Reset application settings. We use the recovery menu. Hard reset methods and procedures may vary

Often, to solve software problems with the functioning of modern smartphones or tablets, you should perform a Hard Reset (hard reboot) or factory reset of Android. In many cases, this helps to get rid of device freezes due to incorrect operation of some applications, junk system files, viruses, etc.

Is it possible to return the phone to factory settings?

The ability to reset data is supported by any Andriod device, so every owner of this system can do it. Before you return the factory settings to your Android, you should understand that at the same time you will completely lose all data except for those recorded on the memory card. It will no longer be possible to restore their capabilities; a rollback of such actions is impossible. If you decide to reset the device to its factory state, then you will lose:

  • phone book entries;
  • applications;
  • photographs, music, books;
  • saved logins and passwords for accounts.

How to reset settings on Android

Before carrying out this procedure, it is strongly recommended to copy important files and information (photos, videos, music) to the computer via a cord. It is better to make a full backup (copy) of the system, so that if reset is unsuccessful, you can restore the device to functionality. There are 3 main options for how to return Android to factory settings:

  1. through the phone menu;
  2. using a combination of buttons;
  3. service codes.

Reset in phone settings

The easiest way to reset settings on Android to factory settings is through the gadget menu. To do this, the device must work and be able to go to the main section of the system. For all smartphones running Android 4.0 or older, the procedure is as follows:

  1. Go to the main menu.
  2. Click on the "Settings" section.
  3. Find the "Backup and Reset" section.
  4. Scroll down the page and find the "Reset settings" section.
  5. The system will inform you that the data will be deleted from the smartphone. Click on the line “Reset phone settings” and confirm the desire to “Erase everything”. The items may vary slightly between different phone models, but the names are always the same.

Using service combinations

This method also requires that the device be turned on and be able to proceed to dial a number. Each manufacturer programs their devices with special combinations that help return them to the factory state. This applies to both global brands (Samsung, HTC, Sony) and Chinese inexpensive models. Codes may change over time, they need to be clarified on the manufacturer’s website, sometimes they can be found in the manual for the smartphone. Below are examples of such combinations for your reference:

  • *2767*3855#;
  • *#*#7378423#*#*;
  • *#*#7780#*#.

Key reset using Recovery

The most radical method of how to reset settings on Android to factory settings is the Recovery menu. This is the best way to return your smartphone to its original state if it freezes on the screensaver with the company logo and does not turn on. Each device model has a standard button combination that switches it to the Recovery menu. Sometimes you have to use recovery if:

  1. The phone's stuttering has become too strong;
  2. the system does not allow you to delete, move or change anything.

First, you should completely turn off your phone. Wait until the buttons and screen go out. Next, you need to find a suitable combination for your model (the combination for HTC and Samsung will definitely be different). You can use one of the options:

  • “volume down” + “turn on” button, also known as “Power” (the most common combination);
  • on some LG phones you need to press the keys described above, wait for the logo, release “power on” and then press it again;
  • “volume up” + “volume down” + “turn on”
  • "Power" + "Home".

Hold one of the combinations until you are transferred to recovery mode to reset the device to its factory state. The menu is controlled using the volume up and down buttons. If the Recovery version is touch-sensitive, then you can reboot in the standard way (by touching the screen). To confirm your selection, you need to press the “Power” or “Context Menu” button. Next, to reset the phone to its initial state, you need.

In this instruction, we will tell you how to reset an Android-based smartphone to factory settings, and also dwell on the question of how to properly prepare the gadget and save all the necessary information before accidentally deleting it.

What is an Android reset and why is it done?

Many of us have encountered the problem of constant device freezes, firmware glitches, loss of communication, etc. To get rid of such difficulties, resetting the gadget to factory settings on Android comes to the rescue. What does this mean? Resetting the device settings allows you to restore the factory firmware characteristics, which subsequently has a positive effect on the device’s performance and the absence of additional “Glitches”.

What files and data should be saved first before resetting the settings?

