Windows 10 standard applications do not work
Any operating system from Microsoft has a base of pre-installed applications that should help computer users get started without installing additional programs. Not all standard Windows 10 applications are necessary, but there are a number of useful ones among them.
One of the common problems with this version of the operating system is problems with standard applications. The system refuses to launch them and this applies, first of all, to programs that are displayed as tiles in the Start menu. If, after the next boot of the computer, the tiles in Windows 10 do not work, the best option is to restore the operating system using previously prepared restore points. In cases where Windows 10 applications do not work and were not created in advance, you can try one of the options described below to resolve the problem.
Removing the cache in the Windows Store
The easiest way to make Windows 10 apps work is to clear temporary files that are stored in the Windows Store. This can be done through the “Run” line. In order to reset the cache of the “native” Microsoft store, press Windows + R, and in the window that appears, enter the command wsreset.exe, and then press Enter. 
It will take some time for the computer to clear the Windows Store cache, after which it, and at the same time the rest of the Windows 10 applications, should start working. If the method does not help fix the problem, we recommend that you restart your computer and move on to the next method.
The most effective, and at the same time difficult, way to fix the problem in which applications do not work is to re-register them. To re-register and install Windows 10 programs, follow these steps:
- Launch the PowerShell console as an administrator. You can do this by finding the corresponding application through search or directly from the shortcut at:
Find the PowerShell.exe file in this folder and run it as an administrator to be able to make adjustments to system files.
- Next, in the PowerShell console window that opens, you need to write (it’s better to copy from the website to avoid errors) the command:
Please note that this command may take several minutes to complete. During the process, various information about its progress will appear in the console, and red errors may appear in the console; you should not pay attention to them. 
- When the application re-registration process is complete, restart your computer.
Attention: This method does not always work correctly. In some cases, it can lead to new problems, for example, or tiles becoming “empty”. We recommend that before making such changes to the system, create a restore point in it in order to return to the original state if the result is unsuccessful.
If the system files of a computer on Windows 10 have been deleted (it is possible that due to viruses), then it makes sense to analyze the system to identify errors. This is done using the command line, which is necessary. Enter a command into it that checks the integrity of system files:
Sfc /scannow
In cases where no problems were found as a result of the scan, it is recommended to run another command aimed at restoring the Windows 10 system image:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This method of the three given in this article is the least effective. At the same time, it can restore the functionality of applications if the problem appeared after cleaning the computer from viruses.
What other actions to take if Windows 10 applications do not work
If the three methods above did not help solve the problem, you can follow some basic recommendations, which in some cases help get rid of common system failures:
For any malfunction of Windows 10, the most effective way to solve the problem is to reset the system using a bootable USB flash drive. If you plan to do this, be sure to back up your important files on your computer.
As with other universal apps offered with Windows 10, the Photos app may not open the first time. Since the Photos app is the default image viewer in Windows 10 and the classic Photo Viewer for Windows is turned off by default, many users have difficulty opening image files in Windows 10.

Method 1 of 4.

This utility from Microsoft can automatically find and fix some problems with Universal apps. The troubleshooter is available in different languages and works on any operating system language.
If you're having problems with the Windows Store Photos app, use Microsoft's troubleshooter
- Open " Windows Settings" by pressing the Win + I key combination or click on the menu “ Start" to the gear icon.
- Go to the following path " Update and Security" → "Troubleshooting".

After the reset, the Photos app should work and not cause you any trouble.

Re-registration Photos apps using Windows PowerShell
If the methods above didn't help you solve the problem, re-registering your photography app is probably the best way to fix the errors. The method works offline and does not require an Internet connection.
To re-register the application:.
- Open your console .
- Run the command:
- In the list of applications that opens, find the package Microsoft. Windows. Photos, copy the contents of the parameter “ PackageFullName".

In my case the following command turned out:
Add-AppxPackage -register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_2018.18091.16610.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml" –DisableDevelopmentMode
Using these actions, we re-registered Windows. Photos on the system in an attempt to fix the application Photos .
Method 4 of 4.
To reinstall the Photos app, you must uninstall the app and then install it again from the Store.
- Run PowerShell as Administrator (otherwise the command will fail).

Sometimes applications will not launch if they are not updated to the latest version. To fix this, you need to do the following:

Now you need to set administrator rights through the properties of this account. To do this, open the "Group Membership" tab and select "Administrator".
Disabling the built-in administrator
If you still cannot open the application on Windows 10, then you need to completely disable the built-in “account”. To do this, open the parameters again through the “Run” window with the same command and click “Advanced”.
A window appears with a list of users. Select the administrator account and go to “Properties” through the context menu. In the "General" tab, check the "Disable account" option.
Setting the control level
Another possible reason why you can't open a Windows 10 app is that your profile control level settings are incorrect. To change them we need the "Control Panel". In it, go to the “User Accounts” section and select the button to change settings.
In the window that opens, you will see a slider that is responsible for access levels. You need to move the UAC slider up 2 notches if it is in the lowest position. After this, all actions will request permissions, but you will be able to launch the Windows 10 standard software store.
Other methods
If the above methods do not help, then you need to reset the settings of the individual application. This is relevant if you are unable to open the Windows 10 application - Personalization, Settings, Microsoft Store and similar standard services.
Many Windows 10 users are faced with the fact that tiled applications do not launch, do not work, or open and close immediately. At the same time, the problem begins to appear on its own, for no apparent reason. This is often accompanied by the search and start button stopping working.
