virtual drive, SCSI device.
  8. Deletes the selected virtual drive.
  9. Creates a disk image from any CD/DVD media inserted into the drive. In the settings, specify where the image will be saved. Useful for creating a copy of drivers for your laptop or PC. You can also extract games purchased on discs.
  10. Launches a special program, if installed, to write the selected image to a real disk.
  11. Calls up a primitive window with settings. In fact, in this program there is no way to configure everything as simply and conveniently as possible. In the settings you can change the language, set hotkeys for unmounting everything and mounting it on the first disk.
  12. Calling up a small menu in which you can visit the English-language forum, call online help, check the update and change the license.
  13. Buy a more sophisticated version.

In the area marked with the letter “C” there are virtual drives (devices) of the program. There may be one or more of them. A mounted drive looks a little different than empty drives, as can be seen in the screenshot. Mounted and empty drives have their own menu; to open it, right-click on the desired device. In addition to the drives themselves, the area itself also has some menu, called up in the same way, only you need to click in the empty right side.

In conclusion, I would like to provide you with a video that shows how to make a portable version without unnecessary movements from the already installed Deamon Tools Lite program. Use this program, convenient in every sense, to read any type of disk image.

Well, I say goodbye until a new review. I wish you a good PC experience and fewer problems.

With all respect, Andrew.

We work with the Daemon Tools program - details.

If you have been using a computer for more than six months, on your user journey you have probably come across files with incomprehensible extensions like .mds, .iso, .nrg... What are these files? These are disk images created by one or another special program as a result of the image creation process. Creating an image means making an exact copy of a CD\DVD\Blue-Ray disc onto your hard drive. In order for these files to be opened on a computer, you will have to use one of many special emulating programs. Let's look at how to use one of these programs, namely Daemon Tools.

When the image disappears, you can launch Daemon Tools itself. We wait for the program to check the license and see the main window.

The image catalog is empty because no images have been added. On the icon bar we see:

Button to add an image to the catalog.

Button for removing an image from the directory (not from the disk!).

    Starting the drive.

    Stopping and dismounting the drive.

    Stopping and unmounting all drives.

Button to add a virtual DT drive. I’ll tell you more about this. The fact is that a large number of licensed discs have copy protection. And when disk emulation occurs, the protection of the licensed disk automatically detects the virtual drive and blocks reading data from it. This protection can be bypassed by a DT drive, which can be installed by pressing this button.

Installing a new SCSI drive. With this button you can add a regular virtual drive.

    Removing a dedicated drive.

Additional features (can be accessed either by clicking a button or by expanding the window). These are the buttons Create a disk image, Burn (burn) a disk from an image, Settings and Help.

All functions of the main window were discussed above. Let’s configure the program by clicking on the “Settings” button. We see the following window:

In the "General" tab everything is clear, set it up and go to the next tab. There is nothing complicated here - if you need to assign hot keys, click the cursor on the desired field and press the required keys.

Integration Tab– we don’t change anything, and the files – images can be opened by this program.

Connection Tab– if necessary, enter the required data there.

"Confirmations"– if you check the required actions, the program will ask you to confirm your action (for example, when deleting a drive, the program will ask “Are you sure you want to delete this drive?”)

"Additionally"- fine settings of the program, you can read more on the Internet.

"Media - information"- at your request.

So, the program is configured. Now let's move on to the most important thing - mounting the image. Select the desired drive and click the button to add the image to the catalog.

In this case, the file is called NFS_Carbon. Select it and click “Open”.

The file appeared in the images directory. To mount the image, double-click on the image in the directory. That's it, the disk is mounted.

In order to stop emulating the image in the drive, click “Stop”.

Using Daemon Tools Lite to create virtual CD/DVD drives

The Daemon Tools program is rightfully considered one of the best tools for creating virtual drives that will bypass a variety of copy protection systems, such as SecuROM, SafeDisc, StarForce, Protect CD and many others.

There are four versions of this software in total, and only one of them is free. The rest can be used without payment only for a 20-day trial period. They differ in the number of virtual drives that can be created and some other features. However, all versions, without exception, support formats such as ccd, ape/cue, bin/cue, iso, isz, mdx, cdi, mds, nrg.

This is what the Daemon Tools Lite program menu looks like. It may not seem very informative, but it is quite enough for productive work with this software.

In principle, to work with the program it is not at all necessary to run it in this form. After all, the installed Daemon Tolls is usually displayed in the lower right corner of your desktop.

In this case, it will be enough to right-click on this icon to access the main functions of the program. But for greater clarity, it is worth considering this software in the mode that is presented in the first image.