There are a huge number of ways to reset Android to factory settings, but the only thing they have in common is the total deletion of all files and data from the device’s memory. Therefore, you should take care in advance of important media files and contact information, notes and other documents that you would like to save. How to do this correctly, read on.

Correct backup of contacts and notebook for Android

Let's start with pre-saving and transferring contacts, “where further away” from our gadget. The easiest way is to copy your contacts to a SIM card. This is easy to do by following our instructions. Go to the contacts menu and select “Import/Export”. In the window that appears, export contacts to any medium convenient for you: SIM card or SD storage device.

The most reliable way is to copy your contacts into a notebook, but, in our “outside” era of technology and gadgets, this option is not suitable for everyone. We recommend using an effective and efficient method for backing up contacts on Android - synchronizing the data with your Google account or its cloud storage. In addition to contacts, the cloud storage service offers you to synchronize SMS messages, notes and calendar entries from any Android device.

To get started, you should register with the Google service, simply create a new account or log in to the old one. We will not talk about this in detail, since such simple actions do not need comments. We will tell you about the correct synchronization of the necessary information with Google servers.

Go to the phone settings, section “Accounts”. Select Google accounts. There will be several items in the window that opens

    Security and entry;

    Confidentiality;

    Account setup;

Your account (Google account) will appear in the upper corner of the device screen, tap on it.

After completing the steps, a window will appear offering synchronization options. We check the boxes next to the items we need. If you want to manually backup data to the Google server, click on the circular black arrows, as shown in the screenshot.

Congratulations! The necessary information and data have been uploaded to the Google server and synchronized with your account. After resetting your device, it will not be difficult for you to restore your smartphone’s notebook or notes.

We make quick backups of photos, videos, music and documents on Android.

A simple way is to connect the device via a USB cable to your computer and transfer the necessary information to it. There is a small nuance - not all phones synchronize with a PC in “Flash drive” mode. When connecting the gadget to the computer, select the “Use as USB drive” mode.

The second way to backup the necessary files is to transfer them from the device memory to a flash card. Open File Manager.

In the manager window, select photos that are in the phone's memory. The SD card is displayed in a different location (sdcard1).

Mark the photos that need to be transferred to the flash drive (press your finger on the desired file until a check mark appears).

In the upper right corner there is a “Menu” button. If you need to select multiple files, click Select All so you don't have to waste time selecting each photo. In the next step, tap on the “Move” item and specify the SD card as the end point for the location of your files. To avoid confusion, you can create an additional folder by clicking (+) and save the data in it.

Do the same with videos, music and documents if these files are important to you.

The third way to save data on Andorid before resetting its settings is to use cloud storage. The algorithm of actions is no different from the previous point, all you need to do is download additional applications from the play market: Google Drive, Yandex Drive, etc. We advise you to use Google Drive, because... it is automatically synchronized with your account data after resetting the settings on the gadget.

Go to Google Drive, click “+” and select “Download”.

Mark the images and folder for uploading to cloud storage. Do the described actions with the rest of the media data.

Detailed instructions for resetting Android settings to factory settings

The first and easiest way to reset the settings is to use the standard phone menu, because... the device itself will tell you what to do. First, you should go to the smartphone menu and find the “Settings” section. As a rule, this is “Gear”.

Advice! Experienced users can say that on each Android device, step-by-step reset of settings differs in algorithm and sequence of actions. Actually this is not true. “Stock” or “Standard Android” does not differ in the strategy for resetting settings and data.

We find in “Settings”, the item “Backup and Reset”. Select “Reset phone settings” - “Erase Everything”.

For example, if you have a Samsung smartphone, instead of the “Recovery” menu item, there is “Backup and reset”.

In another case, with Xiaomi, Meizu and Huawei smartphones, the algorithm is no different, but the name of the buttons has undergone changes. Go to “Settings” - “Advanced” - “Reset settings”

After the reset is successfully completed, the performance of the gadget will be at its best, and you will forever forget about glitches and processor slowdowns.

