The social network VKontakte is one of the most popular in the countries of the former USSR. There are two ways to install the VKontakte application on an Apple smartphone. The first of them involves the use of iTunes software installed on a personal computer. For the second option, you only need an iPhone.

To install an application via iTunes, you must first download and install it on your PC. After this, you will need to synchronize your phone with your personal computer and follow the manager’s instructions.

To install VKontakte directly from your iPhone, you just need to select the App Store icon on the smartphone screen. It is located in the main menu and is not difficult to find.

Once you've entered the store, you can use search or view a list of recommended apps. Then you should select VKontakte and install it through the App Store on your iPhone. The program for iPhone will take up a small amount of space in the internal memory of the device, despite the impressive list of functions and capabilities. The size of the latest current version of VKontakte for iOS is about 15 MB. The application installs quickly, after launch you can choose one of the four main languages ​​of the program: Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese or English.

It would be useful to emphasize that only persons over 17 years of age can download and install the VK application through the App Store. Apple imposed such restrictions precisely because of pre-existing claims against VKontakte regarding some of the content of the social network. In today's article we will talk about various applications from the social network and iPad. I will look at two applications that allow you to interact with VK from your iPhone or iPad. Both considered applications serve different purposes and solve certain problems.

You are most likely aware that at one time the AppStore administration removed applications from the VKontakte social network. It is difficult to name the reason. But apparently, two large companies had a disagreement, which resulted in the application being removed from the AppStore. After some time, the application was returned, then deleted again. In general, this saga with deleting/restoring the application for iPhone and iPad lasted for a very long time.



Now, it seems, everything has “settled down” and a good application has become available to ordinary users. As I said earlier, in this short article I will analyze two applications. All applications reviewed are free, links will also be available in the description.

The official application from the VKontakte social network for your iPhone and iPad. Download until it is deleted again, which, as I said above, happens with enviable regularity.   • Convenient navigation through features. With this application it is much more convenient to “sit” on the VKontakte social network from your mobile iOS device - iPhone and iPad. All the necessary functions are right at hand, no need to make any unnecessary movements.
  • Convenient communication. Through this application it is very convenient to communicate with friends and acquaintances on the VKontakte social network.

At the moment, a “life hack” is working - you can install the old version 2.15.3 from the Purchases section in the App Store. First, uninstall the VK 3.0 application, then open the App Store application, go to the Updates section, at the top there will be a Purchases section - in it, find the VK App application from the list, install it. At the time of writing, this method helps to return the old version of VKontakte to the iPhone. Most likely, with the release of the next VK update, this method will stop working.

If the first method does not suit you, use advanced user skills. This method works - we checked it. And it won't take much of your time.

    1. First, you need to download and then install the Charles program. Next Run it and click on the Grant Priveleges tab if you are using OS X, then enter the administrator password.
    2. Download the application, the old version of which you want to install, using iTunes on your computer, and then go to the Structure tab in the Charles application. You will see the "buy" server.
    3. Right-click on “buy” and select Enable SSL Proxying.
    4. Now stop downloading in iTunes.
    5. Find the application again by opening the description page. We start the download, then cancel it again.
    6. Next, open the “buy” server pop-up menu and select buyProduct.
    7. Click on Response, right-click on buyProduct and select Export. Select the Desktop as the export location, select the XML format and click Save.

      These are the versions of the application from older to newer. Now you need to copy the version number you want to download, then close the text editor.
    9. Now we return to Charles and right-click on buyProduct, select Edit.
    10. Select Text and find the following line: appExtVrsId
      Below it you will notice a number in the tag, replace it with the number you copied and click Execute.
    11. Scroll down to Response, then you will notice bundleShortVersionString. Below it you will see the version of the application you selected.
    12. Right-click on buyProduct in the list under the “buy” server and select Breakpoints.
    13. Find the application again in iTunes so that the program refreshes the page, and now click on the download button again.
    14. Return to Charles and you will see a pop-up window. Click Edit Request, then XML Text and below the line appExtVrsId paste the number copied in the eighth paragraph. Click Execute again.
    15. Now you will need to carefully press Execute.
    16. Check iTunes. The download should start and complete.
    17. Open the My Apps tab in iTunes and you should see the app you downloaded. By right-clicking on it you can request additional information and make sure that you downloaded the old version.
    18. Connect your mobile device to iTunes and install the application on your device.
    19. Close and remove Charles. Ready!
