Tunngle does not connect to adapter. Tunngle won't start. Why? Update related device drivers

If anyone is not already aware, the Tunngle application is a unique cross-platform program that allows you to play various games online using an Internet connection. Despite the apparent ease of installation of this software product, quite often problems arise due to the fact that Tunngle refuses to start. Let's see why this can happen and how you can deal with it.

Tunngle won't start: possible reasons

When it comes to possible failures when installing and using this software package, such as errors related to access rights, or the inability to detect a virtual network adapter, there can be quite a few reasons for the occurrence. Many experts associate the situation when the Tunngle adapter or the application itself refuses to start with a clumsy hacked Windows OS, incorrect installation of the software package itself, antivirus program or firewall restrictions, incorrect router or adapter settings, as well as problematic device drivers that are necessary for operation with this program. There are plenty of reasons. Let's look at each of them in more detail.

Correct installation

It is best to start with the installation process of this software package. Everything here at first glance is quite simple. But there are still some features that should be taken into account. So, let’s immediately make a reservation that it is advisable to install only the latest version of the application, and you need to choose it depending on the system you use. As a rule, these are builds 5.6 and higher. You must also first register on the official website on the Internet using a verifiable login and password. They will also be useful to you during the installation process. After running the installer file, you must agree with all system warnings and also accept the terms of the license agreement. The procedure is, in principle, standard. It is worth considering that when the process is completed, it is necessary to reboot the system. Otherwise, activation of the application will not be possible. The installer will automatically prompt you to reboot. In some cases, even correct and correct installation cannot guarantee the absence of failures when the application is first launched. The reason for this is the lack of correct configuration of some network components.

Setting up the Tunngle adapter

Let's say Tunngle doesn't run on your computer. What could be the reason? The problem, as a rule, is the incorrect configuration of the installed virtual adapter. To correct this situation, you need to proceed in the standard way. First you need to use the standard “Control Panel”. Here we will be interested in the network and sharing management section. You need to change the Tunngle network adapter settings. To call an additional menu, you must right-click the mouse. Here you need to select the advanced options tab. Please note that there must be a checkmark next to the line that indicates an automatic metric. It is also necessary to set it to the highest position.

Configuring router ports

Another common problem that may prevent Tunngle from launching is using an already occupied port on the router. You can see this in the adapter settings or in the application itself.

Setting up exceptions

The installed port must also be added to the exclusion list of your antivirus program and firewall. Access blocking occurs quite often at this level. In other words, a connection through this port when using a virtual adapter can be regarded as an unreliable connection with an attempt at external access.

How to create a game server?

If this does not help, and Tunngle cannot be launched in any of the described options, you should pay attention to some application settings. Even if errors appear, nothing bad will happen. First, you need to create a game server in the program interface. Then you need to exit the application and log in again, reboot the system and check how the program will behave in this case.

Tunngle: problem with updates

In some cases, problems may be related to updates to the software package itself. As mentioned above, it is recommended to install program version 5.6 and higher. This version is the most normal in operation. You can also try using the application interface menu and then checking for available updates.

Problem with updating drivers

The most global ones include problems associated with outdated drivers. In this case, we are talking about drivers not only for the network adapter or graphics video accelerator. The saddest thing is that the Windows operating system simply does not provide a function for automatically searching and updating drivers. It is not possible to determine which driver needs to be updated. In this case, you can try using third-party programs, such as the Driver Booster utility. In this case, it is also advisable to use the latest version of the utility. After starting, the program will begin the scanning process and determine which devices need driver updates. It is worth noting that it is better to update all drivers without exception, since the Tunngle program during its operation accesses not only video, audio and network devices.

Correcting system errors

Another problem where Tunngle won't start at all may be due to system errors in the Windows operating system itself. Of course, no one wants to correct them manually, especially since inexperienced users are not recommended to go into the registry on their own and change some keys or delete entries. At best, you can try using special utilities like CCleaner, Advanced System Care and others. However, it will be preferable to use the portable version rather than the standard one. This is due to the fact that some cleaning programs by default may use the built-in connection optimization module or enable acceleration. Also, the use of such software products quite often provokes communication failures.

