The iPad asks for a password code. How to recover Apple ID account data. Guide: How to unlock iPad if you forgot your password

The question of what to do if you forgot your iPhone password arises among users quite often. Since the password is an important security element, the reset process is as complicated as possible so that only the real owner of the device can carry it out. The procedure depends on which key was lost. There are several types of security keys on iPhone, the most common being lock screen and Apple ID account codes.

You cannot change the blocking code or send a reminder by email. The only way to restore access is to reset the operating system to factory settings and delete user content. To return personal information to your device, you will need a backup copy, which can be stored in iCloud or iTunes.

There are 2 methods to roll back the system to its original state:

  • In iTunes.
  • Using Find My iPhone in iCloud.

Let's look at each method separately so that you can choose the option that suits your situation.

Reset in iTunes

The answer to the question of what to do if you forgot the password for your iPhone, and how to reset the key through iTunes, depends on whether the phone was previously synchronized with the program. If you actively used the connection to iTunes before access problems arose, then you can remove the forgotten key by simply restoring your iPhone.

  1. Connect your phone to the computer with which you synchronized via iTunes.
  2. Wait until the synchronization process completes and the backup is created.
  3. Click "Restore iPhone".

During iPhone recovery, the user's personal data will be deleted from the phone, but this is not a problem - an up-to-date backup was created when connected. To select it, you must select the “Recover from iTunes copy” option when restoring your device. As a result, you will receive the device in the same condition as it was before you lost the unlock password.

Reset in recovery mode

If synchronization with iTunes was not carried out, then it will be more difficult. It is recommended to reset using iCloud, which is described below, but you can also wipe your phone through iTunes using recovery mode.

  1. Connect your phone and launch iTunes.
  2. Perform a force restart on iOS. Press and hold the Power and Home buttons until the recovery screen appears.
  3. A window will appear in iTunes asking you to select an operating mode - update or restore. Click "Restore".

After the recovery is complete, you will receive a “clean” device without a password or user data. If there is no backup copy, you will not be able to recover the lost information.

Using iCloud

If the Find My iPhone option is enabled on your smartphone and you remember your Apple ID password, you can use the iCloud storage tools to reset. User content will be deleted, but it can be returned from the copy.

  1. Open icloud.com.
  2. Sign in using your Apple ID.
  3. Open the Find iPhone section. Expand the All Devices list and select your phone.
  4. Click "Erase" to reset the system.

After a factory reset, you need to return the data to your phone from a backup or set up your iPhone as new. In any case, the password on the lock screen will be removed.

Apple ID recovery

If you have forgotten your Apple ID authorization key, the procedure for restoring it will be significantly different from resetting the screen unlock code. Gaining access again does not require resetting the operating system or deleting content. Just go to the ID management site and set a new password.

  1. Open the page https://appleid.apple.com. Click "Forgot your Apple ID or Password?"
  2. Enter your Apple ID and code from the picture. If you have forgotten your Apple ID, click on the appropriate link and enter your personal information - last name, first name, email address.

To reset a forgotten key, you must perform one of the suggested actions.

  • Answer the security question asked during registration.
  • Authenticate using your email address. A link will be sent in the letter, after clicking on which the old key will be reset.
  • Use two-step verification (if enabled) with a verification code sent to a trusted device.

If you are the owner of the device, then these procedures should not cause difficulties. Attackers will have to try hard to hack someone else's smartphone.

The “Parental Controls” function (also called “Restrictions”) allows you to restrict access of Apple device users to certain programs or options on the device. It's very easy to turn it on. To do this, you need to go to “Settings”, go to “General”, then click on the “Restrictions” tab and specify the desired password before activation.

Why do you need the Restrictions feature?

Using this feature will allow you to prohibit the teenager or child who is the main user of the device from accessing resources that contain adult content, or allow access to certain sites and deny all others. In addition, it is possible to set restrictions on films, music, books, TV shows, and programs. Particularly popular in this regard is the Siri program, which recognizes obscene language. That is, you can ban everything that does not suit you.

But sometimes a problem arises when a person has forgotten the password on the iPad for the Restrictions feature. And then there are several options for the development of events.

What to do

If all your attempts to somehow remember your password have been unsuccessful, then you can recover it in several ways:

1. Through iTunes with the loss of all information on the device. After this procedure, you will have a “clean” device.

2. If you don’t want to lose the data that is in the gadget, then you can try to change the password yourself without jailbreaking.

3. Change the password manually on a jailbroken iPad, saving all data on the device.

And if how to recover a password on an iPad via iTunes is clear (connect the device to the PC, log into iTunes and click the “Recover” button), then other methods are not so simple. They will require detailed consideration.

Reset password without jailbreak

First, it's worth noting that to complete this task you will need some software (iBackupBot for iTunes) - a program for managing the backup of Apple devices. If you need to install this program by downloading it to your PC.

So, connect the device to the PC via USB and launch iTunes. Go to the “Edit” section, then “Settings” and “Devices”, after which we erase all the backup copies of your iPad so as not to get confused in them. Next, make a new backup in iTunes, select the required device in the sidebar, and click “Back up now.”