The second way to reset settings is to use secret codes, which are mainly used by smartphone repair technicians. But even the simplest user can use any of them without any problems. To do this, we need to press the “Exit” button and when the numbers appear on the screen, we should dial “Secret Code”.

*2767*3855# - this code completely reinstalls the firmware, making your phone new. After the manipulation (1-3%) users may say that the Android smartphone does not turn on. Yes, there is a risk of such an inevitable event, but you should not give up. In this case, you should update the device firmware.

*#*#7780#*#* - with this code the settings will be reset. The applications will be deleted, but the rest of the data will remain.

Hard Reset or hard reset of Android settings.

The third method is the most interesting. It is created for users whose main hobby is updating firmware on an Android device. This is a factory reset via Recovery. The so-called “Hard method” or “Factory reset”. There are nuances and subtleties, which we will tell you in more detail and will try to answer all questions in the comments to the article.

This “Reset” method usually occurs when the device screen is turned off, using a certain key combination.

For reference! Be sure to charge your device to at least 80%.

Let's get started. Turn off the device.

Each Android smartphone manufacturer has a different key combination for entering the device into “Recovery” mode. We advise you to familiarize yourself with the possible options in advance, which we will now tell you about. Typically, there is a basic combination: Volume down (-) button and device ON/OFF button. Press them until recovery appears (like the image in the photo below).

If you have a Samsung smartphone without a HOME button (Home button), then press the volume key (+) and turn the device ON/OFF.

Otherwise, if “Home” is present, the key combination will be as follows: press and hold “+”, “Home” and “On/Off” at the same time. As soon as Samsung appears, release the pressed buttons.

For some LG models, you should press (-) and the "ON/OFF" button, but after the logo appears, the power button should be released and pressed again.

On certain types of SONY phones, press (-), (+) and the “ON/OFF” button simultaneously.

After our actions, the “Recovery” menu will look something like the one shown in the photo below.

Next, you should navigate through the Recovery menu using the volume buttons and select “wipe data/factory reset” or “Clear eMMC”, “Clear Flash”. The selection is made using ON/OFF. Select the desired item and press “yes” or “ yes - delete all user data." After the phone has completed a hard reset, select the "Reboot System Now" option. At this point, the "Hard Reset" process can be considered complete.

We have highlighted as a separate point the situation that owners of Samsung devices may find themselves in. It happens that the gadget does not enter “Recovery” mode. In this case, the Ging adapter will help you. It is inserted into the charging socket and within 3 seconds enters the smartphone into Recovery mode.

A program has also been developed to reset settings on Android using a computer - Android Debug Bridge (ADB). It should be installed on your computer, and ADB mode should be activated on the phone. Connect the phone to the computer (preferably via the original cable).

To reset Anrdoida settings from your PC, click “Start” - “Run” and enter “cmd”. After running the command prompt, open the program by typing adb reboot recovery in the command line. After entering the smartphone into Recovery mode, follow the instructions described above.

conclusions

In this guide, we looked at the most popular ways to reset settings on Android smartphones. Before deleting information or doing a hard reset, try to prepare a backup of your data or synchronize your device with your Google account.

Want to know how to do a hard reset on Android? You've come to the right place. Sometimes tablets and phones running the Android operating system malfunction. And the owner of the device decides to reset the settings on Android to return his smartphone or tablet computer to factory settings. It is often necessary to reset settings on Android due to an application error or if the operating system has been infected by a virus (for example, resetting settings can help if a banner virus has entered Android and is blocking the screen). Perhaps a similar situation occurred with your gadget or you simply want to delete all information from the internal memory of your tablet or phone.

Various factors can cause a system failure. This may be the general clutter of Android due to frequent reinstallation of applications and installation of a large number of programs and games on the internal memory and memory card. Or, which in general happens quite rarely without third-party intervention, it could be an internal system error. Such critical errors can occur due to interference with the structure of the operating system. And even if you did nothing, critical damage in Android could be caused by malicious software or a game that you downloaded from an unreliable source. It is for such situations that you need a hard reset on Android. We will now explain what this is.