Conclusion

Based on all that has been said, we can conclude that in order to work normally with the Tunngle program, the user must pay attention to several mandatory conditions:

— use of the latest software version;
— correct installation with mandatory registration;
— correct router and adapter settings;
— availability of updated versions of device drivers;
— use of an exception list in blocking programs.

Otherwise, there should not be any particular difficulties with setting up and installing the program. As a last resort, it would be a good idea to make sure that the computer configuration meets the stated system requirements. You can also try completely uninstalling the application and then reinstalling it. The only point you should pay attention to when uninstalling is to use not the standard Windows uninstaller, but more powerful tools like iObit Uninstaller. This software package is capable of cleaning system registry keys and residual files.

In some cases, you may need to update the Windows operating system itself. The functionality of this application is not affected by security update packages. As for working with a normally functioning program, this issue deserves special attention. It will not be difficult for the user to understand the available games and game rooms. In addition, it is worth considering that this software package supports a huge number of game servers around the globe. They are available in any region, regardless of the geographic location of the user who installed and uses this software package.

I want to say right away that my friends and I have not encountered this problem when installing games through Tunngle, but still, if you have these problems, then carefully read these instructions, which were found on the Internet.

A very important point when playing through Tunngle. A closed port means potential problems with communication, in particular with establishing a connection (You simply may not see from 2-3 to a dozen people in the room)

1. Is it necessary?
Indeed, let's first figure it out - do we need to configure anything, or does everything work on its own?

Launch Tunngle, go to System > Options
In the “Router” section, find the “Test” button
Now, if when you press this magic button, Tungle swears something like “selected port does not apear to be opened”, then it needs to be opened. If you are told “selected port is opened and accepting connections”, then you can safely skip the following points.

2. Setting up the router
To begin with, I’ll note that you can set almost any port in the tungle settings, but there are two caveats: the value must be greater than 1000 (since tungle blocks all ports from 1 to 1000 so that all sorts of smart people don’t get into your system) and if If you plan to use Tungle on two or more computers on the same local network, then for each computer you need to select and configure its own port.

The easiest way to open a port on your router (or ADSL modem) is to find out the manufacturer and model and do everything according to the guide.

If you have the wrong firmware/configured by a neighbor/something of your own (underline as necessary), I will try to clearly explain what and where to poke.

First, you need to find out the IP of the router modem and the IP of your computer. This is done simply: in network connections, right-click on “local network connection”, “status”, “details” button. Your IP Address is the “IP Address” item (IPv4 in Vista 7). Here even a fool can understand that the IP address of the router modem is the address of the gateway (the default gateway or something else in the same spirit). Usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

Now we can go to the web interface of the router modem and configure this miracle as we please. Open your browser and simply write the IP address of the router modem in the address bar. (for example, like this – http://192.168.0.1/)
A window may pop up asking for your login and password. If you don’t know it (how so? Your device is... O_o), then try the default ones, for example admin admin, or just admin without a password (but it’s still worth reading the documentation for this shaitan box, such moments are covered there)

Then the fun begins. Here I will describe only general cases, because... There are too many details, and it’s impossible to write about everything at once. (a huge variety of router modems are reviewed on portforwarding.com)

Typically, port forwarding is hidden in sections like Virtual Server or the wilds of NAT configuration
We are interested in redirecting traffic from your external IP address (i.e. what goes from the Internet to the router modem) to your internal IP address (from the router modem to your computer), the port here is the same (the one you specified in tungle settings)
On some models, the external IP address is omitted and does not need to be specified, which is quite logical.
Next, you need to specify the IP address to which the redirect will go, ports (external and internal), and protocol type - UDP. As you can guess, you should write the IP address of your computer and the ports that are in the tungle settings.
Also, on some models you can set a work schedule by hour or day based on another created rule. It’s better to put “Always”, and don’t forget to enable it (check the box somewhere, if possible) and confirm the changes made.

