Dear readers! If you have any questions or comments on the topic of the article, please leave them below.

In theory, the so-called Windows boot manager is believed to appear when the computer starts only if there are two or more operating systems installed on board. However, this is not always the case. Most of this may be due to the presence of one OS installed on top of another for which residual components have not been removed. Naturally, when transferring control from the BIOS, the operating system is offered a choice of which one it wants to run. This is where the “Boot Manager” comes in, since not every user knows how to delete boot entries or partitions. However, even despite this factor, you can disable the bootloader. But first, let's look at what it really is.

Windows Boot Manager: What is it?

As is already clear, this service is designed to select an operating system when starting a computer device. It is compatible with all known operating systems and can boot not only Windows, but UNIX-like systems like Linux. Don't delude yourself - it's not designed for Mac OS X.

However, problems often arise when starting Windows systems themselves. The same residual files that were not deleted during the installation of a new system over the old one (or when installing a new OS into a virtual partition) “Boot Manager” first analyzes all startup records available in all partitions (both physical and logical), after which suggests downloading a specific version of the OS. As is already clear, this is quite inconvenient. The wait is quite long, especially if the files of the old system were damaged, but are still physically located on the hard drive.

How to disable a service in the simplest way?

The issue of disabling is to use the system configuration settings, which can be reached by entering the msconfig command in the Run console.

In the download window you can perform (at least) two main actions:

  • select the boot OS and use it as the default;
  • second OS.

After saving the changes made, the “Download Manager” will no longer appear.

System parameters

Also, for convenience, you can use the system properties section, called up through the RMB menu on the computer icon, where you can go to the boot and recovery options.

Here you just need to select your preferred operating system to start, specify the time period for displaying a list of all installed OSes and save the changes. It is clear that setting a zero value, expressed in seconds, to start the OS does not provide for the appearance of the “Boot Manager” upon a subsequent system restart (if there are really two or more systems). But if your computer uses a virtual machine with a different OS, it is not recommended to change these settings.

Debugging from the command line

It makes much more sense to use the command console. Ordinary users do not like to work with it, considering the commands and executable processes to be too abstruse. But advanced users understand that the command console is almost the only salvation even in case of critical system failures.

In our situation, you can do two things. The first solution comes down to logging into the selected system via the bootloader as an administrator, launching a command line (necessarily as an administrator) and executing the command bcdedit.exe /default (current) in it. This way, the currently used operating system for booting will be installed by default.

The second option also involves using the command console, but only to remove the extra system proposed for launch. The line used here is bcdedit.exe /delete (ntldr) /f. The current OS (in which all actions are currently performed) remains unchanged, and the second (or its remnants) is excluded from the boot.

Android Download Manager

Finally, a few words about mobile systems. We take Android devices solely as an example (Apple devices also have such functions).

Unlike desktop systems, this applet is presented either as a starter application with a choice of downloading between Windows and Android, which is found exclusively on Chinese counterfeit smartphones and tablets. Original devices do not have such a function (unless the user himself installed a second operating system, which is unlikely).

The applet itself is a common means of tracking and controlling the downloading of files and belongs to the category of programs called downloaders. Some applications contain additional functions in the form of system optimization or the presence of a VPN module, but all this has absolutely nothing to do with analogue Windows systems.

Roughly speaking, if you can install two Windows systems on one terminal with a choice of different partitions, then such tricks do not work in the case of smartphones or tablets based on Android. In general, if you are offered an Android device with multiple OSes on board, you can be sure that it is a cheap fake, since the original devices use only one OS.

Let's talk today about how to stop downloading on Android. It happens that you download something or the applications themselves are updated, and then the connection takes over and... breaks off. The connection appears, but the download remains stuck at the same levels. Neither here nor there. And canceling doesn't work. The loading hangs, it hangs and is annoying. The first and second advice from the search engine do not work. And the loading hangs and is ANNOYING. Once again I forgot where to dig and decided to make a manual for myself, maybe it will be useful to someone else. Let me remind you that other posts on optimizing your phone or tablet can be found in the section.

How to cancel or interrupt a download on Android? Below are short but very detailed instructions and many screenshots. It works on Android version 4.0.3 and others, but on my smart with version 4.4.2 KitKat there was no need to stop downloading. The download itself was removed, and then resumed when a network signal appeared. An unloaded file in the "Downloads" folder has the status "Queued". Additional loading does not work in all cases. If your load cannot be removed, then proceed to cleaning it yourself.

I quote below 2 options for disabling downloads that are “hanging”. Rather, these are not even options, but paths to one solution. I wrote about how to remove the “Waiting for downloading..” notification in the post

Option one.

1. Go to the menu. Click on the “Applications” item. You can also access this item through the “Settings” (“Options”) icons on the desktop.

2. In the “Applications” menu, go to the “All” tab and look for “Download Manager”. Click.

3. In the download manager, you must click “Erase data”. This will stop the download task.

4. We receive the last warning and agree. Here we are warned that the incompletely downloaded file will be deleted.

5. We get a clean screen without unfinished downloads. The whole thing took 3 minutes.

It is done. The download icon has disappeared, the undownloaded file from the “downloads” folder has disappeared. You can move on with your life in peace.