What is a factory reset on Android?

In addition to problems with the operating system, the tablet computer or phone may not turn on at all. If the gadget slows down, freezes or is unstable, then a hard reboot of Android can also help. As the name implies, a Hard Reset is a hard reboot of the entire system. But what exactly is being rebooted and what is being reset on the phone or tablet? It’s worth clarifying here that there are two types of factory reset on Android tablets and smartphones. You can reset the system settings using software and hardware methods. And these methods have differences.

On some firmware, during a soft reset, you can select the desired removal options. In this case, all information is deleted from the memory card and internal memory of the Android operating system. When performing a hard reset through a special menu on your phone or tablet, Android System Recovery, there are no such options, so SMS messages, phone contacts, applications and games may be saved. However, before you do a software or hardware reset of Android to factory settings, we still recommend, if possible, making a backup of the data that is important to you and saving it. As a result of the reset, the following data will most likely be lost: installed applications and games, your Google account and all data associated with other accounts, your personal data (contacts, SMS messages, calendar notes), data about setting up the system and applications.

If you want to reset the settings to return the old firmware of the device, then we have to disappoint you. Neither hardware nor software resets will help restore the old firmware. It can only be restored by manually flashing the gadget. For those who have forgotten the digital or graphic access code to the system, we have good news. Hard reset should help in this situation and unlock Android. Next, we will look at both ways to reset Android settings and start with the simpler one, soft reboot the system.

How to soft reset settings on Android

If your tablet computer or phone boots, it is easier to do a soft reset to factory settings than to call up the hardware system recovery menu. To perform a soft reset on Android, you need to enter the menu of your smartphone or tablet.

Once you get to the device menu, find the settings shortcut and click on it.

In the settings you need to find the ‘Accounts’ menu item or the ‘Personal data’ option (depending on the firmware of your phone or tablet). And after that, select the menu item ‘Restore and reset’ or another name of which may be ‘Backup and reset’.

Next you need to find the ‘Reset settings’ menu item (it may also be called ‘Data reset’). As you can see from the explanation in the picture below, all parameters will be reset and all data on the device will be deleted.

By going to the data reset menu item, you can reset the device to Android factory settings. Again we draw your attention to the annotation. All information will be deleted from the device’s memory, including your Google account (this does not mean that it cannot be returned later), system and application data and settings, as well as downloaded applications: music, photos, other user data, decryption key files on the SD memory card (after resetting the device, you will not be able to use encrypted files on the SD memory card).

After clicking on the device reset button, Android will ask for confirmation ‘Do you want to delete all personal data and downloaded applications? It will be impossible to restore them in order to finally reset the operating system settings.

By clicking on ‘Delete everything’ (or on ‘Erase everything’) you will begin the procedure for resetting Android settings. In principle, this is where the description of a soft reboot of the system can be completed. Let's move on to the hardware hard reset.

Hardware Hard Reset on Android

If your phone or tablet does not turn on or start, then the reason may be a software failure of Android, and not a hardware malfunction of the device. It is for this purpose that the developers have implemented a special system menu, which can be called up by pressing buttons on the gadget. Unfortunately, there is one pitfall. As you probably know, tablet computers and smartphones for Android are produced by many manufacturers: ASUS, Acer, Alcatel, Dell, Digma, Explay, HTC, Huawei, LG, Lenovo (Lenovo), PiPO, Philips (Philips), Prestigio (Prestigio), Samsung (Samsung) or Sony (Sony) are just some of them.

Therefore, it is somewhat unrealistic to write instructions on how to reset settings for all of them within one article (if you need to know how to reset settings for a specific model, ask a question in the comments). However, we will try to cover several manufacturers of Android gadgets and make our instructions universal. Although manufacturers each go their own way, there is a certain pattern in launching the Android System Recovery menu. For most devices, the following button combinations and subsequent menu calls are suitable. You need to turn off the device. We advise you to charge the device before entering the menu if it is very discharged.