The first two buttons on this panel allow you to add images to the catalog. Images can be created by both this and other special programs, and their extensions were indicated above. Once you add an image to this directory, you can always quickly access it later, unless its location on the computer changes. The second button removes the image from the catalog. You will need to do this if you want to delete the image file.

The next three buttons are needed in order to place images directly on the virtual drive. The first of them allows you to mount the image. If you already have added images in your catalog, then by selecting one of them and clicking on the “Mount” button, you will quickly download this image. If there are no images in the catalog, the user will be offered the opportunity to search for them using Explorer. In order to remove the image from the virtual drive, just click on the “Unmount” button, which comes next. The next, third button allows you to unmount all virtual drives at once. Even in the free version there can be as many as 4 of them, while in the advanced professional version the number of drives is 32.

The next three buttons are responsible for adding and removing new virtual drives. You can add a DT or SCSI drive. There is not much difference between them, and it all depends on how copy protection reacts to the presence of one of these types of virtual drives. In any case, you can easily add as many of them as the program's capabilities allow. The third button removes the drives, which only takes a couple of seconds.

The two buttons next to each other relate to functions such as creating a disk image and writing an image to disk. If you click on the first of them, then this image creation window will appear in front of you.

Here you can select the drive that contains the disk whose image you want to create. Then select the reading speed and indicate the location where the image file will be saved. Its data can be compressed to save space.

But to burn the image to disk, you will need to install the special program Astroburn Lite. After installing it, it will be enough to simply select one of the images that are in your directory and click on the “Burn image” button.

So, the last ones are the settings and help buttons. In the settings, you select the language, file associations and some other features that can make using the program more comfortable. The help field traditionally takes the user to the developer's website, support service, and allows you to check for updates.

Using this program is very simple, and a small number of buttons on the panel allows you to quickly understand all its functions. That is why at present even

Daemon Tools is one of the most popular programs for working with disk images in ISO, BIN, CUE, MDF, CAB, and other formats. The most common use of the program is to mount an image into a virtual drive, which makes it possible to install and run various programs without using the original installation disk. Next, we will talk about the program's capabilities and I will write a short guide on how to work with Daemon Tools to create, edit and burn disk images.

Purpose of Daemon Tools

This program creates a virtual drive in the system where you can mount (attach) images of folders and disks. An image is an exact copy of the original disk or list of files and folders. Almost all games, operating systems, application software packages, and boot packages for flash drives downloaded online and on torrents are presented in the form of images created in one program or another, and almost all of them are in ISO format. These images can be opened using special utilities - Daemon Tools, UltraISO, Nero and the like.

Where to download DaemonTools

Previously, the program had free versions that were presented on the developer's website. Now there are only paid versions, and older free versions can be easily found on the Internet. It's best to download the daemon tool from the developer's website. In this case, you will protect yourself from the fact that a virus or adware may be embedded into the program. If you download Demon Tools from a third-party resource, it must be a reputable portal. In addition, you will need the serial code for the version you are installing if you need a fully functional program.

How to install Daemon Tools

After downloading the program installation package, run it. The program installation window will appear. The free version of the program will additionally install a bunch of unnecessary software for you if you just click “Next”. So I recommend choosing installation options and unchecking those items that you do not consider necessary.

I am against pirated software, but for informational purposes I downloaded a fully functional version with a “medicine” from a torrent. Here is the folder and file structure of the Daemon Tools Pro Advanced installation kit.

We launch the installation of Daemon Tools Pro. The main window will appear with a selection of available languages for installation. Select the appropriate one and click “Next”. We accept the license agreement and go to the license type selection page. Since we have a “cure” for the program, we choose a trial license.

Next, select the program components that need to be installed. I left all the checkboxes by default. Wait until the program is installed. In the toolbar settings window, uncheck all the boxes. Next will complete the installation and launch the program.

How to use ISO image in Daemon Tools

If we have an ISO image that we want to use, we need to open Daemon Tools, Click the "Add Image" button, select the desired image file, and click the "Mount" button. There is an alternative way to mount an ISO image into a virtual drive - you need to right-click on the image file and select “Mount” -> the desired virtual drive Demon Tools in the context menu that appears.

The program allows you to create image files in ISO format from folders and files, as well as from discs in the drive. If we have a disk that we want to create an image of, so that we can then transfer it to someone over the network or use it on our computer without the original disk.

How to create an ISO image in Daemon Tools Pro? Very simple. To do this, open the main program window and click the “Create disk image” button.

In addition, Daemon Tools Pro provides extensive customization options for creating images. For example, we can create an image file not only in ISO format, but also in MDX, MDS/MDF formats; It is possible to select the disk format whose image we need, and the ability to divide the image into several parts depending on the final size of the image.