3. Setting up a firewall
Here I will not chew on what and how. If you were smart enough to install and configure it, it would be enough to allow Tungle network activity.

I will only note that you should add Tungl to the exceptions of the Windows firewall and cunning antiviruses (such as Kaspersky and Nod32).
You need to add two files – Tunngle.exe and TnglCtrl.exe (they can be found in the folder C:\Program Files\Tunngle)
Well, add the Tunngle network to the trusted/allowed ones, or whatever it’s correctly called...

P.S. If you don’t have a router or an ADSL modem, and the tungla complains about NAT settings, most likely you don’t have your own external IP. Most providers provide this service (for a small additional fee), so to play normally you will need to order it.

The Tunngle application is quite an interesting and powerful tool created to unite Internet users of the World Wide Web who prefer online computer games with real opponents, similar to how championships are held. However, quite often after installing this software package, the program begins to display a message stating that Tunngle cannot be initialized. Why this happens, what is the reason for such failures, how to deal with all this, will now be considered.

What is Tunngle?

It’s worth noting right away that the Tunngle software package itself is quite specific. The fact is that even standard installation and official registration do not guarantee normal operation of the application.

And it was created so that users of the World Wide Web could access online games of any genre using their own Internet connection. Naturally, none of the avid gamers will deny themselves the pleasure of playing with a real opponent. And this program allows you to do all this in just a couple of clicks (but only with the correct settings). But sometimes the problem is that the system simply “spits” and reports that it was unable to initialize the Tunngle network adapter.

What is it, and why does the system not recognize it or does not want to accept the default settings? Let's look at this problem from the point of view of the most common situations.

How does the installer work?

Firstly, on systems like Windows 7 and higher, you need to run the installation file exclusively as an administrator. Otherwise (even if the system request is confirmed), the functionality of the application is very difficult to guarantee. The problem may lie precisely in incorrect installation.

Secondly, you should not pay attention to the registration that the standard installer offers during the installation process. It is better to initially register on the official resource and confirm your login and password. This is followed by the standard process of installing and copying files, after which the installer will prompt you to reboot the system (without this, activation of the application is impossible).

Let’s make a reservation right away: the error when it was not possible to initialize the Tunngle network adapter (4-109) is most often associated with separate registration at the first stage. If this has been done, you should either skip this step or enter the correct access data. Unfortunately, problems arise if you enter user data during the installation process. So it is better to enter the necessary data with confirmation initially, using the official resource.

Why does the application create a virtual adapter?

Now let's look at the problem where the Tunngle network adapter (4-109) cannot be initialized. What to do in this case? Yes, just pay attention to its settings. The fact is that by default the system, as such, simply does not perceive it. It is not surprising, because it represents the host through which the connection is made.

This may be reminiscent of the principle of music VST plugins in the form of dynamic libraries and virtual drivers such as ASIO4ALL, which virtually work in the same way. In other words, during the installation process the program creates a network access device, ignoring the “hardware” communicator. In principle, it is even placed on top of it. In the access settings, you can only assign priority to it, making sure to enable virtualization in the BIOS.

"Unable to initialize Tunngle network adapter" error: Possible problems

Typical errors are considered to be: incorrect installation, lack of updating the system and device drivers, incorrect settings of network and router parameters without port forwarding, blocking by the “native” and so unloved Windows firewall, and even worse, an anti-virus scanner. You never know.

The easiest way to fix the problem

At this stage, we will proceed to a practical solution to the problem when an error or failure occurs due to the fact that the system was unable to initialize the Tunngle network adapter (4-109 - error code). After completing the installation process and integrating the application into the system, it is quite simple to restart your computer or laptop. But, however, in the automatic mode of subsequent activation and configuration, performance is not guaranteed. And that's why.

Correct installation

Installation is not all that needs to be taken into account. Registration also plays a significant role. The problem here is that the server itself does not accept inherently hackable passwords like “123456789.” This approach is primarily associated with the 256-bit encryption system used.