  1. To enter a reset, press and hold the volume up button (or volume down key) and the power button. Or we do the same thing, but after pressing the power button we continue to hold the volume key.
  2. The second option is similar to the first, you need to press and hold volume down and up, and then just press the device’s power key.
  3. The third option for launching the recovery menu is to press three keys at the same time: the home screen button, volume up, and the power key.
  4. The fourth is similar to the third option: you need to press the ‘Home’ button and volume down at the same time, then press the power key, wait for the manufacturer’s logo to appear and release the power button. After the Android icon appears, you can release the remaining two keys and wait for the recovery menu.
  5. Last option. Press the power button and hold for 1-2 seconds, then hold down the volume up and down buttons and the power key, and hold until the recovery menu appears.

After this, the device will either simply reboot and reset automatically, or the recovery menu will appear. After you get to the recovery menu, you need to select the Wipe data/Factory reset item using the volume down and up keys, click on it and agree to delete the settings on your phone/tablet.

Now let's look at several gadget manufacturers separately. Let's start with a description of how to hardware reset settings on Android smartphones and tablets from the company Samsung. Turn off the device. To enter the recovery menu, you need to simultaneously press three keys: the button to call the main screen of the device, volume up and the power key. Resetting the settings is carried out using the Wipe data/Factory reset item, which can be selected using the volume up and down buttons. Next, we agree to erase the data and reboot the device using the ‘Reboot now’ menu item.

On phones from HTC The settings are reset as follows. Turn off the device. To get to the recovery menu, press and hold the volume down and volume up buttons and simply press the power button on the smartphone. We wait for the inscription 'Warning' while holding the volume buttons. After the message appears, you need to press the volume up button to reset the settings. An alternative option is to press and hold the volume down key, then you need to hold down the device’s power button and wait for the Android icon. After the Android logo appears, release the power and volume down buttons, and press volume down again. Select the option ‘Restore original settings’ and press the button to turn off the gadget.

On devices from the company Acer The reset procedure looks like this. Turn off the device. For smartphones: press and hold the volume up and power keys. After a menu appears where you need to select Recovery Mode and press the volume down button. Next, the logo of a lying Android with a red triangle on its stomach should appear. After it appears, you need to press the power button of the device. After this, Android System Recovery will load, where we select the ‘Wipe data/Factory reset’ option and agree to erase the settings. For tablets, things are a little different. You need to switch the display lock lever to the left position. Then press the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time and hold them down. The tablet should vibrate. After this, you need to change the position of the screen lock lever left/right so that the lines ‘Erasing Userdata’ and ‘Erasing Cache’ appear on the screen. Actually, these lines mean that the deletion of settings has begun.

Now let's figure out how settings are reset on devices from Asus (Asus). Turn off the device. In order to do a hard reset for Android on Asus and get into Android System Recovery, you need to hold down the volume down button and then press the power key for three seconds. After that, release the power button and hold the volume down key until the recovery menu appears. In the menu that appears, you need to select Enter recovery mode, then Wipe data/Factory reset and confirm deleting the data. After completing the reset procedure, you need to reboot the gadget using the ‘Reboot system now’ menu item.

On gadgets from the company Sony (Sony) Resetting Android to factory settings is done as follows. You need to connect the device to charging and make sure that the indicator lights up. Next, you need to restart the gadget using a paperclip by pressing the paperclip into the hole located on the body and called ‘Reset’. The display should go dark. Press the power key for three seconds, after which you need to press the volume up button several times until Android loads. Next, in the Recovery menu, select ‘hard reset’ and erase the settings. After completing the reset procedure, reboot the device. An alternative option for loading the recovery menu: hold down the power and volume up keys. When the device screen lights up, release the power button and hold down the volume up and down buttons. After which the recovery menu should appear.