Option two.

We pull down the top curtain, find the download and with a long tap (click) call up the pop-up form “About the application”.

Click and the download manager will open. There is no need to stop the “Download Manager” itself, we only need to erase the data.

We will receive a warning that the downloaded data will be deleted. The warning is threatening, but this is the standard and only warning for all applications, so the Android authors included there all the dangers that they could foresee when deleting data from any applications. We agree (or disagree).

It's done again. The download icon has disappeared again, the undownloaded file from the “downloads” folder has disappeared, the arrow is not annoying, resources are freed up.

You can see other little tricks about increasing memory and settings for Android in posts and. Good luck, and don't download!

Google Play, aka Play Market or Play Store- all this is the same program, which is one of the main ones in the Android operating system, because it is it that opens the doors to the world of applications and games for our smartphone and tablet. But sometimes it happens that when we launch the Google Play market, instead of the usual applications, we see a page with the inscription "Check your connection and try again" and the Retry button or the market gives some errors. Unfortunately, the Google Play application, like absolutely any other program, is not immune to all sorts of errors and failures in its operation. This happens quite often, and if suddenly you have a similar message or the application does not load at all, then this article is for you.

In this article we will try to answer the question: “What to do if the Google Play market does not work or does not start on your smartphone or tablet?”, as well as describe all sorts of problems when working with the Play Store and ways to solve them.

Method No. 1

Check the Internet on your device

It would seem that the answer is tritely simple, but for Google Play to work, a working Internet connection is required. Therefore, first of all, check whether the Wi-Fi network or mobile Internet (packet data transfer) is working on your smartphone or tablet; maybe you just forgot to turn them on. If everything works, go to any of the browsers that you have installed - Chrome, Firefox, Opera and open some page to make sure that the Internet is working. If the Internet is not working, then reboot your router or router.

Method No. 2

Reboot your Android device

Usually, as when working with a computer, rebooting will help solve many problems that may arise when working with the Android operating system, including Google Play.

Method No. 3

Check the firewall or antivirus software installed on the device

Typically, antivirus applications do not restrict the operation of the Play Market, unless you yourself accidentally blocked the application’s access to the Internet in the firewall settings. Check the settings of your antivirus software and firewall applications.

Method No. 4

Clear cache and delete data in Google Play app

This method solves the problem in most cases.

Step 1 Go to Settings app on your smartphone or tablet

Step 2 Find and open the menu item Application Manager or Applications and go to the All tab

Step 3 Find and open the Google Play Store program by clicking on its name with your finger

Step 4 In the window that opens, click on the Erase data and Clear cache buttons

Method No. 5

Uninstall all Google Play app updates

If the operations performed in method No. 4 did not help, you can also remove updates for the Google Play Store application. To do this, in the "About the application" window, click the Uninstall updates button. All updates to the application will be removed and it will return to its original state as when it was first launched. Restart Android and try to access the Play Store again.

Method No. 6

Clear the cache in the Google Play Services app

If you still have Google Play not working, then try clearing the cache in the Google Play Services application. You can also find it among all installed programs. In the About window, click the Clear cache button

Method No. 7

Clear data in Google Services Framework app

The Google Services Framework application is responsible for the correct operation of all Google services. If neither clearing the cache nor deleting data and all Google Play updates helped you, try also clearing data in the Google Services Framework. To do this, find the application in the menu Application Manager or Applications and open it. In the "About the application" window, click on the Erase data button and restart your smartphone or tablet.

Method No. 8

Enable disabled Google apps and Download Manager (Downloads)

Often Google Play stops working if you accidentally turned off key Google applications and Download Manager, which play a direct role in the performance of the service. To check this, go to Settings → Applications → Disabled, if there is no such tab, then All (disabled applications will be at the very bottom) and see if the Download Manager and Google services are disabled, such as - Google Accounts, Google+ social network, Google Services Framework and others, if any, be sure to enable them.

Method number 9

Delete your Google account and restore it again

Sometimes a broken Play Market app store can be restored simply by deleting your Google account and then adding it again.

Step 1 Go to the Settings app and find the option there Accounts (Accounts)

Step 2 Open your Google account and select Remove account

Step 3 Then restart your Android device and add your Google account again.

Method No. 10

If you receive a "No Connection" error, check the time and date

If you have the wrong time set on your smartphone or tablet, you are likely to get an error "No connection". Therefore, please check that the time is correct and enter your time zone. It's best to sync these settings via your operator's mobile network or Wi-Fi. To do this, in the Settings application, select Date and time and check the “Network date and time” and “Network time zone” checkboxes.

Method No. 11

Reset Android settings (Hard Reset)

This method is the most radical if none of the methods listed have helped you. You can read how to Hard Reset a smartphone or tablet in the article How to reset Android to factory settings. But before you do this and delete all data, applications and contacts from your Android device, we recommend that you make a backup copy of the information you need, which can be restored later.

We hope that at least one of the methods will help you solve the problem with the Google Play market. But it may also happen that none of the listed methods will help you, then seek help from specialists.