Next, switch to iBackupBot and go to System Files - HomeDomain - Library - Preferences. There we look for a file named com.apple.springboard.plist. To be on the safe side, you can save and copy the original file by right-clicking on it and selecting Export Selected Item.

Then those who have forgotten the password on the iPad need to click on this file. After this, a window will appear asking you to purchase the full version of the program, but we don’t need this. We reject and continue working. After refusing to purchase the full version and entering the registration code, we will see the contents of the file into which we need to insert the following lines:

< key >SBParentalControlsPIN< /key >
< string > 1234 < /string >

Paste and save. Four zeros in the last line are a new code for those who have forgotten the password for iPad restrictions. Then launch iTunes again and go to “Browse”. There we click on the value “Restore from a copy” and select the one we created earlier. Click “Restore”. If everything is done correctly, your password will be “1234”.

with jailbreak

For those who have forgotten the password on their iPad mini or iPad but don't want to spend a lot of time fiddling around, there is a faster way to recover it. This simple method saves owners of devices with jail. To do this, you will need the shareware iFile jailbreak application. It can be found in Cydia.

Here you won't need to fiddle with programs like iTunes and iBackupBot on your computer. If your iOS device is jailbroken, then you only need to launch the iFile application on the device and start working on recovering the restrictions password.

Go to the menu Var - Mobile - Library - Prefrences and look for the same file there - com.apple.springboard.plist. Click on it and select “Text Editor”. In the top panel on the left there is an “Edit” button; if you click on it, you can edit the code. Select the desired line and paste our code:

< key >SBParentalControlsPIN< /key >
< string > 1234 < /string >

So those who have forgotten the password on their iPad can see for themselves that resetting the treasured combination is not such a difficult thing. The main thing is to do everything exactly as stated in the user manual. Of course, if you need to save information or don't jailbreak, the process will take some time, but it's still not that bad.

Apple iPad tablet PCs are personal use devices. But some people are tempted to look into someone else’s tablet and see what’s there. Children have a similar habit, as a result of which the confidentiality and safety of information stored on the device is endangered. There is only one way out - set a security password. But it is easy to forget, which makes using the tablet impossible. How to unlock an iPad and what do you need for this?

Recovery from data loss

Protecting confidential and important data using a password is practiced by many people who want to protect information from being viewed by unauthorized persons. About 2 out of 10 people have ever had their tablet end up in the wrong hands, without asking. In some cases (thanks to the cunning of some people), important data disappears from tablets - when you ask the person involved a question about the disappearance of files, the answer is a shrug.

The result is that tablet owners protect information stored in memory with a password. The field for entering it appears after the device is brought out of standby mode - by entering the password, you can continue using the tablet. But what if the password was forgotten for some reason? There are several ways to reset your password, but not all of them work.

To remove the password on older Apple devices, we used the Find iPhone app, which also works on tablets. Thanks to this application, users had the opportunity to reset their password by remotely erasing data. The disadvantage of the technique was that it erased absolutely everything.– as a result, users received a completely empty tablet at their disposal. This won't work on new devices, so we'll look at another method.

Recovery without data loss

If the information is confidential, then it has a certain value. This means that to restore your iPad's functionality, you need to reset the security password without deleting the information. And there really are such methods - for this, restoring from a backup is used.

If you have forgotten your security password, do not try to remember it by brute force. Firstly, you are unlikely to remember the treasured numbers and letters. And secondly, after several unsuccessful attempts, the device will be blocked for some time.

How to unlock iPad if you forgot your password? To do this, you need to use the unlocking procedure using iTunes.. We launch the program, connect the tablet, and then wait for the synchronization to complete - it works even when the tablet is in standby mode. After saving the data, go to the device overview and click on the “Restore iPad” button - the device will be reset. After the reboot and initial setup, you will be able to upload data to your tablet again.

Do you regularly back up your device? Then you can use the “Restore from copy” function, and then select the most recent copy.

If this method did not work and you were unable to do anything with the device, do not despair and run to a service center. How to unlock iPad if it is locked? To do this, you can use the DFU mode. Before this, you need to synchronize your data by connecting your device to your computer and launching iTunes. The synchronized data must be stored not in the iCloud cloud service, but on a computer– check the appropriate box in the synchronization settings.

Once all data has been saved, enter the device into DFU mode by pressing the Home button and the On/Off button (the tablet must be connected to a computer running iTunes). After some time, the manufacturer’s logo will appear on the iPad display - at this point, release the on/off button and wait for iTunes to start the recovery procedure. Next you will have two solutions:

  • Restore iPad from backup;
  • Restore iPad as a new device.

Select the second item, bring the tablet into working condition, and then upload the synchronized data to it. If you again want to protect confidential or important information with a password, write it down on some secure media - we recommend writing it down on paper and putting the sheet in the tablet box or placing it in a safe (or any other safe place) .

Have you tried to restore your device to no avail? Then we recommend contacting a service center where experienced specialists will take care of the tablet.

If you enter the wrong password multiple times, your iPhone will be locked. Much the same way it happens on devices. Complete device locking and data deletion functions when entering an incorrect code can be set in iOS Settings. In some cases, an iPhone can be unlocked even without a password or Touch ID.