Here's how to reset settings on Android in devices from the manufacturer Alcatel. Turn off the device. Press the volume up and power buttons simultaneously. After this, the Android System Recovery menu should appear, in which you need to use the volume keys to select ‘Wipe data/Factory reset’ and agree to erase system settings by pressing the power button. Then reboot the device using the ‘Reboot system now’ item.

As you can see, the reset methods for different manufacturers are similar. We hope you were able to go to the recovery menu and reset your Android settings. If you have a question about a specific phone or tablet model, and you don’t know how to reset to factory settings yourself, ask a question in the comments.

Problems with an Android smartphone or tablet that cannot be resolved using the usual methods—adjusting settings or checking with an antivirus—can often only be resolved using the hard reset or wipe method. Hard reset (wipe) is a reset of the operating system settings to the factory state, deleting applications, settings, user files, Google account, contacts and other data (with some exceptions: with certain types of reset, multimedia user files remain in place). The essence of the manipulation is to make the device pristinely clean, as if it had just come off the assembly line.

You can reset Android to factory settings in the following ways:

  • Through the system application "Settings".
  • By pressing the Reset button (not available on all devices).
  • Through the Recovery menu;
  • Using a service (engineering) code - a special telephone number that you need to “call”.
  • Through a computer, using special software: utilities from device manufacturers or ADB - a debugging tool for developers. The last option is used extremely rarely for this purpose, so we will not touch on it - we will leave it to the developers.

Reset via Settings app

A hard reset through the system Settings application is the easiest, but is only available when the tablet or phone boots up and is able to respond to commands.

Before resetting, transfer all valuable data to external media (SD card or computer), and transfer contacts from the phone book to the SIM card.

Next, open “Settings”, go to the “Personal” - “Backup” section (in other versions of Android it is called “Backup and reset”) and tap “Factory reset”.

At the bottom of the next page, tap the Reset Phone/Tablet button. If you want to delete all data from the memory card at once, check the “Erase SD card” checkbox.

Reset by pressing “Reset”

On the back or side of some devices there is a “Reset” button recessed deep into the case. A short press of this button reboots the device, a long press for 15-30 seconds resets the system to its factory state.

To press “Reset” it is convenient to use a straightened paper clip or a toothpick.

Reset via Recovery menu

If your tablet or smartphone does not boot, or if it is blocked by a virus, the most accessible option is a hard reset via Recovery - the recovery menu.

Attention! Before resetting, the device must be charged or connected to a charger. If the battery level is too low, the gadget may turn off during the reset process, which will damage the firmware and lead to even bigger problems.

Also, during the procedure, you should remove the SIM card and memory card from the device.

The method for entering the recovery menu varies slightly across different brands of devices. Find out how to access Recovery on your device from the model description on the manufacturer’s website or the user manual. Hard reset techniques for the most common gadgets are also collected on the website Hardreset.info. The resource is in English, but in addition to the verbal description there are explanatory pictures, so it is easy to use even without translation.

Here are a few examples of resetting devices popular among our compatriots.

Samsung G920F Galaxy S6

  • Turn off the machine by pressing the Power button.
  • Press and hold the Home, Power and Volume+ buttons until you see the Samsung logo on the screen. After this, the Recovery menu will open.
  • Using the volume rocker to navigate, select the “wipe data/factory reset” option. Confirm your selection by pressing Power.

  • In the next section, select “Delete all user data”.

  • Returning back, click “reboot system now” - restart the system now.

After the next startup, the system will be reset.

Lenovo S720

Method 1:

  • Turn off your Lenovo phone by pressing Power.
  • Press and hold the Power and Volume+ buttons for about 5 seconds - the Android logo should appear on the screen, and after it the standard Recovery menu (as in the photo above).
  • Using the volume rocker to navigate, select “wipe data/factory reset”. Confirm your selection by pressing Power.
  • Then click “Reboot system now”.