Therefore, when registering, be careful - you will have to enter letters, numbers, and intermediate symbols, which will ensure the reliability and safety of the created account.

Ports

The saddest thing is that after installation the program does not set the parameters of the same IPv4 protocol in its own way. The system, in principle, does not allow the program to register its parameters in the Internet connection settings. You can, of course, try to register a port like 6000, although you shouldn’t count on it.

It is better to look at the application interface, where in the top panel you can find a default port that is not used by the system. If the port is enabled, the address will be indicated in red. However, you can change its parameter, whether in the program, or in the settings, or in the data of the router or any other router, quite simply.

Exceptions

Another point related to the fact that the system was unable to initialize the Tunngle Windows XP network adapter. For example, this may concern a stricter system for filtering incoming data by an antivirus or the standard firewall of Windows itself.

This dual approach to security seems extremely far-fetched. However, if the system reports that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized, at the “post-installation” stage you can add the application itself and the ports used to access the main game servers to the so-called exception list. In other words, the firewall will ignore this connection.

It is especially worth paying attention to software packages such as those that involve cleaning and protecting the system from Malware, Adware or Spyware threats.

Error 4-109 (“Tunngle network adapter failed to initialize”): What to do first?

Taking all of the above as an example, you should immediately pay attention to the removal of all kinds of optimizer programs that seem to clean the system and speed up the connection, but in fact they only slow down, loading their own modules into RAM and mercilessly using disk space resources in the form virtual memory (page file).

Next, you should uninstall the old version of Tunngle, if one was installed, then download the latest update, but not lower than version 5.6, install the application again, following the recommendations indicated above.

What does the TCP/IP protocol have to do with it?

But that's not all. The main problem when the system fails to initialize the Tunngle network adapter is that the basic parameters were incorrectly set in the IPv4 or v6 protocol settings, if such technology is supported by the provider. Moreover, this concerns not internal and external IP addresses, but DNS servers.

In the virtual adapter settings, you must check the box next to the automatic metric field. And the saddest thing is that almost no one knows these parameters.

But, as it turns out, everything is simple. If the user suddenly sees a message or system notification that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized, there is no need to be upset.

It is possible that the system itself, its updates, or the device drivers installed on it do not meet the program's requirements. It is enough to install the latest updates for the system (as a rule, these are KB series packages for the security system), as well as use non-standard means of updating device drivers.

For these purposes, it is better to use specialized programs like the latest version of Driver Booster. The update will be performed completely automatically, and for all devices simultaneously (and this is important, since the application itself addresses not only video or audio equipment or tries to access the use of software codecs and decoders).

What else should you pay attention to?

Note that sometimes the problem when the system failed to initialize the Tunngle network adapter may not even be related to it, because it is, in fact, a virtual device, not a hardware device.

Here you should use built-in or non-standard diagnostic tools that can identify virtual devices running in the system, similar to how VST standard music plug-ins are scanned.

Now there is no point in dwelling on them in detail. But if the system still writes that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized, it is worth looking at the configuration of the gaming PC (you never know, the processor is not the same, there is not enough memory) or setting some inflated parameters to help overclock the same processor in the BIOS, or doing this manually. But! Without special knowledge on this matter, you can only do this out of your own conviction, since even the most knowledgeable experts do not guarantee that the system will then be able to operate normally (or whether it will be able to do so at all).

If anyone doesn’t know, the Tunngle application is a unique cross-platform program that allows you to play all kinds of games using an Internet connection online. However, despite the apparent ease of installation, quite often the problem arises that Tunngle does not start. Why this happens and how to deal with it will now be discussed.

Why Tunngle won't start: possible problems

As for possible failures when installing and using this software package, there can be many reasons for the occurrence of numerous failures, such as the inability to detect a virtual network adapter or errors related to access rights.