If the phone is blocked, a corresponding message appears on the device display. It happens that you simply forgot your password and your smartphone is locked. In this case, you need to use the recovery function or completely erase the device’s memory.

Please note that you can only restore data recorded on iPhone if you previously made a backup copy in iTunes or iCloud. Otherwise, you will have to completely erase all existing information from your phone.

There are three different options for performing this procedure. One of them involves using iTunes, the second - iCloud. We will begin our description of iPhone unlocking options with the most universal method.

Unlock passcode on iPhone in recovery mode (DFU).

This method of erasing information from iPhone allows you to unlock your smartphone in any situation - even if you have not previously synced it with iTunes or activated the Find My iPhone feature in iCloud. During the recovery process, all settings and data on the smartphone will be erased, incl. and lock password.

  1. We connect the iPhone to the computer. Open the iTunes program.
  2. We perform a forced restart of the device. To do this, turn on and continue to hold two buttons at the same time. The first of them is “Sleep/Wake Mode”, the second depends on the smartphone model. To restart iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, you need to press the Volume Down button. If you have an iPhone 6s or earlier models, press the Home button. Hold both buttons until the recovery mode appears on the display.
  3. When the display prompts you to perform an update or restore, select “Restore.” After this, the device recovery program starts and downloads the software to it. If the process cannot be completed within 15 minutes, the iPhone will exit this mode and steps 2 and 3 will have to be repeated.
  4. After the restoration is complete, you will need to set up your iPhone and you can use it.

Unlock and reset iPhone password in iTunes.

If your smartphone was previously synced with iTunes, you can restore it using the method described below.

  1. We connect the iPhone to the computer on which the synchronization was carried out.
  2. Open iTunes. If you are prompted for a password, you can try using another computer (or you will have to erase the memory in recovery mode, as described above).
  3. We are waiting for iTunes to synchronize and create a backup copy of the device.
  4. After creating a backup, select “Restore device” from the menu.
  5. During the recovery process, the setup screen will appear. Click “Restore from copy”.
  6. Select your device in iTunes. We check the creation dates of each backup copy, and also pay attention to their size. We select the most suitable copy and start restoring it.

Unlocking iPhone using iCloud.

This method can be used if Find My iPhone has been enabled on your iPhone.

  1. We go from another device or computer to the page icloud.com/find.
  2. When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID.
  3. At the top of the browser window, click on the “All devices” drop-down list.
  4. Select the iPhone you want to unlock.
  5. Click “Erase” to delete all data and password.
  6. After finishing, we restore the data from the backup or set up the iPhone again.

To unlock a smartphone using the latest method, it must be connected to a cellular network or Wi-Fi. Otherwise, data exchange will not be possible.

You can successfully unlock your iPhone using any of the following methods. When choosing, be guided by which one will be most convenient for you. If you saved a backup copy, then it is advisable to use iTunes; if not, then it is easier to erase the data in recovery mode.

If you cannot connect a locked iPhone to your computer, you can use the last method.

Happens to everyone. I came up with and set a password on my iPhone, and then forgot it. Or you haven’t used your smartphone for a long time. Be that as it may, it is better to know what to do and how to unlock your iPhone if you forgot the password.

In this instruction, I will describe three ways to reset and restore your iPhone if you forgot it. These methods will not help if, only contacting Apple support will help.

If the password is entered incorrectly 6 times, the iPhone will be blocked for one minute; if you enter the wrong password again, the iPhone will be blocked for 2 minutes, then 3, and so on. In general, it’s impossible to guess a password; life won’t last long.

If you have the “Erase data” function activated, then guessing the password is dangerous. This function will erase all information from the iPhone if you enter the password incorrectly 10 times. To disable it you need to: go to settings – password – opposite the “erase data” field, switch the toggle switch to disabled mode.

I know three ways to reset a forgotten password on an iPhone, here they are...

1. Reset your iPhone password by restoring it from a backup.

If you systematically sync your iPhone with iTunes, you should have backup copies and you can download one of the copies that does not yet have a password. This is the best way, all media files and information will remain on the smartphone.

2. Reset your password using Find My iPhone

If you have the Find My iPhone function activated, you can use iCloud to remove the lock password, however, all data will also be erased. This method works if you forgot your iPhone lock password, but remember your Apple iD password.

Now you can restore your iPhone from backup or set it up as new.

3. How to reset iPhone if you forgot your password

If you've never synced your iPhone with iTunes, don't have a backup, and don't have Find My iPhone enabled in iCloud, your only option for removing the passcode is the recovery mode method. I note that this method always works, but not only the password will be erased on the iPhone, but also all media files and information.

Step 1. To get started, you need to enter your iPhone into

To enter recovery mode: turn off the iPhone, now hold down the Home button and without releasing it, insert the USB cable, an iTunes icon with a cord should appear.

Step 2: If iTunes doesn't open automatically, open it. You should immediately be prompted to update or restore your iPhone.

Step 3. Select “Restore” and wait for the recovery to complete. At the end of the process, the iPhone will be “clean” as if it came from a store and without passwords. Use it!