Method 2:

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press the Camera and Power button. Hold them down until the device boots into Factory Mode.
  • If Factory Mode does not open, press the volume rocker so that both halves are pressed.
  • In the menu that appears on the screen after this, select the “Clear EMMC” option. Use the volume buttons to navigate and Home to confirm.
  • After this, the phone will automatically reboot and reset the data to the factory state.

ZTE Blade C

Method 1(if the ZTE device boots and opens at least the lock screen):

  • Tap the emergency call icon.
  • Dial the number *983*987# .
  • Press the call button.

Method 2(if the phone does not boot), completely repeats the first method of the Lenovo S720.

As you can see, one of the methods for resetting phones and tablets of different brands, through the standard Recovery menu, is the same. In addition to the listed devices, it is suitable for Acer, Ainol, Akai, BenQ, Fly, Doogee, HTC, LG, Meizu and many others. In a word, for almost everyone.

If your device has custom firmware with an advanced recovery menu, then other reset options are available to you. Among them:

  • Wipe cache - clearing the program cache. Removes only temporary application data, leaving the rest unchanged.
  • Wipe dalvic cache - clearing the buffer by the Dalvik virtual machine. Helps eliminate errors in program operation.
  • Format partition_name—cleaning the selected partition (boot, system, SD-card, and others).

Wipe cache and Wipe dalvic cache do not affect user data. Use these options if you are afraid that something valuable will be deleted - something that you did not have time to save.

Reset using service code

Service codes— these are telephone numbers that are used to perform various operations, including deleting data from the device. We have given one of these numbers above (for ZTE devices), but besides this there are also universal ones - designed for different Android devices. Here they are:

  • *#*#7780#*#* . What will happen if you type: everything will be deleted except system applications and data on the memory card.
  • *2767*3855# . What will happen if you type: full return to factory condition.

Both options are suitable for use if the emergency or normal call function is available.

If you are having problems with your Android smartphone, resetting settings and data can help, which we have already discussed in detail, so you can find the right article with detailed instructions on our website. But resetting to factory settings means that your smartphone will delete all information and all applications with settings in the process, and as a result, you will have a device in your hands in the same condition as it was straight from the factory. Of course, you have information on your Android phone that you don't want to part with. Below are ways to save the data you need.

Step 1: Save your files (photos, videos, documents).

You need to make sure that all your relevant data is not only stored on your phone. There are several places where your data can be stored and there are several ways to make backups. You can:

Option 1: Store data on an SD card

You should always remember that the MicroSD card in your phone can always serve you well, and therefore I always advise you to take a larger card (as much as the smartphone supports). The procedure for saving information to an SD card varies depending on the phone you are using. However, Android smartphones have a universal method - your photos and videos are usually stored in the "DCIM" folder. Finding them is very simple: open the application menu, select “My Files” (or any other file manager) and use it to open the DCIM folder. Surely there is an option for copying files - use it and transfer the necessary photos and videos to the SD card. In the same way, you can copy all the necessary files to your card.

Option 2: Make a backup on your computer

Once you connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable, the computer will recognize it. A dialog box will open on the screen and in it you need to select the “Open folder to view files” option. All available information will open to you and here you can also find the DCIM folder, where you will find your videos and photos. You can also copy other files you need to your computer.

Option 3: Google Drive

If you haven't installed Google Drive, you can go to Google Play and download this app for free. If you already have it on your Android smartphone, then you can mark all the necessary files - photos, videos, other documents, and save them in Google Drive or even share access to them. You can easily make the necessary backup copy, but not more than 5GB.

Step 2. Save contacts.

When you open your contacts list on your phone, there is an option in the menu called “Export Contacts” and the list will appear immediately. Select the one you need and you can save a backup copy of your contacts either on an SD card or via USB. You can also select all your contacts and share them to Gmail or any other email account. However, Google automatically backs up your contacts if you are using an Android smartphone.

Step 3: Reset settings.

Once you have backed up all the information you need, you can go to Settings/Backup and reset/Reset phone settings.