Most experts associate the situation and such failures when the Tunngle adapter or the application itself does not start with “clumsy” hacked Windows (in particular, “Seven”), incorrect installation of the game package, system firewall or antivirus restrictions, incorrect data in the adapter and router settings , finally - with problematic device drivers necessary for the program to work. In general, there are enough reasons. Let's look at each of them in more detail.

What to do if Tunngle doesn't start? Correct installation

Let's start with the installation of the software product itself. Everything here seems to be simple, but some nuances are still worth taking into account.

Let’s make a reservation right away so that a problem does not arise when Tunngle does not start on Windows 7, for example, you should pay attention to the fact that it is advisable to install the latest version of the application, and specifically for the installed system. And these are builds of Tunngle 5.6 and higher.

In addition, you must first register on the official resource on the Internet using a verifiable login and password (they will come in handy during operation), although you can register during the installation process.

After running the installer file, we agree with all warnings and accept and agree with the installation of the equipment. In general, standard procedure. It is important to know that upon completion of the process, you must reboot the system, otherwise activating the application will not be possible (the installer itself will prompt you to reboot).

But seemingly correct installation in some cases does not guarantee that a failure when Tunngle does not start will not appear even when the application is launched for the first time. The reason for this is the lack of correct configuration of some network components.

Tunngle adapter settings

So, Tunngle does not start on the computer (nothing happens). What does this mean? As a rule, this indicates incorrect configuration of a newly installed virtual adapter. To correct the situation, we proceed in the standard way.

To begin with, we use the standard “Control Panel”, and in it - the section of the Network and Sharing Center. Here you need to change the Tunngle settings a little. Right-clicking opens an additional menu where you select the additional parameters tab. Please note: there must be a “bird” opposite the line indicating the automatic metric. In addition, you need to set it to the highest position (use priority).

Setting up router ports

An equally common problem, when Tunngle does not start without an error, may be the use of an already occupied port on the router (you can see it in the application itself or in the adapter settings, and then enter the same value in the router settings).

Setting up exceptions

In addition, the installed port should be added to the so-called firewall and antivirus exclusion list.

Quite often access is blocked at this level. In other words, the connection through this port using a virtual adapter is regarded as unreliable with a possible attempt at external access.

Creating a game server

If this helps either partially or does not help at all, and Tunngle does not start in any of the options described above, pay attention to the application settings.

Even if there is an error, it's okay. In the program interface, first you need to create a game server, exit the application, then reboot the system again and see how the program will behave in this case.

Problems with program updates

Sometimes the situation may be related to updates to the software package itself. As mentioned above, version 5.6 and higher should be installed on the system, since it is the one that is the most “normal” in operation.

As a last resort, you can use the application interface menu and then select to check the new version and update to it.

Problems updating drivers

But problems with outdated drivers, and not only the main network adapter or graphics video accelerator, can be attributed to the most, so to speak, global ones. The saddest thing is that in Windows OS the function of automatically searching and updating device drivers is simply not provided, and it is not possible to determine that any driver needs to install updates.

In this case, it is better to use third-party programs, for example, the Driver Booster utility, but, again, preferably the latest version. Once the program starts, it will begin the scanning process and identify absolutely all devices that need driver updates.

It is worth noting here that it is better, of course, to update drivers for all equipment without exception, since the Tunngle program during its operation accesses not only video, audio or network devices installed in the system, but also some others.

Correcting system errors

Another problem, when Tunngle does not start at all, may be the banal presence of system errors in Windows itself. It goes without saying that correcting them manually is a thankless task, especially since inexperienced users are highly discouraged from going into the registry and changing some keys or deleting entries.

Ideally, you can use powerful utilities such as CCleaner, Advanced System Care and many others. True, it is better not to install the standard one, but to use the portable version. This is only due to the fact that some “cleaners” by default can use their own built-in Internet connection optimization module or turn on turbo acceleration, which can also quite often provoke communication problems.

Instead of a total

Thus, based on all of the above, the user must pay attention to several mandatory conditions in order to work normally with the program:

  • using the latest version of the program;
  • correct installation with mandatory registration;
  • correct adapter and router settings;
  • availability of the latest updated versions of device drivers (even virtual ones);
  • using a list of exceptions in blocking programs for the installed software package and specified ports.

Otherwise, I think there will be no difficulties with installing and configuring the application. As a last resort, if nothing helps at all, you first need to make sure that the computer configuration meets the stated system requirements or remove the application entirely and then install it again.

The only thing you should pay attention to when uninstalling is the use not of a standard Windows uninstaller, but of more powerful tools like iObit Uninstaller, which is capable of cleaning both residual files and system registry keys.

It is possible that in some cases a Windows update may be required, but, as practice shows, only at the level of system components. Security update packages do not have much impact on the performance of this application (the program and ports through which connections to game servers are made are still included in the firewall exception list).

Well, as for working with a normally functioning program, this is a separate issue. However, it won’t be difficult to understand the interface, available games or game rooms, especially since the software package itself supports a huge number of game servers around the world, which are available in any region, regardless of the geolocation of the user who installed and uses this package.

The Tunngle client and the virtual adapter installed with it were once created so that fans of online team games located in different parts of the world could play together using a network created based on an Internet connection. However, as it turns out, not everything is so simple. During installation or when trying to launch and use the client program, the system often reports that it was unable to initialize the Tunngle network adapter. Why this happens and how to fix the problem, read on. But to fully understand the essence of the issue, let’s first dwell on the possible reasons for the occurrence of such situations.

Error: "Unable to initialize Tunngle network adapter": What does it mean?

Let's start with the fact that to use this tool, you must create a VPN virtual network. In addition, a client program and a special adapter must be installed on the computer, through which communication between players is carried out and access to game servers is provided.

Accordingly, the network card installed on the computer relates to such a connection only indirectly. The main role is played by the adapter that is installed - a kind of the same network card, but only virtual. More precisely, this is a kind of host through which access to the Internet is provided. And if, when using it, the system reports that it was unable to initialize the Tunngle network adapter, this only means that there are problems with it. Which ones exactly can be found out solely by the error code, which will be discussed separately. As it turns out, there is only one typical failure, but there are quite a lot of reasons why it occurs. Ultimately, the solution used to eliminate the problem will depend on their clarification in each specific case.

Tunngle network adapter failed to initialize: reasons

As for the reasons for this phenomenon, there can be quite a lot of them. One of the most common is separate registration, which is necessary to gain access. The fact is that it is best to register on the official resource initially, and only then install the client application and enter registration data, although it seems to be assumed that you can create an account during the installation process. It is not known for certain why this happens, but the facts of the error speak for themselves (these are far from isolated cases).

But that's not all there is to it. For example, a crash with the message that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized (0 is an error code indicating that the game server is not visible on the system) appears if the installed virtual component has a lower priority for access to the Internet, compared, for example, with Ethernet. There are many more types of failures, but we will not dwell on them, but will try to provide general solutions to correct the current situation. For the most part, the proposed methods correct the situation, unless the occurrence of errors is associated with disruptions in the operation of the operating system itself or due to viral influence.

Questions regarding the correct installation of the client and adapter

Errors related to the fact that at some point it is impossible to initialize the Tunngle network adapter can appear at the installation stage of both the client and the adapter.

It seems that the installer starts without problems, the installation proceeds as normal and is nearing completion. But at the last stage it suddenly reports that the Tunngle installation failed. Why is that? Yes, only because in all versions of Windows OS, starting from the seventh, you must run the installer exclusively as an administrator, even though the start is possible without this.

First launch and unlocking

Upon completion of the installation, the computer system is completely rebooted, after which the first start is expected. In theory, the program should configure itself for the optimal operating mode, deploy a virtual network and select a network adapter (in our case, Tunngle) that will be used by default.

But why then does a message appear stating that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized (code 19)? Many experts cite unfinished installation as the main reason. In other words, the components required for the program and adapter to operate were not fully installed. In such a situation, you need to completely remove everything that was installed and install again as an administrator. For complete removal, it is better not to use Windows tools, but to turn to uninstaller programs like iObit Uninstaller.

On the other hand, it may very well be that the appearance of notifications that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized is only due to the fact that the application and, as a result, its accompanying components are blocked by an antivirus or firewall.

There is only one way out: disable the antivirus and try to launch the client again.

Firewall setup

The Windows firewall is worth a separate discussion. In principle, you can turn it off completely so that you don’t have to answer its requests for a safe start every time.

If for some reason you need to keep it active, you will need to add the client application to the list of exceptions, using the appropriate section to add the desired program to the list of allowed ones.

Sometimes a notification that the system was unable to initialize the Tunngle network adapter may also appear due to the port being used being blocked (you can find this out directly in the program settings). This port must also be added to the exception list by creating a new port rule.

Restarting the adapter

One of the simplest and most trivial solutions to the problem is to disable and restart the adapter itself.

To do this, in the network properties, find the connection used by the adapter, select disable using RMB, and then enable it again in the same way. You can use a reboot between turning it off and on.

At the same time, check the IPv4 protocol parameters to automatically obtain addresses of all types and the installed virtual adapter. In the settings, there must be a checkmark next to the line for using automatic metrics.

Account Control Issues

Another technique to get rid of the annoying message that the Tunngle network adapter could not be initialized is to lower the level of control over user logins, because the system sets strict restrictions on the use of some hardware or software.

In order not to go through the settings for a long time, enter the abbreviation UAC in the search field of the Start menu. In the window that appears on the left there is a special fader that sets the control level, which should be moved to the lowest position. If this was the problem, it is quite possible that it will go away.

Installing an old device

Now let's see how to initialize the Tunngle network adapter using non-trivial methods. To do this, we need the “Device Manager”, which can be called from the “Control Panel” or accessed through the “Run” console by entering the command devmgmt.msc.

Here you need to use the action section on the panel at the top and select the installation of the old device.

After this, in the “Wizard” that opens, select the installation from the list manually, then indicate the line of network adapters, and select the TAP-Win32 Provider V9 Adapter (Tunngle) device from the list, if it is there. If it is missing, you must use installation from disk, and then specify the driver located along the path Program Files - Tunngle - Drivers on the system disk, in accordance with the architecture of the installed operating system.

Adapter boot priority

But even after the above steps, the system may again report that it was unable to initialize the Tunngle network adapter. What to do in this case? You need to change the device priority to a higher one.

To do this, you need to enter network connections, press the Alt key to bring up the top panel, and then select additional options from the “Advanced” section. Now on the adapters and bindings tab in the connections field, you need to move the installed adapter to the top position using the up/down arrows. After this, you will need to save the changes, restart the computer system and restart the client.

Update related device drivers

Finally, the problem may also be that for some devices that will be used when establishing a connection or playing the game itself, the drivers are outdated.

In order not to search for which devices require the installation of updated drivers, it is better to immediately install automated programs like Driver Booster and update them with their help. The advantage of such applications is that they update the control software for absolutely all devices in the system (both hardware and virtual), and download drivers directly from the resources of hardware manufacturers or developers of the corresponding software.

As you can see, the description and solution to most Tunngle errors is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance. As for additional recommendations to eliminate the main problem, it is quite difficult to advise anything specific. But separately, we can say that the possibility of viral exposure cannot be ruled out. If an error occurs due to a malfunction of some system services, this is most likely due to viruses. Not a fact, of course, but just in case, try scanning the system for viruses with portable programs, you never know what might happen.

To summarize briefly, we can only note that it is advisable to register before installing the client and adapter. It is better to disable the firewall completely (it still has no benefit, but only complete blocking of applications and ports). It is believed that the best solution to this problem is to install an old device into the system. This is especially true for the capricious Windows tenth and eighth modifications. It goes without saying that setting the highest priority for the adapter itself also plays an important role, otherwise the built-in system services and some third-party devices strive to “pull the blanket over themselves.”
